Former striker for the national football team, Onandi Lowe, is scheduled to appear in court on drug charges on Tuesday.
He was arrested last month in Spanish Town, St. Catherine in relation to ganja.
Lowe claimed he was unfairly targeted by the police as the marijuana was not found in his possession.
He said he was arrested and charged despite someone else confessing to being the owner of the drug.
He was released on $20,000 bail.
The police say they stopped a vehicle in which the former Reggae Boy was travelling in, along the Spanish Town bypass and conducted a search.
Forty-two sticks of ganja were allegedly discovered.
Four other persons, who were in the vehicle, including a woman, were also arrested.
