Clarendon College whips Cornwall in nail-biting match
Glenmuir send Hampton home
Glenmuir High School stomped their class on Hampton High not only to advance to the third round of this year's TVJ-sponsored School's Challenge Quiz, but also signalling themselves as a clear competitor for the title.
Led by captain Romario Thomas, Glenmuir High dominated the match from beginning to end and finished with 52 points compared to the measly score of nine their opponents got.
Glenmuir's performance knocked the wind out of their St Elizabeth-based opponents who seemingly gave up as early as the end of the first round which saw them trailing with Glenmuir leading 9-3.
In section two, Glenmuir continued to outplay Hampton High gaining 20 points to end their three minutes on 29.
Hampton on the other hand could only manage nine points, bringing their tally to 12.
Hampton High would only move two points further nevertheless, as they finished the match with 14 points.
Dubbed the "exciting ding-dong buzzer section", this segment of the match was nothing but a one way event in favour of Glenmuir High who buzzed in to 16 questions, of which only three were incorrect.
In fact, Glenmuir's performance was so clinical that when quiz master Devon Yetman asked "What anniversary will the Hampton High School be celebrating this year?" they first Hampton to the buzzer responding "150 years". Being the correct answer, this sparked laughter from everyone inside the studio except the players from Hampton who seemed not to find it a bit funny that they couldn't answer.
At the end of the match, the players from Glenmuir said it was a good match, while Hampton said they will be looking to better their performances next year.
Members of the Glenmuir team: Romario Thomas (captain), Darrien Bartley, Rojay Gordon, Mark Sterling.
Members of the Hampton team: Jervene Simpson (captain), Alexa Simpson, Daynia Farquharson, Yanique Henry.
Next match: José Marti vs Queen's
It's the kind of bizarre crime that leaves even police officers shaking their head in a c****ination of amusement and dismay. It started a week ago, when a man walked into a Melbourne, Australia car dealership and asked the salesman if he could take a Honda Accord sedan out for a test drive.
Sensing a sale, the dealer obliged, giving the man the keys and telling him to assess the vehicle. And he appears to have done just that. The would-be motorist's exam took him six days and 3,200 kilometres, before cops finally caught up with him in another part of the country.
Experts say the trip this alleged car thief took was equivalent to driving from London, England to Istanbul, Turkey.
The dealership became suspicious when its prospective customer didn't return after a few minutes. But where was he? It turns out the man stepped on the gas and drove from the big city into the Australian outback and beyond. He was only caught when he was allegedly involved in yet another scam - failing to pay for a fill-up, after the car's fuel tank hit empty.
Cops finally cornered him on Thursday in the city of Darwin after they set up a road block to stop him. (See the full route here.) Experts believe to make the distance he did in the time available he would have had to stay in the vehicle all day, every day from the moment his 'test drive' began.
Meanwhile, 3,000 kilometres away, salesman Ian McKenzie admitted he had no idea that the man who took the keys was going to bolt. "He seemed a legitimate gentleman," he told a local newspaper. "He stood at the desk right in front of a camera. He wasn't afraid of being photographed or videoed."
There's no word on why he allegedly committed the crime or where he was planning to go. The suspect has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of property.
He was in court on Thursday, driven there under police guard in what turned out to be a much shorter trip than the one cops say he'd just taken.
Police file criminal charges against four people and seize more than
200,000 music CDs and DVDs
TORONTO, March 6 /CNW/ - Following a year-long investigation by the
Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA), the RCMP has shut down
Audiomaxxx.com Ltd., a major alleged music counterfeiting operation in
Winnipeg, and filed criminal charges against four individuals.
Raj Singh Ramgotra, the principal behind Audiomaxxx, was among those
arrested during a raid yesterday at the organization, which for three years
has allegedly manufactured pirated compact discs and hard core pornographic
videos, and distributed them throughout Canada, the U.S., Europe and Jamaica.
More recently, Audiomaxxx's offerings have also included allegedly pirated
digital downloads.
In addition to the arrests, police seized an enormous volume of suspected
counterfeit goods. This includes more than 200,000 music CDs and DVDs,
numerous movie DVDs and hundreds of thousands of blank discs. Police also
seized five CD/DVD burning towers, each with 12 burners, which together are
capable of burning well in excess of 10,000 CDs and DVDs a day. The raid also
netted several computers and hard drives, two commercial CD printers, four
colour copiers and other office equipment.
In the past 10 years, the raid closest in scale to the action against
Audiomaxxx involved the seizure of about 10,000 counterfeit music CDs and DVDs
- one-twentieth the volume netted yesterday.
More than 10 police officers were involved in yesterday's raid.
"We sincerely thank the RCMP officers who have worked so hard to bring
Audiomaxxx to heel, and to the federal prosecutors who have worked closely
with them," said Graham Henderson, President of the Canadian Recording
Industry Association. "Today's arrests send out a clear message that
commercial piracy will no longer be tolerated in Canada."
Audiomaxxx is suspected of being one of Canada's leading music
counterfeiters. In Toronto alone, approximately 30 percent of the pirated CDs
seized allegedly originate from the operation. CRIA estimates that, at
minimum, Audiomaxxx has been shipping tens of thousands of allegedly pirated
CDs each month.
CRIA has received dozens of complaints concerning the operation from
artists, music associations and music labels around the world, including
numerous small, independent labels. In the past, when faced with demands by
rights holders to cease its activities, Audiomaxxx has consistently ignored
the demands or failed to fully comply.
The operation appears to be highly developed, with a significant
catalogue of allegedly pirated CDs and music downloads offered for sale via
the website www.audiomaxxx.com, including copies of tracks by famous artists
like Shania Twain, Lionel Richie, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige and Nelly Furtado.
"The RCMP has again demonstrated that it stands side by side with artists
and rights holders in the fight against intellectual property crime," said
Randy Lennox, President and CEO of Universal Music Canada Ltd. and Chairman of
CRIA. "CRIA has a longstanding partnership with the RCMP and other police
forces in fighting piracy, and today we have taken a big step together to stop
one of the most flagrant examples of its kind in Canada."
Audiomaxxx's alleged piracy affects not just famous artists, but also new
and independent artists - largely in the reggae, soca and hip-hop community -
who are struggling to build careers. For example, Vancouver's Utopia Records,
one of the many independent labels to voice concerns, has seen new artist
albums appear on the Audiomaxxx website on the day an album is released in
stores or even before the legitimate launch date.
"The harm done by music piracy is especially troubling when it undermines
a promising artist's burgeoning career," Henderson said. "We will continue to
work with police and lawmakers to give these artists, and the organizations
behind them, the opportunity to succeed."
CRIA began investigating Audiomaxxx as part of an ongoing program to
deter music counterfeiting and piracy. The operation came to CRIA's attention
because of the large volume of suspected counterfeit products openly offered
for sale on the Internet and the owner's failure to stop selling these
products after the issuance of cease-and-desist orders.
Since CRIA began dedicated anti-counterfeiting operations more than a
year ago, the association and police have seized more than 400,000 CDs and
issued 80 cease-and-desist orders against retailers of illicitly copied music.
The Impact of Piracy and Counterfeiting on Canadian Artists and Rights
Holders
Piracy and counterfeiting exact a steep toll on artists and rights
holders in Canada. This is reflected in significant music sales declines since
the advent of widespread unauthorized file-swapping in 1999 and the
proliferation of CD and music DVD counterfeiting in recent years. In that
time, retail sales of pre-recorded audio products (CDs, digital tracks, etc.)
declined by 47 percent, from $1.3 billion in 1999 to $703.7 million in 2006.
For the 11 months ended November 2007, net wholesale shipments of CDs,
music DVDs, and other "physical" recorded music formats dropped 16 percent to
37.9 million units from 45.1 million units in the year-earlier period, while
the related net wholesale value dropped 20 percent to $382.4 million from
$476.3 million.
A 2007 national POLLARA survey found that purchases of counterfeit goods
such as music CDs displace legitimate commerce. About half of those who bought
counterfeit music, movies or software would have purchased the genuine version
had they not purchased a copy (for music, the figure was 43 percent; movies,
45 percent; and software, 44 percent).

Local cops say they will be cracking down on 'orgy' parties, which are now becoming a popular addition to our party scene.
Although illegal, these parties are being staged regularly across the island, hosted at various places of residence and hotels.
Superintendent Fitz Bailey, head of the Organised Crime Police Division, told THE STAR that such parties will not be tolerated.
"Yes, it is illegal, I just want to know about it and we will go for them," a perturbed-sounding Bailey said.
He placed these parties in the same category as illegal massage parlours, noting that since January the police have been raiding a number of places and have arrested at least seven persons.
STAR investigations found that the cost of getting into the orgy parties cost between $2,000 and $4,000.
"There are parties where you can go alone and get some action, there are couples parties, swingers (bisexuals) and there are gay parties," Rohan, a promoter, explained.
At least two other promoters who have hosted these events said that they generate huge returns and, as such, larger ones will be staged.
Recently THE STAR attended a 'couples' party, where patrons young and old 'partied' the night away.
The event was slated to begin at 9:00 p.m. and when THE STAR arrived at the venue (a hotel in Portmore), the parking lot outside was buzzing with chatter and laughter from patrons making their way inside.
Skimpily clad
The men were casually attired, while some of the females appeared to have decided that less was best for the occasion.
Very short shorts and skimpy blouses gave a firm indication of what was to be expected later that night.
Upon paying the entrance fee, patrons were given the choice of wearing a mask, an offer few accepted.
Inside, it was noticed that there were no decorations in the room. Couches, sleeping mats and pillows were the prepared 'beds'. Slow jams played quietly from a little component set, tucked neatly in a corner of the room.
After the approximately 30 patrons spent an hour getting acquainted, a handful of curvy females entered and distributed condoms to everyone.
"You see those sexy ladies walking about, they will be giving out condoms ... We have an unlimited supply so take all you think you'll need. Safe sex is a must," the promoter urged.
Some persons instead used the condoms as toys and blew them up like balloons.
Soon after, the lights were dimmed and it was time for the main attraction.
"Don't be shy, we all know why we're here," the promoter said.
Action
For a few, this was just a signal to finish what they had already started as they were earlier seen cuddling and kissing.
In a matter of moments, the room, which was earlier filled with laughter and chatter, was now more quiet.
This made the perfect setting for the moaning and groaning that would ensue for the next four hours. During this time partners were switched around for sexual acts.
While leaving the venue, THE STAR spoke with Natalie, a 22-year-old female, who noticeably received a lot of attention during the session.
"Of course! These parties are always a lot of fun," she replied when asked if she had enjoyed herself.
More than eight men
She then admitted to having sex with more that eight men throughout the night.
"Memba seh is jus fun you know," she said while laughing. "It's just like having sex with one man, 'cause after tonight who knows if I will see them again, it's not like mi deh wid eight man is jus one night of fun."
Dr Sidney McGill, a sex therapist, told the THE STAR that individuals engage in activities such as an orgy party due to boredom and the need for sexual adventure.
"It's just a way of trying something different," Dr McGill said. He added that although sex is a private matter, some persons do find it arousing to partake in a public setting.
Nevertheless, he advised couples not to engage in the act as it might interfere with their relationship. "The disadvantages far outweigh the temporary sexual feelings ... It may create distraction in a relationship," Dr. McGill said.
Meanwhile, Carla Moore, behaviour change communication officer of the National HIV/STI Control Programme, which operates under the auspices of the Ministry of Health, said she was aware of such events. She said that they had not yet made any form of intervention geared specifically towards persons attending these events, but on a whole they targeted persons who engaged in risky sexual activities.
According to Moore, persons who attend these parties are being advised to protect themselves.
Efforts by THE STAR to speak with the hotel operator where the party was staged were unsuccessful, and even employees were tight-lipped. "A trouble you waa get me inna my yout?" one hotel employee asked, hinting that the staging of the event was illegal.Efforts to save the birthplace of Hip-Hop culture proved successful as the New York Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) rejected a proposed sale of 1520 Sedgwick Avenue to a developer Mark Karasick.
According to Sen. Charles Schumer, the HPD cited the fact that current rents could not be sustained if the sale of the property had gone through.
The decision is the latest chapter in the struggle for Sedgwick Avenue tenants to preserve their building.
Tenants enlisted Hip-Hop co-founder DJ Kool Herc last year to help save the property after word got out that the 100-unit apartment buildings owner planned to leave an affordable housing program known as Mitchell-Lama.
The Mitchell-Lama program presents owners incentives that include low-rate mortgages and tax breaks in exchange for charging tenants low to moderate rents over a certain period of time.
With the HPDs decision, tenants have the chance to negotiate directly with the owner, Schumer stated Monday (March 3).
The building has also been deemed eligible to be listed on national and state registers of historic sites.

Mrs Clinton insists she can go all the way to the White House |
US media say she has taken the Democratic primary polls in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island. The results of caucus meetings in Texas are not yet known.
Rival Democrat Barack Obama took the primary in the state of Vermont.
Meanwhile, John McCain has won the Republican nomination with projected wins in all the four states.
DEMOCRATIC DELEGATE RACE BARACK OBAMA: 1,477 Delegates won on 4 March: 91 States won: 24 HILLARY CLINTON: 1,391 Delegates won on 4 March: 115 States won: 16 Delegates needed to secure nomination: 2,025. Source: AP Delegates: Who's ahead
His closest rival, Mike Huckabee, has dropped out of the race and pledged to support Mr McCain's candidacy.
Mr McCain's victories take him to 1,224 delegates, well over the threshold of 1,191 needed to claim the nomination at the party's national convention in September.
Both Democratic candidates called Mr McCain to congratulate him on clinching the Republican candidacy.
'Coming back'
Speaking to jubilant crowds in Columbus, Ohio, Mrs Clinton said she was determined to stay in the race and looked forward to continuing the debate with Mr Obama "in the weeks ahead".
"For everyone here in Ohio and across America who has ever been counted out but refused to be knocked out, for everyone who has stumbled but stood right back up, and for everyone who works hard and never gives up, this one is for you," she said.
Mrs Clinton also pointed to Ohio's status as a state which had picked the winning presidential nominee in every contest in recent history.
"You know what they say - as Ohio goes, so goes the nation. Well, this nation's coming back and so is this campaign," she said.
NEXT DEMOCRATIC VOTES 8 March: Wyoming caucus, 12 pledged delegates 11 March: Mississippi primary, 33 pledged delegates 22 April: Pennsylvania primary, 158 pledged delegates 6 May: Indiana primary, 72 delegates; North Carolina primary, 115 pledged delegates In quotes: Reaction to votesNight of high dramaWho won it for Hillary
Addressing supporters in San Antonio, Texas, Mr Obama congratulated Mrs Clinton on running a "hard-fought race" but pointed out that he still held the advantage.
"No matter what happens tonight, we have nearly the same delegate lead as we did this morning, and we are on our way to winning this nomination," he said.
Mr Obama also used his speech to attack Mr McCain's policies on Iraq, warning that he would lead the country on the same course as Mr Bush had followed.
In total, according to the Associated Press, Mrs Clinton still trails Mr Obama with 1,391 delegates to his 1,477.
So while Tuesday's voting has not made much difference to the senators' relative standing in terms of delegates, the BBC's Vincent Dowd in Washington says that the psychological boost for the Clinton camp is huge.
'Convincing case'
Mr McCain's path to the Republican nomination represents a remarkable comeback after his campaign was all but written off following setbacks last summer.
Stand up with me, my friends, stand up and fight for America - for her strength, her ideals, and her future John McCain Full text: McCain speech
Speaking to supporters in Dallas, Texas, he said the most important part of the campaign now lay ahead, in which he must "make a respectful, determined and convincing case to the American people" to pick him over the Democratic candidate in November.
Mr McCain went on to outline the challenges facing the nation, including the war in Iraq and the fight against al-Qaeda and the Taleban.
He also pledged a campaign that avoided "false promises", and appealed for voters to "stand up and fight for America, for her strength, her ideals and her future".
He will go to the White House on Wednesday for lunch with George W Bush, when he is expected to receive the president's endorsement.
Hillary received a boost from the cross-over vote - Republicans voted for her because she is more beatable in the general election
For the Democrats, a total of 370 delegates to the nominating party convention in August were at stake in Tuesday's four races, to be divided proportionally.
So far, Mr Obama has gained 13 delegates in Vermont to Mrs Clinton's 7, including super delegates.
With most of the votes counted in Ohio, Mrs Clinton has gained 75 delegates to Mr Obama's 60. Mrs Clinton has won 20 delegates in Rhode Island and Mr Obama has gained 10.
In Texas, so far Mrs Clinton has gained 37 delegates to Mr Obama's 24, with 193 delegates to be allocated in total.
The results from the Texas caucuses - meetings at which voters gather to indicate their support for their chosen candidate - have not been finalised, so the final delegate count is not yet known.
Between the nationwide Super Tuesday contests on 5 February and the 4 March polls, Mr Obama won 11 contests in succession, giving him a lead over Mrs Clinton in the delegate count and apparently unstoppable momentum.
The economy was the most important issue for Democratic voters in all four states, especially Ohio, according to exit polls. The Iraq war was a close second in Vermont.
Those polls also suggested Mrs Clinton was doing well among white, blue-collar and older voters in Ohio, which may indicate she has halted Mr Obama's advance into those groups, her core base until recent contests.

Eight Bronx men connected to John Shop Records, a studio and reggae record label launched with drug money, were convicted by a federal jury on Monday (March 3) after being accused of selling as much as $1 million worth of weed every week.
Singer and producer Wyclef Jean was one of the artists who recorded at the studio, as was international reggae star Sizzla, according to New York's Daily News.
The gang, known as the John Shop Crew, reportedly flew 2,000 pounds of pot a week from California to New York where they sold the weed to lower-level drug dealers, during the years of 1997 to 2004.
Anthony Patterson, 37, was the crew's head honcho, who supervised the transports and sent money back to buy more drugs.
Patterson and four others were convicted on drug and gun charges. They're all looking at a maximum of life in prison.
Three others pleaded guilty and face 25 years in jail.

Sound system selector Boom Boom. - Contributed photos
His name may sound like the nickname of a toddler from a Disney cartoon. But despite being given his moniker by his grandmother at age five, Boom Boom, born Marlon Kirk Wizard has been making quite a name for himself in dancehall circles.
Boom Boom, in explaining how the nickname came about says, "Is like dem use to call mi grandmother fatty and true me a har grandson, dem jus' call me Boom Boom," completing the name, 'Fatty Boom Boom'.
It's a name that he has held on to, even though being a sound system selector was not always a part of his plans.
He and fellow Grants Pen artiste Kibaki used to imitate the dancehall deejays they heard on radio. But at the age of nine, Boom Boom officially made the transition from deejay to selector when his uncle unexpectedly asked him to manage the Invader sound system (a well known mobile disco in Grants Pen) he owned.
Boom Boom stepped up to the plate in confidence and entered into the realms of being a selector and his first time left him overwhelmed. When Boom Boom reached his teens, his uncle then gave him a job as a selector and he stayed with Invader sound for over a decade.
Making his name
Boom Boom soon began to make a name for himself in the Kingston 8 area and made his first major appearance at Mavado's first birthday party held on the gully side of Cassava Piece in 1998.
"A Mavado first birthday mek mi career tek off and from dat mi tour di whole Europe, mi career jus' rise," Boom Boom said. His outstanding performance led to him being offered a job by Y2K sound system, where he further honed his skills and got the chance to play abroad.
Boom Boom says his style of selecting is unique and he always goes for something different.
"Me a nuh di selector wey run down di top ten music wey di res' a selectors play, more time mi jus play some longtime music wey wi tek di place, like from inna di '90s and early 2000," he said. "My energy come from di crowd, based on how they react."
Boom Boom describes himself as, "a nice individual", but says, "when a time fi perform mi get cross, when it come on to playing a di job dat, yuh haffi get the job done."
There are some artistes, however, who Boom Boom says, have an added energy that he loves.
"Mi a play Mavado from 1993, mi a di first selector play Mavado, suh mi have a extra energy playing fi dem song, him an Kibaki. When mi a play like Mavado, Flex, Kibaki, mi get a big energy. Di Killer a di sealer, anytime mi sey Bounty Killa, a di sealer dat," he said.
Well, Boom Boom says his fans can catch him in live action at his regular spots like Bembe Thursdays, Chi Ching Tuesday in Golden Spring and Gal-A Tuesday in Linstead.
And as far as his next major show goes, "mi have British pre-link up, March 15 in Asylum and the big one on March 22 over La Roose, suh mi fans can si mi in action, full flight."
Now signed with Alliance Entertain-ment, Boom Boom's goal is to tour the world and bring Jamaican music to places it's never been. He currently plays alongside Harry Hype and Willy Damage who he says does the mixing for him.

Actress Serena Kozakura's conviction for willful destruction of property has been overturned by the Tokyo High Court because her large breasts revealed flaws in the testimony against her.
Reconstruction during an appeal hearing of the 38-year-old actress's alleged crime of breaking down the door in a man's apartment showed her breasts prevented her from climbing through a door as the man testified she had done, casting doubt on his reliability.
The high court overturned a district court ruling that found Kozakura guilty of willful destruction of property and sentenced her to 14 months in jail, though the sentence was suspended for three years.
Kozakura was delighted by the ruling.
"I lost work after being charged, but justice prevailed in the end," she said at a news conference she held in Tokyo after the conviction was overturned. "I was always worried about being a bit fat, but this time I was glad."
Kozakura was charged with having kicked down the door of a man's apartment after she had been kicked out following an argument with another woman there in November 2006. In July last year, the Tokyo District Court found her guilty of willful destruction of property, but she appealed against the conviction.
During the appeal hearing, the court heard testimony from the man and a witness who both said Kozakura had kicked a hole in the door, through which she wriggled through to re-enter the apartment.
The hole in the door was a rectangular shape 72 centimeters long by 22 centimeters wide. But Kozakura has a 101-centimeter bust and her breasts alone extend out 29 centimeters from her chest bone.
The appeal hearing conducted a reconstruction of the alleged crime and found that it would have been extremely difficult for Kozakura to squeeze through the hole in the door as witnesses testified she had. Further doubt was cast on the validity of the man's testimony because the clothes she had been wearing at the time of the incident were not damaged as they would have been had she gone through the hole, nor did her feet show any signs of marks that would have occurred had she kicked the door.
"There are considerable doubts about the man's testimony," Presiding Judge Kunio Harada said.
Kozakura got her break working as a presenter on a TV sales program before becoming a pin-up model and actress.
There have been a lot of laws made in the world and a lot of people who disobey them. But here's one that some are dying to break. The mayor of the French village of Sarpourenx has passed an edict forbidding the 260 residents of his small hamlet from passing on within city limits.
Mayor Gerard Lalanne complains his town has run out of room at the local cemetery, so he's passed an ordinance that states "all persons not having a plot in the cemetery and wishing to be buried in Sarpourenx are forbidden from dying in the parish."
What happens if you do? The law promises to severely punish the offenders, which would literally have to be a fate worse than death.
Lalanne claims he had no choice but to issue the ridiculous and completely unenforceable edict, after a court in a nearby town ruled his city wouldn't be able to acquire land to expand the cemetery. There's no word on what might happen to any unfortunate victim who expires in the wrong place at the wrong time without the necessary reservations.
The 70-year-old mayor is up for re-election this month and it's not clear if this legal roadblock will spell the death knell for his term in office. Fortunately, they don't have to worry about space when it comes to burying political careers.
The boys, ages eight and seven, who are from Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, some 40 miles from the airport, took a bus to the second city after school, police told THE STAR.
Montego Bay's top cop, Superintendent Steve McGregor, said the boys entered the airport through a dead end and somehow managed to get on the airstrip. "They said they heard the plane and followed the sound because they wanted to go abroad," Supt. McGregor told THE STAR. "I personally spoke to their parents and told them they were lucky we didn't arrest them because they can't leave two little boys alone like that."
The boys, one of whom told police he wanted to be a pilot, told officers that they asked a woman to put them on a bus to Montego Bay after leaving school. They exited the bus at the Montego Bay Transportation Centre and, following the sounds of the planes, walked to an area known as 'Dead End' at the rear of the airport. They then walked around a wall and climbed over a fence to get on the runway.
Police said shortly after 5 p.m. a pilot, turning to make a take-off, saw the boys and apparently radioed the tower who sent for them to be picked up, but not before the boys began running after and beckoning to at least two planes. They were blown to the ground twice by the two aircrafts, police said.
"The airport's authorities need to secure the place more," an officer who spoke to the boys said, "If kids can get on to the airport property then anyone can get on there and do anything and it could cause some serious problems."
When the police contacted their colleagues at the Savanna-la-Mar Police Station, the boys' mothers had already made missing person reports. The parents were taken to Montego Bay where they were questioned and released with their children.
Efforts to speak to a representative from the Airports Authority of Jamaica proved unsuccessful yesterday.
YardFlex understands that Rita is desperate for singer Lauryn Hill to portray her on screen in the first ever biopic of her late husband, reggae icon Bob Marley.
According to pr-inside.com, Marley is working as executive producer on the big screen adaptation of her 2004 autobiography No Woman No Cry: My Life With Bob Marley - and has her sights set on casting the former Fugees frontwoman, her daughter-in-law, in the chronicle of her tumultuous 15-year marriage to the musician.
She explains, "Lauryn would be ideal (to play me). She sees my life as her life." Bob Marley's son Rohan - with former lover Janet Hunt - is married to the Everything Is Everything hitmaker, who has been
largely absent from the music scene following her hit 1998 debut solo album The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill.
The as-yet-untitled project is slated to begin filming early next year (09).
