A 15-year-old boy who admitted in court that on several occasions he sexually molested his 44-year-old mother who is of an unsound mind, was remanded to a place of safety when he appeared in court yesterday.
The boy appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court to answer to the sexual offence charge. His father was also charged with aiding and abetting.
According to the investigating officer, Detective Corporal Kirk Roach of the Guanoboa Vale Police Station, on Sunday, the police received information about the sexual encounters between the son and his mother. An investigation was launched and the boy and his father were arrested.
Yesterday when the R.M. questioned the boy in court, he admitted, "Yes mom, mi do it." His father was chided by the court as he admitted that he knew about the incidents but did not report it.
Dates written down
The court was also told by the police that the juvenile wrote down the dates when he committed the sexual offences. He is said to have noted at least seven occasions with the latest one taking place on January 4.
Several persons who were in the court seemed shocked when they heard the allegations. But the case still took another twist. The investigating officer begged the court to remove two children, ages nine and 13 years, from the house as their investigations had revealed that they were badly in need of food and medical care.
The father, however, countered that; "Mi take care a mi pickney them, and a wa day mi buy over 40 tablets to cure the sore them inna them head and mi also buy food for them."
The services of the probation department was enlisted to take the children into Government care, while the father was granted bail in the sum of $80,000 and is to reappear, along with his son, on July 3.
