There has been much debate lately about the state of reggae music. The claim is that with the insertion of the dancehall culture, authentic reggae has suffered and as a result, diminished on the global scale. Many argue that with both genres coming from the island of Jamaica when one is dominant the other falters.
Concerned about these findings, reggae artist and CEO of Russcuttaz Records, Higher Purse, went to work. He spent the last couple of months working on a project now entitled: Old School Riddim. His position is that even though he is a fan of dancehall music, his heart has and will always be with reggae. And seeing reggae sales suffer is something he would like to do something about. Higher Purse believes that if we only give the people real reggae music like in the old days then they will actually pay for it.
As such, the Old School Riddim which features artist like Natty King, Natural Black, Karamanti, Rage, Shaka Pow, Higher Purse and many others will be released and available for download on all major online music stores as of November 25th. Zojak Worldwide is distributing the album and they can be found online at http://www.zojakworldwide.com
Confident that the Old School Riddim is exactly what reggae lovers are looking for, Higher Purse would like everyone to check out snippets of the album before purchasing it. Listen to the old school riddim here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPURNUDU_pM

Thursday November 25th is a huge day for dancehall artist Karamanti, as that is the day the Trucka Riddim will be released. Under normal circumstances this would not be a big deal as Karamanti has appeared on many compilations in the past. What makes this compilation special however, is that not only is Karamanti a featured artist, but she also got involved and assisted with the recording of certain songs. She had to put on her engineering hat for a few weeks and recorded some of the artists at her studio in Jamaica. Karamanti recorded Shaka Pow, Rage, Pree Dem, Ryval, King Timo, Higher Purse and herself for the Trucka Riddim. She also provided some much needed help behind the scenes by ensuring that all the songs are properly copyright protected.
Initially, the producer (Crappy Crib) simply wanted her to voice on the rhythm. However, after he encountered some difficulty he approached Karamanti who he knew was able to provide the help he was looking for. Based on their relationship, Karamanti did not hesitate.
The Trucka Riddim features Boom Steppa, Burry Fabilous, Ceekaih, Higher Purse, Karamanti, Shaka Pow, King Timo, Lucky, Louie Rankin, Lukie, Pree Dem, Rage and Ryval. The compilation is being distributed by Zojak Worldwide (http://www.zojakworldwide.com) and will be available for purchase on all major online stores such as I-tunes, Amazon, rhapsody etc. as of Thursday, November 25th, 2010.
Everyone is encouraged to download a free promo mix of the Trucka Riddim compilation at http://www.mediafire.com/?4m72dw4c48wa2k7
