A 16-year-old schoolgirl from St. Mary had to flee her district recently when a video clip showing her performing oral sex on her boyfriend was distributed at her school.
Allegations are that her boyfriend, a 23-year-old truck driver of an Islington address in the parish, used his cellphone to record the act. It is reported that the incident was made public after he loaned the instrument to two youngsters who had asked him to transfer some ringtones to their cellphones.
It is alleged that the boys accidentally stumbled upon the video and transferred it to their phones without the man's consent.
THE STAR understands that the boys, who happened to be schoolmates of the female, tried to bribe her into giving them oral sex as well in return for their silence. When she refused, the boys began to show the video clip to other schoolmates after charging them a fee of $150.
As news of the video spread throughout the school, officials at the institution reported the matter to the police and the girl's boyfriend was taken into custody.
The boyfriend appeared in the Port Maria Resident Magistrate's Court on April 27 to answer to the charge of indecent assault before RM Sarah Thompson-James.
Oral sex
Allegations are that shortly before the Easter holidays, the girl received a call from him. He reportedly told the girl to meet him at Trinity, near Port Maria in the parish. Upon her arrival, she was allegedly forced into performing oral sex on him.
The court also heard that she was reportedly threatened to comply or be killed. It was further alleged that while performing the act, Nelson used his phone to record the act.
THE STAR viewed video showing the girl committing the act, but at one instance it could be heard saying "no" after she realised that she was being recorded.
One female resident of the parish told THE STAR that the schoolgirl was part of a crew of girls who allegedly have oral sex with men for money.
"Is a crew a dem par, you know, an dem specialise inna dem ting deh. Once a man want a ting him jus need fi get any one a dem numba an gi dem a link an it set," she said.
It was also said that the girl had tried to commit suicide on two occasions and shaved her head to hide her identity. Her family has since denied these claims.
When contacted, the teenager's mother told The Star she will not condemn her daughter as she is understanding and said that everybody makes mistakes.
"I was the one that walked around with her for nine months before she was born, and I's still here, so why would I turn my back on her now?" she asked.
She also said that her daughter was in the care of close relatives away from the district. She said she was thankful for the support that both she and her daughter were receiving from personnel from the Victim Support Unit in the parish and also from school officials.
Meanwhile, the man was granted bail in the sum of $500,000 with up to five sureties. He was also ordered by RM Thompson-James to report to the Port Maria Police Station two times per week. He is to return to court on June 14.
