Dear Bella:
I have been with a man for over five years and we have a beautiful child together. While we have been together he has put me through hell and back. He has been cheating on me and I knew about it but I forgave him because I really loved him; then I got pregnant for him. While I was pregnant I found out that the girl that he was cheating on me with was pregnant too.

However it didnt dawn on me that it could be his due to the fact that she has her boyfriend, then when the baby came the baby looked nothing like her boyfriend so he decided to go and have a DNA test done.

It turned out not be his so she decided to give it to my boyfriend because as women we dont want to look stupid so if you find a donkey you will ride it. Anyways, my boyfriend took it and we were trying to work it out still. However, we are no longer together but I still have feelings for him and I really dont want to please advise me to what I should do.

Confused

Dear Confused:

There are various signs that you should take care to notice in a relationship that will tell you whether or not your other half is as committed as you are, and whether they are in it for the long haul. There are signs that should show love, respect and trust, and relationships that last often have testaments from those involved that their spouse not only proclaimed love, but showed it as well through their actions.

Love is more than a three word utterance; it involves caring and putting that person's feelings many times above yours. From your letter, you've obviously exhausted your share of 'love'. You not only SAY you love this man, but you have SHOWED how much you love him by forgiving him time and again, and even forgiving another child -- what may have been one of the hardest tests of your relationship. Your actions show that you are selfless and you deserve the utmost respect for being so strong.

The first advice of anyone rational looking on, would be to tell you to move on with your life because this man has breached your trust and has done a seemingly unforgivable thing. Anyone reading your letter would realise that you are a woman who deserves much more than what this man has offered you. But we both know that it's never that easy. So instead of going with the obvious, let me point to some things you should consider in the making of your decision. And ultimately, I can only offer advice; the decision should be yours and yours alone.

One positive thing on his part is that he has accepted this other child and will hopefully play a part in the child's life. This shows that he has some character and that's good. You must have obviously seen other good qualities in him to have stayed with him so long, and to want to continue to be with him.

Having said that, I would advise you to think hard before you make any decision. Make a list of the pros and cons of being with him. Take a notebook and outline his good qualities and his bad. Highlight all that he has done wrong and all that he has done right. At the end, make your decision based on which category outweighs the other.

Think too about what you can live with and what you can't and what you deserve and what you don't. Think about how you felt each time he has wronged you, and consider whether these are emotions you can cope with again, as it may happen again. You have not given any indication that he is repentant and that's somewhat worrying. I'm hoping that he has at least told you sorry, and that he wants to revive the relationship as mush as you do. If he hasn't showed remorse, you may have even more trials if you rekindle things with him.

Remember, you should never settle for someone who treats you badly just because you love them. Everyone deserves love. But no one deserves to be constantly hurt in the name of it
My cheating boyfriend's name is on my skin
Hi Bella I got my boyfriend name tattooed on my skin and he is cheating on me, what should I do Bella? I am confused.

Dear Confused:

That was a dumb thing to do! Didn't they tell you that tattoos last forever? Unless you have thousands of dollars for laser treatments that is!

There's not much that I can tell you. You've already been inked and the guy's a loser. Here's a thought, see if the tattoo can be converted to something else - like a more pleasing name or symbol and change it. Otherwise you could get another boyfriend with the same name :)

But word of advice to all you tattoo lovers: think seriously before you ink. Know what PERMANENT means. And if you're going to put something on your skin that's going to be there for your grandkids to see, let it be something more meaningful than a guy's name. Or get a fake one. Those can be washed off as soon as the love fades.

Dear Bella:
I have been thinking about writing you for a very long time but I was sceptical. You have this biased thing towards men in my opinion. Anyway I have a very serious concern about my girl and I want a second opinion besides what my friends tell me.

This is the thing. I have a feeling my girlfriends boss is rolling on her quietly. I just have this gut feeling Bella. This man is giving her extra pay, giving her ride home, and inviting her out for business sessions.

She keeps telling it aint anything going on. She said he is the best boss she ever had. I dont believe that crap. A good boss doesnt be giving her ride home, extra money and all that. This man got a wife and kids. He need to stick to them before I do something wrong. He needs to leave ma girl alone.

She aint want to leave the job. I tell her I aint comfortable. She says she loves me and wouldnt hurt me and her boss just being nice. That cools me down for a while until the other day I see him carrying her lunch. Man all this make a dog sick.

My friends say she horning me but I trying my best not to flip. But I think I going to flip soon if she aint leave that job.

Dear sir:

First of all I wont even attempt to answer your views on my column. I think you are a insecure, very insecure. Let me tell you something and take this very serious. If there should be any cheating, do not, and I repeat, do not blame the boss. Take the issue up with your girl. Even if the boss makes a pass she is woman enough to put him in his place or find another job. Thats sexual hara**c*atment and he can be reported. She has the power in her hands to make a difference. He is basically giving her a choice and she has to choose.

I dont see anything wrong with your boss bringing her to lunch. How often does he take her to lunch? Do you ask her what they discuss at lunch? By the way what proof do you have that he gives her extra pay and if so, why? Is it for overtime? I do not understand you guys and this flipping thing. You might flip till you flop.

Bosses do that all the time. I had a boss who did the same thing. I was his favourite employee and he brought me to lunch to discuss ideas about his business. Sometimes he invites me to his family get together. So come on, lighten up; stop listening to your friends. And not all gut feeling is real.

If you continue you might ruin the girls opportunity for a possible promotion. Just watch things for a while. If it gets too frequent or too intense and if there are signs that you are losing her attention and love, then let me know. But whatever happens, leave the man alone. You might dig up an ants nest and you will get bite.

Fat Joe is slated to release his eighth solo album this year, a testament to an unusually lengthy rap career. His money, though, may not be so long.

According to internet reports, the real Elephant in the Room might be the near $150,000 deep Joey Crack is in to the tax man.

According to official state documents the rapper (born Joseph Cartagena) owes the IRS $70,000 while his company Terror Squad Productions is back $70,494.52 in taxes.

According to Fat Joe though, he's good for it. Just earlier this month he made an appearance on BET's "Rap City" where he announced that his long-standing beef with mogul 50 Cent has amassed him millions.

"Since I've been beefing with 50 Cent I've become so much richer in my life, so much more millions and keep dropping hit records."

The Elephant in the Room will feature appearances from Diddy, Rick Ross, Fabolous and production from Scott Storch, Cool & Dre, DJ Khaled, Nate "Danja" Hills and The Runners. The project is expected to be released in March 11.

Tuesday, 29 January 2008 All is reported to be back to normal in the village in Guyana where 11 people were murdered by a suspected criminal gang last weekend.

Monday police fired tear gas on angry crowds of protesters who blocked roads along the country's East Coast.
Police say both areas in Demarera and Berbice are calm and there was no presence today of any protestors.

People went back to work, shops were open, school children are back in their numbers and there were no signs of protest.

Earlier Tuesday sanitation workers were trying to pick up the remains of burning debris that were used in the protests in lower east coast Demarera, the centre of the unrest.

Edwards 'quits' White House race

January 30, 2008
Started By ZJSnyper2 Comments
Democrat John Edwards is exiting the race for the White House after failing to win any of the four party nomination contests held so far, officials say.

Members of his team said the former North Carolina senator had decided not to continue to Super Tuesday next week.

He lost Iowa's caucuses, came third in New Hampshire, admitted getting his "butt kicked" in Nevada and came third in his native South Carolina.

The two-time candidate reportedly plans to make a statement soon.

It is not yet clear if the 54 year-old will endorse either of the two current Democratic front-runners, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

His withdrawal leaves the Democratic contest to be the party's presidential nominee as a two-horse race, say correspondents, pitting the New York senator and former First Lady against the Illinois senator.

Mr Edwards was the Democrats' nominee for vice-president in 2004.

His spokeswoman Colleen Murray told AFP news agency that Mr Edwards would publicly announce the end to his White House bid in New Orleans, where he formally launched his campaign in 2006.

Mr Edwards's campaign website said he was scheduled to make a speech on poverty at a community project in the flood-ravaged Louisiana city on Wednesday 1300 local time (1900 GMT).

First, Junior was accused of not settling his debt with someone he did business with...now the latest drama surrounding the 'One *lo**' singer is that he is before the court for child maintenance.

Well, to be fair to the singer he was giving the mother of four 'something' but the amount was way below what it took to adequately take care of so many children.

The case will be called up at the Supreme Court today where the judge is expected to settle on an amount that will see the children being properly taken care of.

'Forced circumcision': the latest weapon in Kenya's ethnic strife

NAIVASHA, Kenya (AFP) - Lying on a *lo**-stained stretcher, Caleb's face is convulsed in pain. "The Kikuyus circumcised me by force," he says, moments before losing consciousness in the hospital's sweltering heat.

The 24-year-old Kenyan is from the Luo tribe, which unlike the rival Kikuyu tribe, does not practice male circumcision.

But in the violent context of Kenya's post-election strife, what has become known as "forced circumcisions" are often outright penile amputations performed with rusty machetes by angry mobs.

In recent days, the usually peaceful town of Naivasha, less than 100 kilometres (60 miles) northwest of Nairobi, has seen some of the worst violence between rival tribal gangs.

The killings were ignited by last month's disputed presidential poll, which saw opposition leader Raila Odinga -- a Luo -- claim that Mwai Kibaki -- a Kikuyu -- had rigged his way to re-election.

"When you cut the genital parts, you bleed a lot and there are a lot of chances that you may die. You suffer like hell," said one medical aid worker at Naivasha hospital.

Such cases of genital mutilations have reported in several parts of the country, notably in several Nairobi slums, since the election dispute touched off a cycle of tit-for-tat killings between rival tribes.

Before passing out from pain, Caleb finds the strength to recount his ordeal.

On Sunday night, "a group of eight men with pangas (machetes) entered. They asked for my ID," he says, explaining that his attackers wanted to see his name and determine which tribe he belonged to.

Voting in the December presidential poll was conducted largely along tribal lines, with the dominant Kikuyus supporting the incumbent while Luos and allied tribes rallied behind Odinga.

"They slashed me and they circumcised me by force. I screamed a lot and cried for help: 'Mum, I don't want to die far away from home'," he says.

Caleb complains that the police arrived on the scene but eventually left him in a poll of *lo** and made away with the machetes and other weapons left behind by the Kikuyu gang.

His forced circumcision was not the only mutilation he suffered at the hands of his attackers.

Machete wounds to his head are starting to dry up and a *lo**-soaked compress drips down his ankle, as he awaits treatment from Naivasha hospital's overwhelmed staff.

"The Kikuyus don't want us here. They say we are taking their jobs. When I am well, I will go back home. There is no point of risking my life here," Caleb says.

The young man, who moved to Naivasha alone in November to work in one of the area's many flower farms, is from Kisumu, the country's third city and an opposition stronghold where Luos are the majority.

What started as nationwide protests against Kibaki's re-election rapidly degenerated into ethnically-driven revenge killings, with dominant tribes in each region expelling minorities.

The violence spread to Naivasha last week, with Kikuyus organising themselves in gangs to drive out mainly Luos whom they say have settled their homeland.

"We want to remove the Luos from here because they removed us from Kisumu and Eldoret," says one Kikuyu who refused to reveal his name.

Kisumu and Eldoret are two of the main cities in western Kenya, which saw the worst of the violence that erupterd in the immediate aftermath of the elections.

The young Kikuyu and a mob of armed fellow tribesmen shout "Go home" in unison, standing defiantly outside a police station where some 200 terrified Luos have found temporary shelter and await a bus that will spirit them out of Naivasha.

Close to 1,000 people have died in protests, riots, police raids and tribal clashes across the country since the election.

welve killed by gunmen in Guyana

January 27, 2008

Saturday, 26 January 2008 Image Gunmen went on a rampage early Saturday morning in Guyana, killing 12 people, including three children.

It is reported that the gunmen stormed the east coast village, not far from the troublesome Buxton village, and killed their victims during a 20-minute shooting spree.

The police said two persons have been hospitalised.

The authorities said that the gunmen attacked five houses in the area with high-powered weapons and using night-vision glasses.

Television footage showed live rounds, spent shells and the night-vision goggles in a resident's yard.

On Friday, carload of heavily-armed men also attacked the police headquarters at Eve Leary, injuring two police officers.

Police Commissioner, Henry Greene, said the country's most wanted fugitive Rondell Fineman' Rawlins, may have been behind the attacks.

The police said they were taking seriously a telephone call allegedly made by Rawlins that he would create mayhem in the country if his common law wife, 18-year old Tenisha Morgan is not released by abductors.

The Police have offered a US$25,000 reward for the capture of Rawlins.

He is wanted for several murders including that of a former Guyanese agriculture minister two years ago.
Tuesday, 29 January 2008 Suriname has put its security forces on alert following last weekend's gruesome murders in neighbouring Guyana.

Both the police and the national army have increased patrols in Nickerie along the border with Guyana.

Police spokesman Humphrey Naarden told reporters that stations had been beefed up and patrols on the Corantyne River as well as the backtrack route on the Nickerie River had been increased.

Guyana police are searching for the killers of 11 people including five children in the East Coast Demerara village of Lusignan on Saturday.

The police have linked the murders to a group of heavily armed men that the authorities say include the country's most wanted criminal Rondel Rawlins also known as 'Fine Man'.

Rawlins is reported to have warned law enforcement authorities that there would be mayhem in the country if his reputed pregnant common law wife was not released by abductors.

The police have offered a reward of 30 million Guyanese dollars or US$150,000 for his capture.

He is wanted for several murders, including the April 2000 assassination of Agriculture Minister Satyadeow 'Sash' Sawh, and several of his relatives.

Suriname authorities have also stepped up their inspection of persons using the "backtrack route" and police say there is no indication that the perpetrators of the attacks have crossed the border.

On the highly anticipated and well-attended final night of the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, many patrons went home disappointed by the performance from the diva that reigns supreme, Diana Ross.

Prior to the start of her performance MC Don Topping announced that Ross had requested that there be no live video coverage of her performance. It seemed the anticipation perhaps distracted some patrons from Topping's comment.

The stage went dark as pop's first and greatest goddess rang out those famous words, "I'm Coming Out." The audience was euphoric, despite their inability to see Ross. There were shouts of "Jamaica loves you Diana". The moment further intensified when she repeated the refrain, still nowhere to be seen. And like Dorothy's ruby slippers in The Wizard Of Oz, Ross, now visible, sparkled in red sequin.

There were the trademarks: big ebony hair that immaculately made-up face, layers of organza and her signature hand wave. Ross followed I'm Coming Out with more of her early material like the 1964 Supremes classic Where Did Our Love Go, Baby Love and Stop (In The Name Of Love).

Her failure to interact with the audience added insult to injury as people in the middle of the gathering started to sound their discontent. This quickly transferred to the VIP section, which, though closer to the stage, still did not provide its inhabitants with a clear view.

Further on in Ross' performance, the discontent among some audience members seemed to be growing and at this point it became apparent that they were 'booing' her, even as the diva went backstage for her fourth wardrobe change.

Ross seemed to have exited the stage prematurely at about 12:45 am. Topping re-entered the stage to ask patrons if they wanted an encore.

"Nooooo. Boooo," was the reaction even as some patrons clapped to show their displeasure. Still, not all patrons were dissatisfied.

"People were expecting too much, I enjoyed myself," said patron Odessa Chambers who told the Observer that Ross' stipulations were not unique.

Notwithstanding, others complained that festival organiser, Turnkey Productions president, Walter Elmore, should have informed the people what kind of show they should have expected, since what Ross did, seemed more like contract agreement rather than just 'diva-esque' behaviour.

Elmore, however, in an interview with the Observer last night, defended his production company's integrity. "What we signed was a standard contract. It wasn't until the eleventh hour that we were advised that she (Diana Ross) would not allow her image to be shown on the big screens," he said.

The Turnkey Productions president defined eleventh hour as "a day before the show", adding that he could have invoked the signed contract which did not stipulate that her performance could not be shown on the screens in the venue, "but the diva that she is, she probably would not have performed, and we could not afford that."

Stating that he has never encountered this kind of behaviour in all his 11 years of doing this festival and the 15 years of Sumfest, Elmore declared that from henceforth, "we will make sure to include image in every contract."

But, Ross' boos were a stark contrast to the shouts of appreciation Billy Ocean - the night's final act - received.

Dapper in a bronze suit, Ocean was stellar on Mystery Lady, The Colour Of Love and Loverboy.

"How you doin' Jamaica," asked the Trinidad-born artiste who relocated to the United Kingdom while still a child. Women screamed, demanding that he sing their respective favourites.

He obliged going into Suddenly, Love Zone and There'll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry). Bantering on, Ocean reminded that audience that his native island's carnival season is in full swing and as such proceeded to demonstrate the Wuk Up. He invited three ladies from the audience to the stage where they engaged in a dance-off.

Still on a high, Ocean charmed with When The Tough Get Going, Get Out Of My Dreams, Get Into My Car and crowd-favourite Caribbean Queen.

But long before the Diana Ross-brouhaha, 79-year-old blues singer KoKo Taylor, glistening in rhinestones and iridescent blue, entertained music lovers.

The sounds of gospel singing sisters Mary Mary were also pleasing to the ear. They brought southern-flavoured church music mixed in with modern-day funk on tracks like Heaven, Shackles and a cover of Stevie Wonder's You Will Know among others.

Though the 11th staging of the Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival can be considered a success perhaps in terms of headcount (arguably 80,000 patrons over three days), the Diana Ross incident somewhat marred the festival's overall presentation.

Pregnant with aids?

January 29, 2008
Started By ZJSnyper12 Comments

Dear Counsellor:

I'm writing with tears in my eyes. My girlfriend is two months pregnant and I just found out that I'm HIV positive. What can I do? Do you think my beloved girlfriend is HIV positive also? I know it is my fault.

Worried Boyfriend

Dear Worried Boyfriend:

I'm really sorry to hear about your girlfriend's infection with HIV the virus that causes AIDS. You should immediately consult a health care provider who is knowledgeable about HIV/AIDS, so that your girlfriend can be counselled and tested. Remember that it is not all persons who get exposed to HIV become infected, therefore you must start practising safer sex right now.

Often HIV spreads from an infected woman to her baby during pregnancy or delivery. However there are treatments available that a pregnant HIV infected woman could take to prevent her baby from becoming infected. Remember now, it is very important for you and your girlfriend to consult an HIV knowledgeable health care provider immediately.

Bootless risks

Dear Counsellor:

My ex-boyfriend died two years ago and I'm now hearing that he died from AIDS. Since my boyfriend's death I became involved with a married man. I'm now very confused because this man always refuse to use condoms and to make it worst his wife may be at risk also. This is frightening!! What should I do?

The Other Woman

Dear the Other Woman:

If your ex-boyfriend died from AIDS related illnesses yes, it means that you and any other sex partners you may have are at risk for HIV the virus that causes AIDS. You have taken a very responsible approach but you must take it a step further by getting tested for HIV. The only sure way to know if you are infected with HIV is to get tested. Remember, it is natural for you to be confused after hearing such news but you have to do the right thing. You should also speak with an HIV knowledgeable counsellor as soon as possible. You should stop having unprotected sex, use a condom for every act and in this way you would prevent infecting your partner or re-infecting each other.

For more information on condom use, HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections call the AIDS/STD Helpline at 967-3830 or 967-3764 or write to AIDS Affairs, c/o the Star, 7 North Street, Kingston.

Dog savages 'owner' to death

January 28, 2008

A MAN has died after being attacked by what was believed to be his own dog.

The victim died in hospital at around 10pm last night, just hours after the attack in east London.

Officers discovered the man, said to be in his mid-50s, being mauled by a rottweiler-type dog in an east London street shortly after 7am yesterday.

Police had to distract the dog before chasing it away, but not before the man received serious head wounds. The dog was later destroyed.

The incident occurred in Newham and police from nearby Forest Gate arrived at the scene to find the dog attacking the man.

The beast - described as being dangerously out of control - was contained while armed officers were called to the scene out of fear for the safety of other people.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to the Royal London Hospital.

The Metropolitan Police has launched an investigation into the incident.

Mavado Banned from St. Vincent

Sinjay, David Brook better known as Mavado was this week banned by Police authorities in St. Vincent and the Grenadines after it was citied that his lyrics are too violent and may help to influence criminal activities. The country's murder rate is now at an alarming 36 deaths a huge jump from last year's figure of 13 in 2006. Even though he has been banned, it's highly likely that his music will still be sold on the island, so much for trying to stop his influence.

Winehouse has cracked it

ITS not often I have good news about AMY WINEHOUSE
but the troubled singer is slowly starting to win her battle against drug addiction.

The Back To Black star spent her fourth day in rehab yesterday, where she is delighting doctors with her progress.

Especially because she hasnt even tried to do a runner.

For the first time it actually looks like Amy is making an effort to sort herself out.

She was admitted to The Capio Nightingale Hospital in central London after our shocking video showed her smoking deadly crack cocaine in a seedy flat in Bow, East London, at 5am.

Amy has since received a visit from close friend MATT LUCAS and his boyrfriend on Sunday as the Little Britain star showed his support.

A relieved close family friend said last night: Although Amy is still taking each day at a time she has done the hardest thing in the world by going into rehab.

She has been ill and is withdrawing but at least she is sticking with it as she detoxes.

With her familys support we are hopeful that there is finally light at the end of the tunnel as she weans herself off drugs.

She will stay in rehab for as long as it takes even if it is three or four weeks.

Nobody is saying it will be easy, but things are looking good at the moment and doctors are encouraged.

The family friend also slammed Amys jailed husband BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL for saying he fears her habits could kill her within three months.

Blake is in Pentonville Prison in London awaiting trial over trial-fixing allegations and GBH.

The friend went on: That is a complete joke. Before Amy met Blake she never took any Class A drugs.

It is him who started her off on crack and heroin.

She has gone into rehab so she lives to see her thirties, forties and fifties.

It would destroy her to read his comments. Thankfully where she is means Amy has not got any contact with Blake at the moment.

She has agreed to pay all his legal costs which could run into Ł300,000 or Ł400,000 when his trial begins.

Blakes family never offered to pay any of the money

But with his comments I am not sure if that arrangement will still exist.

The truth is she is doing fine and needs support from people, not somebody knocking her.

Doctors say it can take a few visits for patients to stay clean when they leave and Amy could easily still take a bit when she comes out.

The classic way is for them to start doing drugs again then end up having to go back into rehab afterwards.

Nobody is sure what will happen but we are all keeping our fingers crossed that this stint does her good.

Amy has still got a long way to go but this is the most encouraging news about her drugs battle Ive heard.

Progressing ... Amy

TSA tester slips mock bomb past airport security

By Jeanne Meserve and Mike M. Ahlers

Quote:

Editor's note: CNN's Jeanne Meserve and producer Mike M. Ahlers recently went along with a Transportation Security Administration official on an undercover test of airport screeners. Here is what they witnessed. CNN agreed not to disclose the name of the tester.

TAMPA, Florida (CNN) -- Jason -- that's the name CNN was asked to call him -- slides a simulated explosive into an elastic back support. The mock bomb is as slim as a wallet; its fuse, the size of a cigarette. He wraps the support around his torso, and the bomb fits comfortably into the small of his back.

It's hard to tell he's concealing anything; harder still when he dons a black T-shirt and a maroon golf shirt.

Then, with CNN's cameras in tow, Jason heads to Tampa International Airport, where he'll try to sneak the fake explosive past security screeners.

Jason, a covert tester for the Transportation Security Administration, has been probing airport weaknesses for five years, beginning with big mock bombs before switching to ever smaller devices as the TSA adapts to evolving terrorist threats. Watch the tester slip past security »

As jobs go, this one comes with its own unique set of satisfactions and tribulations. Jason wants to succeed at his task -- and he wants to fail. Success is a measure of his stealth, hewn by 40 years in law enforcement. But failure is satisfying too, because it means airport screeners are growing more adept at detecting threats.

So Jason -- looking every bit the middle-aged man on an uneventful trip to anywhere -- shows a boarding pass and an ID to a TSA document checker, and he is directed to a checkpoint where, unbeknown to the security officer on site, the real test begins.

He gets through, which in real life would mean a terrorist was headed toward a plane with a bomb.

To be clear, the TSA allowed CNN to see and record this test, and the agency is not concerned with CNN showing it. The TSA says techniques such as the one used in Tampa are known to terrorists and openly discussed on known terror Web sites.

Even before the September 11, 2001, terror attacks, government agencies deployed "red teams" such as this one to look for holes in airport security. The tests have resulted in a torrent of reports criticizing the government for failing to staff, train, manage and equip properly the screener work force, which numbers 43,000.

While test results are classified and rarely leak out, those that have been disclosed typically don't inspire confidence. In tests conducted in 2006 and disclosed to USA Today last year, investigators successfully smuggled 75 percent of fake bombs through checkpoints at Los Angeles International Airport, 60 percent through Chicago's O'Hare International Airport and 20 percent at San Francisco International Airport.

The TSA has disputed some test methodologies and test results. But instead of running from tests, the agency has embraced the idea that testing has a value that goes beyond measuring the performance of individual screeners.

Tests, the TSA says, can show systemwide security vulnerabilities. When used frequently -- as was the case with San Francisco in 2006 -- they can heighten screener awareness. Tests can show areas that need increased attention. And tests can be used to determine whether terrorist plots uncovered by intelligence agencies or being discussed on terrorist Web sites are lunatic rants, or are plausible.

As a result, the TSA says it believes its work force is the most tested in the federal government, with checkpoint drills of various sophistication occurring in every checkpoint at every airport daily.

Almost an hour before Jason approached the checkpoint, a fellow red team member had gone through the checkpoint. It's this member's job to make sure the test is conducted safely.

Five minutes before the test begins, he uses a cell phone to call Tampa's federal security director, the airport's top security official.

"Sir, the reason we're calling today is to tell you that we will be conducting covert testing at your airport," the red team leader says. "But I would ask that you not speak to anyone on your staff to alert them of this test."

The message is clear: Don't tell anyone. Testers say they will scratch a test if they believe anyone has been alerted. The TSA was embarra**c*ated several years ago when word of one test leaked out, and an internal auditor is investigating other possible leaks.

But in Tampa, everything goes smoothly as Jason steps through the metal detector portal. The detector alarm goes off, as Jason expects it to, not because of the nonmetallic device strapped to his back but due to his metal knee.

It's the perfect tool for ensuring he gets to "secondary," where more extensive searches are conducted.

Soon Jason is in a posture familiar to air travelers. He is standing, legs apart, with his arms extended. A screener "wands" him with a hand-held metal detector, and it beeps as it passes his metal knee, his necklace and the rivets on his bluejeans.

The screener then pats him down, running latex-gloved hands over Jason's legs, arms and torso. And he pats down Jason's back, including the lower part where the device is concealed.

But Jason explains away the back support. He tells the screener that he has a bum back in addition to having a metal knee.

With the patdown over, the screener releases Jason. He picks up his belongings and walks freely into the airport, the fake bomb still fastened to his back.

TSA officials say the Tampa test demonstrates the type of systemic vulnerability that the agency is working to expose and address.

Screeners have cultural sensitivities toward travelers' handicaps, and they are sometimes hesitant to perform intrusive searches, officials said. Terrorists could exploit that reluctance, they said.

The TSA screener could have used other relatively unobtrusive means to check Jason's back brace. But he didn't.

After leaving the screening checkpoint, Jason returns with other members of his red team and informs the screener he has failed a test. A fake bomb has just entered their airport.

The screener appears devastated.

The reaction is common, says Jason, adding that notifying screeners of failed tests can be the toughest part of his job.

On occasions, he says, testers have appeared indifferent. In those rare instances, Jason says, he gets "nasty," stressing the importance of the tests. The stakes are too high to tolerate indifference.

Regardless of their reactions, screeners who fail to detect contraband are "pulled off the line" and retrained before being allowed back.

The test CNN witnessed was conducted by the TSA's Office of Inspection, which the agency calls the most sophisticated of its covert tests. But there are others.

For starters, every TSA X-ray machine has a Threat Image Projection system, which digitally inserts images of guns, knives and bombs into the X-rays of luggage, to keep screeners alert. This system library contains "tens of thousands" of images, said TSA spokesman Christopher White.

If screeners observe a suspicious object, they can check with the simple click of a computer mouse. If they detect a threat object, the computer congratulates them. Successes and failures are recorded for use in a screener's performance evaluation and are factors in determining pay.

Some 69,929 threat image tests are conducted on an average day, or more than 25 million tests per year. An array of other tests also are conducted to assess screeners, including the red team ones.

The TSA declines to give test results, which are classified. But it says the agency is getting better at finding bomb parts. And test scores won't demonstrate that, it says, because as success rates improve, tests are made more difficult.

"We're designing our tests not so much to indicate or to show or highlight performance," says Dave Holmes, who runs the Office of Inspection, "but we're highlighting where the vulnerabilities exist."

The elaborate test at the Tampa airport, Holmes says, is not to identify individuals performing below par. It's intended to provide data that, together with other information, will reveal the whole system's performance.

Back at the Tampa checkpoint, a member of Jason's red team is holding court with a group of screeners, including the one who missed the fake bomb.

On Friday, Jill Scott performed a wicked extended set after Lou Gramm, known for the 1984 hit, I Wanna Know What Love Is failed to recover from his bout with the flu in time to perform. Although he was missed, the organisers did their best to give a great show. They also brought on Ernie Smith on the smaller stage and he rocked a crowd of 4,000 plus in the early morning.

Billy Ocean closed the show on Saturday morning with the hits after Diana Ross pulled off another of her infamous 'diva' moments. She insisted that no filming take place during her set which meant that the large crowd could not get to see her on any of the large screen projection sets in the venue. Further, she requested that the sound be turned down and so disgruntled fans, who could not hear or see her, did the only thing they could do, let their voices be heard with a loud boo which Ms. Ross will not soon forget. One patron in the crowd remarked that this was the Angel treatment. Special props to Chalice who flattened the venue with the hits, Pocomania Day and Revival Time.

MACKA DIAMOND BINGO WAS OK
I heard on the grapevine that the crowd turnout at Macka Diamond's bingo party was not all that great and that the bingo-playing crowd left soon after the games ended. However, a number of artistes such as Capleton showed up to support her, and performed short sets before the event wrapped up. We will give you more later, mi gone ah bed now, (yawn)..tired bad.

'All Lies' Says Jeffrey Hype

A recent story carried about the University of the West Indies administration putting pressure on the promoters of Spectrum to have Vybz Kartel and Spice removed from the concert line up because of concerns, seems to have struck a nerve with the deejay and members of his team.

In an exclusive interview with the 876radio.com the deejay's right hand man Jeffrey Hype who appeared very perturbed at the time of our visit, said the information that is being fed to the public is totally false. He admits that some interest was shown initially by the promoters to have Kartel on the roster, but no official request was made and so it's not possible for the administration to drop him from the line up if he was not booked for the event.

Hype said the only persons from the camp they received a request for was upcoming deejay Black Ryno and just wants to set the record straight that the 'Teacha' was never booked for the event and therefore such a statement is not valid.

Dancehall insiders are speculating that if Kartel was omitted from the line up because of constant bad press and other concerns, then how does one explain the current line up, which features the likes of; Mavado, Busy Signal, Jah Cure, Black Ryno, Sizzla and many others, most of whom have all had run ins with the law.

In closing Hype said regarding the omission of the deejay's videos by a particular local cable station, he has no grouse with them "Mi respect dem same way .. whether dem play the deejay video or not".

tHE GAY BOMB

A Berkeley watchdog organization that tracks military spending said it uncovered a strange U.S. military proposal to create a hormone bomb that could purportedly turn enemy soldiers into homosexuals and make them more interested in sex than fighting. Pentagon officials on Friday confirmed to CBS 5 that military leaders had considered, and then subsquently rejected, building the so-called "Gay Bomb."Edward Hammond, of Berkeley's Sunshine Project, had used the Freedom of Information Act to obtain a copy of the proposal from the Air Force's Wright Laboratory in Dayton, Ohio.As part of a military effort to develop non-lethal weapons, the proposal suggested, "One distasteful but completely non-lethal example would be strong aphrodisiacs, especially if the chemical also caused homosexual behavior."The documents show the Air Force lab asked for $7.5 million to develop such a chemical weapon."The Ohio Air Force lab proposed that a bomb be developed that contained a chemical that would cause enemy soldiers to become gay, and to have their units break down because all their soldiers became irresistably attractive to one another," Hammond said after reviewing the documents.

"The notion was that a chemical that would probably be pleasant in the human body in low quantities could be identified, and by virtue of either breathing or having their skin exposed to this chemical, the notion was that soliders would become gay," explained Hammond. The Pentagon told CBS 5 that the proposal was made by the Air Force in 1994."The Department of Defense is committed to identifying, researching and developing non-lethal weapons that will support our men and women in uniform," said a DOD spokesperson, who indicated that the "gay bomb" idea was quickly dismissed.

Macka Diamond, How old are you

How old are you now? That was the question on everyones lips Friday night, as soon as Macka Diamond exited the black stretch Limousine, looking flawless, not a day over 21.

The Money Goddess looked fabulous and was obviously in a generously-fabulous mood, because what other entertainer you know gets up and say lets have some fun and make people have fun too, by winning money, real money?

And what about the fridge, stove, washing machine, phone, Iron, pressure-cooker, clothes, liquor and the list goes on and on and on Money-O-Bingo-with-the-Stars, Macka Diamonds birthday bash, held at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, Friday January 25th in Kingston, was simply that, a bash, and one with a difference. The crowd was different, and the night was incident free. What was advertised was delivered, with even a blind lady coming out for bingo and to say happy birthday to Macka.

Late start aside and the lengthy bingo segment, Macka Diamonds Money-O-Bingo-With-The-Stars was a success with all the trimmings to make it different. Diamond District Ja. can put a feather in their hat, because from the set-up to Mackas entrance, everything was on point.

But what is a night without the police showing up to stop the fun these days? Which like almost all the major shows recently, Macka Diamonds birthday bash was not speared. They showed up and did the norm, shut it down, but not before Bingo-with-the-Stars also saw energetic live performances from the likes of Capleton, Coco Tea, Junior Reids sons, Andrew and Wadda *lo**, Shane-O, Bling Dawg , DAngel, Hero, ra**c*at Shady, Fanton Mojah and a host of others before the premature end.

But with all that said, one thing is for sure, with the Money Goddess, talk of money is never just that, because like she said on stage before thanking her fans, it was money-money-money-moneymoney fi mi Right before saying, thanks for coming out to my 21st Birthday Party, well do it next year again when I will be 21 AGAIN!!
TalkingDisabled Spy Satellite Threatens Earth

(01-27) 04:26 PST WASHINGTON, (AP) --

A large U.S. spy satellite has lost power and could hit the Earth in late February or early March, government officials said Saturday.

The satellite, which no longer can be controlled, could contain hazardous materials, and it is unknown where on the planet it might come down, they said. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the information is classified as secret. It was not clear how long ago the satellite lost power, or under what circumstances.

"Appropriate government agencies are monitoring the situation," said Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for the National Security Council, when asked about the situation after it was disclosed by other officials. "Numerous satellites over the years have come out of orbit and fallen harmlessly. We are looking at potential options to mitigate any possible damage this satellite may cause."

He would not comment on whether it is possible for the satellite to perhaps be shot down by a missile. He said it would be inappropriate to discuss any specifics at this time.

A senior government official said that lawmakers and other nations are being kept apprised of the situation.

The spacecraft contains hydrazine which is rocket fuel according to a government official who was not authorized to speak publicly but spoke on condition of anonymity. Hydrazine, a colorless liquid with an ammonia-like odor, is a toxic chemical and can cause harm to anyone who contacts it.

Such an uncontrolled re-entry could risk exposure of U.S. secrets, said John Pike, a defense and intelligence expert. Spy satellites typically are disposed of through a controlled re-entry into the ocean so that no one else can access the spacecraft, he said.

Pike also said it's not likely the threat from the satellite could be eliminated by shooting it down with a missile, because that would create debris that would then re-enter the atmosphere and burn up or hit the ground.

Pike, director of the defense research group GlobalSecurity.org, estimated that the spacecraft weighs about 20,000 pounds and is the size of a small bus. He said the satellite would create 10 times less debris than the Columbia space shuttle crash in 2003. Satellites have natural decay periods, and it's possible this one died as long as a year ago and is just now getting ready to re-enter the atmosphere, he said.

Jeffrey Richelson, a senior fellow with the National Security Archive, said the spacecraft likely is a photo reconnaissance satellite. Such eyes in the sky are used to gather visual information from space about adversarial governments and terror groups, including construction at suspected nuclear sites or militant training camps. The satellites also can be used to survey damage from hurricanes, fires and other natural disasters.

The largest uncontrolled re-entry by a NASA spacecraft was Skylab, the 78-ton abandoned space station that fell from orbit in 1979. Its debris dropped harmlessly into the Indian Ocean and across a remote section of western Australia.

In 2000, NASA engineers successfully directed a safe de-orbit of the 17-ton Compton Gamma Ray Observatory, using rockets aboard the satellite to bring it down in a remote part of the Pacific Ocean.

In 2002, officials believe debris from a 7,000-pound science satellite smacked into the Earth's atmosphere and rained down over the Persian Gulf, a few thousand miles from where they first predicted it would plummet.

Prowling pit bull shot by police

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (WSVN) -- A dog owner is mourning the loss of his pit bull after Police said they were forced to fire when the dog got loose.

A family said they were in fear of going outside when the prowling pit bull made them prisoners in their own home Friday night. Young Michael Carbo was so afraid of going outside he missed his martial arts class.

Carbo's mother said she stayed inside because she feared if she went out onto the patio, the dog might kill her and her two boys, so her husband called 911.

As one of the Hollywood police officers went to put a note on dog owner Alexander Mateo-Perez's door, neighbors said the pit bull scaled a 4-foot fence and lunged at a second officer, forcing them to fire. "I was in the backyard cutting the gra**c*at, and I hear 'bang, bang, bang, bang, bang,'" said neighbor Docke Arid.

Dawn Parisi said the dog looked ferocious. "He was foaming at the mouth," she said. "His eyes were really bright red. It was like he was protecting the house."

Arid said Mateo-Perez was distraught over the loss of his dog. "The owner was in tears," he said. "I guess they have another dog that was in heat, and I guess it was protecting the property."

While Arid wished the situation had a different outcome, Parisi said the two officers had no other option but to fire. "Once the dog stopped and came back after him and actually lunged at him, there was no other choice."

Carbo was a bit sad that the dog was killed but is grateful that he can go to class safely.

Mateo-Perez said he still doesn't know how the dog got out.

Kartel Banned For Life

2097745163.jpgIt seem that the situation between Ace Bembe selector Jigsy and Vybz Kartel has intensified for the worst. Just last week Kartel was accused by Jigsy of disrespecting him after he was called off stage by a member of Kartel's entourage and when he went to see him his chain was yanked from his neck, Hennessey poured on him before being gun butted and punched up.

In a statement released by Kartel he said as far as he knows the relationship between himself and Jigsy is in good standing, he could not have attacked Jigsy because he was not in the venue at the time of the incident, and said he apologises on behave of his fans who may have committed the act and advised Jigsy to report the incident to the relevant authorities.

In an recent interview with Jigsy....
He had this to say.

"Dere is no relationship between mi and Kartel we NOT friends him diss me fi nuttin, and den a lie to the media bout wha happen"

We pointed to the statement Kartel issued and asked if there is a possibility that it could have been someone else that ressembled the deejay, providing that the area was poorly lit, with a commanding voice he exclaimed.

"Ressemble wha listen mi nuh... yuh nuh know mi... mi look like mi blind a Kartel mi see when mi reach him come from behind the box and seh ..hey bwoy Jigsy yuh nuh rate mi and grab on pon mi chain and buss it off, tek him Hennessey and wet mi up and gun butt me and him followers dem tump mi up".

Seeing that Kartel had issued a statement apologising for the actions, we asked if there was any possibility of a reconciliation between the two.

"Recon who ... Mi nuh want nuh friend from him, him diss mi and mi just a guh low him, mi just want oonu know seh him get ban from Bembe him and him song dem fi life..dat means nuh kartel nah play a Bembe cause seet deh him diss the whole a di man dem, every selector a Bembe him diss fi nuttin, but Kartel a bad man so mi ago just left him to Father GOD"

With the banned now imposed we asked how he plans to enforce it. He told us there is a restraining order against Kartel, so he is not allowed to come within a certain distance of him. We asked what was the distance and his reponse was "Mi nuh know, but di further di betta".

Now with that said we wanted to know if the banned was extended to members of his crew (Portmore Empire),
"Mi cyaah stop a man from guh weh him wah guh, right now a just Kartel mi nuh want round me".

Ironically when we visited one of Kartel frequent spots to get his take on the whole situation, He was not on location but some men aligned to his crew had this to say regarding Jigsy's statement.

"Why dat bwoy a run up him likkle mouth like some gal, a talk bout ban, ban who ...nuh bwoy cyah ban di Teacha or Empire, as a matter of fact weh dem seh Orientation (a uniform party being promoted by members of the Bembe Squad at the said location) likkle more, arite nuh seh nuttin".

Jigsy was later asked about the event he said he will not be in attendance, so everything alright.
he new dance that is raging in the dancehall is the Hot Head which features some nifty head bops and dips. Hot head is also a term to denote a man who is quick to anger.

The Amnesia nightclub was the venue of an adrenaline-charged, alcohol-soaked Vybz Rum Party on Saturday night that ended with deejay Vybz Kartel, head of the Portmore Empire, being arrested for use of indecent language after cursing repeatedly during his performance.

He will appear in the Ocho Rios Resident Magistrates court on February 5.

Hpnotiq Qrew understands that the party, which attracted a large turnout from the area, went on until well after 7 a.m on Sunday when the superintendent of police for the area came to lock off the sound. Vybz Kartel, who was having a great time, begged the superintendent for more time and even told the patrons to big up the supe and then sang Empire Army before leaving the club. However, he did not get far and was later arrested for the use of indecent language. He was bailed a few hours later.

The party was sponsored by Vybz Rum. There were performances from other members of the Portmore Empire like Deva Brat,Doza Medicine, Blak Ryno, Sean Storm and of course, the CP Inc.

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) -- The Seminole Hard Rock casino is unveiling its new Las Vegas-style slot machines.

The casino plans to begin operating 1,000 Vegas-style slot machines on Monday. This comes weeks after an agreement between Gov. Charlie Crist and Seminole Tribe leaders went into effect allowing expanded gambling at the tribe's casinos.

The agreement has been challenged by state lawmakers who say they must approve any agreement Crist negotiates. The Florida Supreme Court is scheduled to hear oral arguments about whether the compact is valid on Wednesday.

State leaders have said they did not expect the Seminole Tribe to install and begin operating machines so quickly.

Since appearing on Vh1's season of The Surreal Life almost four years ago, Public Enemy rapper and hype-man Flavor Flav has become a media darling like it was 1989 all over again. After catch-phrases and antics led to countless proverbial water-cooler discussions, the now 48 year-old was given his own show, Flavor of Love - after the short-lived Strange Love, documentary of his and actress Brigitte Nielsen's love affair.

Based off of Flavor's pursuit of a partner, the Bachelor-like show featured various would-be celebrities such as Hoopz and New York (who would get her own show to boot). After a botched relationship with Hoopz in season one, an expanded, but equally fruitless relationship with Deelishis in season two, the antics are confirmed for a third season. The show will feature another 20 contestants, as well as a rumored season finale in Paris. The new season begins on February 11 at 9 p.m. est.

Ted Kennedy endorsing Obama

WASHINGTON -- Senator Edward M. Kennedy will endorse Barack Obama for president tomorrow, breaking his year-long neutrality to send a powerful signal of where the legendary Massachusetts Democrat sees the party going -- and who he thinks is best to lead it.

Kennedy confidantes told the Globe today that the Bay State's senior senator will appear with Obama and Kennedy's niece, Caroline Kennedy, at a morning rally at American University in Washington tomorrow to announce his support.

That will be a potentially significant boost for Obama as he heads into a series of critical primaries on Super Tuesday, Feb. 5.

Kennedy believes Obama can ``transcend race'' and bring unity to the country, a Kennedy associate told the Globe. Kennedy was also impressed by Obama's deep involvement last year in the bipartisan effort to craft legislation on immigration reform, a politically touchy subject the other presidential candidates avoided, the associate said.

The coveted endorsement is a huge blow to New York Senator Hillary Clinton, who is both a senatorial colleague and a friend of the Kennedy family. In a campaign where Clinton has trumpeted her experience over Obama's call for hope and change, the endorsement by one of the most experienced and respected Democrats in the Senate is a particularly dramatic coup for Obama.

"The America of Jack and Bobby Kennedy touched all of us. Through all of these decades, the one who kept that flame alive was Ted Kennedy,'' said Representative Bill Delahunt, A Quincy Democrat who is also backing Obama. ``So having him pass on the torch [to Obama] is of incredible significance. It's historic.''

Obama's landslide win in South Carolina yesterday gives Obama and Clinton two wins each in the primary campaign, and puts the two senators in a fierce battle for delegates on Feb. 5, when 22 states will hold Democratic primaries and caucuses.

While polls show Clinton ahead in some large states, including her home state of New York and delegate-rich California, the Kennedy endorsement gives Obama a stamp of approval among key constituencies in the Democratic party that could make Super Tuesday more competitive.

Kennedy plans to campaign actively for Obama, an aide said, and will focus particularly among Hispanics and labor union members, who are important voting blocks in several Feb. 5 states, including California, New York, New Jersey, Arizona and New Mexico.

The Massachusetts senator was key in helping his colleague, Senator John F. Kerry, score a comeback win in Iowa in 2004, sending Kerry on a path to the nomination. Kennedy campaigned on his own and released several senior members of his staff to work for Kerry.

Dear Dr. Flex, I am a 22-year-old woman who has just started seeing a new man. We were fondling and fooling around recently and he ejaculated while I was masturbating him. I noticed that his semen was liquid, but by the time I went to wash my hand it became very crazy glue-like and sticky. I dont know if it is because air caught it but I have never seen this happen before. I am now worried that he might have a disease which caused it to change. What do you think?
H.B., St. Catherine

Dear H.B.,
There is nothing to really worry about, as your boyfriends semen is definitely not related to any kind of a disease. All human semen has the ability to thicken to a certain extent. This is a holdover from our evolutionary primate ancestry, when a female might jump up after intercourse and run away. Nowadays, it is the male who is more likely to run away, but thats a different story.
The solidification of the semen made it stay put in her vagina, improving the chances of egg fertilization. What I am saying is not to make any monkey-like comparison with your new boyfriend, but everyones semen chemistry varies. His is just more glue-like than typical. Its normal and who knows, it might come in handy one day if you need to put a broken vase back together! Thats just a joke.

She used to beg him for sex

Dear Dr. Flex, My boyfriend and I have been together for quite some time now. When our relationship just started, I used to have to beg him for sex and he still would not give it to me. He later said he just liked to look at blue movies a lot that is why he wouldnt have sex with me. However, he slowly began to give in and now, whereas I dont have to beg him, he still doesnt show any interest in sex with me and the only way we have sex is if I take the initiative. Even then he stops after a little while. I was going to go down on him recently but I smelled a funny scent on his penis that came from under the foreskin. He usually has really good hygiene and this has never happened before. Does this mean hes cheating?
P.P., Kingston

Dear P.P.,
Your boyfriend is probably getting a bit careless on his hygiene. When people are together for a while they tend to stop making an effort to maintain it. On the other hand, maybe its because of his smell why he doesnt want to get down with you. Tell him honestly that you would rather if it was a bit of poor health or hygiene problem he was having other than him cheating so he should come clean.
Your relationship sounds a bit stale in the bedroom department and maybe you should suggest spicing it up, tell him to leave the blue movies alone as you are the real deal and that you are hot for him. If this does not do the trick then you have to move on with your life and find someone who will be more compatible.
Disgruntled Worker Accused of Deleting $2.5 Million of Files

By Grayson Kamm
First Coast News

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The target may be high-tech, but the emotion involved is as old as humanity. Spite, anger, and revenge. Police say that's what filled a woman's heart after she picked up the classified ads.

When Marie Cooley came across a job that looked like hers in the classifieds, she admits she was certain she was about to be fired.

So police say late Sunday night, she crept into the Mandarin office where she worked at Steven E. Hutchins Architects.

"She decided to go and mess up everything for everybody," said Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokesman Ken Jefferson.

Jefferson says Cooley accessed the company's server with her own account. And with a handful of mouse clicks and keystrokes, he says she deleted seven years' worth of architectural drawings.

Seven years of work -- gone in seconds.

The company put the value of the vaporized files at $2.5 million.

"She decided to be spiteful and go in and sabotage the records. And she did a very good job of that," Jefferson said.

According to police, Cooley confessed to the crime. It's a second degree felony that could lay the blueprints for a five-year prison sentence.

Folks at the architecture firm didn't want to talk on camera about the disastrous deletion.

The owner did tell First Coast News that he's paid good money to recover those files and he says he's now managed to get every deleted drawing back from its digital death.

"The lesson to be learned here is that you can't depend on having just one set of records or files and having your employees have access to them. You've got to have some kind of backup," Jefferson said.

And here's the most sobering part: the owner of the architecture firm says Marie Cooley was not going to be fired. He says the job listing was for his wife's business -- not his.

In the wake of all the events surrounding the detaining of popular entertainer Sheldon Lawrence aka Aidonia, his management team and Lawyers have released an official statement to add some clarity to the situation as there are several versions of the story in which it is alleged that the deejay's name was called as being an accomplice to the crime amongst other accusations.

Hpnotiq Qrew has obtained an official copy of the statement. (read statement below)

"Further to what transpired and subsequently has been published by Press Agencies both print and web based myself and Aidonia's family would like to publicly emphasize the innocence of Mr. Lawrence. At no point in time was he even involved in any violent activities, he is a very prominent entertainer who has the highest regard for the law.

It's unfortunate the way he has been treated since he was detained on January 5th after he in good faith took the initiative to visit the Grants Pen Police Station after receiving word that a shooting had occur in his community.
I am both confident and comfortable that his account of what transpired on Saturday is accurate and will exonerate his alleged involvement in the shooting incident.

Contrary to previous reports printed in yesterdays copy of the Star, Aidonia was actually the victim of an extortion plot which involved several men who has been targeting him for some time now and it was upon his refusal to comply with their demands that men came into the community in search of him.

It should also be noted that it was when these men became hostile that Mr. Lawrence and his group left the scene, shots were reportedly fired after and according to sources it was by the same individuals one of who is now in hospital.

On the matter of his car tyres being slashed and the shooting being viewed as a reprisal thats ludicrous, we can state boldly at no point in time was his vehicle or any of his personal property ever damaged, those were false reports.
He had been threatened several times prior to the incident and even went as far as to file formal reports at the Grants Pen Police Station, this can easily be verified by them.

Currently he is still being held as he has still not been formally charged of any offense, we are actively conducting our own investigations as we believe persons in the community may have witnessed what happened.

It is said some witnesses have come forward and made statements, but the matter is still being probed. At this point we are requesting a fair and detailed investigation from the Police as the shooting was in broad daylight. I am conducting my own investigations and soon the DJ's name should be cleared of all ill-repute.

The family would also like to thank the friends and fans of Aidonia for their support, they truly appreciate the loyalty in this a time of need."

CINCINNATI (TDB) -- Mankind seems to have been wired with a never-ending itch to explore and discover new ways to denigrate other people and cultures. Now we have the word "Canadian," which reportedly is becoming freighted with a slang, mean street definition. It is now being used to describe blacks and is a substitute, or coded, racial slur to replace the N-word. A report of this troubling linguistic shift comes via CincyBlurg, who said a friend had noticed that white people were calling her Canadian.

Just three days after Lil Wayne was arrested, upon being stopped at a Border Patrol Checkpoint in southwest Arizona, the rapper has been formally charged with felony drug and weapon charges in a Arizona courtroom today (Jan. 25).

According to the Associated Press, Lil Wayne (real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.) was charged with one count each of possession of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, misconduct involving weapons as well as one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

A preliminary hearing has been set for Feb. 12 with Lil Wayne free on bail, after a judge lifted a bail restriction allowing Wayne to leave the state.

He is very concerned about the charges, says Waynes attorney, James Tilson. He absolutely will be present at his next court date."

Expected to appear at his sold out show at the Landmark Theater in Richmond, VA tonight, Cortez Bryant (Lil Wayne's manager) told Virginia's Richmond Times-Dispatch that the rapper will "definitely" be performing.

After appearing in court and being charged with felony drug and weapons charges, Lil Wayne arrives three hours late to perform for a sold-out audience in Richmond, Virginia.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Waynes private plane had been delayed leaving Arizona and had to be re-routed on its way east.

At 11:50 pm, the rapper got on stage and apologized for his present attitude.

"I just flew in 10 minutes ago. I just had to deal with a whole lot of [expletive] today, but I guess you know that," he said. "Some [stuff] happened today that made me look at life in a different way. I'm [ticked] off to the highest point right now and trying to get it together for y'all, says Lil Wayne to 2/3 of the remaining crowd.

After brief and lukewarm performances of Im a D-Boy and Duffle Bag Boy the rapper unexpectedly walked off stage; again leaving fans agitated and causing more to leave the venue.

People have been wondering whats been going on with Dilated Peoples lately. After the group released 20/20 on Capitol Records, Dilated left the label and hasnt been heard from since. Evidence released The Weatherman LP last year on ABB and some speculation ensued that the group would be disbanding. The rumors couldnt be further from the truth and Evidence spoke to HipHopDX yesterday about Dilateds future.

We have been getting a lot if inquires from labels about what our next move is being that we are free agents as of last year, Ev said. We decided to go back to the lab and create the majority of the LP before we even return any phone calls.

We own our studio and between Alchemist, Babu and myself, (we) are completely capable of making the independent we have been dreaming to make for a few years now, he continues. Of course that doesnt mean that Sid Roams or DJ Premier havent already been invited to be a part of the 5th studio album from Dilated.

There is no title for the upcoming Dilated album as of yet but in the meanwhile Babu and Rakaa will be working on solo projects.

Rakaa-Iriscience is working on his solo LP, Crown Of Thorns slated for 08 release as well as Babu completing, Duck Season 3 coming out soon on Nature Sounds. Hopefully the new Dilated will follow all 3 of our solo albums and you will really know us on an individual basis through these (solo) LPs.

The group will also be performing at Paid Dues on March 22nd in San Bernardino CA and will be coming to a city near you. Check out their myspace pages for upcoming tour dates and information on their upcoming projects: myspace.com/dilatedpeoples, myspace.com/evidence, myspace.com/rakaa & myspace.com/djbabu.

With the recent steroids probe by the Albany Times Union, the news that Wyclef Jean has a few exclusive new partnerships has been overshadowed. The artist, humanitarian and ex-member of The Fugees announced that he is working with Motorola to promote and distribute exclusive material.

"I've got to find a new way to introduce my music," says Jean. "I might do 60 or 70 songs for an album, but I can only put 20 on the album. So the idea that I can promote music through a telephone, it's great. It allows me to get out new music."

After some initial talks with the company during January's Consumer Electronics Show, Jean made the deal official. While nearly every artist and most fans are familiar with ringtones and the amount of money they generate, Wyclef tells Stuart Dredge of Yahoo News that he is more interested in whole songs than the standard 30-second clip most cell phone carriers offer.

"You have to be a great musician," adds Jean. "But it's important to still learn the technology, because you don't want to get left behind. I want to test the sonics, so the song still sounds like you want it to sound. If you get that perfect mix for the cell phone, it's gonna sound hot on a real system."

In addition to his deal with Motorola, Wyclef has also struck a partnership with Matt Damon. Jean will score the music for the documentary Running the Sahara. The documentary was narrated and executive produced by Damon to raise awareness for his H20 Africa initiative. Running the Sahara focuses on three renowned marathon runners, who take on a 111 day expedition to raise awareness for Africa's water crisis.
