Toronto Police face all kinds of danger on the job and it's rare that they have to draw their weapons.
But on Monday, one of those incidents resulted in an officer getting shot with his own weapon - and by his own hand.
It happened on Dean Park Road near Meadowvale and the 401. The cop was involved in what police are calling a 'high risk takedown' when his handgun accidentally went off. He wound up shooting himself in the foot and was taken to hospital for treatment.
It doesn't appear the injuries are serious.
Two males were arrested in the takedown and both are in custody. There's no word on what they were wanted for.
