The Gunners had goals from striker Emmanuel Adebayor in the 10th, winger Theo Walcott in the 11th, midfielder Abou Diaby in the 22nd, defender Alexander Song in the 49th and substitute Aaron Ramsey in injury time at Sukru Saracoglu stadium.
Arsenal leads Group G with seven points. Dynamo Kiev, which defeated FC Porto 1-0 on Tuesday, is second with five points. Porto has three points and Fenerbahce has one.
Adebayor, who has been nominated for the Golden Ball award, found the net after penetrating the defense and sliding a low shot past the goalkeeper and inside the post. Less than a minute later, Walcott scored a similar goal before the defense could reorganize.
Samir Nasri squandered a chance to score for the Gunners when the ball was deflected in the 14th minute.
Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre scored an own-goal in the 19th minute to make it 2-1, but Diaby re-established the two-goal lead three minutes later.
Despite the support of a partisan crowd, Fenerbahce continued its poor domestic form, although Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia made some spectacular saves in the first half.
Song made it 4-1 four minutes after the break, but Daniel Guiza gave the home fans some hope when he broke free and chipped over Almunia in the 78th.
However, Ramsey scored in the fourth minute of injury time to give the 17-year-old midfielder his first Champions League goal.
Emmanuel Adebayor and Theo Walcott put the Gunners 2-0 up inside 11 minutes and although Mikael Silvestre's own goal reduced the deficit, Abou Diaby restored the Gunners' cushion.
Four minutes after half-time Alex Song volleyed in a fourth to extend the Gunners' lead at the top of the group.
The profligate Daniel Guiza pulled a goal back in the 77th minute but it was too late to affect the outcome and substitute Aaron Ramsey fired in off a post in the fourth minute of injury time.
It was the hosts' first defeat in Europe at home in 16 matches but in truth they were the architects of their own downfall.
Both teams defended poorly and the only difference between the two was up front where Arsenal took their chances and Fenerbahce did not.
Spain striker Guiza was the main culprit, squandering two excellent opportunities just before half-time which could have made it 3-3 at the interval and a much different proposition for Arsene Wenger's side.
In only the fourth minute Gunners goalkeeper Manuel Almunia, captain for the night, made the first save, rushing out to block Ugur Boral's close-range shot from Claudio Maldonado's right-wing cross.
The famous Fenerbahce atmosphere was evident from the start with every Arsenal attack greeted with a cacophony of boos and whistles.
But the crowd were silenced in the 10th minute when Adebayor beat the offside trap to collect Cesc Fabregas' through-ball and coolly slot past Volkan Demirel for his third Champions League goal in as many matches.
A minute later it was 2-0 as Fabregas replicated his defence-splitting pass and Walcott rounded the goalkeeper, who got half a touch, before firing inside the near post.
Had Samir Nasri had the confidence to hit Emmanuel Eboue's right-wing cross first time with his left foot three minutes later it would have been a third but he cut it back on to his right at the far post and Volkan saved.
Fenerbahce should have pulled one back immediately when Guiza's shot was half-blocked by Gael Clichy and it fell to Semih Senturk, who fluffed his kick from just five yards.
However, the hosts were gifted a goal in the 19th minute when Alex floated in a free-kick and Guiza volleyed across the six-yard area where Silvestre stuck out a leg and diverted the ball past Almunia.
Within two minutes Arsenal restored their two-goal cushion when a long ball forward picked out Diaby, who held off the challenge of two defenders to fire left-footed across Volkan and into the far corner of the net.
The tall midfielder was booked for pulling his shirt over his head but it could not dampen his delight at scoring.
In the 31st minute later Guiza volleyed past Almunia from close range from Gokhan Gonul's pass but it was ruled out for offside.
The Spain striker then twice raced clear but narrowly shot wide and then ran the ball straight into the goalkeeper when he should have done better on both occasions.
Arsenal took less than four minutes to extend their lead, and once again it came from some poor defending.
Fabregas' left-wing free-kick was not even half-headed away and when the ball dropped to Song on the edge of the six-yard area he lashed home a volley.
Fenerbahce tried to respond but they found the Arsenal defence less generous than had been the case in the first half.
Alex's superb pass picked out charging full-back Roberto Carlos but having controlled the ball with his left foot in the penalty area he could not hit it with his right and the chance was lost.
Guiza missed another chance when he again caught the defence square but shot straight at Almunia and then Edu's follow-up was cleared off the line Eboue.
With 17 minutes remaining Diaby was withdrawn and Ramsey sent on for his first proper taste of the Champions League having previously only played in the qualifying round.
In the 77th-minute Guiza finally atoned for his previous errors when he lobbed Alex's pass over Almunia but it appeared too little too late.
Seconds later he broke through again and fired at the goalkeeper, although he had already been flagged offside.
But in the fourth minute of injury time Ramsey fired in off a post to complete the rout.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Dimitar Berbatov also found the net during a devastating 15-minute period for the Barclays Premier League champions, with Nani completing the scoring in the last minute.
But it was a struggle until man-of-the-match Rooney broke the Baggies' resistance by scoring in his fifth successive game, a run that has yielded six goals for club and country and has now moved United into the top four.
West Brom had every reason to be fearful and it appeared those worries were proved valid when the England striker tucked home midway through the opening period.
On first viewing, Rooney appeared merely to use his strength to push Gianni Zuiverloon to one side as he skipped onto Ronaldo's through ball.
He then stepped inside Ryan Donk before beating Scott Carson from 10 yards. Television replays did not cast that much doubt on Rooney's challenge either but referee Mark Halsey thought otherwise and disallowed the goal for a push.
It was the most notable moment of a frustrating half for the hosts, who dominated possession but failed to break a stoic West Brom defence in which Donk and central defensive partner Jonas Olsson were superb.
Rooney did have a near-post header pushed away by Carson just after the one Halsey wiped out but other than that, it was just a succession of near-misses.
Ronaldo blasted a couple of free-kicks, one from fully 35 yards, into the wall and Darren Fletcher fired over from the edge of the area.
Rooney, who had taken on corner kick duties, dropped two into the area without anyone getting a touch and Rio Ferdinand had a penalty appeal turned down.
If that was not bad enough, United lost Patrice Evra nine minutes before the break with an injury which must make him a doubt for Tuesday's Champions League duel with Celtic.
The proximity of that Battle of Britain clash, coupled with a flight back from World Cup duty in South America which only saw them report back at United's Carrington HQ yesterday afternoon, was the reason behind Anderson and Carlos Tevez being omitted.
Yet it was a surprise neither man was even on the bench to offer assistance if the Red Devils hit a problem which, at half-time, it looked as though they had.
The general zip that had been missing from United's play in the first half did not instantly reappear after the break.
There were still moments of excellence as Rooney warmed Carson's fingers from 25 yards and Berbatov brought another decent save from West Brom's sure-footed goalkeeper.
But United needed something special, which is exactly what Rooney is delivering at present.
There was still plenty of work to do when Berbatov slipped a pass to his right.
But Rooney darted into the box before stepping inside Donk onto his favoured right foot, with which he beat Carson at his near post. The relief was obvious as Rooney bellowed in celebration.
Carson won the next round of what was turning into a private battle, getting down low to steer away Rooney's shot after the England man had collected Ryan Giggs' pass.
The introduction of Gary Neville for Rafael da Silva shortly afterwards hinted at a cautious approach. Within five minutes, they had scored twice more.
First Rooney, having got his goal, turned provider to send Ronaldo flying through. It is not the kind of opportunity a prospective world player of the year passes up.
Then substitute Nani saw his low cross bounce through the penalty area to Berbatov who calmly leant back and smashed his first Premier League goal for United - and his first of any kind at Old Trafford - past the helpless Carson.
Giggs tried to get his name on the scoresheet and Rooney went close again before his unselfish streak allowed him to claim another assist as he rolled an inviting pass across goal to Nani.
The Red Devils' place in the top four was secure. The big four reunited again and ready for battle to commence
Although missing several players through injury and suspension, Sampdoria put up a good fight until Stefano Lucchini handled Ronaldinho's shot inside the area to earn a second yellow card in the 54th minute.
Ronaldinho scored the resulting penalty, then added a second in the 66th minute before Filippo Inzaghi capped the victory in the final minute.
Milan did not have it all their own way in the first half however.
After Marco Borriello had missed from close range for the hosts, Samp took control of the game.
In the sixth minute, Antonio Cassano raced into the area before forcing a good save from Christian Abbiati.
A minute later Cassano turned provider, but Jonathan Bottinelli's header was just wide.
Marco Padalino then tried to set up Gennaro Delvecchio but Paolo Maldini made a timely intervention as Delvecchio prepared to pull the trigger.
In the 21st minute, Delvecchio struck a superb volley which flew just past the right-hand post.
At the other end, Marek Jankulowski c****ined with Ronaldinho to break through on goal, but his shot was tame and Luca Castellazzi held on.
A minute later the goalkeeper was in action again to save Ronaldinho's free-kick.
Alexandre Pato should have put Milan ahead in the 35th minute but scuffed a good chance from close range after more good work from Ronaldinho.
Samp were back on the attack in the 39th minute but Abbiatti was able to parry Cassano's drilled shot.
Having been on the back foot for much of the first half, Milan looked a different team after the break.
Just a minute after the restart, Kaka skimmed the left-hand post with a shot from the edge of the area.
The game then turned in the 54th minute as Lucchini handled to give Ronaldinho the chance from the spot.
Cassano tried to respond to the opener but could not beat Abbiati in the 62nd minute, and moments later Milan doubled their advantage as Kaka went on a superb run before finding Ronaldinho who applied the finish from the edge of the area.
Borriello wasted a fine chance to make it three in the 69th minute as Kaka went on another fine run, only for the young striker fire wide.
A third goal looked as though it would only be a matter of time as Ronaldinho's free-kick hit the crossbar on its way over and Emerson too found the woodwork with a header from Kaka's corner.
Ronaldinho could have had a hat-trick five minutes from time but Castelazzi saved his volleyed shot.
The finishing touch came in the final minute as Invaghi rounded the goalkeeper before slotting home from a tight angle.
Arsene Wenger was forced to field a reshuffled defence because of injuries to captain William Gallas and Bacary Sagna, but the new-look back four was exposed after just nine minutes when Leon Osman put the visitors ahead.
However, after another enforced change when Kolo Toure was forced off at half-time because of a shoulder problem and England winger Theo Walcott was introduced from the bench, the team had better balance and soon drew level through Samir Nasri.
Robin van Persie - who on another day could have bagged himself a hat-trick - nodded in from close range to complete the comeback, with Walcott drilling home an angled effort in stoppage time to give the bruised Gunners renewed confidence for more stern challenges over the next seven months.
Arsenal were looking to improve on their last Premier League game here, when surprise package Hull pulled off a shock, but deserved, win.
But after what was a low-key start, Everton took an early lead.
The ball was knocked up field and dropped back to Osman. The midfielder played a pass out wide to Steven Pienaar on the left, continued his run into the area to meet the return cross and stabbed the ball past Manuel Almunia.
Arsenal - who had only lost two games since arriving at their new home in 2006 - were stunned into action, and soon lifted the tempo.
They should have been level when Van Persie beat the offside trap and collected a long pass from Fabregas into the area ahead of Joleon Lescott.
The Dutchman turned superbly, only for his shot to be blocked by a brilliant reaction save from American stopper Tim Howard.
In the 22nd minute, Arsenal defender Toure, captain in Gallas' absence, needed treatment for a shoulder problem after falling awkwardly at a corner.
Gael Clichy picked out Emmanuel Adebayor with a deep cross from the left, but the big African could not keep his header down.
Emmanuel Eboue then presented Van Persie with another great chance after a clever angled pass, only for the Dutchman to blaze the ball over from 20 yards.
After 30 minutes, Lescott pulled back Van Persie just outside the area on the right, and was cautioned.
The Holland forward took the free-kick himself, which Howard had to punch away double-fisted as it was whipped towards the far post.
With seven minutes to half-time, Everton went close again when Lescott's downward header from a Leighton Baines cross was cleared off the line by Clichy.
Fabregas flashed a 25-yard effort just wide of Howard's right-hand post and then from close range dragged a shot across goal to sum up a frustrating opening 45 minutes by the off-key Gunners.
Toure had been struggling and was unable to continue for the second half, with Alex Song moving from the right into the middle and Eboue dropping back as Walcott came on.
It was Almunia though who was called into action right away, as Ayegbeni Yakubu got on the end of a knockdown by Marouane Fellaini.
Arsenal, though, were soon pressing down on the Everton goal and drew level through Nasri on 48 minutes.
A corner was only half-cleared, with Denilson playing the ball back to the edge of the area, where Mikael Silvestre - making a belated debut after signing from Manchester United - touched it back to Nasri, who drilled a low strike past the defenders and an unsighted Howard.
Suddenly the Emirates Stadium faithful had found their voice again and the team responded with a number of free-flowing moves.
Van Persie blazed the ball over when it fell to him 12 yards out and then looked to have a strong penalty claim when he went down under a challenge from Baines - but the referee was having none of it.
Peter Walton was then centre stage once more when Tony Hibbert went in late on Denilson and was involved in some unnecessary afters with Clichy which saw a brief melee. The Northamptonshire official, though, decided a yellow card was sufficient punishment for both men.
Arsenal continued to press, but were confronted by a wall of blue shirts around the penalty area.
However, they finally found a way through on 70 minutes. Adebayor went into the left side of the box, before setting up Fabregas.
His strike was parried by Howard - and Van Persie was on hand to nod the ball in, despite the best efforts of Baines on the line.
Abou Diaby came on for his first appearance of the season to replace Nasri - and promptly set up Walcott to make it 3-1 in stoppage time.

Liverpool maintained their unbeaten home league record in 2008 with a stunning 3-2 comeback victory, but how Wigan made them fight.
The Anfield men are specialising in dramatic comebacks, and after Chelsea's 5-0 win at Middlesbrough earlier in the day, they knew they could not afford to slip-up.
But they were twice behind to first-half goals from Egyptian striker Amr Zaki, his second an acrobatic volley into the Kop end.
Dirk Kuyt's first equaliser kept Liverpool in the game and they fought their way back to win 3-2, just as they had at Manchester City a fortnight ago.
Wigan battled for everything and the game turned on a red card for Antonio Valencia with 16 minutes left.
The Latics were down to 10 men and Liverpool powered forward, with Albert Riera grabbing the equaliser and Kuyt, with a slightly less clean version of Zaki's volley, secured maximum points for Rafael Benitez's side.
Liverpool were forced into four changes from the side which claimed a late fightback at Eastlands a fortnight ago with Daniel Agger, Robbie Keane, Andrea Dossena and Jermaine Pennant all coming in.
Fernando Torres, Javier Mascherano, Martin Skrtel and Fabio Aurelio were all out.
Emile Heskey, who revealed earlier in the week that a return to Liverpool would be "lovely'' was missing for Wigan with a hamstring strain, so Dutchman Daniel de Ridder came in.
Tackles flew in, there was pace and desire from Wigan and they had the bulk of the early possession.
Zaki gave Agger and Jamie Carragher plenty to think about, and the collision between Lee Cattermole and Steven Gerrard in midfield was uncompromising.
Jose Reina needed to be at his best when he had to beat away a drive from Olivier Kapo after a clever pass from Wilson Palacios had put him through on the left of the box.
Liverpool had not really threatened to this point, but almost scored when Riera's ball put Keane in on the left after 28 minutes.
He was forced a yard wider than he would have liked, and saw his angled right-foot shot just clear the far post.
Then within a minute, Wigan were ahead after a terrible mistake from Agger.
Reina tapped a routine pass out to the Dane, who was far too casual. He allowed the ball to bounce away from him enough for Zaki to pounce, win the tackle, and stride into the box to beat Reina with a shot into the bottom corner.
Agger knew he had to do something after that howler and atoned after 37 minutes when he came out of defence down the left before exchanging passes with Dossena.
He then went past Cattermole in the box before crossing for Kuyt to fire in the equaliser, his first home league goal since scoring against the same opposition in April.
Kuyt then hit the crossbar and Riera's towering header cleared the top of bar.
But Zaki had the final word of the half with a stunning scissors-kick from a Valencia cross which flew past Reina for a sensational goal.
Liverpool went searching for a second equaliser straight from the restart and it took a fine save from former Liverpool goalkeeper Chris Kirkland after 57 minutes to keep Wigan ahead. Pennant jumped over Keane's low cross from the left, and Kuyt's instant shot was blocked by Kirkland's left leg.
Riera almost set up Keane in the six-yard box before Gerrard lashed a 30-yard shot wide.
Liverpool were now gambling by throwing men forward, risking more danger from the robust, physical Zaki, who was more than happy to take on Carragher at every opportunity.
Gerrard side-footed a free-kick wide after a Wigan wall had failed to retreat far enough, and Valencia was booked.
Wigan were furious because they believed that Xabi Alonso's touch sideways of about a yard meant the kick had been taken.
But worse was to follow for Valencia. Soon after he was in trouble again for a foul on Alonso, and referee Alan Wiley showed a yellow and then a red card to the Wigan man.
That just inspired Liverpool to launch a new wave of attacks, and when substitute Nabil El Zhar crossed from the right after 79 minutes, Riera lashed home his first goal for the club. Wigan deserved more, but with five minutes to go, Pennant crossed from the right and Kuyt hooked the ball down into the turf and up to clear Kirkland's stretching fingersGalliani also confirmed th midfielder had been "close'' to joining the Rossoneri before moving to LA Galaxy from Real Madrid.
The former England captain is keen to keep up his match sharpness in order to remain part of the national squad but with the Major League Soccer season coming to a close he will need to find alternative arrangements.
Last year he joined up with Arsenal and there have been reports in Italy that Milan could be his next port of call.
Galliani confirmed that manager Carlo Ancelotti would have the final say but insisted the club would be happy to have the 33-year-old midfielder train with them.
"I have not heard from Beckham since the night before he transferred to Galaxy,'' said Galliani.
"He was close to (joining) Milan before going to California, but I don't know anything about the rumours in circulation. But if Beckham wanted to train with Milan, then I would have to ask coach Carlo Ancelotti, but from the club's point of view, there would not be any problem.
"But Beckham is another club's player who has a contract with that other club.''
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid player is eager to stay in Fabio Capello's England plans as he bids to add to his 107-cap tally.
Two more caps would see him overtake Bobby Moore as the country's most capped outfield player.
AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti added he would be happy to work with Beckham.
"We would get to know a great champion," he said in Gazzetta dello Sport. "There were negotiations in the past with Milan, but it did not work out. Now we may get somewhere."
The forward was expected to join Chelsea in the summer but signed for City at the 11th hour after they were bought by mega-rich Arabs.
And the former Real Madrid ace already looks like a wise piece of business even at a British record Ł32million.
To mark his impact, we have selected the best Brazilians to ever play in England.
We have discounted the likes of Robinho, Jo and Heurelho Gomes, as it is too early to judge the success of this summers arrivals. And, of course, there is no place here for flops such as Kleberson, Jardel and Roque Junior.
But what this list does demonstrate is the Premier Leagues inability barring Robinhos recent switch to attract the elite Brazilian talent.
No10: Geovanni
Former Barcelona forward Geovanni has a habit of upsetting the big boys. After signing for Manchester City last year, he scored the winner in the derby with United. And despite a summer move to Hull, he again proved his value with a superb strike in the shock win at Arsenal on Saturday.
|
No9: Mirandinha
The very first Brazilian well before foreign players started arriving in their droves. Newcastle striker Mirandinha cost Ł575,000 (a big sum in 1987) from Palmeiras and, along with future England star Paul Gascoigne, helped them finish eighth. But his star faded as Toon were relegated a year later.
|
No8: Lucas
The Liverpool midfielder has yet to establish himself as a first-team regular at Anfield but there has already been enough to suggest he can blossom in the future. Lucas faces tough competition for places with the Reds but boss Rafa Benitez believes the Ł8m signing could become a real box-to-box star.
|
No7: Afonso Alves
Alves was a prime candidate to become the latest high-profile flop but he is quietly earning an impressive reputation at Middlesbrough. The Ł12m striker has scored seven goals in 13 league starts since his January move. Much will depend on his ability to perform during the cold winter months.
|
No6: Denilson
Eyebrows were raised when Arsenal failed to replace defensive midfielders Mathieu Flamini and Gilberto in the summer. But they did not hesitate to promote Ł3.4m Denilson and the 20-year-old has repaid their faith with impressive displays in starting every league game so far this season.
|
No5: Elano
Signed during the haze of arrivals in the early days of Sven Goran Erikssons reign, Elano emerged as arguably the best buy. The Ł7m midfielder immediately demonstrated his eye for wonder goals and although his form tailed off, he is now threatening a return to his best under Mark Hughes.
|
No4: Anderson
Paul Scholes may be in the autumn of his career but Manchester United have a replacement ready in Anderson. The tough-tackling Ł14m midfielder is a ball of energy in the centre of the park and is set to emerge as one of the clubs key stars in the future.
|
No3: Edu
Despite a slow start at Arsenal, Ł6m Edu soon became a key player in their bid for trophies. The midfielder helped them to two titles and three FA Cups in his four-year stint. He eventually opted to join Valencia on a free and it is worth noting that the Gunners have not won a trophy since his departure.
|
No2: Gilberto Silva
Arsenal fans bid a fond farewell to Gilberto in the summer. Signed after helping Brazil to the 2002 World Cup, the star later helped fill the void left by Patrick Vieira. A powerful midfielder and comfortable on the ball, Gilberto also proved his worth as an emergency centre-back.
|
No1: Juninho
After Middlesbrough were promoted in 1995, they signed a little-known star called Juninho. The tiny forward went on to become one of club's all-time heroes with a string of dazzling performances. Boro signed some flop Brazilians but Juninho who returned two more times will not be forgotten.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez will be cursing international football once again after learning that both Fernando Torres and Ryan Babel limped off while on World Cup qualifying duty.
Fernando Torres suffered a similar injury when he limped off against Aston Villa earlier this season.
Benitez will be especially keen to have Torres, who recently missed out on the last international break after tearing a hamstring muscle at Aston Villa back in September, for the following Sunday against Chelsea.
Spain team doctor Oscar Celada told Spanish television: "He has intense pain in the back part of the thigh. It is difficult to diagnose now exactly the extent, if it is a question of a strain or a small tear. If it is a strain then he could be out for about a week."
Babel was also forced off in Holland's 1-0 victory in Norway.
The 21-year-old was substituted after 26 minutes with the nature of his injury yet to be disclosed.
Meanwhile, Liverpool staff and fans alike await news on where the match with Atletico will be played. The Spanish club have been imposed with a 300km ban after crowd trouble and racist abuse marred their clash with Olympique Marseille, causing an outcry on those who had already paid for flights and hotels.
An alternative venue has yet to be decided with Atletico saying on Wednesday that they were confident they could at least get the ban postponed until a later group game with PSV.
Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry hopes the game can still be played in Madrid.
Parry told the club's official website, www.liverpoolfc.tv: "Working closely with the FA, we've made strong representation at the highest level pointing out the effects a switch will have on our travelling fans.
"We've also raised serious concerns on the safety and security aspects of such a late change of venue. We will continue to work hard, but are hopeful UEFA will take on board these issues when deciding where the game will be played.''
They won Mexico last night but some ppl say tht was just luck and the Mexicans were not playing hard. Personally i wish them the best but do you think they are gonnna make it???

Wayne Rooney's latest injury may keep him out of Manchester United's Saturday trip to Blackburn Rovers but not England's World Cup qualifying double-header with Kazahstan and Belarus.
<a href="http://ad.dc2.adtech.de/adlink|3.0|605|1181107|0|170|ADTECH;loc=300;key=england+story+eng1+360+ROW;kvsection=england;kvpagetype=story;kvleague=eng1;kvclub=360;kvcc=ROW;grp=9365360" target="_blank"><img src="http://ad.dc2.adtech.de/adserv|3.0|605|1181107|0|170|ADTECH;loc=300;key=england+story+eng1+360+ROW;kvsection=england;kvpagetype=story;kvleague=eng1;kvclub=360;kvcc=ROW;grp=9365360" border="0" width="300" height="250"></a> |
Rooney turned his ankle during United's Champions League win over Aaalborg, in which Rooney scored the first goal and it was first feared he would join Paul Scholes on the long-term injury list.
However, a club spokesperson told the club's official website: "Wayne has an ankle injury and is considered doubtful for Saturday's game against Blackburn, but he should recover in time for England's forthcoming matches."
Fabio Capello names his England squad on Sunday for the match in Astana on Saturday 11 October and Belarus' visit to Wembley on Wednesday 15 October.
Meanwhile, Turkey Under-21 international Sercan Yildirim claims that United are considering a move for him.
With four goals in as many matches 18-year-old Yildirim is joint top-scorer of the Super Lig alongside Galatasary striker Milan Baros.
"Manchester United have been in contact with my family and the president of my club - that makes me very happy,"' the Ł5million-rated Bursaspor striker told Turkish media.
First-half goals from Joe Cole and Nicolas Anelka kept Scolari's men at the top of the Barclays Premier League, and it could have been more but for the reflexes of Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel.
The hosts, already without the services of Didier Drogba, Deco, Ricardo Carvalho and Michael Essien, were missing Alex from their starting line-up and then saw midfielder Cole limp off.
Anelka, struggling with muscle spasms before the match, was also taken off at the break meaning Franco di Santo was Scolari's frontline striker for 45 minutes.
It mattered little. Scolari had never met Martin O'Neill before and had spoken of his admiration for the teams the Villa boss has produced - but this crop simply had no chance as Chelsea gave them a first-half masterclass in passing and movement.
Villa had been billed as the team to put pressure on Chelsea's unbeaten home league record, with the pace of Gabriel Agbonlahor and Ashley Young enough to trouble most sides.
As it was, Branislav Ivanovic went untroubled on his league debut as most of the action was ahead of him.
John Terry, partnering the Serbian in central defence, said before the match that he wanted to play even if it was on one leg - and he probably could have done that in the first half, such was Chelsea's dominance.
Friedel's busy afternoon in goal for Villa started with two early saves.
The first effort was from Michael Ballack, who fizzed a drive from 25 yards, then Florent Malouda had a go from the left flank at a similar distance.
Frank Lampard had the first clear opening of the game, in the 18th minute, when Anelka found him with a cross, only for the England midfielder to head wide.
Lampard, however, set up the opener three minutes later after Curtis Davies' clearance fell to Malouda. Malouda slipped the ball inside to Lampard, who in turn helped it on to midfielder Cole.
Cole took one touch and lashed his finish past Friedel and inside the near post, his third of the season.
Anelka could have doubled the lead when he cracked a drive from 30 yards but his effort smashed against the crossbar - starting the onslaught on Friedel's goal.
The American goalkeeper parried a Lampard free-kick and also denied Malouda with another skidding drive.
He also made a double save in the 43rd minute, but could not prevent Anelka tapping in the rebound. Ashley Cole had crossed from the left, Ballack's drive and Anelka's follow up were saved - but the Frenchman made sure with his next effort.
It was Anelka's last contribution as he was taken off at the break for Di Santo, while Villa took off Davies and Luke Young, with James Milner and Carlos Cuellar coming on.
Stiliyan Petrov did have an effort saved by Petr Cech - but then there was more attacking from Chelsea.
Worryingly for England boss Fabio Capello, who was watching from the stands, was the sight of Terry dropping his shorts for treatment on his back.
Then midfielder Cole picked up his apparent foot injury and hobbled down the tunnel, with Salomon Kalou taking his place.
Wastefulness from Ballack at close range, then a brave block from Friedel to deny Kalou, kept the score down. Kalou also had an overhead strike disallowed for offside - and another goal would not have flattered the hosts.

The home side had raced into a two-goal lead in the first half through Stephen Ireland and Javier Garrido.
Fernando Torres pulled a goal back before City's Pablo Zabaleta was sent off.
The momentum was then with Liverpool with Torres adding a second before Kuyt, who was guilty of a shocking earlier miss, having the final word.
Liverpool almost went ahead as early as the fourth minute when Albert Riera got a good touch and goalkeeper Joe Hart had to look alert to turn his effort around the post.
The visitors kept up the pressure and launched a swift counter-attack in the 15th minute. Javier Mascherano, who was preferred to Robbie Keane tried to send Steven Gerrard clear.
However Shaun Wright-Phillips showed his defensive qualities to get in a crucial challenge.
Three minutes later Kuyt should have put Liverpool ahead only to sky his shot over the top in front of the post after Riera had set up the opening.
City made the breakthrough a minute later thanks to Ireland's third goal of the season.
Wright-Phillips did well to cut the ball back from the by-line but it seemed to get stuck under Robinho's feet.
However it eventually fell to Ireland and the ever-improving midfielder rifled an unstoppable shot into the corner.
Whenever Liverpool did break forward City were defending in numbers from front to back.
Xabi Alonso tried his luck from distance in the 38th minute but Hart was equal to his effort.
City extended their lead three minutes later after Wright-Phillips was bundled over Riera, who had a spell on loan at Eastlands.
Garrido stepped up and sent a superb free-kick over a stunned Reina for his first goal for the club.
However it was game on the 56th minute with Liverpool pulling a goal back through Torres.
England midfielder Steven Gerrard, a subdued figure in the first half, began the move by releasing Alvaro Arbeloa.
He skipped to the byline before delivering a cross into the path of Torres, who scored from close range.
It was the Spain striker's fourth goal of the league campaign and came on the back of his brace in the victory over Everton.
This was now a test of character for City, whose own form in the domestic campaign has been a little bit inconsistent.
However they hit back and Wright-Phillips skipped down the wing in the 65th minute, leaving Liverpool players trailing in his wake.
He picked out Robinho but he was unable to test Reina, his effort going over the bar.
The game took a dramatic twist in the 68th minute when City were reduced to 10 men.
Zabaleta was sent off by referee Peter Walton for what the official deemed as a two-footed lunge on Alonso, who needed brief treatment.
Keane was introduced at the expense of Mascherano in the 72nd minute and a minute later Liverpool were level.
Torres peeled away from his marker as Gerrard swung in the corner and thumped home a header.
He had a chance of completing his hat-trick in the 82nd minute only to send his effort at the back post wide of the target.
Kuyt then secured the points in stoppage time, smashing the ball high into the net after Torres' shot had bobbled off Dunne and into his path
.
Portugal beat Malta 4-0 in its opening qualifier but then was upset at home 3-2 by Denmark and is fourth in Group A.
Ronaldo hasn't featured since undergoing ankle surgery after the European Championship.
"It's great to be back in the national squad," Ronaldo said on the Portuguese Football Federation's Web site. "These are two important games we want to win. We have an excellent group of players and coaches and I'm very optimistic."
Inter Milan winger Ricardo Quaresma also returns after missing the first two qualifiers.
Queiroz, who took charge in July, also called up Deco even though the Chelsea playmaker is still recovering from a torn thigh muscle. Atletico Madrid's Maniche is also in doubt because of a back injury.
Winger Simao Sabrosa and central defender Ricardo Carvalho are both sidelined due to knee injuries. Sporting Lisbon's Tonel won his third call-up to provide cover for the central defense.
Portugal has beaten Sweden only three times in 13 encounters. It has won all three of its previous games against Albania.

Manchester United have received a double dose of good news with Paul Scholes and Darren Fletcher agreeing new contracts.
Scholes has signed a one-year deal, while Fletcher has committed himself to Old Trafford for a further three seasons.
It is a show of faith from Sir Alex Ferguson in the abilities of Scholes given the former England star, who celebrates his 34th birthday next month, has just been ruled out for 10 weeks with a knee injury.
In his own typically understated way, Scholes, who has overcome a serious eye injury that three years ago threatened his career, expressed his satisfaction at remaining with what seems certain to be his only professional club.
"It is great to sign a new deal," he said.
"Last season was fantastic but you always want to achieve more and with this team we are capable of doing just that."
Like Scholes, Fletcher is a one-club man.
Although he has rarely been a member of Ferguson's first-choice side, he is an invaluable figure in the United squad.
Denied his debut as a 16-year-old because he was still at school, Fletcher was heavily linked with a move to Birmingham last season, where he could have joined old Scotland boss Alex McLeish.
However, the 24-year-old chose to stay at Old Trafford, where his value was emphasised at the start of this season when he scored against Newcastle before getting the vital winner at Portsmouth.
"Darren is in the same vein as Paul, Ryan Giggs and Wes Brown in that he is a long-serving member of the team," said Ferguson.
"His consistency and level-headed approach is a great attribute and we are all delighted he has signed a new contract."
Fletcher added: "When you play at such a great club with a great team you always want to be a part of that.
"The spirit here is amazing and I am happy that I can play my part in achieving more success."
Glenmuir beat Garvey 2-0 in top clash |
BY PAUL A REID Observer Writer reidp@jamaicaobserver.com Sunday, September 28, 2008 |
YORK TOWN, Clarendon - Former champions Glenmuir High snapped a four-game winless streak against defending ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup schoolboy champions Garvey Maceo High with a 2-0 win in the feature Zone I game at York Town Community Centre yesterday.
National players Jon-Ross Doyley and Shavar Brown scored for Glenmuir, who were winning for the third straight outing. On the other hand Garvey Maceo crashed to their first back-to-back defeat for the first time in over five years after going down 0-1 to Old Harbour earlier in the week.
Garvey dropped to third place in the group as Old Harbour edged Tacius Golding to move to eight points - two behind the leaders and two more than Garvey.

Garvey Maceo, Glenmuir clash highlights daCosta Cup fixtures |
PAUL A REID, Observer writer reidp@jamaicaobserver.com Saturday, September 27, 2008 |
MAY PEN, Clarendon - The Zone I clash between defending champions Garvey Maceo and former champions Glenmuir High at the York Town Community Centre will highlight a massive 35-game schedule in the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup rural area schoolboys' football competition today.
The game between two of the better prepared teams will be a repeat of last season's final, and also between the last two winners of the competition.
Five other schools, led by former champions Rusea's High, will seek to extend perfect win records, while there will be one of the oldest rivalries in schoolboy football, St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) hosting Munro in Zone E in Santa Cruz.
At York Town, Zone I leaders Glenmuir will be seeking their first win over the champions in four meetings, dating back to the 2005 season.
On their way to the rural area double last year, Garvey Maceo went unbeaten against the Jackie Walters-coached team, drawing the first game before edging them 1-0 in the return match.
Both games between the Clarendon schools in the 2006 season ended in draws after Glenmuir had won the previous three games by an aggregate 10-1 margin.
Garvey Maceo are coming off their first loss in Zone I in 18 games after been ambushed 1-0 by Old Harbour at Soya Oval on Wednesday, while Glenmuir were cruising to a 3-1 win over Central High.
Rusea's High, Manchester High, Lennon, St Mary High and Paul Bogle High will go into this afternoon's round of games with perfect win records.
Rusea's, who won the last of their eight titles in 2002, will play away to a struggling Frome Technical team at the Frome Sports Club.
The teams have spilt their four games over the last two seasons, each winning once each year, but Rusea's have been off to a fast start this season, scoring 14 goals and conceding two in their four wins.
Frome have scored 11 goals in their five games, but have conceded six while losing twice and will have their work cut out against a confident Rusea's team today.
Manchester High are off to another fast start this season and will be trying to match last year's start when they won their first five games.
Today they will play away to a DeCarteret College team that has managed just three goals in three games and trail Manchester High by six points.
Lennon are off to their best start ever, winning their first three games, scoring 11 goals and overshadowing the better known schools such as former champions Clarendon College and Vere Technical, who they will host today.
Lennon were unbeaten against Vere last season and after beating Clarendon College last Saturday, will fancy their chances to get win number four today.
St Mary High and Paul Bogle are also riding a wave, winning their first four matches this season, but will have tough encounters today against St Mary Technical and St Thomas Technical, respectively.
St Mary Technical lost their perfect record on Wednesday when they drew 0-0 against Iona and are two points behind the leaders.
Paul Bogle have scored eight goals in their four games and are yet to concede any, but will face second-placed St Thomas Technical who have scored 10 goals while letting in just one.
The STETHS vs Munro rivalry is one of the most highly anticipated clashes on the schoolboys schedule and today's game is expected to be keenly contested.
Munro are in second place on 10 points from four games, trailing leaders Lacovia by three points, while STETHS are in third place.
Munro have won the last three regular season games against STETHS without conceding a goal, but will go up against the most prolific offence in the competition with 24 goals scored so far.
Munro have conceded just one goal, while scoring a paltry six goals in comparison to their rivals.
Cornwall College who are coming off a shock 0-1 loss to Irwin High will host Montego Bay rivals Herbert Morrison at Jarrett Park and need to win to stay in touch with the leaders.
St James High, who play away to the suddenly dangerous Irwin High, lead on goal difference over Maldon who will be idle.
Today's schedule
Zone A - Cornwall vs Herbert Morrison, Irwin vs St James, Spot Valley vs Maldon.
Zone B - Anchovy vs Hopewell at Herbert Morrison, Frome vs Rusea's, Green Island vs Merlene Ottey.
Zone C - Petersfield vs Grange Hill, Godfrey Stewart vs Mannings.
Zone D - York Castle vs Aabuthnott Gallimore, Ocho Rios vs Marcus Garvey.
Zone E - Maggotty vs BB Coke, STETHS vs Munro, Black River vs Balaclava.
Zone F - DeCarteret College vs Manchester, Belair vs Porus, Bellefield vs Cross Keys.
Zone G - Christian vs Holmwood, Spalding vs Knox, Mile Gully vs Edwin Allen.
Zone H - Lennon vs Vere, Clarendon College vs Claude McKay.
Zone I - Kemps Hill vs Central High, Glenmuir vs Garvey Maceo, Tacius Golding vs Old Harbour.
Zone J - McGrath vs Dinthill, Bog Walk vs Ewarton, Charlemont vs Glengoffe.
Zone K - St Mary Technical vs St Mary High, Tacky vs Iona, Annotto Bay vs Islington.
Zone L(a) - Fair Prospect vs Buff Bay, Titchfield vs Happy Grove.
Zone L(b) - Robert Lightbourne vs Seaforth, Yallahs vs Morant Bay, Paul Bogle vs St Thomas Technical.
All the goals came in an action-packed opening 22 minutes at the Vicente Calderon, with strikes from Sergio Aguero and Raul Garcia for the home side sandwiching an equaliser from Mamadou Niang.
The victory gives Atletico a maximum points haul following their 3-0 mauling of PSV Eindhoven, while Marseille now have a mountain to climb having also lost their opening game at home to Liverpool.
Crowd disturbances prior to the match in the section where the Marseille fans were located threatened to overshadow the football, with confrontations between riot police and the visiting fans lasting for around 10 minutes.
But once that incident had calmed down - there was no more obvious trouble inside the stadium during the game - it was the players that took centre stage in an entertaining encounter in the Spanish capital.
Marseille forward Mathieu Valbuena set the scene in the first 20 seconds with an unchecked run forward and low shot that fizzed just wide of the far post.
That would have been a nightmare start for Atletico in their first home Champions League group clash in over a decade, but the Rojiblancos responded superbly with the opening goal from Aguero.
Maxi Rodriguez chipped a pass over the top and his fellow Argentinian Aguero did the rest, neatly pulling the ball down before slipping inside his marker and drilling a low shot past Steve Mandanda.
That goal came in the fourth minute and it was almost 2-0 soon after when Aguero found himself clean through, but his attempted lob over Mandanda was saved at the expense of a corner.
Both teams seemed intent on attacking from the off and, after both had gone close, it was no real surprise to see Marseille equalise in the 14th minute through Niang.
Laurent Bonnart did well to get to the goalline before dinking a cross to the far post where Niang powered home a header past Leo Franco.
Parity lasted just eight minutes though before Atletico found themselves back in front.
A scything challenge by Taye Taiwo on Aguero near the touchline earned Atletico a free-kick, from which Mariano Pernia's low cross was diverted in by Garcia at the far post.
The game settled down after that, although both sides still seemed more inclined to go forward and Niang almost drew Marseille level just before the break with a long-range effort that Leo Franco did superbly to tip away.
Marseille suffered a blow at the start of the second half when they lost Hatem Ben Arfa to injury, and Eric Gerets' side then almost found themselves 3-1 down when Maxi's clever back-heel drifted just wide of the far post with Mandanda beaten.
Atletico held the upper hand and Mandanda had to produce heroics to tip over Florent Sinama-Pongolle's 20-yard effort as the home side pushed hard for a third goal.
Marseille were not without their chances though, and Valbuena spun well on the edge of the box before drilling a shot just wide.
The French outfit were finding chances hard to come by in the closing stages, but Niang went close from the edge of the box before Taiwo headed a corner wide when perhaps he should have done better.
That injury-time chance from Taiwo proved to be Marseille's final effort on goal and Atletico were left to celebrate what could prove to be a vital wiThe Italian side were dreadful in the opening hour of a scrappy match and deservedly went behind when Yoann Gourcuff curled home a superb 20-yarder in the 15th minute.
But the contest turned on the 36th-minute sending-off of Les Girondins centre-back Henrique, for a sly elbow on Simone Perrotta, and Roma eventually woke from their torpor.
Mirko Vucinic levelled matters just after the hour mark and substitute Baptista bagged a brace in the final 20 minutes to seal the win at the Stade Chaban-Delmas.
The victory will come as a relief to the Eternal City side, who were stunned 2-1 by Cluj in their opening pool match, but qualifying already looks bleak for Bordeaux, thrashed 4-0 by Chelsea a fortnight ago and still without a point.
It was all Les Girondins until Henrique saw red, and even into the second half.
Desperate to avenge their heavy defeat at Stamford Bridge, they shot out of the blocks and Jussie should have done better when he shot straight at goalkeeper Alexander Doni from 12 yards out.
Gourcuff, who excelled for France in their World Cup qualifier against Serbia last month, dragged a left-foot effort wide in the 14th minute but he had more success moments later.
He collected a pass from Jussie, cut inside and unleashed a powerful curling shot from 20 yards that found the far corner from the angle.
However, the game was turned on its head when Bordeaux were hit by a double *u*ker-punch.
Seconds after Jussie was forced to withdraw with what appeared to be a thigh injury, Henrique was given his marching orders when - at his own team's free-kick - he floored Perrotta with an elbow as he fought for space.
Gabriel Obertan, lively up until then, was sacrificed for defender Marc Planus and Bordeaux were prepared to sit back and defend their lead.
Just before the break, they even came close to doubling their advantage when Wendel headed Gourcuff's cross just wide.
The heavens opened for the start of the second half but Roma were struggling to get a grip on proceedings despite their numerical superiority.
Baptista came on for fellow forward Jeremy Menez but his team-mates lost possession time and again and Bordeaux were coping comfortably.
The visitors' 64th-minute equaliser, therefore, came completely out of the blue.
Following a rare foray forward, Daniele De Rossi whipped in a near-post corner and Vucinic beat marker Souleymane Diawara to the ball to head home with goalkeeper Mathieu Valverde stranded in no man's land.
The Italians started to swarm all over the tiring Les Girondins and the second goal arrived seven minutes later, Baptista stepping up and curling a delightful free-kick over the wall and into the corner.
It was harsh on Bordeaux, who continued to work hard in tough conditions and Fernando sent in a set-piece that just missed Doni's far post.
However Baptista made the game safe for his side by getting on the end of Rodrigo Taddei's volleyed cross to slide home a well-taken finish.

Despite Frank Lampard's best efforts, Chelsea could not break down the resilient CFR Cluj rearguard - and the battling Romanian double winners were good value for their draw.
Cluj are enjoying a dream debut season in the Champions League, having opened their campaign with a 2-1 win over Roma a fortnight ago, and they now sit level with Chelsea on top of Group A.
The stands shook as the Transylvanian locals greeted the teams by stamping their feet and unfurling a giant image of striker Juan Culio, who scored both goals in Rome, dressed as Dracula and tying a Cluj scarf around Big Ben.
Goalkeeper Petr Cech was called into action in the opening minute to beat Cluj midfielder Sebastian Dubarbier to a dangerous through ball.
Salomon Kalou scuffed Chelsea's first shot on goal, but it came from a promising build-up as Lampard linked neatly with Drogba on the edge of the Cluj box.
John Terry and Mikel John Obi made a hash of clearing a long punt forward but were let off the hook when Yssof Kone tried to lob Cech from 30 yards and floated his effort harmlessly over the bar.
It was a sign of things to come in the first half as Mikel struggled to dominate a limited Cluj central midfield, and Chelsea carelessly conceded possession.
When Florent Malouda did just that, Cluj raced forward - and Chelsea appeared vulnerable only for Culio to pick out Dubarbier in an off-side position.
Lampard was trying to conjure something up for Chelsea. Jose Bosingwa was a regular target down the right flank, but Cluj covered him well.
The Romanians then stepped up the intensity, forcing Chelsea on to the back foot as Alvaro Pereira repeatedly surged forward from left-back.
Periera slipped a pass to Kone, who lofted his cross over Terry's head and towards Eugen Trica. The midfielder attempted a spectacular volley but managed little more than an air shot.
Pereira then launched another incisive Cluj attack, halted only by Bosingwa's vital last-ditch tackle on the Uruguayan inside the Chelsea box.
Pereira charged forward again to meet Trica's lay-off, but his low drive flashed across Cech's goal and just wide.
Nicolas Anelka was sent on in place of Kalou at half-time as Chelsea switched to two up front and immediately looked more dangerous.
Bosingwa almost picked out Drogba, and Anelka then clipped a short ball towards Lampard at the near post - which the England midfielder could not quite squeeze home.
But Chelsea's change in formation did not last long. Drogba threw himself at a wicked low cross from Malouda but appeared to damage his knee in the challenge with Andre Souza and was carried off just before the hour.
Franco di Santo was sent on in place of Malouda with 20 minutes remaining and almost headed Chelsea ahead with his first touch of the ball after stealing in unnoticed at the near post. Lampard headed the ball through for Anelka, who had just strayed offside but was then booked for high feet on the Cluj goalkeeper Eduard Stancioiu.
Cluj grew in confidence in the closing stages - and when Alex missed a long clearance, once again Chelsea were thankful Cech was alert to race off his line and beat Kone to the ball.
Trica cleverly worked himself some room on the edge of the Chelsea area and ignored Culio unmarked to the left and attempted to curl an effort into the top corner - which flew inches wide. After Juliano Belletti flashed a shot wide, Pereira launched another run from deep, linked with Kone and forced Cech to tip his shot around the post.
Back-to-back games with Atletico Madrid now follow, and after the Spanish side's win over Marseille, those matches will almost certainly decide who wins the group.
Liverpool have won their first two group matches for the first time, and cruised to victory.
Robbie Keane scored his first goal for the club after 11 blank games since his Ł20million move from Tottenham, and Gerrard smashed home the third to grab his century of Liverpool goals.
And Dirk Kuyt got in on the act with his 10th goal in 16 Champions League games for the club.
But frankly, Liverpool never got out of second gear against the outclassed Dutch champions.
Benitez recalled Fabio Aurelio to left-back in place of Andrea Dossena, the only change from the side that won the Merseyside derby at Everton on Saturday.
It mean Javier Mascherano was left on the bench - despite recovering from a calf injury - for the manager's 250th game in control at Anfield.
PSV made three changes from side that beat Eredivisie bottom club Volendam at the weekend, with striker Danny Koevermans sacrificed for extra defensive strength.
Nordin Amrabat, Jason Culina and Otman Bakkal came into a side that included former Liverpool defender Jan Kromkamp.
With their side previously unbeaten this term, it was no surprise that there was an air of expectation around Anfield, and after four minutes the Kop got the start they wanted.
Gerrard's first corner, from the right, was met by a Fernando Torres first-time shot. He was criminally unmarked with Jeremie Brechet hopelessly adrift of his prey.
Somehow Andreas Isaksson blocked the Spaniard's effort, only for Dirk Kuyt to ram home the rebound from 10 yards.
Xabi Alonso tried another of his trademark 60-yard efforts, with Isaksson having to back-track to catch the ball, before Keane had a good penalty shout turned down when he was caught by Carlos Salcido.
Kuyt tested Isaksson again, this time with a 20-yard effort on the turn that the former Manchester City goalkeeper held low to his left.
Torres then headed wide from an Aurelio corner, before setting up Keane for his first Liverpool goal.
It came after 34 minutes when Kuyt's hard work sent Torres away down the right. When the low cross arrived in the box, it was met by Keane first-time, his shot speeding into the far bottom corner of the net.
Anfield erupted, Keane having finally netted on his 11th appearance for the club. His joy was obvious as he was mobbed by his colleagues.
PSV needed to do better after the break to rescue some pride. They brought on young defender Erik Peters for Jeremie Brechet, and at last started to come forward with some conviction.
Bakkal saw a 25-yard shot fizz just wide, before Salcido's tackle on Torres sent the Spaniard spinning to the turf, and a hush fell over the stadium until he struggled painfully to his feet.Amrabat, who had battled away bravely on his own in attack, then unleashed a fierce 20-yard effort which thudded just wide.
Torres should have ended the debate after 65 minutes when Kromkamp's wayward pass put him clear - but his flick past Isaksson drifted inches wide of the far post. The game was seemingly meandering to an inevitable conclusion, with Yossi Benayoun now on for Riera.
Gerrard was the next to try his luck, lifting a shot over from just outside the box, before Lucas replaced Keane. Dirk Marcellis was booked for a foul on Torres, and that paved the way for Gerrard to grab his 100th goal for Liverpool after 75 minutes, smashing a fierce 25-yarder past Isaksson, to the acclaim of the Kop.
But PSV hit back three minutes later, when substitute Balazs Dzsudzsak crossed from the right. The ball cleared Jamie Carragher to allow Koevermans to get to it ahead of Skrtel, and he headed past Jose Reina from 10 yards.
Ryan Babel replaced Gerrard with nine minutes to go - and the Reds comfortably saw out the closing stages of the match.
Ronaldinho scored his first goal for the Rossoneri in the 36th minute and his goal proved to be enough to down the defending champions.
Inter lost Nicolas Burdisso to a red card in the 77th minute while Marco Materazzi was also sent to the stands from the Inter bench after protesting vociferously in a fiery end to the match in front of 80,000 fans at the San Siro.
It was a very tight beginning to the 269th Milan derby with the fear of falling behind prevailing over the ambition to go ahead.
It was not until the 14th minute that the first shot on goal arrived with Gianluca Zambrotta drilling a left-footed strike over the bar from 25 yards.
Inter's best chance fell to Zlatan Ibrahimovic three minutes later, but his control from Maicon's pass took the ball just too close to Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati.
Milan's Brazilian connection then moved up the gears as Ronaldinho and Kaka were both involved to set up Pato for a shot which Maicon blocked.
Ronaldinho then exchanged passes with Kaka twice with the latter pulling the ball back from the goal line for the former to volley at Brazil number one Julio Cesar, who pushed the ball behind for a corner.
Pato was adjudged to be offside when Zambrotta lifted the ball over the Inter defence in the 35th minute and Inter were claiming another offside which did not arrive in the build-up to the opening goal seconds later.
Ronaldinho sent a long ball into the path of Kaka, who seemed to be level with the last Inter defender when he started his run which culminated in a cross into the middle where Ronaldinho headed powerfully into the top right-hand corner.
Just before half-time Kaka appealed for a penalty when he was blocked by Javier Zanetti after yet another slick c****ination with Ronaldinho.
Mourinho waited just 10 minutes into the second half before making a tactical change with midweek match-winner Julio Cruz replacing defender Materazzi and Adriano taking the place of Mancini in an adventurous four-man attack for the Nerazzurri.
It worked against Lecce on Wednesday when Inter even had five strikers on the field, but Milan proved to be of a different calibre and to make matters worse, the visitors lost Nicola Burdisso to a second yellow card for a foul on Kaka in the 77th minute.
They risked ending the game with even fewer players as they lost their patience with referee Emidio Morganti after he failed to see Mathieu Flamini elbow Adriano inside the penalty area.
Mourinho was warned by Morganti, who showed a red card to Materazzi on the bench as he continued his protests.
All that could have made Mourino's evening worse would have been a goal from Andriy Shevchenko and he almost obliged two minutes from time, firing a shot just over the bar from 10 yards.
Adriano could have snatched a point at the death but he headed wide with only Abbiati to beat in stoppage time.
AS Roma gave their stuttering Serie A campaign a boost when they beat in-form Atalanta 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, while Mauro Zarate scored a brace as city rivals Lazio went top with a 3-1 win at Torino.
Roma defender Christian Panucci opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a shot that took a sharp deflection from Atalanta's Thomas Manfredini on the way into the net.
Montenegro striker Mirko Vucinic swivelled to hammer in a deflected Jeremy Menez cross and make it 2-0 in the 32nd.
Last year's runners-up Roma, without several unfit regulars including captain Francesco Totti, resisted sustained pressure in the second half to claim a win that gives them seven points from five games.
Lazio have five points more after Goran Pandev set them on their way in Turin by driving a loose ball into the bottom corner on the half hour.
Argentine forward Zarate wrapped things up in the second half, rifling in from outside the box and converting a late penalty for his sixth goal in five games.
Torino, who finished the match with nine men after keeper Matteo Sereni was sent off for fouling Cristian Brocchi to concede the penalty and Francesco Pratali went for a second yellow, pulled one back with a stoppage-time Nicola Amoruso penalty.
Napoli are second with 11 points after they won 1-0 at Bologna with a German Denis goal three minutes from time.

AC Milan | 1 : 0 Final | Inter Milan |
Ilsinho had given Shakhtar the lead just before the interval.
It was the second straight game that Messi rescued Barcelona in the final minutes. He also gave the Catalan team its third straight Spanish league victory on Saturday by converting an injury-time penalty for a 2-1 win at local rival Espanyol.
"It was a tough and complicated game," Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola said. "They (Donetsk) attacked good and had a good result."
Shakhtar is slogging through one of its worst-ever starts in the Ukrainian league, with nine points in as many games.
Barcelona pressed from the beginning and dominated possession throughout the first half, though rarely threatening the home side.
Samuel Eto'o put Tierry Henry through in the seventh minute for the team's first real opportunity, but Pyatov blocked the shot from inside the box.
Shakhtar first came close in the 24th, when Fernandinho fired over the crossbar from inside the box. Brandao then moved down the left flank in the 37th and crossed to Ilsinho, but the Brazilian's shot was deflected over the crossbar by Viktor Valdes' outstretched left leg.
Donetsk pressed before the interval and Ilsinho broke through two defenders to score over Valdes in the 45th.
Barcelona dominated in the second half while Shakhtar replied with rare counterattacks.
"We had a good game and created 15 chances," Shakhtar coach Mircea Lucescu said.
In the other Group C game, Sporting won at FC Basel 2-0.
Barcelona leads the group with six points, followed by sporting with four. Shakhtar has three and FC Basel is winless.
Shakhtar hosts Sporting next and Barcelona will be at FC Basel on Oct. 22.

STGC, XLCR clash in Manning Cup |
Howard Walker Monday, September 29, 2008 |
High-riding St George's College tackle Excelsior High in a top-of-the-table Group E clash at Winchester Park at 3:30 pm today.
Both teams are on maximum 12 points, with Excelsior on top based on their superior goal difference.
The 'Light Blues' have rattled up an impressive 18 goals from four games while conceding seven, with Excelsior notching 13 for and one against for a plus 12 difference.
The Neville 'Bertis' Bell-coached boys brushed aside Dunoon Technical 5-2, whipped Greater Portmore 5-0, edged Camperdown 3-2 and rallied from two goals down to beat Ardenne 5-3.
Meanwhile, Excelsior, back-to-back winners in 2003 and 2004, have been quietly getting the job done.
The Lebert Halliman-coached boys from Mountain View blanked Greater Portmore 3-0, clipped Camperdown 1-0, defeated Ardenne 3-1 and thrashed Dunoon 6-0.
Both Excelsior and St George's are six points ahead of the chasing pack and today's result will more than likely determine the group winner, although they have the return games to play.
Dunoon Technical will be trying to keep pace with the leaders with a win over Camperdown, while Ardenne should secure their second win over Greater Portmore.
In Group A, Charlie Smith should rebound from their 2-4 whipping by Tivoli Gardens and dispatch Tarrant in style.
The Spanish Town/Tivoli Gardens encounter should be close and can go either way.
Former champions Calabar are expected to defeat Group B leaders Waterford and close the gap significantly.
Waterford lead the group with 11 points from four games, having beaten St Mary's College 1-0, Pembroke Hall 2-1, Donald Quarrie 2-1 and Ascot 1-0.
Calabar are on six points from two games with massive 5-0 wins over Ascot and Donald Quarrie.
Their games against St Mary's College and Pembroke Hall were not played for various reasons.
With that in mind, Calabar are eager to show who is boss in this group and based on how easily they won those two games, plus Waterford's performances against the same opponents, Calabar should be confident of victory.

Allen bags four-timer in big Wolmer's win |
BY KAYON RAYNOR Senior staff reporter raynork@jamaicaobserver.com Sunday, September 28, 2008 |
CLAUDE Allen netted four times to lead pre-season favourites Wolmer's Boys' to a 7-0 whipping of Denham Town High in their Group C Manning Cup football match at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex yesterday.
Denham Town had two players - Cladius Thomas (69th) and Glenor McDonald (73rd) - ejected, but Wolmer's were by then comfortably leading 6-0.
In fact, the Heroe's Circle-based school scored four times inside the first 20 minutes of the match.
Allen opened his account in the 10th minute from the penalty spot after Denham Town defender, Dominic Hunter, was adjudged to have handled the ball in the 18-yard box.
A minute later, Ateba Morgan dribbled past two defenders before curving a right-footer into the far corner of the net, out of the reach of goalkeeper Yusef Brown.
Morgan played the role of provider in the 16th minute, finding the unmarked Allen at the far post with an accurate cross from the right flank, which the latter tapped into an empty net.
Three minutes later, Allen completed his hat-trick by out-jumping his marker to head home a right-sided cross from Nicholai Holness.
Denham Town's David Biggs was denied a goal in the 44th minute as Wolmer's goalie Jason Lewis parried his 25-yard free-kick for a corner.
The second half started much like the first, with the Wolmerians toying with their rivals' frail defensive set-up before extending their lead to 5-0.
Midfielder Ashani Brown, who had a trial stint with English Premier League side Sunderland FC earlier this year, displayed good close skills to beat two defenders in the box before placing his effort inside the near post in the 56th minute.
Allen netted his fourth and Wolmer's sixth in the 60th by latching onto a defence-splitting pass from Brown and burying his effort to the left of the diving Denham Town goalie.
Substitute Omar Holness completed the rout with seven minutes remaining after turning his marker inside the 18-yard box and placing to the far corner.
Yesterday's victory was the biggest of the season for Wolmer's following their 6-0 triumph over Mona High last week.
In yesterday's other Group C results Jamaica College beat Vauxhall 2-1, while Mona High and Jonathan Grant High played to a 0-0 draw.
In Group D, Bridgeport High edged Innswood 1-0; Eltham stopped Jose Marti 1-0, while St Jago and Cumberland drew 0-0.
Elsewhere, St Andrew Technical blanked Kingston High 2-0; Kingston College whipped St Catherine 6-0, while Edith Dalton-James got the better of Penwood High 2-0 in Group F.
Arnett, W'House in sizzling DPL clash |
By Howard Walker Observer staff reporter walkerh@jamaicaobserver.com Sunday, September 28, 2008 |
Former champions Arnett Gardens and Waterhouse will square-off in the feature Digicel Premier League (DPL) at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex this afternoon, starting at 4:00.

In the other games, Portmore United travel to Village; Meadhaven host Harbour View; Rivoli United welcome Sporting Central Academy to Prison Oval; Reno tackle Boys' Town and St George's play Tivoli Gardens.
A couple of seasons ago an Arnett Gardens/Waterhouse encounter would have been a mouth-watering affair worth going miles to see. Although Arnett have been struggling from last season and Waterhouse have lost some of their glamour players, this fixture remains the biggest game of the round.
Arnett are one of two teams without a point after two games - with the other being Rivoli United - but have been playing some decent football and could explode any time.
The Trench Town side lost 0-1 to Boys' Town and Portmore United in the earlier rounds and are due to get off the mark.
They seemed a bit short up front with the burden of attack left on the shoulders of Kevin 'Pele' Wilson.
Fabian Nethersole and Germaine Miller will have to fill the void left vacant by Leon Irving, who got injured in the first game, and the speedy Kwame Richardson, who is still recovering from a long-term injury.
Top defender Craig White has been missing from training since the first game and will miss the opportunity to play against his former club, Waterhouse.
Another former Waterhouse stalwart, Desmond Breakenridge, will face his old team and will marshall Arnett's backline, along with Anthowe Dawkins and Arujan Brown.
Waterhouse are bubbling with confidence after opening their DPL account with a 1-0 away win against Rivoli United to be on four points and in fourth spot, and will be aiming to stay with the leaders.
The Drewsland outfit are still a formidable team with the likes of irvino English, Kenardo Forbes, Richard McCullum, Roberto Fletcher, Jermaine Anderson, Marco McDonald and Oneil Thomas.
Last season, Waterhouse and Arnett Gardens met three times in the league with the former wining the first encounter, 4-2, and the other games ending in 1-1 and 0-0 stalemates.
Today's clash should be another close affair with Waterhouse having the edge. However, Arnett Gardens are like the proverbial wounded predator and could secure their first win of the season.
Meanwhile, defending champions and leader, Portmore United, should notch their third consecutive win against Village United at Jarrett Park.
The likes of Stevn Morrissey, Carlington Smith, Ricardo Cousins, Eric Vernon, Kevin Deerr, Omar Campbell, Anthony Modeste, Shawn Sawyers, Tyrone Sawyers should prove too hot for Village to handle.
Another interesting game should be between newcomers Meadhaven and former champions Harbour View. Meadhaven have surprised many pundits after being held to a 1-1 and 2-2 draws by Tivoli and Sporting Central.
The Alrick Clarke-coached boys are still hunting their first win in the top flight, but Harbour View wouldn't want that dubious distinction of losing to the rookies to befall them.
Reno FC will be hoping for their first win, also against Boys' Town; likewise St George's over Tivoli Gardens.
TVJ secures exclusive Olympics DVD deal with IOC |
Sunday, September 28, 2008 |
Television Jamaica (TVJ) yesterday announced that it had secured from the International Olympics Committee (IOC) the exclusive right to produce and market a DVD with highlights of the station's Beijing 2008 Olympic Games coverage.
The deal also provides TVJ with the exclusive right to distribute the DVD throughout the English-speaking Caribbean, a news release from the television station said.
"We are delighted that Jamaicans will soon be able to purchase the limited edition, collector's item titled Gold Rush: Jamaica's 2008 Olympic Athletics Show," said TVJ General Manager Kay Osborne.
"There is an overwhelming demand for the DVD from companies that want to purchase copies as gifts for their clients and for promotional purposes and from individuals who want to purchase copies for their own collection and to give as gifts to friends and family overseas who were unable to watch the action live on TVJ."
According to TVJ, the DVD will contain real time and slow motion replay footage of athletic events in which Jamaicans reached the finals, as well as footage of athletes' celebratory activities after their races, medal and flag raising presentations, and footage of joyous Jamaicans celebrating in the streets of Jamaica, in their homes and at various sports locations.
"The production and sale of the DVD is a natural extension of TVJ's memorable, high quality 'In Pursuit of Gold' Olympics coverage," the station said.
The DVD footage, the release added, will include Usain Bolt's astonishing world-record performances, gold medal performances of Shelly-Ann Fraser, Veronica Campbell-Brown and Melanie Walker, the performance of Jamaica's 4 x 100m relay team with Bolt on the third leg and former world record holder Asafa Powell on the anchor, and the silver medal performances of Kerron Stewart and Sherone Simpson.
TVJ said that its sales team will begin taking DVD orders from corporate clients on October 3, the day the official homecoming celebrations planned by the Government begin.
"TVJ will begin broadcasting retail sales information on this date as well," the release said, adding that part proceeds from the sale of the DVD will benefit Jamaican sports charities.
Portmore blank Arnett 3-0 in U-21 |

PORTMORE United blanked Arnett Gardens 3-0 in their ill-tempered Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Under-21 encounter at the Tony Spaulding Sports Complex yesterday to register their second win in as many games.
Both teams ended the game with nine players on the field.
Portmore were by far the better team as they toyed with the disorganised Arnett unit, scoring three unanswered goals within the first hour, despite playing with 10 men since the 43rd minute.
Striker Carnelius Henry, who opened the scoring in the 12th minute by tapping home a Dorrian Douglas' right-sided cross from four yards, was the first player to be ejected in minute 43 after receiving a second yellow card.
Portmore's coach Desmond Smith was also ejected from his technical area for offensive and insulting language to the referee, following Henry's red card.
Arnett, who arrived at the venue late, despite being the host, never looked equal to the task, soaking up much pressure before midfielder Tremaine Stewart increased Portmore's lead in the 33rd minute.
The former August Town premiership player scored a scorcher on the half-volley from a tight angle after Henry had beaten his marker down the left flank to supply an inch perfect cross.
Looking like the better physically prepared team in addition to playing the better tactical game, Portmore secured maximum points in the 53rd minute, when the hard running James Thomas pounced on a defensive error, rounded Arnett's custodian Kadane Radcliffe before rolling the ball into the empty goal. The scoreline could have been worse for the hosts, but for some good saves by Radcliffe, who blocked no less than three good scoring chances for Thomas in the 60th, 67th and 80th minutes.
Three players - Andrew Phang and Dennis McKinley of Arnett, as well as Portmore's Stewart were ejected from the game in the 85th by referee Wilverglen Lamey following a clash in midfield.
In yesterday's other games, Reno outscored Tivoli Gardens 3-2 at Frome, title holders Harbour View defeated St George's 2-1 at Lynch Park in a game which ended with 10 players on each team.
St George's took the lead in the 12th minute through Romeo Parkes, but Harbour View hit back with goals from Marvin Mundy (35th) and Ronique Muir (41st). Muir was then dismissed in the 82nd minute and St George's Orette Richards was ejected in the 26th minute.
Village United scored their first win, edging Boys' Town 1-0 at Jarrett Park.
Shavar Campbell scored the only goal of the game in the 59th minute in a game that was played mostly in heavy rains that started just before the game kicked off.
Each team finished the game with 10 players, as Village's Devroy Leslie was sent off in the 88th minute after picking up his second yellow card, while Boys' Town's Shawn Alexander was sent off in the 90th minute.
The match between Rivoli and Waterhouse ended in a 1-1 draw.
