Michel Bastos has previously seemed a little uneasy in Lille due to the apparent lack of glamour at the club. Back in December, just prior to signing a new deal with les Dogues, Bastos had bemoaned the lack of recognition for Lille back in Brazil, believing that to be hindering his chances of a call up for the Selecao.

However, the attacking midfielders international career may yet take off as Brazilian national coach Dunga indicated that he has been aware of the players recent form, which has seem him score nine Ligue 1 goals this season in addition to contributing five assists.

I know of him, Dunga said, according to Ligue 1s official website. He's very fast and he's got a very powerful shot. He just needs to be consistent in his performances to get the call. If he carries on playing this well he'll get his chance.

Of course I keep an eye out on what's happening in France. I check out Lyon's Brazilians.

Lyons quintet of Brazilians, Juninho, Cris, Fabio Santos, Ederson and Fred, are all unlikely to make the national squad for one reason or another. Juninho has retired from national duty while Fred has been cut from Lyons squad after a series of spats with the management. Cris simply isnt playing at his peak while Fabio Santos and the improving Ederson are not yet at the requisite level.

Ultimately, this means that Ligue 1 is without representation in the Selecao, although this could all change if Michel Bastos can maintain his fine form.
