Hollywood stars who give birth over the age of 40 have reportedly been criticised by a fertility expert. Prof Brian Lieberman, an adviser to the Government body that regulates IVF clinics, said actresses such a Halle Berry and Nicole Kidman are promoting a dangerous myth of older motherhood, according to the Daily Telegraph. He apparently said that by making role models of these stars, women are risking increased infertility and birth complications if they choose to have children in their 40s. Halle, 41, gave birth to her first child, daughter Nahla Ariela, on Sunday while Nicole is currently pregnant at 40. Desperate Housewives star Marcia, 44, gave birth to twin daughters last year conceived through IVF, and Salma Hayek had her first child last year aged 41. Madonna was 42 when she gave birth to son Rocco in 2000, and had her first child, Lourdes, at 37. Prof Lieberman told the newspaper: "Women don't know how these celebrities conceived - it could have been through egg donation. "Ordinary women see someone like Nicole Kidman having a child and they think they are all right. "But it can't be said often enough that women's fertility falls with age and there's no real way of preserving that fertility.

i dont think there's anything wrong with having a child after age 40, i'm sure lots of females do it.

well i get that people going to think it is fine and go try it out- and everybody dont have the same luck or the same lump sum to pay a super doctor to take care of them while they are pregnant- but i think if a woman is over 40 prob. dont have a child and wants one she should be able to give it a try, she prob. could live with herself if she didnt at least try.
