JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The Jacksonville Beach Police department is looking for a man accused of trying to kill his wife.

Investigators say Levert J. Stewart shot his wife in front of their three children at the beach Sunday night.

The family had gone to the beach when Stewart and his wife started fighting in her car.

He got out and walked to the driver's side door and fired several times into the car.

Police say she got shot at least twice.

No word on her condition.

The kids, and Stewart's brother, were not injured. Stewart ran off.

Police say he is considered armed and dangerous and should be avoided.

He's about 5'11" to 6' tall, weighing 200 pounds. He has numerous tattoos on his body. His hair is in a loose fitting braid style.
