As some of the top female artists in Reggae, Gospel and Dancehall get ready to perform for charity at this Sunday's Women's Day Mediathon contributions towards the official $10,000,000 target set out by the organizers have already been streaming in and last week Thursday Deejay Mavado showed his support to the worthy one day venture.
Presenting Committee member Paula-Ann Porter with a cash donation of $10,000 Mavado represents the very first male artist to have made a contribution. Mavado who currently has a smash remix of "On the Rock" with rap superstar Jay Z made the donation at the offices of Solid Agency.
The Mediathon which will be a live Television & Radio broadcast is in aid of building a Women's Shelter and also to further assist the Women's Center Foundation of Jamaica with providing continued counseling, skills training and education to pregnant teens.
Among the long list of artists slated to perform are, Marcia Griffiths, Etana, Brick & Lace, Queen Ifrica, Judy Mowatt, Tesanne Chin, Carlene Davis, Nadine Sutherland, Cecile, Stacious, Gem Myers, Sophia Brown, D Angel, Carol Gonzalez, M'Lonie, Cherine Anderson, Cherry Natural, LaCadco Dancers and more.
The Mediathon is an initiative of the Ministry of Information, Youth, Culture & Sports with responsibility for Women's Affairs and Gender Issues in collaboration with the Bureau of Women's Affairs.
