The Hunts Bay Police and members of the Joint Taskforce seized an M-15 rifle after, they were fired at by gunmen at Selassie Drive, Kingston 11 last evening.
Police reports are that shortly after 6 p.m., the Hunts Bay Police and members of the Joint Police/Military Taskforce responded to reports that heavily armed men were in the St. Joseph and Crescent Roads area.
The police were traveling along Selassie Drive when they came under fire from a group of gunmen. They returned the fire, but the gunmen escaped.
Several premises in the area were searched and an M-15 rifle, serial number L-10976 with a magazine containing eleven 5.56 rounds of ammunition was found at one of the premises.
A magazine containing one 7.62 cartridge was also found. No one was arrested in connection with the seizure. The Hunts Bay Police are investigating.
