A sugar molecule linked to the origin of life was discovered in a potentially habitable region of our galaxy.
The molecule, called glycolaldehyde, was spotted in a large star-forming area of space around 26,000 light-years from Earth in the less-chaotic outer regions of the Milky Way. This suggests the sugar could be common across the universe, which is good news for extraterrestrial-life seekers.
"This is an important discovery as it is the first time glycolaldehyde, a basic sugar, has been detected towards a star-forming region where planets that could potentially harbor life may exist," Serena Viti of University College London said in a press release.
Previously, glycolaldehyde had only been observed toward the center of the galaxy, where conditions are thought to be too extreme to host habitable planets.
Glycolaldehyde is a key ingredient for life. It helps to build Ribonucleic acid (RNA), which is thought to be the central molecule involved in the origin of life on Earth. Glycolaldehyde is a monosaccharide sugar, the basic unit of carbohydrates. It can react with the chemical propenal to form ribose, the building block of RNA.
"The discovery of an organic sugar molecule in a star forming region of space is very exciting and will provide incredibly useful information in our search for alien life, said Keith Mason, chief executive of the Englands Science and Technology Facilities Council...
Dreams might mean nothing, but many people take them seriously nonetheless, as Sigmund Freud did, new research finds.
People in at least three countries, including the United States, believe dreams contain important hidden truths, said researcher Carey Morewedge, an assistant professor at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
In six different studies, Morewedge and his colleagues surveyed nearly 1,100 people about their dreams. The results are detailed in the February issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
"Psychologists' interpretations of the meaning of dreams vary widely," Morewedge said. "But our research shows that people believe their dreams provide meaningful insight into themselves and their world."
In one study that surveyed general beliefs about dreams, Morewedge and co-author Michael Norton, an assistant professor at Harvard Business School, surveyed 149 university students in the United States, India and South Korea. The researchers asked the students to rate different theories about dreams.
Across all three cultures, an overwhelming majority of the students endorsed the theory that dreams reveal hidden truths about themselves and the world, a belief also endorsed by a nationally representative sample of Americans, Morewedge said.
In another study, Morewedge and his colleagues wanted to explore how dreams might influence people's waking behavior. A total of 182 commuters at a Boston train station were asked to imagine that one of four possible scenarios had happened the night before a scheduled airline trip: The national threat level was raised to orange, indicating a high risk of terrorist attack; they consciously thought about their plane crashing; they dreamed about a plane crash; or a real plane crash occurred on the route they planned to take.
A dream of a plane crash was more likely to affect travel plans than either thinking about a crash or a government warning, and the dream of a plane crash produced a similar level of anxiety as did an actual crash, Morewedge found.

Mold and mildew are tiny plants that grow where its warm and damp like in the shower. They release invisible "spores" into the air. The floating spores trigger allergy and asthma episodes. And wherever they land, the spores start growing new mold and mildew.
Mold/mildew also grow on "wet" appliances like air conditioners, dehumidifiers (appliances that remove moisture from the air) and humidifiers (appliances that add moisture to the air). Follow manufacturers instructions to change filters and clean appliances regularly.

| What is the main difference between plain soaps and antibacterial soaps used in the home? |
| The main difference is that antibacterial soaps contain a special ingredient for controlling germs. When washing with an antibacterial soap, a very small amount of antibacterial ingredient is deposited on the skin that keeps the number of germs at a significantly reduced level for an extended period of time. Washing with plain soap initially removes some germs, but the germs left on the hands can quickly regrow and increase in number. |
| What germs do antibacterial soaps kill? |
| Antibacterial soaps kill or inhibit bacteria that cause odor, skin infections, food poisoning, intestinal illnesses and other commonly transmitted diseases. Their effectiveness depends on the antibacterial ingredient, its concentration, its contact time on the skin and the product formulation. |
| Who should use antibacterial soaps? |
| Antibacterial soaps provide extra protection against bacteria that may cause many common illnesses. Consumers looking for additional protection before preparing and eating meals, after using the bathroom, diapering a child, after playing with a pet or when caring for the sick may want to use an antibacterial soap. |
| Are deodorant soaps the same as antibacterial soaps? |
| No. A deodorant soap is a cosmetic product intended for washing the body to eliminate odors. A deodorant soap may or may not contain an ingredient that kills or inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria. |
| Why are so many antibacterial soaps on the market now? |
| Soaps intended to kill or inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria have been marketed since the 1920s. Greater consumer concern over health risks from germs has generated increased demand for new antibacterial hand and body wash products. |
If you or your child have allergies or asthma, you already know that many things can bring on, or trigger, an asthma flare or episode. Some things that trigger asthma attacks are called allergens. Some people get symptoms from only one allergen like dust mites. For other people, more than one kind of allergen can trigger an episode.
When you vacuum, some of the allergens trapped in carpets and upholstery are thrown into the air. Whenever possible, have a non-allergic person do the vacuuming. Or, wear a dust mask and goggles if eye allergies are a problem.
Mold, mildew and germs grow in wet or damp carpeting. Carpets that have been damp or wet for more than 24 hours should be removed or professionally cleaned. |
Most people would acknowledge that their eyesight is the most important sense. And, I would have to agree. Humans have natural features that help protect their eyes from damage. Our eyelashes are there to keep dirt particles out, our eyebrows keep sweat from running into our eyes, and blinking washes tears over our eyes to moisten them and keep them clean. Even though we have these natural features to protect our eyes, it is still not enough.
By remembering simple steps to protect your eyes, you can keep them from deteriorating. Only 40% of Americans go to the doctor for an annual eye exam. This is the first check to make sure your eyes are being taken care of well. Get to the optometrist and get your eyes checked atleast once per year.
Dont forget to bring your sunglasses especially when it is sunny outside. Sunglasses will sheild your eyes from ultraviolet light emitted by the sun. This will help prevent the formation of cataracts, macular degeneration, and pterygium. Reflected light from the sun off substances such as water and snow can cause the surface of the eye to burn.
If you are an active athlete it is important to protect your vision on a constant basis. Usually eye guards on baseball, hockey and football helmets are optional but you should insist on using them. In sports like basketball, goggles are a great way to prevent eye damage. Too many serious sports-related eye injuries are caused yearly.
When using the computer for long periods of time, it is necessary to take intermittent breaks. It is generally recommended to take a break every 20 minutes to reduce the strain on your eyes.
When working with dangerous chemicals or substances, always wear safety goggles. If any material does make contact with your eyes, flush them immediately with water.
Think about it poor/damaged eye sight or even blindness is something that can help be prevented by being careful and taking neccessary steps to help ensure that you dont impair your vision.

Rest for God's people
Praise the Lord who has given rest to his people Israel, just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the wonderful promises he gave through his servant Moses. May the Lord our God be with us as he was with our ancestors; may he never forsake us. May he give us the desire to do his will in everything and to obey all the commands, laws, and regulations that he gave our ancestors.
God fulfills his plan
As we read of God's faithfulness fulfilled in the events described in 1 Kings 8, these words of Solomon spring forth from our hearts as well: "Praise the Lord who has given rest to his people Israel, as he promised!" When the ark of the covenant came to rest in its place between the wings of the cherubim, signifying the completion of the temple in which God would dwell, "a cloud filled the Temple of the Lord" (v. 10). God's presence was so glorious that the priests couldn't continue their work but could only bow before him in worship. It was as if God was saying, "It is done. The temple I planned has been built. And I am here to dwell with you!" Thus Solomon was able to make the requests that followed: "May he never forsake us. May he give us the desire to do his will." He could make these requests with such heartfelt fervor because of his trust in the covenant-keeping God who fulfills his purposes. If we truly grasp the majesty of what God did during Solomon's reign, we can thank him in faith that he will fulfill his purposes in our lives as well.
BLESSED BE THE LORD, who keeps his covenant and fulfils his purposes!

A teacher in New York decided to honor each of her seniors in High
School by telling them the difference each of them had made. She called
each student to the front of the class, one at a time. First, she told
each of them how they had made a difference to her, and the class. Then
she presented each of them with a blue ribbon, imprinted with gold
letters, which read, "Who I Am Makes a Difference"
Afterwards, the teacher decided to do a class project, to see what kind
of impact recognition would have on a Community. She gave each of the
students three more blue ribbons, and instructed them to go out and
spread this acknowledgment ceremony. Then they were to follow up on the
results, see who honored whom, and report to the class in about a week.
One of the boys in the class went to a junior executive in a nearby
company, and honored him for helping him with his career planning. He
gave him a blue ribbon, and put it on his shirt. Then he gave him two
extra ribbons and said, "We're doing aclass project on recognition, and
we'd like for you to go out, find somebody to honor, give them a blue
ribbon, then give them the extra blue ribbon so they can acknowledge a
third person, to keep this acknowledgment ceremony going. Then please
report back to me and tell me what happened."
Later that day, the junior executive went in to see his boss, who had
been noted, by the way, as being kind of a grouchy fellow. He sat his
boss down, and he told him that he deeply admired him for being a
creative genius. The boss seemed very surprised. The junior executive
asked him if he would accept the gift of the blue ribbon, and would he
give him permission to put it on him His surprised boss said, "Well,
sure." The junior executive took the blue ribbon and placed it right on
his boss's jacket, above his heart. As he gave him the last extra
ribbon, he said, "Would you take this extra ribbon, and pass it on by
honoring somebody else. The young boy who first gave me the ribbons is
doing a project in school, and we want to keep this recognition
ceremony going and find out how it affects people."
That night, the boss came home to his 14-year-old son, and sat him
down. He said, "The most incredible thing happened to me today. I was
in my office, and one of the junior executives came in and told me he
admired me, and gave me a blue ribbon for being a creative genius.
Imagine! He thinks I am a creative genius! Then he put a blue ribbon
that says, "Who I Am Makes a Difference", on my jacket above my heart.
He gave me an extra ribbon and asked me to find somebody else to honor.
As I was driving home tonight, I started thinking about whom I would
honor with this ribbon, and I thought about you. I want to honor you.
My days are hectic and when I come home, I do not pay a lot of
attention to you. Sometimes I scream at you for not getting good enough
grades in school, and for your bedroom being a mess.
Somehow, tonight, I just wanted to sit here and, well, just let you
know that you do make a difference to me. Besides your mother, you are
the most important person in my life. You're A great kid, and I love
you!" The startled boy started to sob and sob, and he could not stop
crying. His whole body shook. He looked up at his father and said
through his tears, "Dad, earlier tonight I sat in my room and wrote a
letter to you and Mom, explaining why I had took my life, and I asked
you to forgive me. I was going to commit suicide tonight after you were
asleep. I just did not think that you cared at all. The letter is
upstairs. I don't think I need it after all." His father walked
upstairs and found a heartfelt letter full of anguish and pain.
The boss went back to work a changed man. He was no longer a grouch,
but made sure to let all of his employees know that they made a
difference. The junior executive helped several other young people
with career planning, and never forgot to let them know that they made
a difference in his life...one being the boss' son. In addition, the
young boy and his classmates learned a valuable lesson, "Who you are
DOES make a difference"
You are under no obligation to pass this on to anyone... not to two
people, or to two hundred. As far as I am concerned, you can forget it
and move on. On the other hand, if you want, you could send it to all
of the people who mean something to you, or send it to the one, two, or
three people who mean the most. On the other hand, just smile and know
that I think that you are important, or you would not have received
this in the first place. Who you are does make a difference, and I
wanted you to know that.
Dancehall should be for enjoyment, fun and entertainment not war. However it appears as if many sound system disc jockeys are adding fuel to an ever brewing fire of lyrical wars, that are commonly unleashed by disgruntled Dancehall DJs who make no hesitation to clearly speak their minds in song.
While reggae and dancehall have been famous for showcasing important messages to the world, bringing personal and sometimes intimate issues and details to an audience that only wants basic entertainment can get to be excessive not to mention, monotonous.
Is it a ploy to win sympathizers and in so doing form separate warring factions? Answers to this question eludes all forward thinking dancehall partakers, who feel lyrical war indulgence only serves to promote division and even further ignite c****ative situations.
When dancehall fans enter their party of choice, it is not because they want to cheer on or take sides in some DJs personal problems. And so the sound system selectors need to ease up off of the nonsense and stop playing the rival tunes back to back, because that kind of selecting spurs on animosity and sometimes violence follows.
As opposed to the song that says, "Push wood in the fire jockey," regardless of how you interpret it, our disc jockeys need to change their way of approaching the lyrical wars and maybe, p"our water on the fire," instead.
And set de war ting straight!
'And if you are asked about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But you must do this in a gentle and respectful way. (1 Peter 3:15-16)
Who is really poor?
And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
Plow Work
Dr. Roy L. Laurin tells of a Christian businessman who was traveling in Korea. In a field by the side of the road was a young man pulling a crude plow while an old man held the handles. The businessman was amused and took a snapshot of the scene. "That is curious! I suppose these people are very poor," he said to the missionary who was interpreter and guide to the party. "Yes," was the quiet reply, "these two men happen to be Christians. When their church was being built, they were so eager to give something toward it, but they had no money. So they decided to sell their one and only ox and give the proceeds to the church. This spring they are pulling the plow themselves." The businessman was silent for some moments. Then he said, "That must have been a real sacrifice." "They did not call it that," said the missionary. "They thought themselves fortunate that they had an ox to sell!"
When the businessman reached home, he took the picture to his pastor and told him about it. Then he added, "I want to double my giving to the church and do some plow work. Up until now I have never given God anything that involved real sacrifice."

Today's Scripture
Blessed, fortunate, happy and spiritually prosperousare those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, uprightness and right standing with God, for they shall be completely satisfied (Matthew 5:6 AMP).
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
God longs to pour out his abundant blessing on every area of your life. He wants you to live completely satisfied. When you hunger and thirst for righteousness--Gods way of doing things--then you will live in complete satisfaction. You direct your hunger by choosing what you focus on. For example, if you focus on your favorite food, if you start thinking about it early in the morning, and all throughout the day, chances are, by the end of the day youll be eating it! What you give your attention to, you will desire. In the same way, the more you give your attention to God and His Word, the more you will hunger for Him. Just like the scripture promises, when you hunger for righteousness, you will be completely satisfied. The world offers so many things for you to give your attention to, but they arent things that will satisfy. You might think you want a particular car, or certain clothes, or live in a particular neighborhood. Theres nothing wrong with those things, but understand that things wont ever satisfy you. Recognize that only God will satisfy you. As you hunger for Him, youll live in peace and blessing and live completely satisfied all the days of your life!
A Prayer for Today
Father in Heaven, I come to You today, I ask for forgiveness for allowing anything to capture my heart and attention more than You. I choose today to give You top priority, and choose to hunger for Your righteousness. In Jesus Name. Amen.
Bless One and All,

Today's Scripture
Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah: Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there (I Kings 17:2-4).
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
As a child of the Most High God, your steps are ordered by Him. He has a specific place of blessing prepared for you. When you live a life of obedience to the Word of God, He promises to supply every one of your needs. Just as God directed Elijah to his place of blessing, God is directing you, too. Hes aligning the right opportunities for you and causing the right people to come along your path to help you get ahead. Hes constantly working behind the scenes on your behalf. But you have to do your part to keep your heart open by following His Word and keeping an attitude of faith and expectancy. A major key to keeping your heart in the right place is choosing peace and unity. The Bible says that when we live in unity, there He has commanded the blessing. And when your heart is in the place of blessing, the rest of your life will be in the place of blessing, too!
A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, I come to You with a grateful heart. Thank You for leading me and directing my steps. Help me to see others the way You see them so I can honor You and live in unity all the days of my life. In Jesus Name, Amen.
When it comes to glowing flawless skin, you may think only creams and lotions can do the trick. We showcase some foods that literally feed your skin from within, making it healthier and more beautiful. OrangesWhat they do : They are loaded with Vitamin C, which protects your skin from damage from environmental factors like ultraviolet rays. Vitamin C keeps your gums healthy and helps your skin to make collagen, which is necessary to keep it tight and wrinkle free. How to consume: You need 200 mg of Vitamin C per day. There's enough in one orange for your entire day's needs. It's better to consume the whole fruit than just have the juice. Smoking is a no-no as it decreases the absorption of Vitamin C into the system. Conditions it helps: ~ Bleeding, tender gums.~ Healing wounds.~ Prevents skin from looking dull due exposure to the sun. Papayas What they do: This delicious, low-calorie fruit is not just a dieter's delight; it comes packed with carotenoids that release Vitamin A. Vitamin A has an antioxidant effect; it protects your skin from damage and keeps it young. It is also known to decrease the risk of cancer. How to consume: About 200 gm (a big bowlful) is adequate. The part near the seeds is the richest in nutrients, so it should not be discarded. Instead, just lightly flake off the seeds with a fork. Conditions it helps: Dry skin and dry mucosa (the lining of your mouth and eyes). |
Whole grains What they do: These are full of vitamins of the B group; these vitamins are essential for normal skin functioning, growth of new cells to replace dead ones and to maintain the skin's strength against infections and stress. Niacin in whole grains also helps skin cells to absorb nutrients from the *lo** and break them to release energy. How to consume: Select breads, biscuits and pastas that mention 'whole grain' instead of just wheat flour in the ingredients. Try to eat unpolished rice (brown rice). You could also add wheat bran (husk of wheat) to your chappatti dough. Conditions it helps: ~ Peeling, cracked skin~ Rough hands and feet. ~ Mouth ulcers, sore tongue, rawness at the angles of your mouth. ~ A disease called pellagra, where skin becomes dark, flaky and burnt. Sunflower seedsWhat they do: These light, crisp, nutritious morsels are filled with the goodness of essential fatty acids. They help your skin secrete natural oils that lubricate it and prevent water loss, keeping your skin soft. They improve hair texture and decrease blackheads. How to consume: A few teaspoons once or twice a week is enough. Alternately, use sunflower oil for cooking. Conditions it helps: ~ Diseases like psoriasis, where you get pink, scaly patches on your skin and cracked soles.~ Diseases like atopic dermatitis, where skin is excessively dry and sensitive and keeps breaking into rashes. ~ Some forms of acne. |
Green tea What it does: Green tea is loaded with flavinoids and antioxidants. Drinking it is the best gift you could give your skin. Sunlight, UV rays and free radical (chemicals) in the atmosphere can damage your skin cell's structure and leave it incapable of repairing itself, making you look older and wrinkled before your years. It may also cause skin cancer. Antioxidants in green tea battle these agents, helping your skin stay younger. How to consume: Soak a tea bag or a teaspoon of tea leaves in a cup of hot water for at least three minutes to get the full extract. This is available at any pharmacy. Adding milk neutralises the antioxidants, so it is best to have it black. Conditions it helps: ~ Wrinkled, aged looking skin and sunburns. ~ Rashes due to sun exposure.~ Pigmentation due to menopause or pregnancy. |
Pulses What they do: Pulses are not just a rich source of protein that helps your skin cells grow, they also contain a nutrient called biotin, which helps decrease dandruff and is effective in controlling hair fall. Regular intake keeps your nails stay strong as well. How to consume: Pulses must be cooked well to break the outer protective coats and release the vitamins inside. Whole pulses are better than the de-husked variety. Whole moong or urad dal are the best. Body builders beware; eating raw eggs prevents absorption of nutrients like biotin, causing its deficiency. Conditions they help : ~ Dull lifeless skin gets a glow with a high protein pulses-rich diet.~ Stops hair loss, decreases dandruff.~ Helps brittle, dry nails. |
Aloe Vera What it does: This miracle plant's products have no end to their virtues. Drinking aloe juice is beneficial for patchy, irritated skin, preventing and treating acne and preventing pigmentation. How to consume: About 30 ml daily is enough. Buy packaged juice only, which is available with chemists. Don't try to eat the plant jelly directly as you could take in harmful inedible substances from the leaf surface. Conditions it helps: Acne, pigmentation, skin rashes, heat rashes and allergic reactions. |
