BABY Ps mother broke down in court for the first time yesterday but only after being told to expect a hefty prison sentence.
The 27-year-old, who had boasted to pals she would be out by Christmas, had not wept once in the trial for the son she did nothing to save


But jurors cried as they saw pictures of the horrific injuries inflicted by the tots stepdad, 32 who appeared at the Old Bailey yesterday by video link from jail.


The mum wept loudly as Judge Stephen Kramer said: A substantial term of imprisonment is the likely outcome.


The pair were remanded in custody until December 15 with paedophile lodger Jason Owen, 36, who also stood by as the tot was tortured. All three were convicted this week of allowing Baby P to die. Judge Kramer has ordered reports before sentencing.


In a statement yesterday the babys natural father said of his boy: I loved him deeply. I remember he used to bounce up and down in his pram until I took him out, giving me hugs and kisses. The verdicts will help to bring closure.
