Mavado reminded the 15,000 strong audience at Guinness Sting 07 why he is one of the most dynamic artistes to have emerged on the dancehall scene in the last two years with a brilliant hit-studded performance at Jamworld this morning.
One876Entertainment.com was at the show to give you updates.
Dressed in dapper full black suit with flecks of silver, the 'Gully God' hit the stage singing 'Amazing Grace' and immediately got a forward that eclipsed the workmanlike performance put in by Assassin a few minutes earlier.
Dropping his catchy one-liners from his catalogue of recent hits, he breezed through 'Bawl Dem a Bawl', Mine How Yu Diss Me a Road (NaNaNaNaNa), and Chat Too Much.
After earning an encore, he returned to the stage with even greater intensity as he belted out 'Weh Dem a Do', and the forwards seem to swallow the stage, the rising crest of noise punctuated by a barrage of firecrackers and rockets as he tore through the hits, Full Clip, Real McKoy, Weh Dem a Say and Bad Man Place.
He invited Einstein onstage and he did 'Rise Up the Rifle Dem' and Flexx who did the song with the punchline, 'mi buss mi gun early Sunday morning'.
Mavado then switched gears neatly to the girls with 'Squeeze Her Breasts, Twice a Day and Hard in Her, before squeezing off Last Night.
He took time out to big up Vybz Kartel, saying, "Big up Vybz Kartel, gangsta a gangsta, big up Adidja Plmer, this is David Brooks, David Constantine, big u Addi, big up Killa the real general, this is what gangsta life is like," he said, before doing 'Touch the Road and Gangsta For Life.
He paid homage to Bounty Killer by asking for a show of hands who respected the leader of the Alliance.
"Mek me see who respect Bounty Killer, when nothing nah gwaan, him say Mavado," he said.
For his final song, Mavado sat on the speakers and made reference to the recent police operation that closed down his birthday party, and did dancehall-flavoured version of Jehovah Guide Me, I'm Under the Rock. He left the stage to a loud ovation, and the Killer immediately hit the stage at 3:44 a.m.
