Sir Alex Ferguson Ends Co-Operation With The Press

Ferguson Ends Co-Operation With The Press
The Guardian reports that Ferguson told journalists who travelled to Demark with the Premier League champions this week that he would not be co-operating with them again.

The Scot is thought to be seething after quotes appeared in newspapers over the summer out of context.

At the time, Ferguson was alleged to have questioned Chelsea's title credentials as the side contained a number of 30+ performers.

The Red Devils' manager gave access to the press during Manchester United's tour to South Africa in July and was annoyed that his words were manipulated as criticism of a title rival.

He told the press in July: "Chelsea are an experienced side and I don't see outstanding progress coming from a team in their 30s."

The story appeared as an attack on Chelsea, something which Ferguson resents.

And now, as his side prepare for their Champions League tie against Aalborg, Ferguson has restricted press privilige around the squad.

The Guardian quotes Ferguson as saying: "You will never get any help out of me again. I gave you access in South Africa and I shouldn't have given you access.

"It won't happen again. From now on, no matter how many miles you travel to get an interview, you won't get one."

Ferguson's comments came at an official UEFA sanctioned press event; he would have been fined had he not shown up.
