MORRIS POWELL's REGAL SELECTION should win his third straight race tomorrow afternoon when he faces seven rivals in the Grade Two King's Plate, a 1500-metre open allowance event.

Set to be a real cracker from start to finish, the King's Plate should set up nicely for the much-improved REGAL SELECTION to catch rivals in the stretch run.

Wayne DaCosta's MR SKILL, caught and beaten into fifth place by ROMEZ and an unlucky MINISTEROFJUSTICE at 1000 metres round on January 24, will again try making all, but is bound to shut off inside the final furlong and a half.

Instead of stealing a march, MR SKILL will instead drag REGAL SELECTION's main threats, SLOGAN and MINISTEROFJUSTICE, off their bridles down the backstretch, making them go too fast for their own good.

This will be perfect for REGAL SELECTION, who has come on a ton since late September when he clocked 1:32.3 for 1500 metres.

The four-year-old colt has seemingly got over his habit of drifting in the stretch run and looks good after posting a solid 1:38.0 for a mile on December 17 before returning to romp the overnight allowance Fan Appreciation Day Trophy on New Year's Day.

Three-year-old filly

Powell has had REGAL SELECTION galloping out of the chute every Saturday morning since January 17, clearly programmed with the King's Plate in mind.

Another runner who has been programmed for a win is Richie Todd's three-year-old filly, HIGH SOCIETY, in the eighth event at 1100 metres.

HIGH SOCIETY has two runs under her girth, both at 1000 metres straight last month. However, her switch to the round course has been accompanied by a bullet work, 1:15.3, at 1200 metres in the company of stablemate UNDAUNTED last Friday morning.

UNDAUNTED posted a decent 1:40.3 for a mile on last after his fast-finishing second to REGGAE RUCKUS in his previous effort at 1300 metres.

Having kept pace with the colt at exercise, HIGH SOCIETY will be tough to beat unless Spencer Ching's debutant, SAINT CECELIA, is special.

Chung's runner clocked 1:15.2 for 1200 metres the morning after HIGH SOCIETY galloped, beating stablemate GUAN YU, a far less impressive runner than UNDAUNTED.

Quick double

The champion team of Omar Walker and Wayne DaCosta should log an easy double, five-star bankers for Track Price Plus Pick-6 tipsters - Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes runner-up THE GUMMER in the third at 1300 metres and SKETEL hunting a quick double in the 1200-metre 10th event for non-winners-of-three.

THE GUMMER has been working like a 2000 Guineas winner and ought to be followed right up to that fateful day in April after having just failed to catch MISS RUTH in the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes in December with BRUCEONTHELOOSE almost seven lengths behind in third.

SKETEL is out-of-class despite stepping up in class and cannot be opposed after galloping 1:08.4 for 1100 metres last Sunday morning.

Anthony Nunes' PALATINE has been beating stablemate C'EST MOI at exercise and should make a winning debut in the fourth at 1200 metres.
