Posted: 2008-05-14 13:03:25 The eleventh grade student of Marcus Garvey Technical High School in St. Ann who was stabbed in a classroom by intruders yesterday is now recuperating in hospital.
The student underwent emergency operation yesterday evening and is said to be recovering well.
The student was admitted to the St. Anns Bay hospital yesterday with a punctured lung following the incident, which left both teachers and students traumatised.
It is reported that shortly after 8 a.m. yesterday morning, the eleventh grade science class was being held when two men wearing mask entered the classroom.
They proceeded toward a student who was sitting at the front and attacked him with a knife.
The incident caused the frightened female teacher and other students to run out of the classroom while the attackers escaped in nearby bushes.
A spokesman for the school board Reverend Roy Wickham said the incident points to the need for improved security at the institution.
