Kaka to strike next season for ac milan

Kaka set to lead the line

Kaka will play as a striker next season for AC Milan according to Adriano Galliani.

The Brazilian was moved into a more advanced role at the beginning of this season and although the 26-year-old was initially reluctant to shift position, the Rossoneri vice-president revealed that the club top scorer's move to bolster the attack would be made permanent.

He said: "We will be adopting a new tactic next year, Kaka will be our support striker for next season."

The European and World Footballer of the Year has scored 15 goals this season despite struggling with injury and his accuracy in front of goal has convinced the San Siro club as well as the player that his future lies in this direction.

Although such a move would increase competition for the remaining attacking place, Galliani revealed that main contenders Filippo Inzaghi and Alexandre Pato would provide the main goal threat.

He added: "I think this is an excellent solution but up front there can only be one striker playing in front of him. Inzaghi is doing very well at the moment so Pato will have to alternate with him."

Such a move would alter the strategy of the Milan giants in the transfer market this summer, with the addition of only one striker now the priority which could pave the way for the return of Marco Borriello after his magnificent season with Genoa.

Nedved prolongs Juve stay

Pavel Nedved has opted to stay at Juventus for another year.

The Czech midfielder has put pen to paper on a deal that ties the 35-year old to the Bianconeri until June 20, 2009.

The former Lazio player admitted that his decision to play his eighth year for the Turin giants was motivated by a desire to continue wearing the famous black and white shirt and prove himself in the Champions League.

He said: "My decision is based on having lived seven marvellous years here so far. "Also, the desire to experience another European campaign with a team that I am deeply tied to is a great driving force."

Claudio Ranieri's men clinched third place on their return to the top flight and qualification to the Champions League preliminary round following victory over Lazio on Game Day 35.

General manager Jean Claude Blanc revealed that Juve were already looking to the challenges that lie ahead and that signing the experienced number 11 was an important part of the club's plans.

He said: "This is the best way for Juve to start strengthening the squad for next season."

Cicinho feels the heat

Cicinho has revealed that he is relishing the climax to the Serie A season.

The AS Roma player admitted that with Inter only one point ahead of the side from the capital going into the final weekend, the tension ahead of Game Day 38 was becoming unbearable.

He said: "I'm getting really worked up about the situation and I can't wait for Sunday to come along."

The reigning champions have failed to clinch the title over the last two games, allowing the Giallorossi to further cut what once was an eleven point gap and set up a grandstand finale.

The 27-year-old won the Spanish Liga last year with a similar comeback and the former Real Madrid player claimed the Nerazzurri players were feeling the strain.

He said: "I don't know what the Inter players are thinking but having experienced something like this also in Spain, I guess they are suffering from this intense psychological pressure."

However, the Brazil international still believes the Milan giants are favourites to reclaim the title as Italian champions.

He said: "Although we are in good form and very focused, Inter still have a better chance to win because everything hinges on their result."

Semioli enjoys goal delight

Franco Semioli has revealed that the goal which gave Fiorentina the lead over Parma was the most important of his career.

The winger scored with under fifteen minutes remaining of Game Day 37 to complete a comeback that pushed the Viola into fourth place at the expense of AC Milan.

He said: " It was the most important [goal] of my life. We deserved the win after so much sacrifice and suffering for the city, the team and me.

"Now, we must press on and claim that Champions League spot."

The 27-year-old, who arrived from Chievo last summer, has struggled to reproduce the from that saw him capped for Italy at the start of the campaign, but has come back from a two-month injury just in time to boost the Viola squad for the end of season drama.

Victory over Torino on the final day of the season will ensure Champions League football in Florence next year, but the former Toro player admitted he expected a difficult match despite the Granata having secured Serie A survival.

He said: "Last Sunday's results prove that no team is slacking off or giving away points, so we'll have to be at our best to claim all three points.

"Toro will always have a special place in my heart but I have to win for Florence and if I score then I won't be able to stop myself from celebrating."
