To me, its one thing if yuh hear Kartel or Busy do a gangsta song and den a culture tune. Dem mon deh a gangsta and dem a play out waah gwaan in di streets. But di first time mi hear Sizzla do a gun chune it kinda tek mi back. When mi waan hear bout guns and violence a alliance and portmore empire mi look to. It just nuh seem right fi dem ting a come out a Judgement yard or David house. Mi overstand seh we are africans and we are warriors but Rasta is supposed to uplift di people. When people (especially outside a jamaica) learn about rasta and become fascinated with the lifestyle, teaching and covenants it can be devastating to see one of the most highly regarded rastas behaving like a bad mon. Dem fi know dat. Music is a mission not a competition. Furthermore mi feel seh Capleton fi talk to Munga caw im too hype too. Rasta is supposed to prove dem wrong wit teachings of peace and love

Rebel Salute 2008 was launched at the Hilton Kingston Hotel last night, and by all indications, the Port Kaiser Sports Club in St. Elizabeth will be host to another dynamic mixture of Reggae music, past, present and future.
The event is the flagship event of Reggae icon, Tony Rebel, and it is his company, Flames Production in association with Trade Winds Citrus who staged the event.
The show is being touted as the "The night of Rebel Salute generations." Promoters have promised that three Jamaican musical dynasties, currently in the making, will take to the stage.
Look out for Jimmy Riley and his son Tarrus, Junior Reid and his two sons, Wada and Andrew *lo**, and Tony Rebel and Junior Rebel. Though Reggae music is Jamaican in origin, it is also global, hence, visitors from around the world who make the pilgrimage to Port Kaiser, will witness Bermudan dancehall act Collie Buddz, armed with the hits, "Come Around" and "Mamacita." Other first timers to Rebel Salute will include Ini Kamoze, the group Chalice, Ernie Smith, Pluto Shervington, Busy Signal, Errol Dunkley and I-Octane.
Staples of the event such as Luciano, Queen Ifrica and Capleton are certain to "scorch" lyrically.
Rebel salute was launched in 1994, just one day before Tony Barrett's (Tony Rebel) birthday, at the Fayer's Entertainment Centre in Mandeville. The 1994 staging was attended by former World Heavy Weight Boxing Champion, Lennox Lewis, and actor Malik Yoba.
Contrary to contemporary culture, Rebel Salute maintains a "no alcohol policy"; yet, Port Kaiser is always flocked by people amounting to as much as 30,000. This 2008 staging is expected to be supported mightily as well.

Rapping with artistes
For one of Jamaica's top entertainers who has managed to maintain a strong presence on the local scene for over a decade, Beenie Man would have many persons thinking that his typical day would be a very hectic one, filled with work and always on the go.
However, when THE STAR team linked up with Beenie Man at his office/studio along Mannings Hill Road last Thursday, it was much different. In fact, 'the doctor' spent most of his day with family and friends.
Hanging with dad
School was out and so his six-year-old daughter, Desha, was hanging out with her dad for the day.
She didn't speak much, but displayed much love and fondness towards her father as she sat on his leg and played in his hair.
After hanging out at his office with fellow artistes, Nittie Kutchie and Predator, Beenie Man then sped off in his brand new Mitsubishi Spider to link up with a few more of his friends at the Exodus studio on Red Hills Road.
"Every day mi deh yah suh (Exodus studio). Either wi chill out yah suh or up a Gary Exodus house, or up a my studio a 357," Beenie said as he spoke with artistes Guidance, Action K, Blacktalant and others.
Recalling his experience at a recently held Weddy Weddy Wednesday session, Beenie said he only spoke his mind, as he was in disagreement about their selection of the deejay of the year at Stone Love anniversary.
"How must you give Mavado deejay of di year? Mi ask who get singer a di year, dem sey Tarrus Riley. Suh mi sey a two singer get awarded," Beenie argued.
During the conversation, Beenie's daughter interrupted, reminding her father that he was supposed to drop her at school for practice and that they were to attend a surprise birthday party for Courtney Walsh's daughter later on.
Out of time
With that said, 'the doctor' wrapped up his conversation as time was now against him.
But in explaining to THE STAR his typical day, Beenie says his days are rather boring.
"From mi lef mi yard, guh a studio, buy some food, a jus my day dat. Other than that, pon di weekends mi deh a work," Beenie said.
Next stop Beenie said, was to "take my grandmother to visit the eye doctor, pick up Moses (his son) and carry him to football training and carry mi daughter guh netball training."
But pretty much, Beenie says, "a jus straight family mi deal wid throughout di day and work."
The four, Noel Bryan, Phillip Dunstan, Clayton Fearon and Omar Miller, were charged after an October ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions when they appeared in Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.
The officers are charged in connection with the controversial shooting of 19-year-old André Thomas in the Grants Pen community, on September 28.
Relatives of the deceased youth made statements which summarised that he was killed in cold *lo** by the officers, but initial police reports stated that he was killed in a shoot-out.
The policemen were previously charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice after they were accused of trying to carry out repair work to their patrol vehicle following allegations that the teen was shot in the vehicle while on his way to hospital.
Lead attorney Jacqueline Samuels-Brown argued that the cops were charged because of public pressure and reports carried in the media.
The men were each offered bail in the sum of $1 million and are booked to return to court on January 8.
I am a woman, but I wish I could get inside their heads to figure out what kind of satisfaction they derive knowing they are having these men 'outside children' that the man can't even let his wife know about. He has to hide and carry the smalls come and give to you. Many times you begging him to stay over and just sleep the whole night with you...because he is trying to hide the fact from his wife that he has another woman.
Where is the satisfaction when you have two or three kids and the man can't even come to some of the big events such school plays, soccer match etc...next thing wifey gets suspicious.
What kind of victory you think you have over the wife even if you have kids for the man and his wife don't?
If you were so damn hot, how come the man not signing divorce papers and popping the question to you? Or come he is hanging on for dear life to the woman he is referring to as his 'upfront' woman and you are still perched on the sidelines?
Wake up women! Come on have some pride and give yourselves more rating than that. Just because the man wants to have his cake and eat it too doesn't mean that you have to be his meal.
Children are the most beautiful gifts that God could ever give, but don't tarnish their beauty by having this stigma hanging over their heads.
Yeah, mi back broad, suh cuss if you want, but done the baby competition ting, "pickney caan hol' man again!"
Dear Pastor,
I will be 16 years old soon. I was asked a question that I never thought a male would ask me. The exact words were, "Have your boyfriend ever performed oral sex on you?"
Pastor, I was so shocked that someone would ask me that, especially a friend of mine. He also told me he would pay me a fee of $3,000 and I should tell him the place and time.
Pastor, my question to you is, should I accept his offer? Am I the one being exposed to HIV?
L.B., Ontario, Canada
Dear L. B,
This man you consider to be your friend is out of order and what you should have done was to tell him to get lost, and immediately drop him as your friend. His purpose is to buy sex from you and to make you feel like a prostitute. You shouldn't even ask me whether you should accept his offer. That is something you shouldn't even consider at all. Tell him if he wants to buy sex, he should offer money to someone else and not you.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -- Shoes and other equipment filled 4-foot-high bins in the Miami Dolphins' locker room Monday, signaling the start of the offseason.
Another sign: upheaval in the offices upstairs.
The Dolphins' latest shake-up began before noon when new boss Bill Parcells fired general manager Randy Mueller and two other members of the player personnel staff. Jeff Ireland, vice president of college and pro scouting for the Dallas Cowboys, was the front-runner to replace Mueller and confirmed he was flying Tuesday to South Florida for an interview.
Still undetermined was the future of coach Cam Cameron, who went 1-15 in his first year as an NFL head coach. He awaited a fateful meeting with Parcells.
"There's going to be an opportunity in the next few days to sit down and talk with Bill," Cameron said. "We'll treat it as an exchange between two guys who want to see the Miami Dolphins be successful, and what it's going to take to do that."
Sweeping changes are anticipated from Parcells, a two-time Super Bowl champion coach who began work last week as executive vice president of football operations. He started by firing Mueller, assistant director of player personnel Mike Baugh and college scouting coordinator Rick Thompson.
The departures came less than a year after owner Wayne Huizenga gave Mueller and Cameron responsibility for rebuilding the Dolphins.
"Any time you have a relationship with somebody you care about, it's tough," Cameron said. "But we all know this is a tough business, and we've been through a tough year."
Only an overtime win against Baltimore two weeks ago prevented the Dolphins from becoming the NFL's first 0-16 team. Instead they're the eighth team to finish 1-15.
A rich franchise legacy that includes Don Shula, Dan Marino and the perfect season was forever tarnished by a season that made the Dolphins a national laughingstock. They lost to two quarterbacks who had been busts in Miami, Daunte Culpepper and A.J. Feeley. They lost twice to the woeful New York Jets. They also lost twice to New England, and even once in England.
The season was the sorry culmination of a long, slow decline. Three coaching changes since 2004 have failed to reverse the slide, and the Dolphins will sit out the playoffs for the sixth consecutive year, extending a franchise record.
"Are there certain things you would like to see changed? Absolutely," said defensive end Jason Taylor, Miami's lone Pro Bowl player. "I think any player in that locker room would say the same thing. There are certain things that do need to change that aren't set up for us to succeed. It's not an indictment or a knock against anybody, but it is what it is."
As a post-mortem, Cameron held a team meeting Monday that ended with a five-minute speech to the players by Parcells.
"I think he just wanted to introduce himself and give them a feel for some things to think about going into the offseason," Cameron said.
"My first impression of him is he's a guy who means business," cornerback Will Allen said. "You've got to respect him. If anybody can get this thing turned around, he can definitely help us."
Parcells didn't talk to reporters, and the firings of Mueller and his two aides were announced in a two-paragraph news release. It was unclear whether Ireland, if hired, would take over before the April draft.
Mueller was general manager for three seasons but in charge of personnel decisions only since coach Nick Saban left a year ago. He received mixed reviews for his moves in 2007, which included the acquisition of free-agent linebacker Joey Porter and the selection of receiver Ted Ginn Jr. and quarterback John Beck in the draft.
In the wake of Mueller's firing, Cameron expressed optimism about returning for a second season.
"I'm accountable to the situation we're in," Cameron said. "If we're not sitting here in this situation, none of this happens. If we win games, none of this happens. I'm charged with that, and I accept the responsibility.
"However, it is a great opportunity with Bill Parcells coming here. You know how much respect I do have for him. The fact he's here with the Miami Dolphins I see as a positive."
As the losses mounted this season, Cameron's relationship with Taylor and other veterans became strained. He had an argument last week with nose tackle Keith Traylor about a confrontation involving Traylor and two teammates on the flight home from a game Dec. 23. Traylor was not at Sunday's season finale against Cincinnati.
But following a 38-25 loss to the Bengals, several players said they hope Cameron returns in 2008.
"God willing," running back Jesse Chatman said. "Coach Cameron is better than people think he is. He needs a chance to show what a good coach he is."
The transformation of the Dolphins into the NFL's worst team resulted from a decade of poor personnel decisions, and a wave of injuries compounded Cameron's problems. Still, from draft day until the final game, he made plenty of decisions that invited second-guessing.
The new coach drew boos at a team draft party defending the choice of Ginn in the first round. And as recently as Sunday, he declined to challenge a 70-yard touchdown pass by the Bengals, even though TV replays showed the receiver stepping out of bounds at the 4-yard line.
Whoever coaches the Dolphins in 2008, there's the foundation for a turnaround. Five rookies played substantial roles on offense this season, and Miami will have the top pick and two second-round choices in the April draft.
Still, a revamping of the roster is inevitable once Parcells completes his upstairs shake-up. Porter is among those who hope to be back next season.
"I've seen the worst of the worst, so I've got to be here when it gets good," Porter said. "They bring Parcells in, and everybody knows he's a great football mind who knows talent. It has to be a good thing."
Yeah, yeah, you can talk, so what can I do about it, he is a great guy otherwise and he is truly caring and he makes me feel like a million bucks (just not in the bedroom). Should I walk away from him when I can always pleasure myself later by masturbating?
We are not saying you should walk away from your man, but you don't have to 'endure' either. It's time to address that all important area in your relationship. If the guy is as great as you think then he won't mind you having a heart-to-heart with him right? Remember though that he is a man and therefore his emotions are fragile. Don't just blurt out that you have been pretending all along. Just tell him that you have some great ideas for making sex more enjoyable for both of you.
Maybe one of the reasons you have been so unaffected by his lovemaking is that he is not getting to the core of you. You have masturbated and even if you have not been so adventurous, you still know your body more than he ever will. So here are some tips that might make love making more enjoyable for you.
Invite your man to watch you masturbate. He should learn a thing or two watching your expression as you touch certain areas of your body and if he doesn't get the point, talk to him as you go along. Tell him exactly what it does for you when he touches the clitoris, or anywhere that really excites you. You could tell him that you love it when it is touched a certain way (of course, you will be demonstrating this as you go along!). Note, this is only for those who are comfortable with their man as well as their
bodies!
Just to ensure that he doesn't think you have a problem with his lovemaking, ask him if he has any preferences; or if there is something you can do to make sex more enjoyable for him. Then you can in turn tell him your preferences and what really turns you on.
The next time you make love, take it step by step. Tell him you would like to try something new. Start off by just kissing, playing with each other, exploring your bodies with your lips and hands. Don't rush into penetration. You would be amazed how turned on you can get by heavy petting. Trading light kisses, sucking each other's nipples, playful bites, you know the drift...just enjoy the build up.
By now you must be wet and ready for that final step and if you aren't, continue petting until you think you are. Some positions do little for you, so if the one he is doing doesn't work, tell him! If you like it hard and fast, don't be afraid to request it. If you prefer the slow, leisurely strokes, then tell him too. Whatever works for you, be open about it. It is your life and you should enjoy it.
Too many women are suffering in silence as they think it is not 'proper' to talk about such issues. There is enough stress in life as it is, so don't make a martyr out of yourself. In the long run, your man will appreciate your honesty as the experience will be even better for him too. Who knows, he might have been having a problem with you pleasuring him and your candidness opened the door to a fulfilling experience for both of you.
He will never lay his eyes on his first grandchild. What should have been one of his greatest New Year gifts will never be his. Peter Yee and three of his children should have left Jamaica on Thursday to visit his granddaughter, which his eldest child bore him.
Peter Yee's family is now only left with the memories of a man who cared for everyone. The mystery of his death is even harder for the family to deal with, as they might never be certain of how it actually occurred.
"There are only speculations, nobody knows what happened," said Andrea Yee, widow of the deceased.
Mr. Yee died after he was pinned between a truck and a wrecker after the truck allegedly rolled back on him while he worked outside. After the incident, his two-year-old son who was left in the truck was later found coming from under the wrecker covered in dirt, Mrs. Yee told The STAR as she repeated what she heard from another person who was present when the accident occurred.
Efforts to start the truck after the incident to remove Mr. Yee's body were unsuccessful, which Mrs. Yee believes is proof that the child did not start the truck as is being speculated.
The Constabulary Communications Network (CCN) had earlier reported that the 46-year-old businessman died after the child managed to switch on the ignition which caused the Leyland truck to roll back and pin Mr. Yee between that truck and a parked Volvo truck. He sustained injuries and was taken to the Linstead Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Fondly remembered
While Mr. Yee, a haulage contractor, is no longer here for his four children and wife, he is fondly remembered.
"He was a good father, a kind person. He was everything. I don't have words to describe him as a father and husband," said Mrs. Yee, as she described the man she fell in love with nearly 10 years ago. Next March would have been the 10th year of their marriage. "He is a great husband and a family provider."
According to Mrs. Yee, her husband's love for his children was insurmountable. "He cares a lot and loves his children to death and if he's to come back to life, he would do the same thing," she said, while speaking to The STAR at home in Ewarton, St. Catherine.
While she greaves her husband's death, Mrs. Yee said she is hurting more because of the fact that persons are casting blame on the child for his father's death. "It grieves me when people a talk things an' a seh how the pickney a guh live wid himself wen him know seh him kill him daddy," she said.
Mr. Yee had two daughters and two sons, the sons being the eldest and the youngest of his four children. The child in question was very "privileged" as said by his mother. He was everywhere with his father, explaining the reason for him being with his father on the day of his death. "He loves him very much. He carries him everywhere," said Mrs. Yee.
Mr. Yee was not only loved by his family. Elvira Edwards-Harris, who worked with Mr. Yee for almost 10 years, described him as a good man. "He is just nice and good. There is nothing at all you ask and he doesn't do. He has nothing too good not to give to you," she said of the man.
She said he was also not a quarrelsome man. He never failed to offer a greeting to someone when he passed on the road, she said. His death has greatly affected her. "From I hear, it come like mi heart come out. I feel it man," she said.
Another friend recalled that Mr. Yee was a community man who was respected and loved. "He was like an icon in the district," she told The STAR. Mrs. Yee said her husband will be best remembered for as a kind and jovial person
The word on the street is that Guinness Sting failed to live up to expectations. According to reports from some of the patrons their was no 'bite' in this year's staging.
Beenie Man's presence was definitely lacking as his charisma and the energy he brings to the fore would definitely be more than welcomed.
That aside there were some winners for the night Ninja Man without a doubt lived up to what was expected of him and then some. He gave a super charged performance and had the crowd going with his incisive lyrics and comical stance on stage.
The veterans such as Josey Wales and George Nooks held their own also.
Prestige had a field day especially with the song that has been doing well for him now 'Wi Nuh Trust Dem.'
And the artiste that has many tongues still wagging is Mavado who was slated to perform at 12:45 but actually never hit the stage until minutes to 4 am. He was in total control of the crowd with lyrical loaded ammunition such as "Full Clip," "Weh Dem A Sey," "Bawl Dem A Bawl" among others. But what he received rating for is the fact that he took time out of his performance to hail up Vybz Kartel and we all know the drama there!
Giving good account of themselves at Guinness Sting were Jigsy King, Cutty Corn, Captain Barkey and Wickerman, Assassin, Bugle and Busy Signal.
Bounty Killer who was slated to closed the show did not but before leaving the stage he referred to Beenie Man as 'Fisheenie.' He did his thing, along with his twin counterpart K Queens.
Vybz Kartel and the Portmore Empire closed the show with a not so stunning perfomance and brought the curtains down on what wasn't a very exciting night.
Next year promoters need to adhere to the running order and ensure that there is some semblance of proper organization in place.
Four policemen were yesterday charged with the murder of 19-year-old André Thomas of Grants Pen, St. Andrew, when they appeared in the Half-Way Tree Criminal Court.
They are scheduled to reappear in court on January 8.
The four are Noel Bryan, Phillip Dunstan, Clayton Fearon and Omar Miller. The four policemen were charged after an October ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Thomas was shot under controversial circumstances on September 28.
The shooting had drawn the ire of the residents of Grants Pen who for days staged demonstrations protesting what they described as cold-*lo**ed murder.
According to initial police reports, members of a police party were on patrol in the Grants Pen community when they saw a group of men acting suspiciously.
On the approach of the lawmen, one of the men allegedly pointed a firearm at them; the police took evasive action and opened fire hitting one of them. A Raven .25 automatic pistol with the serial number erased and a magazine containing five .25 cartridges was reportedly found in Thomas' possession. The other men at the scene ran and made good their escape.
Residents' story
However, residents rejected this story and said that a group of men was sitting on a shop piazza on the gully side, when a group of policemen approached them and started to question them.
The residents said the police ordered them out of their house, but when Thomas refused, police started to abuse him. The residents said that during Thomas' protest he was shot. Residents also said that Thomas received additional bullet wounds other to the ones he left the scene of the incident with.
Following the protests, controversy deepened as the four policemen disobeyed an order to return the service vehicle to the Police High Command. The four were ordered arrested by the DPP.
They were yesterday each offered bail in the sum of $1 million. More than 260 persons have been killed by the police in shootings this year.
Meanwhile, Nancy Anderson, human rights lawyer with the Independent Jamaican Council for Human Rights, has welcomed the development in the case, saying that it should be the procedure in all cases.
"We have been calling for proper investigation and bringing persons before the court to prove whether they are guilty or not," she told The Gleaner. That is what should be done when there is a death which appears to be a murder," she said.

STING, How it All Began
0 Comment written below
Unless you live under a rock, that is the only way you would not know about the greatest one night reggae show on earth, but many are not aware how the show came in to being so here is little trip down memory lane about the 'History of Sting'
Believe it or not, Sting owes its beginnings to a simple problem that had popped up: Isaiah Laing needed a car. The year was 1984, and Isaiah Laing, then a corporal in the Jamaica Constabulary Force, decided to keep an event so that he could raise enough money to buy a car because as a top crimefighter, he "coulden take the same bus as the criminals". Laing was no novice in the area of entertainment events, as he had been organizing dances from as early as April 1983 in Spanish Town, St. Catherine. However, Sting was a natural progression for the top crimefighters.
And so, in 1984 Sting was born at Cinema I in New Kingston. The name was inspired by a local popular slang: "Sting yuh a sting an' a shock you a shock!". The name was further reinforced when dee jay, Michael Palmer who was famous for his hit: "Dem a Lick Shot" saw Laing and asked to be on the show. He said " a me a sting an yu a di boss!". The first year saw over 4,000 patrons turning out at Cinema II, to see top flight deejay Papa San and Junior Reid, who was a debutante on the professional stage at this time. The admission was then JA-$ 20, From the proceeds, Laing eventually bought a Toyota Corolla. What he did not expect was that he had established an event that would serve as the launching pad for the careers of hundreds of artistes. By virtue of its cultural significance, it has played an integral role in the history of Jamaica's music as"The Greatest One Night Reggae Show On Earth". Sting has become a proving ground, an exercise in one-upmanship on the stage that it is simply the calendar event that the entire entertainment fraternity looks forward to every year. It is the benchmark by which artistes are weighed and sometimes found wanting.
After 1984, Sting was subsequently held at Cinema II until 1986 when over 13.000 patrons packed the venue to see Tiger buss the place with the humorous ode against greed, "No Wanga Gut, No Wanga Belly". Given the turnout, the promoters were forced to relocate the show to the more upscale and upscale Cinema I grounds for the following year's staging of the event. In 1987, over 22,000 patrons shelled out JA-$ 40, to witness the inaugural Four The Hard Way between speed-talker Papa San and Lieutenant Stitchie, Admiral Bailey and Professor Nuts. Leading the singers' line-up were Pinchers, Leroy Gibbons and Frankie Paul, who were managed by Laings company, Supreme Productions Limited. At this time, Supreme Productions Limited had expanded, and functioned as an artiste management outfit and a booking agency, in addition to show coordination.
In 1988, the growing buzz on Sting forced the organizers to seek a larger venue to accommodate the legions of dancehall fans that began to follow the event. The National Stadium was chosen and the likes of Ninja Man, Red Dragon, Flourgon, Sanchez, and international star, Maxi Priest lit up the venue with marquis performances.
In 1988, patrons flocked to the venue to see the likes of Flourgon, Red Dragon, Ninja Man and Junior Demus. That clash got to the point where the microphones had to be turned off, a foreshadowing of darker events to come. In 1989, Barrington Levy, Gregory Isaacs, Freddy McGregor and Dennis Brown faced off to see who could be the best at serenading the over 27.000 patrons. The Fat Boys were also featured at that year's staging, which was beamed live for the first time to the USA and Canada. The following year, in 1990, over 30.000 patrons were entertained with the "Clash of the Century" between Ninja Man and Shabba Ranks, who had risen to the pinnacle of the deejay scene from the year before. This was the scene of the famous doo doo pants diss that cemented Ninjamans reputation as a lyrical assassin.
In 1991, STING had its largest crowd of over 42.000 and it has been recorded as the biggest turnout for any one day reggae event in Jamaica. That record still stands. The following year, over 10.000 children turned out for "Kiddies Sting" which was headlined by US teen stars Kriss Kross. STING remained at the National Stadium until 1992 when it was moved to Jamworld which was to be its new home for the next four years.
That year, the event celebrated its tenth anniversary in fine style, as a three part event - "Slam" on Christmas Eve at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre - a pre-Christmas party for teenagers; "Golden Memories Filled With Love" on Christmas Day at Jamworld. This second leg showcased Jamaica's best from the ska and vintage eras. The climax took place on Boxing Day featuring the best of Jamaica's dancehall. In 1997, STING went back to the National Stadium for another year, but due to the Reggae Boys' preparation for the World Cup, the organizers were forced to return to Jamworld in 1998.
Sting went through an uncertain period between 1999 to 2001 when Bounty Killer decided to challenge Stings supremacy as the must-attend event of the Christmas season with his own, Saddle to the East show on Christmas Day. This presented a challenge for Laing and his team because artistes often performed free at the event and then commanded large salaries at Sting, negatively affecting his bottomline. Bounty Killer also refused to attend Sting for two years as he held his event, and the third year, he showed up at Sting but he was not advertised.
In 2004, Sting achieved a new first when it got its first title sponsor, Magnum, for the 20th anniversary show. Sting also survived a near-apocalyptic ending to its show in 2003 when up-and-comer Vybz Kartel physically attacked Ninjaman onstage. After the onstage melee had ended, emcee Nuffy made an ill-timed announcement regarding Bounty Killers refusal to perform, and a hail of bottles descended on the stage. Several persons were injured, however Beenie Man was able to close the show and regain some amount of sanity to that nights proceedings and I guess one could say the rest is history.
The remnants of a huge crowd, at Sting 2007 turned away from the stage at Jamworld Portmore at 7:32 a.m., today.
Those who remained were mainly in the VIP section as the regular entry section emptied out during the closing group performance of Vybz Kartel, Aidonia and other members of the Portmore Empire. The Empire closed off a concert with numerous band changes and a mixed line-up with the overall result well below Sting's explosive standards.
Ninja at Sting
Early excitement came from Ninja Man who was slated to perform at 11:45 p.m., but actually did not hit the stage until 1:16 a.m., demanding a clash which never materialised. Although there were brief flashes from Fanton Mojah, Shane-O and Bugle with Warrior King and I-Octane getting a more sustained positive response, it was not until two hours after Mr. Sting that Assassin opening with Gully Sitten and closing with Don' Mek mi Hol Yuh provided a much satisfactory showing.
It was the beginning of a dancehall run with Mavado originally slated for 12:45 a.m., coming on close to 3:30 a.m. With every song from his opening take on Amazing Grace earning huge forwards through departures and returns to the stage, he had by far the night's the best extended sustained showing.
Bounty Killer complimented his offspring on a good showing, himself earning a strong response which heightened when he addressed 'Fisheenie', and adjusted a line in Cyaan Believe Mi Eye to 'Cyan believe seh Kartel bleach out him face.'
However, the ill-timed mixture of deejays and cultural singers that was part of the weakness of Sting 2007, began with Jah Cure coming on just past 4:00 a.m. Although he was very warmly received during his 30-minute performance with Longing For, Richie Spice who followed was not. Goodbye handclaps beginning in Grooving My Girl.
Richie Spice was not the only person to suffer the handclap fate as Deva Bratt, Junior Reid and Hero also received such responses. Busy Signal, coming on at 5:00 a.m. was in good form, climaxing with Nah Go a Jail Again but Deva Bratt followed.
A band change and Hero did not help and it was Etana's closing, Roots that got her in the audience graces. There was a strong run of short showings from Ifrica whose closing Daddy hit home. Lutan Fyah blazed fire on the Catholic priests; Chuck Fendah who 'gashed away' and Notorious Turbulence and Royal Tarrus Riley. But then came Junior Reid at 6:30 a.m.with his guest rapper Eve who was not saved from the hand clap fate.
Sting 2007 surged to a close with Spice 'talking up the di tings dem' on Beenie Man and D'Angel with explosive effect. Anthony B went for the groin and did some good Damage and the Portmore Empire, Aidonia up first calling up Kartel and the rest of the crew put a lid on Sting 2007.
However, although many of the Empire's song struck a chord with the audience, the exchange of lyrics on stage was far from the emphatic closing required from Sting 2007 to compensate for the lulls before. There was a single crowd disturbance at the rear left during Mavado's performance which did not interrupt the flow of songs.
According to Flexx, he was assisting in dropping home some people after the party, including the Monster Twinz, but ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"A bredda hold wi up out a di stop light a Spanish Town Road and Maxfield Avenue, after mi a drop home Monster dem. Flexx says he did not bother to report the matter to the police as nothing was taken from them.
Ringo of the Monster Twinz says the incident occurred at around 4:30 a.m. "Afta wi keep wi party an every ting nice an wi a guh home. As wi stop a di light, a likkle man push one gun inna di car an sey 'Yow! Gimmie every ting uno have', an mi haffi jus start ball out, 'A TOK an Monsta Twins', an him jus ease up an walk weh an disappear."
Respect to shotta
"Wi respect goes out to dah shotta dey, fi di ease up wey him gi wi, 'cause him neva haffi response, a who wi, a jus di mercy a God. Wi also voice a new tune right away name God Ova Devil," Ringo said.
The concert treat, dubbed 'D Link Christmas' featured other artistes including, Voicemail, Zumjay, Kiprich, Bugle and Black Er. The concert was to promote peace, love and unity for the Christmas season and the upcoming year.

The greeting read: "I asked Big Guy if I could sneak back and send some cards. At first he said no; but at my insistence he finally said, 'Oh well, what the heaven, go ahead but don't (tarry) there.' Wish I could tell you about things here but words cannot explain.
"Better get back as Big Guy said he stretched a point to let me in the first time, so I had better not press my luck. I'll probably be seeing you (some sooner than you think). Wishing you a very Merry Christmas. Chet Fitch"
A friend for nearly 25 years, Debbie Hansen Bernard said, "All I could think was, 'You little stinker.'"
"It was amazing," she said. "Just so Chet, always wanting to get the last laugh."
The mailing was a joke Fitch worked on for two decades with his barber, Patty Dean, 57. She told the Ashland Daily Tidings this week that he kept updating the mailing list and giving her extra money when postal rates went up. This fall, she said, Fitch looked up to her from the chair.
"You must be getting tired of waiting to mail those cards," he told her. "I think you'll probably be able to mail them this year."
He died a week later.
Dancehall fans at the Aqua Beach Park, in Montego Bay, got a house call from the Doctor, Beenie Man, early Saturday morning, and, in a mere half hour, he had properly diagnosed, medicated and left the patrons in a state of musical wellness.
Beenie Man, the STAR's Artiste of the Month, actually started the day not feeling well and at one point it was feared that he might not have made the trip for the special autograph signing session and charity concert. However, he did not disappoint.
After his protracted autograph signing session, the Doctor hit centrestage at 1:33 a.m. and promptly showed his awareness of the violence that has been plaguing the western city by issuing an urgent plea to the "shottas" to lay down their arms and allow peace to reign.
Beenie Man, who performed on tracks, quickly got the fans dancing and screaming with delight as after lyrically asking to, "Mek me se the hand a go up", he increased the tempo with the popular, Come Again, which he followed acapella-style, with, Who God Bless.
With the fans urging him on, Beenie Man soothed them with, Memories and then went in overdrive, dancing up a storm as he drew rich applaud coasting masterfully through, Wickedest Slam, Fassy Dem, Girls' Dem Sugar and the classic, Sim Simma.
After breaking briefly to explain that he had spent the last few hours at a medical doctor because he was not feeling well, Beenie Man invited female side-kick, Barbee, to join him on stage for the song Dude, but she declined the invitation, citing hoarseness.
In delivering, Dude, on his own, Beenie Man went into a scintillating dance routine, showing off his mastery of the various dance moves. He spoke about his failed marriage with fellow artiste D'Angel, stating that, "some people seh me a go mad because me wife tek another man," before rolling lyrically into the song, No Gal.
No to violence

After inviting deejay Beela and his baby son on stage to show their worth, Beenie Man again took time out to discuss the violence plaguing Montego Bay and said he would like the police to use the same urgency used in tracking down cop-killers to investigate the murder of ordinary citizens.
The Doctor continued his musical journey with delightful renditions of, Back It Up, Heart Attack and Taxi, which he delivered with a sexual overtone.
With the fans in ecstasy and Beenie Man in full command, he went about stirring up some amount of controversy by questioning whether or not Mavado qualified to be the "DJ of the Year" since, in his estimation, the rising dancehall star was a singer and not a deejay.
During his tirade about Mavado, Beenie Man also spoke about Vybz Kartel and his old nemesis Bounty Killer, whom he described as "my artistes fe years".
With the audience clearly satiated by both his lyrics and social commentary, Beenie Man ended his set at precisely 2:05 a.m. with the thought-provoking song, Every Day Another Mother Cry, which spoke to the dislocation being caused by violence.
Prior to Beenie Man's appearance on stage, the fans were given a brief taste of the DJ Jah Clarity and veteran singer Major Lloyd. Major Lloyd impressed greatly, especially with his masterful rendition of the love ballad, Knock Three Times.
I just got an IM from a dupes saying munga nah deh ah sting.................leave comments on the whole situation
Wow check out this story posted on mediatakeout.com...seems that Chris Stokes was accused of molesting his cousins and what's more there's proof.
According to Chris Stokes "That was years ago, I'm not like that anymore, I don't do that...I just don't do that in my life anymore"
For years there has been speculation that Chris Stokes, the man behind B2K and Marques Houston's career, was a child molester. Now former B2K member Raz B and his brother Ricky Romance appear to be confirming that speculation.
In the video being posted on YouTube, Raz B admitted that Chris Stokes molested him and other members of the group B2K. Here's an excerpt of a conversation between Raz B and Marques Houston's sister:
Raz B: It all started with Chris Stokes. Chris was like - let me touch you ...
Marques Houston's Sister: Did he touch everybody, or was it just you?
Raz B: You know what, I can't speak for everybody, but if you want my personal opinion, I think he did.
And here's what Raz B's brother, Ricky Romance said on the same video: "Chris [Stokes] made me take showers with the other boys... All the [things] that my brother was introduced to, that [EXPLETIVE] was brought to me first. I blocked that [EXPLETIVE] and I wasn't with it - I backed out ... I kinda knew what was going on
there. And yet, I took my brother [Raz B] over to Chris, and I didn't protect him like I should have." "[Chris Stokes] molested my brother [Raz B] and he molested me ... when I say that, it hurts."
Later on in the video, Chris Stokes is heard on the phone telling Ricky Romance, "I don't do that anymore, That was me years ago ... I just don't do that in my life anymore."
