he mother who allegedly seasoned her daughter's vagina with salt and pepper was granted bail when her attorney made an application in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
The mother who is a higgler from Central Village was granted $40,000 when she appeared before RM Lorna Errar. She is facing child abuse charges.
In applying for bail, the woman's attorney said she was fed up and "used an 18th century contraceptive method to vouch her frustration on a 13-year-old who has become uncontrollable".
The lawyer told the court that while his client's behaviour defied reason, it was an act done out of frustration after many sacrifices. He told the court that she had tried on occasions to get the assistance of the police to control the child but this was to no avail.
The RM then granted the accused bail until May 22.
Allegations are that on the day in question, the mother found out the child was having sex and said she was "loose". She allegedly told the child she was going to cool her down and later held the child and rubbed salt and pepper on her private part. She was subsequently arrested and charged.
