Digicel Jamaica is suing Lime/Cable and Wireless for defamation. The disclosure was yesterday made in a release sent out by Digicel.
In the document, Digicel states that the latest lawsuit has been launched "in response to the damaging allegations made in the media by C&W/LIME on the 7th and 8th of January 2009, accusing Digicel of blocking calls to Jamaica from C&W /LIME's customers across the region".
It continued that the telecommunications entity was not only suing C&W/LIME as a company, but has also sued C&W/LIME's Chief Executive Officer, Richard Dodd, personally.
Colm Delves, Digicel Group's CEO, was quoted in the release as saying: "We were disgusted by C&W/LIME's wholly unfounded allegations against us and the accusations it levelled at Digicel of engaging in anti-competitive and arrogant behaviour."
The CEO further said that the company has never blocked calls to any other operator and maintains that these allegations are totally untrue.
