KELLITS, Clarendon - One of three armed men accused of robbing the Kellits Co-operative Credit Union of more than $1.2 million yesterday was held in a police roadblock yesterday.
The man, who is to face an identification parade, was held along the Chapleton main road while trying to escape from the police in a white Toyota Corolla motor car, in which all three had left after the robbery.
However, his two cronies, who the police said had apparently boarded another vehicle after leaving the credit union, escaped with the loot.
A man claiming to be an eyewitness said that at about 10:00 yesterday morning three "well-dressed men" entered the credit union and pretended to be customers. The three, the man said, pulled guns on the cashiers and ordered that they be taken to the vault, from which they took approximately $1.2 million and escaped in the Corolla motor car.
