It is almost impossible to imagine what would lead a person to rape someone. But what is even more inconceivable is thinking about what could drive a man to carry out such an act on a 77-year-old woman.
The Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) is currently investigating such a case where an elderly woman from east Kingston was raped last Tuesday by someone she cannot identify.
According to police reports, the woman was asleep but was awakened by a man who had entered her home by forcing open the front door.
The CISOCA reported that the woman made a statement which claimed that her room was poorly lit and as such, she could not recognise or identify her attacker.
Nevertheless, residents of the community are fingering a certain individual as the rapist. They claim they know he is responsible for the act against the elderly woman whom they describe as someone who did not deserve to be treated in such a way.
"All now mi cyaa believe seh somebody would really rape di poor ol' woman. A so him heated an horny?" one resident questioned.
According to CISOCA also, the police are acting on information they have been receiving on a possible suspect.
The elderly woman was not hospitalised but has been receiving counselling.
