(from ABT Press Release) ABT Sportsline has achieved plenty of success with the AS5, which is based on Audis A5 - as the coupe has a dynamic and elegant design, is full of technical power and also quick. All this makes it a "real ABT. Now the company from Kempten has brought out the jewel in this range - the AS5-R. This vehicle is an ab(t)solute super sports car, nothing more and nothing less. Thanks to ABT POWER R, i.e. the change to the engine management and the insertion of an ABT Compressor, the performance is increased by an impressive 156 HP (115kW) to a powerful 510 HP (375kW). The AS5-R reaches 100km/h in 4.5 seconds and continues on powerfully up to its maximum speed of 292km/h. In spite of this enormous increase in performance, consumption and thereby emissions still remain at the level of the series-produced vehicle. CO2 emissions per HP thereby fall from 0.81 to 0.56g/km.
As is normal with ABT, all the components are perfectly adjusted to the enormous power of a top sports car. The ABT braking system with 380 millimetre disc diameter provides maximum deceleration even in extreme circumstances, and the ABT Coil-over suspension system also helps to bring the potential power onto the road. Motor sport professional Christian Abt has perfectionised the interaction of power with his know-how. The result is a top-class driving machine, which is also enjoyable in everyday use and is pleasant to drive on long journeys. The ABT AS5-R is therefore a maximum of a car and a statement which shows the high level at which the engineers from Allgaeu work.
Its "suit fits, of course, like a glove: The front spoiler accentuates the ABT grill and the striking section around the fog lights, inner fender skirt and the gill-shaped air inlets provide contours to the side of the ABT AS5-R. They have also succeeded on the side which most drivers only rarely get to see: The rear with the ABT rear skirt and 4-pipe rear muffler shows that this model athlete on wheels is more than just a car. The designers of ABT recommend the 20 inch BR alloys as the perfect accessory. Wheel-tyre c****inations with height performance tyres are, of course, also available. Only with these accessories can the fast AS5-R safely unleash its power. And it has lots of that.
A gang of motorbike-riding robbers staged a daylight raid on one of Britain's busiest shopping streets yesterday - exactly a fortnight after a near-identical heist. their faces hidden by helmets, the thieves - thought to be of school age - struck in the West End of London.
Our dictionary defines karma as the force generated by a persons actions held in Hinduism and Buddhism to perpetuate transmigration, and in its ethical consequences to determine his destiny in his next existence. Noted auto designer Henrik Fisker certainly touts the green ethics of his new Karma hybrid luxury sedan, but we doubt he believes in reincarnation.
No matter. The 2010 Fisker Karma is either a new DeLorean destined to disappoint or a genuine breakthrough in gasoline/electric cars. Imagine: a large, swoopy sports-luxury sedan that does 0-60 mph in 5.8 seconds, runs 50 pollution-free miles on electricity, and plugs in to recharge an advanced lithium-ion battery pack. And all for a scarcely believable starting price of around $80,000. Sounds too good to be true--and maybe it is. Many observers are skeptical of the Karma, not least because Fisker Automotive, the Irvine, California-based company set up to build and sell it, has yet to answer some key questions. Nevertheless, the Karma premiered at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show with Mr. Fisker declaring the car is on schedule to start production in the fourth quarter of 2009.
Weighing in at only 2640 lbs, the Gumpert Apollo Speed is the range-topping machine of the Gumpert lineup. Made out of lightweight composites and aluminum, the Apollo Speed can reportedly hit a claimed top speed of over 224 mph (gear and power dependant). If that's not impressive enough, Gumpert says it can accelerate to 62 mph in 3 sec flat and arrive at 124 mph in only 8.9 sec. Power is improved largely by a reengineered less restrictive induction system that feeds the giant snails bolted on to the Audi-soureced 4.2L V-8
In preparation for the zero-emissions grand prix, Evo Design Solutions has this fearsome electricsuperbike, fast enough and tough enough to challenge the old-school gas models.
Evo Design Solutions used a couple design tricks to allow room for the bike's large battery, including a monocoque that encloses the drivetrain, which negates the need for a frame. Bikes in this category easily break the 4-second mark in a 0-60mph, so these aren't electric toys. As for this particular model, it'll be sold for less than 20,000 pounds (about $28,000 USD), and there are no immediate plans for mass production, though that may change if it's a big hit. Mostly, we're just impressed with how pretty it is. Just look at it!

The vehicle will sell for $2,500 and enable those in developing countries to move to four wheels ( from the till now 2 wheel mode of transportation).
The four-door five-seater car will go on sale later this year. It 'boasts' a 33bhp, 624cc, engine at the rear, no air conditioning, no electric windows and no power steering. The company claims two deluxe models will also become available.
Citroen DS INSIDE
You want outrageous? We'll tell you what's outrageous Citroen turning up with a new, near-production concept surprise in the form of the new DS Inside, and then not bothering to display it prominently on the front of the stand. Even privileged members of the press had to be invited to view it. No strolling up and pressing your greasy fingers all over this one the DS Inside is hidden away in a glorified cupboard. We can only assume that this is some kind of misguided ploy to build up mystique around the forthcoming Different Spirit (DS, geddit?) Citroen premium brand. Oh boy.
As if to answer critics of its big, thirsty, and environmentally hostile trucks, Toyota is launching a thrifty Earth-friendly microcar called iQ. The petite two-door hatchback bowed as a concept at the autumn 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show in Germany and was shown in production trim at the March 2008 Geneva Auto Salon in Switzerland. Billed as an intelligent solution to urban transport, the iQ was designed at Toyotas ED2 studio in southern France, but will be built in Japan starting late this year. Toyota hopes to sell 100,000 in 2009. Europe and Japan are the intended markets, but the iQ is being whispered for U.S. sale as a 2010 model. If it comes here, it would be our markets first direct alternative to the Smart ForTwo from Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler AG, a car generating much interest amid soaring fuel prices and a worsening economy.
At the Festival Automobile in Paris last month, a panel comprised of designers, car experts and former Formula 1 driver Alain Prost awarded the Maserati A8GCS Berlinetta Touring the most beautiful supercar of the year. Television network Eurosport fielded over one million votes from viewers for the competition. Viewers choices included the Bugatti Sport Veyron, BMW 750i and Lotus Evora.
To build the Berlinetta, coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera began with a Maserati Coupé GranSport. Designer Louis de Fabribeckers aimed for a balance between the front end and rear flanks, and a soft aggressiveness. The design stays true to Carrozzerias heritage, and the coachbuilder looks towards the Isotta Fraschini and Lancia Flying Star for comparison. To achieve this style, Carrozzeria relies on reduced front and large rear overhangs, a prominent front grille, and two graceful horizontal bodylines.
