Roma have had a brilliant start to 2009, as they have managed four wins and two draws from their opening six matches, to incredibly sit just one point adrift of fourth placed Fiorentina, the side currently occupying the final Champions League position.

The Giallorossi made a dreadful start to the 2008/09 Serie A campaign, as for the most of the opening ten rounds, the runners-up of the season prior languished in 17th place, with minimal points separating them from the relegation zone.

This is not the case at present, as the capital club continue to make their surge towards achieving Champions League qualification again next term, something that the captain of the club Francesco Totti believes is a genuine possibility.

Our last match against Genoa was perfect, as we proved ourselves against a team that have been the revelation of the season, Totti stated in an interview with Corriere dello Sport.

The victory was very important for our ranking however, as the significance of the result at the end of the day was massive, as we have continued our climb up the standings.

It wasnt easygoing throughout the entire match, though, as we were concerned towards the end after the expulsion of [Rodrigo] Taddei, he added.

It was a tough game played at a very high pace, both from a technical and physical aspect. However ,we got the three points, and thats all that matters, 'Il Capitano' concluded.

Totti and Roma will be hoping to attain another three points this weekend, when they travel north to face Atalanta in Bergamo.
