FRANK LAMPARD could make an emotional return against Liverpool on Wednesday.
The Chelsea midfielder has been given compassionate leave following the death of mum Pat from pneumonia last week.
Lamps missed Saturdays 2-1 win over Manchester United but trained on his own on Sunday before joining in with the rest of the squad yesterday.
Blues boss Avram Grant has left the decision to play in the Champions League semi-final second leg up to the England star.
Lamps fitness will be assessed in the final training session today before the Liverpool match at Stamford Bridge.
His return will allow Grant to move Michael Essien to right-back with Claude Makelele and Michael Ballack completing the midfield three.
Chelsea have the advantage of an away goal from the 1-1 draw in the first leg.
Keeper Petr Cech relived the moment John Arne Riises injury-time own goal silenced the raucous home support in the first leg.
Cech is aware a clean sheet against Liverpool will ensure the Blues contest the final in Moscow on May 21.
He said: At Anfield the whole stadium was rocking.
They were buzzing, singing and then, all of a sudden, silence.
If someone had dropped their keys, youd have heard them hit the floor.
It was a bonus because 1-0 away is not one of the best results you can get.
