YOUNG mum Victoria Dobson covered up for her boyfriend after he ran over and killed her toddler son, a court heard today.
Her lover Andrew MacGregor, 30 - a disqualified driver - fatally injured 21-months-old tot Sean Dobson as he reversed his Ford Transit pick-up on to the driveway.
But as they drove the dying toddler to hospital the devious pair concocted a story that he had been knocked over outside their house by a hit and run driver.
Nursing staff and members of their family were suspicious of their story because Sean showed signs of crush injuries not consistent with a hit and run.

But even after the little boy had died they stuck to their story and made statements to highly sceptical police.
The couple finally saw sense and admitted their lies.
Yesterday they both admitted perverting the course of justice at Wolverhampton crown court.
MacGregor, from Bilston, West Mids, was jailed for nine months after also admitting driving while disquailified.
Dobson, 23, escaped jail after being given a six month suspended sentence.
Sentencing MacGregor, Judge Michael Dudley, said: This is a tragic case in which a young child died as a result of a van reversing, but it has been investigated fully and it has been established that the death was completely accidental."

Addressing Dobson, Judge Dudley added: You have lost your son in this tragic accident, you told the lie shortly after the accident at a time when your thinking wasnt straight.
You have suffered greatly and have medical problems, of course this will live with you for the rest of your life.
Speaking outside court, Dobsons father Philip Dobson, 49, said: Obviously youre going to panic in a situation like that but I still love my daughter and I will stand by her."
