A court in Montego Bay has been hearing how a 2 year old baby died after her father is believed to have punched her in the stomach damaging her intestines. The mother of the baby girl was out at a party and came home 3:30 in the morning to find her child in her own vomit and with redness to the stomach. 37 year old Rohan Cole was denied bail in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrates court Tuesday in connection with the murder of his 2 year old daughter. Cole of Washington Gardens in Kingston is charged with the murder of young Sedreka Cole. Following an application by Coles attorney, Resident Magistrate Winsome Henry denied him bail saying the allegation was strong and that she feared he might not turn up for his trial. He will again face the court on June 3. Reports are that on April 12 this year, the mother of the 2 year old child left her in her fathers care at their home in Montego Bay, and went to a party. On her return home about 3:30 the following morning, she found the child lying with her face downward and wet from her own vomit. She also noticed redness to the area of her navel. When she reportedly questioned the father about the childs condition, it is alleged that he told her that he had pinched two year old Sedreka. The child, however, told her mother that her father had hit her in the belly. The woman then took the child to the hospital where she was admitted. Cole then disappeared from the home The child died in the hospital the following day and Cole surrendered himself to the Half Way Tree Police in St Andrew. A post mortem report revealed that the childs death was due to shock consequent upon trauma to the abdomen resulting in injuries to the intestines The injuries were also consistent with a punch to the stomach.
