MADRID, Spain (AP) - A 40-year-old man was found dead in Madrid after the late night celebrations that followed Spain's European Championship victory, media reports said Monday.
The body of the man, wearing a red Spain jersey, was found in the center of the Spanish capital with head injuries apparently sustained from a fall, reports said.
In all, 65,000 turned out to watch Spain's 1-0 victory over Germany at the Colon Square public viewing area on Sunday with 52 arrests.
It was Spain's first major trophy in 44 years. It won the European Championship on home soil with a 2-1 victory over the Soviet Union.
