Rastafarian firebrand Chuck Fenda is giving thanks to Jah for having survived a gun attack by a dozen armed men in Bahamas who attempted to kidnap him allegedly on the order of Trevor Davis, a promoter for the Bahamas Beach Fest for which the deejay had been booked.
According to the deejay, the promoter had refused to pay him or his band the full agreed sum for his performance so he had decided not to perform. The following day, he went to the home of a station manager to pre-record his explanation for the public as to why he was a no-show. After the taping, he and the band left the station managers house and were immediately ambushed by the armed men, who were in the company of the promoter Trevor Davis.
The man dem say dem no like Jamaican and we de pon their turf, and dem a go kidnap we and put we inna car trunk, he explained.
According to the deejay, the men robbed him of his watch and chain and held him at gunpoint.
Dem pull off mi Movado watch, and pop off mi chain, and one of them swing the gun and gash me over mi right eye, Fenda said.
Me and dem de de a tussle, and mi decide say better them kill we and dun, because mi come out a the slum, and me a deal with positive things, mi put down badness, and a deal with Jah works as a reggae ambassador, and I want Jamaica people to know that it is not easy to represent reggae music out there on the battlefield, he said.
Fenda said the matter was eventually reported to the police and a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Trevor Davis on the charge of attempted kidnapping. He said that the station manager was also a suspect.
The deejay said that the consulate and the tourism offices had to get involved in the matter as well.

Here's how it REALLY went down.. Chuck Fenda was paid prior to his arriving.. when he showed up he wanted to renegotiate the already signed contract - basically he wanted more money and he said that if he did not get it then he wasn't goign on. The promoters discussed possible solutions with him, but to no avail.. then they asked him for the money back - He refused to return it even without performing.. this is when the promoters said.. well if you won't give it then we'll take it. Bahamas don't play dat BS..
This is what really happened.. no one was picking on deh Rasta dem.. him brought it pon himself.. ya zimme..

Speaking as a proud Bahamian, and a person who also knowns the station manager and i know about the promoter, the artist took the money n didnt want to perform. He was comfronted by a group of armed men and beaten up. The promoter was arrested and charged with it the case is pending. Bahamian are not scared of anyone, nor do we hate ppl because of where they are from. Fender went to the US Embasy cua he is an American of Jamaican decent. We love reggae as well as Bahamian music, soca, hip hop, r n b, dance. In other words all types of music. Many artist come here with no problems, 2weeks ago Vegas, assassin, voicemail, cecil, lady saw. The same night as Fender was suppose to perform Buju performed n mash up the place. Buju is very well liked in the Bahamas, Fender thought the ppl were coming to see him that's why he wanted more money. The ppl were there to see Buju. With all that said if the promoter did it he will go to jail, live positive!
