Wednesday, 02 January 2008 The St. Catherine South Police are promising a major offensive on crime this New Year.
Despite a heavy crime figure last year, they are celebrating what they claim were major successes.
Based on their statistics, they recovered 76 illegal firearms, five more than the previous year.
CCN Liaison Officer for the St. Catherine South Police Division, Constable Verdane Wright told the RJR News Centre they also recovered more than 500 rounds of ammunition, hundreds of kilograms of marijuana and also nabbed several wanted men.
He says the objectives for this year include restoring public confidence and improving community relations.
According to Constable Wright these plans are part of the division's major onslaught on crime.
