findImg.php?pic_size=200&table_name=news_img_tab&table_field=img_id&img_id=1202 There is a story circulating in the streets that Munga's mom was involved in a car accident in the vicinity of the intersection of Port Henderson and Hellshire Road. Which saw her car getting rammed in the side by another motorist.

According to the story she sustained a whiplash, while the two children allegedly traveling in the back escaped unhurt.

Earlier today when MZJAradio.com contacted the deejay and asked him about the incident, he laughed and said.

"Wha...dem a live inna lue a lie dem a tell, nothing like that mommy arite"

According to Munga's statement it must have been a case of mistaken identity, because last he check all was well with the family.

Munga who is slated to drop his debut album titled "Bad From Me Born" in the coming weeks, was in high spirits as he anticipates the release of the project.

At Madhouse success reigns

We've often heard the slang, "Ma mama Madhouse" bellowing from the heavy vocal cords of Baby Cham. It's his home label, but not many are aware of the rich vein of success the label has.

1992 saw the birth of Madhouse Records, a collaboration of excellence developed from fusing the business acumen of Janet Davidson and the creative genius of musical guru, Dave Kelly.

Home of dancehall anthems like "Action," "Slam" and "Joyride," Madhouse is a true reggae institution. The philosophy of the work at Madhouse reflects the chorus of Kelly's hit tune by Terror Fabulous and Nadine Sutherland, "Action." "Action, not a bag of mouth." Since its inception, without seeking publicity or hype, Madhouse has been quietly and relentlessly producing the biggest sounds in dancehall.

Madhouse has been responsible for the dissemination of true dancehall music worldwide by releasing hit tunes without compromising the art-form by watering down the music in hopes to "cross-over" into the mainstream. Madhouse Records does not follow trends, it sets them. In 1987 Janet was living in London, running Germaine Music along with producer Donovan Germaine. Meanwhile Dave's brother, Tony Kelly, was assistant engineer at Tuff Gong and Dave was being trained under his wing.

By 1989 Germaine , having recognized Dave's talent, offered him a position at the infamous Slipe Road Penthouse studio. Janet, also began managing Maxi Priest that year. The following year Tony and Dave, at young ages 21 and 18 respectively, accompanied Madhouse crew on the road as engineers.

Two years later Dave returned from the road full of ideas and itching to execute them. His career prospered in the studio. As a songwriter, musician, and engineer, Dave Kelly played a crucial role during Penthouse's glory days. By 1992 Dave had dancehall classics such as Buju Banton "Bogle" "Love Mi Browning" and "Batty Rider;" Beres Hammond/Cutty Ranks "Tempted to Touch," Tony Rebel's "Fresh Vegetable" and Marcia Griffith's "Fire Burning," as his production credits.

Janet Davidson, whose management experience included everyone from Peter Tosh to Placido Domingo, recognized the need for hyper-creative Kelly to expand his potential as a producer. Together they set up Madhouse Records. That formation of his own company with Janet Davidson enabled him to maintain control over the production of his material. In the beginning they worked from home but were soon able to re-invest the fruits of their labour back into the business; and it expanded. In 1996 she and Dave started a distribution house, Platinum Distribution at Mikey Bennett's Grafton Road recording complex and by 1997 Platinum Distribution moved into its own building.

The Madhouse Complex was then completed at Half Way Tree including offices as well as The Boxx, Dave's own recording studio. Madhouse is highly organized and efficient in a world where chaos reigns supreme. Whereas the traditional reggae label floods the market with dozens of releases, Madhouse only drops a few select records a year. Because each record stamped with the logo has been tailored-made to bring out the best in the artist; the Madhouse logo is a symbol with credibility. Assuring high quality tunes, Madhouse has established "die-hard" loyalty with both deejays and consumers alike.

Releases on the flagship Madhouse record label and sub-labels like Xtra Large (XL) which cater to more hardcore tastes include: Beenie Man's "Slam" and "Old Dog," Lady Saw's "Sycamore Tree" and "Eh Hem," Frisco Kid's "Rubbers" and "Little and Cute," Bounty Killer's "Eagle and the Hawk" and "Can't Believe My Eyes," Spragga Benz "Dolly House" and "We Nuh Like," Baby Cham's "Man and Man" and "Gallong Yah Gal," Wayne Wonder's "Joyride" and "Bashment Girl," Daddy Screw/Donovan Steele's "Kerry," as well as Buju Banton's "Big It Up" and "Only Man."

Custom-built Madhouse Rhythms include Pepperseed, Rae Rae, Action, Arab, Joyride, Haunted, Showtime, Stink, Dugu Dugu, Bruk-Out, Back Yard, Bug, Clone, Bounce, and Return.

An integral part of Madhouse music is the Alias project. Described by Kelly, "Alias is an artists' collective of the new millennium." With Alias, no holds are barred. Anything goes except one thing; as the artists involved with the Alias project enter the session, they must leave their egos outside the studio. The artists (all established) assume aliases, allowing them to shed any preconceived notions or stereotypes as they test unchartered waters . Producers deejay, deejays play instruments, and singers produce and write tunes during these spontaneous sessions .

Some of the other projects that Dave Kelly has worked on include Shaggy's "Hotshot," Rayvon's "My Bad," the title theme for Scooby Doo, and Foxy Brown's "Broken Silence."

MAVADO IN JAIL FOR SHOOTING

March 27, 2008

Dancehall artiste David 'Mavado' Brooks was arrested and charged yesterday on two counts of shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm, stemming from an incident last year. Brooks was arrested after he turned himself over to the Kingston and St Andrew Major Investigation Task Force at their downtown offices yesterday. Head of the Major Investigation Task Force, Assistant Commissioner of Police Les Green, said the artiste was formally charged after he was questioned by detectives. "He voluntarily attended our offices and he was charged today (yesterday)," he said. The police said the artiste was charged in relation to an incident on Mannings Hill Road on July 27, when two persons were shot. ACP Green, however, refused to go into details about the shooting or if it was linked to an ongoing feud in the Cassava Piece area which has had residents of the community cowering in fear. He added that the investigations were continuing into the incident. Mavado has since been taken into custody and will appear in the Gun Court on Friday. This is not the first time that the artiste has been arrested and charged. In January last year he was arrested and charged with possession of ganja after he was caught with the contraband while the police were on a raid in Cassava Piece. And in 2006 the deejay was charged with two counts of wounding, assaulting police and resisting arrest after an altercation at the Constant Spring Police Station in which he was injured.

Margaritaville Montego Bay seemed unusually crowded last Thursday, but this was to be expected as not only was it ladies night, but it was also a holiday weekend and one of dancehall's most popular deejay's was to make an appearance.

Before 11 o'clock patrons started to open the dance floor as DJ Sunshine played a slew of hits that had people dancing up a storm.

At 2:30 a.m., it was announced that Busy Signal would be taking the stage in about another hour, but patrons were not bothered by this revelation as DJ Nicco was at the turntables playing music that had them dancing like people who were truly celebrating the coming of the long and well-deserved holiday.

Intense heat

By this time, the club became packed, generating an intense heat. Dancing partners could hardly be differentiated in the thick crowd.

When Busy Signal took the stage, the ladies who had clearly anticipated seeing him, huddled toward the front and sang along with him as he went through a number of his hits. Screaming fans tugged at his pants, grabbed at his legs and touched him at every possible chance.

Lighters, waving hands and whistles were in order when Busy performed hits such as Step Out Nah go a jail and Private Number.

But the climax of the night came when patrons begged Busy to come on stage with him.

The DJ who seemed to be unable to disappoint his female fans pulled at least five ladies on stage with him, each determined to wine for him.

Back it up

As he belted out the lyrics to his hit Pon De Edge, the girls who had taken the stage each proceeded to back it up on Busy, showing him what they were made of.

With all the ladies who were vying for a chance to display their skills, Busy, who had earlier stated that he was just recovering from illness admitted in a moment of honesty that he would not be like some men and stated, "Me cyaan manage so much of unnu."

Although many patrons left after Busy performed, there were still many party fans who were only getting started and continued to do their thing on the dance floor till the wee hours of the morning.

Examining poverty, gun, crime and community, in the multicultural Canadian context, the award winning film, "A Winter Tale," is rooted in reality.

As the Frances-Anne Solomon written and directed film sets out to delve beneath the surface of a rough Toronto inner city 'skin', it succeeds in highlighting the inner lives of Black men; often portrayed in media as, "monsters."

In Montreal for a special screening tonight as part of the weekend festival, Kasserian Ingera, "A Winter Tale" tells the story of a community responding to a bullet that virtually shattering the spirit of their region.

Following the sounds of deadly shots meant for a drug dealer, a
ten-year-old lays dead on a downtown Parkdale, Toronto street.

Broken and filled with grief and suspicion the community's hellish pangs are addressed as social worker, Gene Wright, galvanizes six Black men to make a pact; forming a support group in the hopes of getting things 'right.'

Peter Williams, the Vancouver basedpeter williams.jpg star of stage and screen, who hails from Jamaica, brings Gene Wright to life in the movie; and says, "The film has a universal appeal...the beauty is people in it are treated as individuals and not stereotyped." He told YardFlex that while not expected to influence immediate changes in Canada's ivy coloured walls of establishment, "It [the film] is giving voice to people who are actually living the experiences in these multicultural places we have formed in Canada."

Driven to explore the inner lives of Black men after media reporting of a huge rise on 'black on Black' violence in Toronto, Frances Anne Solomon employed the amazing technique of improvisational workshops in creating the film. "All the actors lived together in close quarters on three occasions...we were presented with different scenarios to act out in improv style...the brains behind the whole thing - Francis Anne Solomon would videotape; and go away and write the scene," Williams told YardFlex.

This under-used, but ingenious technique brought out some real life experiences, "It helped the film get a sense of realism," Williams expounded.

With a star-studded cast that includes Michael Miller and Leonie Forbes, the film has been described as "Pure Fireworks," and will be continuing its global tour - soon to touch down in Jamaica.

As part of Quebec Canada's, "Action Week Against Racism," the festival, Kasserian Ingera [which means and how are the children]; runs at Edifice de la Grande bibliotheque, 475 de Maisonneuve Est on March 28, 29 and 30. Admission is free.

what was seen as an attempt to recover a loss of earnings from the poorly organized Real McKoy tour last year, the Easter weekend played host to another offering from dancehall entertainer Mavado alongside Bounty Killer. The promotional material carried three dates beginning with Birmingham on 21st March, Bradford (although patrons were pre-warned that the venue had yet to be confirmed) and London on 22nd and 23rd March respectively. In keeping with the risk factor now attached to Mavado, a decision was taken by the Police to cancel the Birmingham leg and the Bradford date was moved to Huddersfield. In almost identical terms as the show last year, the London leg went ahead with a heavy Police presence. Units were placed both inside and outside the venue, yet despite the alarmingly visible firearms a fight between patrons ensued, though it was curtailed by the Police within minutes.

In spite of notification to YardFlex in February that Baby Cham and Spice were added to the line-up, our London sources confirmed that the pair did not make the trip. A call placed to the publicist of Spice prior to the event confirmed that she had no booking for the UK. Support acts materialized in the form of Future Trouble, Einstein and Oh Me Oh My.

Jamelody's "Love Crazy" a hit

Love Crazy," a rhythmic ballad by promising vocalist, Jamelody, is making waves on reggae radio charts with a record breaking sixth place entry as a debut single.

The latest Media Guide Report charts it at number five; and it is steadily rising up the reggae specialty charts.

It is no wonder, since Jamelody's 15 track album "Be Prepared," that features the new hit, "Love Crazy" is filled with his rare voice that is soulful and gritty; he is clearly the new roots messenger. Set for release April 29, the album is sizzling.

Jamelody gives a boost to the foundation already set in reggaes call for truth, rights, justice and love; and "Be Prepared" highlights this. Including hardcore tracks produced by legendary mixing board master, Bobby 'Digital' Dixon as well as a 'new roots' 'rock, pop, R&B' style, produced by Carl James, the album brings out an amazing talent, no doubt headed for the very top.

Musical journey of a 'Cool Ruler'

Jamaican Reggae musician, Gregory Isaacs came forth in the 1970s with lovers rock hits including "My Only Lover,""Sinner Man," and "Mr. Cop." In the same period, he released the album, "Mr. Isaacs," that featured songs such as, "Love is Overdue" and "Loving Pauper."

He signed with Virgin Records and moved on to Charisma Records in the late 1970s and material from this period gave him a wider international audience. Songs such as "Soon Forward," "If I Don't Have You" and "Let's Dance" are often re-released on compilation albums from this period.

In 1982, Gregory Isaacs signed an international release contract with Island Records, a c****ination, which resulted in the release of the albums, "Night Nurse" - probably his best known album among the many international music fans who had taken to reggae by then; and "Out Deh," in 1983.

The Island Records contract ended soon after and a number of personal issues forced Isaacs from the spotlight. In 1988 he returned triumphantly with "Rumours," that was popular with both young reggae fans and those who had followed his music since those classic songs of the 1970s. Since then his music has been released by his own African Museum Label.

Over the years, Gregory Isaacs has worked hard to keep his legendary status and reputation in the reggae business second to none. Artists Only! released "Gregory Isaacs - Live at Maritime Hall" in conjunction with 2B1 label the fall of 1998 to a great response. This all new studio album "Turn Down The Lights," produced by the legendary Lloyd "King Jammys", really brings out the essence of this veteran singer, who sounds as strong as ever with the best up-to-date musical tracks.

He is currently touring in the US, bringing his forceful sounds to thousands of fans.

Former host of BET's 106 & Park, Free, will co-host the new Gospel Music Channel original series, Bobby Jones Next Generation, alongside the man who helped revolutionize gospel music as a creator, producer, director and performer, Dr. Bobby Jones.

The series will begin shooting in Atlanta next week and both performance heavyweights will share hosting duties of the hour-long show where merging artists will be showcased.

Gospel Music Channel, Atlanta-based Kingdom Come Productions and Dr. Jones will produce the new series together. The programme will be broadcast Sunday nights at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT with the series premiere set for Sunday, May 4.

Speaking to reporters, Dr. Jones said, "Free is the ideal choice to share the hosting role on our new GMC series. She is a seasoned television personality, brings a young demographic appeal, knows the new artist world well and is an emerging artist herself. She and I will compliment each other well and viewers will enjoy our pairing"

Before her career in television as host on 106 & Park, BET's number one rated show, Free began showing her talent as a budding rap artist in the early 1990's working with likes of the Wyclef Jean Refugee Camp, Lenny Kravitz, and Pras, and had record deals with Elektra and Motown records and also worked with Def Jam. Most recently, Free held the position of DJ on KKBT 100.3, The Beat music station in Los Angeles.

It will be a busy stretch for Free who, between co-hosting duties on Bobby Jones Next Generation, will release her first album later this spring. The album will be produced by award-winning producers Missy Elliott, Rockwilder, Timbaland, Scott Storch, Pharrell Williams, Chucky Thompson, Antwan "Amadeus" Thompson, Kanye West, Clark Kent, Bryan Michael Cox, Just Blaze, Karma Productions, Bink!, Soul Diggaz and Salaam Remi. The album will be a tribute to all her fans.

Dancehall has seen it fair share of clashes, from the days of Papa San and Lt. Stichie, to Ninja and Shabba, Bounty and Beenie, and even more recently, Vybz Kartel and Mavado. Most if not all of these clashes have been lyrical, or have at least started there, but word on the street is that a war of a new dimension is brewing between female dancehall recording artiste, D'Angel and Macka Diamond, aka The Money Goddess.

Sources close to the situation revealed that hot words have been flying behind the scenes for a while now, and it got even worse after Macka Diamond won best dressed female artiste at the Teenage Choice Awards. The word is that D'Angel was furious, and was determined to get her day in the spotlight as best dressed female artiste. This she achieved at the recently held Irie FM awards, where she took home the coveted, or is it the vain award of the night?

Be that what it may, it doesn't stop there, because word is that like D'Angel, Macka was furious at the announcement of D'Angel being the winner, and has since lashed out with a stinging single, entitled, 'Best Dressed,' which states that 'she has her best dressed house, best dressed car and her best dressed man wha a come in from far, wid har best dressed fren dem, a she an dem a par, a who dat ovah deyso want a best dressed war? '

With words like that, it is clear that the Money Goddess has a few things to get off her chest. Neither Macka or DAngel could not be reached for comment, but an associate of D'Angel has revealed that like Macka, she also has something for her fans to hear. Only time will tell, but the difference of this clash alone makes it interesting, and with words like, "how D'Angel fi hot like Macka, bout she a hot artiste an dey yah every weekend, she know how much Passport mi fren dun aready, a wha do Angel, bout best dressed?" coming from Macka Diamond's supporters, while DAngel supporters are stuck on, "hotness, is a gift, yuh affi born wid it," it seems that this one may be brewing to become the catfight of the year, while at the same time, the first new slang for the year seems to be best dressed .Best Dressed house, best dressed car, best dressed man, woman and child.

Shareena Swinscoe, age 16, made her first appearance on the cover of a major publication when she posed for Britain's "PRIDE" magazine.

Winner of Pulse's Caribbean Model Search (CMS) UK, she is being touted as Britain's next top model. Photo shoots were conducted by one of Europe's top photographers, Ayo Banton.

He expressed great optimism while speaking about Shareena's potential. "She's going to be huge! She has a great look and takes direction really well. She's a little shy and still learning how to move, but in a couple of years she will be amazing."

Reminiscing on the experience, Shareena told reporters, "The shoot was so long, it lasted from 10 am until 6 pm., non-stop. I got on really well with all the crew and I think the pictures are great. I definitely want to reach for the stars in modeling. I really enjoyed the professional environment and all the styling and costumes we tried. This has given me so much experience."

Beenie Man back in Tax Court

The sago continues with Beenie Man and the tax court. He is scheduled to be in court today to answer charges of tax evasion.

The artiste was arrested on a warrant in October last year after he failed to appear before the Tax Court. Tax authorities allege that the entertainer owes the state $47 million in income tax. When the entertainer appeared in court on December 10th, his lawyers said efforts would be made to hold talks with the authorities regarding his multi-million dollar tax debt. Tax representatives said Mr. Davis had made no further attempts to settle.

Anthony Cruz's unwavering and strong lover's rock vocals mixed with his excellent stage presence and edgy style, has earned him a firm place in reggae music.

"Fight With All Your Might" is his soon to be released album that highlights his immense talent through the delivery of diverse musical styles. Tracks to watch include: "Hold Me," "Leaders of the World," "Take It Off" and his first single "Love Is Falling."

While his destiny in music was just about 'ordained' through inspirational family ties with the great late Garnett Silk, who was his uncle, Cruz worked unrelentingly, dedicating himself to honing his craft until his songs became impressive enough to catch the attention of veteran producer, Willie Lindo, in 1993. Taking Cruz under his wing, Lindo - in Miami, Florida at the time - was behind the release of his debut album, "Where There Is Love," featuring global hits, "Just Call My Name" and "When You Get Lonely."

Following his return to Jamaica in 1999, Cruz became in demand for major stage shows like: Sting, Rebel Salute and Stone Love's Annual Anniversary Dance. More number one hits followed, as he joined Fifth Element Records, releasing tracks like: "You Got it Bad," "The Place Too *lo**y" featuring Buju Banton and "Halfway Tree."

Now affiliated with the Penthouse Label, Cruz is anticipating the release of "Fight With All Your Might," expected in stores on April 15th, 2008

Perhaps someone needs to tell Munga that East Fest is not the right forum to make a declaration that you just bought a gun. And his constant references to Deva Bratt also seemed to strike a negative chord with the audience who registered their disapproval with loud boos. Hope that the Gangsta Ras learns his lesson and pays attention to the needs of his audience in the future. He saved himself with The Prayer but the damage had already been done. Yes yes!

I Wayne's phenomenal rise

March 28, 2008
Started By Dj Moet0 Comments
Roots and culture artists have long been a constant in Jamaica, from the influence of legends like Bob Marley to conscious roots dancehall singers like Garnet Silk. However, in the summer of 2004 a new and powerfully distinct voice emerged on the reggae music scene. With a fresh timbre, substantive lyrics and passionate performance, this artist has almost singlehandedly led the new wave of roots and culture reggae music that has swept the island of Jamaica.

I Wayne, born Cliffroy Taylor in Portmore, Jamaica, officially hit the international scene with the hit, "Cant Satisfy Her." The, 24 year old, singer has been the first cultural reggae artist to be added to Hot 97 in New York, a station notorious for its hip hop influence.

Since then the track caught on in several markets and entered the
Billboard Hip Hop/R&B Singles charts. The fiery tone of the track describes the desperate reality of prostitution, poverty, and sexually transmitted diseases in Jamaica. His follow-up single, "Living in Love," went atop the New York and Florida reggae charts for more than seven weeks.

Although it seems like he recently burst onto the scene, this young artist has been refining his craft since age seven. Coming from a musical family, I Wayne first made his venture into performance as a student at Greater Portmore High School, joining a local group Vibes Machine. The group, consisting of singers and DJs who used to perform
for after work parties at popular clubs like Cactus and Asylum.

One night, the artist was forced to perform alone due to the fact that the rest of his bandmates were running extremely late. The response was tremendous, and I Wayne was motivated to perfect his solo act. He later moved on to chant with local sound systems like Diamond Cruise and The Legend, and has contributed significantly to the annual event in his hometown, Garveymeade, held on December 24th for the past 10 years.

With an admitted affinity for love songs that highlight his ethnicity, I Wayne has a unique ability to compose and commit to memory all material without ever writing down a word for the recording session.

In November of 2004, I Wayne signed a record deal with VP Records to release his debut album "Lava Ground." The album included the two hit singles "Can't Satisfy Her" and "Living in Love," as well as the title track "Lava Ground." He has since released another album, "Book Of Life," in November 2007.

I Wayne's rapid rise to the top of the reggae world is unprecedented, and has sparked a wave of enthusiasm within the industry for the next generation of roots and culture singers and songwriters.

Three killed in Clarendon

March 28, 2008
Started By linko2 Comments

Three persons were killed in two separate shootings in less than 12 hours on Thursday in Clarendon.

The first incident happened about 2:30 a.m. at Savannah Cross, Clarendon when a couple was killed in the presence of two minors.

Dead is 25-year-old Indria Coleman of Hunts Pen, Clarendon and 50-year-old Carl Ellington of Smithville, Clarendon.

Police reports are that about 2:30 am on Thursday, gunmen kicked open the door to the dwelling in which the couple was staying along with two minors ages 2 and eleven. The gunmen robbed the couple of an undetermined sum of money before shooting the two. Ellington ran out of the house in a bid to escape but was chased and killed outside by his attackers.

Coleman's aunt told THE STAR that, her niece had just moved to the area on Sunday evening and Ellington had only arrived in Jamaica on Sunday. She added "I don't know why someone would want to kill my niece because she is a decent and law abiding citizen of Jamaica."

Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge of Crime for Clarendon, Cleon Marsh told THE STAR that the police has detained a man who is believed to be the main suspect, they are now in pursuit of two others who might have useful information that might bring the case to an early closure.

The two children were said to be Coleman's children.

A few hours later, Joseph Brown of Harris Street, May Pen was murdered by a gunman in the Doctor Bell Drive area of May Pen.

According to police reports, Brown was riding in the Doctor Bell area of May Pen when he was approached by a gunman about 12:30 pm. Brown ran but was chased by his attacker. He was shot several times and succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

The STAR learnt that Brown had just been released from prison. Both scenes were processed by the Area 3 Scene of Crime Unit and the May Pen CIB is investigating both cases

Rapper T.I. was expected to plead guilty Thursday to federal weapons charges and will face prison time, according to two people familiar with his case.

The 27-year-old singer, whose real name is Clifford Harris, was expected to be sentenced to 1,500 hours of community service talking to youth groups around the country, followed by about 12 months in prison, according to two people familiar with the negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity because the plea deal had not been finalized yet Thursday morning.

Harris is one of Atlantic Records' most successful artists. His sixth album, "T.I. vs. T.I.P.," was released July 3, debuting at No. 1. He appeared in the 2007 film "American Gangster," which starred Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.

His prison time could be increased or reduced, depending on his fulfillment of the terms of the deal and good behavior, the two people familiar with the negotiations said. His talks to youth groups are supposed to be about the pitfalls of guns, gangs and drugs.

The U.S. Attorney in Atlanta announced a change-of-plea hearing was scheduled Thursday afternoon at the federal courthouse. Prosecution officials were expected to speak to the media after the hearing.

U.S. District Judge Charles Pannell Jr. must approve the deal.

Harris was arrested Oct. 13, just blocks away and hours before he was to headline the BET Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta.

He was charged with possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers, as well as possession of firearms by a convicted felon. He faced a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each count.

Harris was allegedly trying to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers. He initially pleaded not guilty, and has been under house arrest since he was released on $3 million bond Oct. 26.

Harris, co-CEO of Grand Hustle Records, grew up in Atlanta. His first taste of success came with his 2003 album, "Trap Muzik." In 2004, warrants were issued for his arrest on probation violations for a drug conviction, and he was sentenced to three years behind bars.

bounty_tour.jpgBounty Killer has come upon one main obstacle in his tour and thats the very determined gay community! Killer's concerts have been felled by the fagalas.

From the ever-ready Peter Tatchell's celebratory press release:

Bounty Killer, has had two of his three UK concerts canceled in the last week, following a campaign by the gay human rights group OutRage! His concerts in Bradford and Birmingham were axed, losing him thousands of pounds in performance fees. In Germany, Bounty Killers performance in Essen was canceled and other German concert dates are now in doubt.

The Outrage! campaign extends all over Europe, including France and Belgium. Bounty Killer previously boasted that the gays would be no match for him. He obviously underestimated the lavender set's determination.

One of the British clubs, however, claim the Outrage! protest had nothing to do with the concerts' cancellations, but because Killer missed his flight from Jamaica. Theyre now trying to reschedule the
contentious event. Yeah right!

14 Dutty Fridaze - Popular dance goes islandwide

Scene from Dutty Fridaze. held at Fletchers Land square on Saturday morning. - nathaniel stewart

The weekly Dutty Fridaze party is set to expand its boundaries even further, as promoter Wayne Bartley aka '2 Gran' says, in addition to having gone global, he wants to stage the event in the 14 parishes in Jamaica.

"To how it gone global an everybody a talk bout it an di DVD gone abroad, wi start fi tek it on a broader basis, because wi keep it all over the Caribbean, England, Canada and the U.S. But what wi plan to do now is to take it to the 14 parishes in Jamaica. Last month, we started off in Portland, and our next Dutty Fridaze on the road will be in St. Thomas," 2 Gran said.

The St. Thomas leg of Dutty Fridaze is scheduled to be held on May 23, Labour Day and then in Brown's Town, St. Ann on June 6.

According to 2 Gran, persons everywhere are already looking forward to the event being staged in their neck of the woods.

"When wi guh to these places and tell them that we want to bring Dutty Fridaze in their area, everybody is excited and willing to corporate, because dem use to it from cable and DVDs and even on our website. There is also a new website, www.duttyfridazereggae.com, where anybody who want information on Dutty Fridaze can log on there," 2 Gran said.

REMAINING OPTIMISTIC

In taking a closer look home at the event's weekly Fletcher's Land location, 2 Gran says they remain optimistic that his weekly street dance will not be severely harmed by the new 2 a.m. stipulation by the police.

According to 2 Gran, "the lock off time is the same thing, 2 a.m., because is something that goes for all the dances, even though some a di dance dem wi get wey. But tru we have our ting every Friday, we haffi adhere to the rules."

The change in cut off time, 2 Gran says, has left some patrons finding it difficult to adjust.

"First time wi kick off like 3, 4 a.m. an wi guh all till 7-8 a.m. But this whole new time code for the dances an the night life thing started about three weeks ago, an when it did just start off, things moved really slow," 2 Gran said.

He continued, "There were people who were still coming in all three, four o' clock an dem a complain an a sey wah, Dutty Fridaze lock off already. Because when wi talk fi di first, nobody nah too tek wi serious, but after couple weeks, most people start fi bruk inna di vibes."

The promoter said what they had to do was to "start some early vibes thing, some games, Karaoke an dem likkle ting deh fi start di party off early."

However, 2 Gran says he is in no more argument with the law as he sees where the early cut off time could be beneficial to him.

"I think the time thing will work out for me in the long run, because people who nuh normally come a Dutty Fridaze an want to come, like students from UTech and these places, always say the time thing too late fi dem, and then yuh have some people a sey, bwoy mi nah come a Dutty Fridaze, cause a really Dutty Saturday dat," he said.

So 2 Gran says he is urging patrons to continue to support the event, "jus come out early and cooperate with the law. A di regular hardcore juggling and di regular vibes, a jus sey wi haffi do wi ting early. An mi waan big up the Central Police General Office and the patrol teams, because dem police deh work wid di Friday ting, dem nuh try fight 'gainst it."
A growing trend of underage boys being paid by older women to perform oral sex has been occurring in sections of the Corporate Area and St. Catherine.

Checks by THE STAR revealed that boys under 16 years old in at least three inner-city communities, in east Kingston and St. Catherine, are being solicited by older women seeking oral services.

Police attached to these areas say they have heard of this but nevertheless there are no reported cases. They say however that if reported, these women can be charged with indecent assault and could face up to five years in prison if convicted.

Detective Corporal Jeffery Wilkins of the Area Four police said, "...There's very little we can do because we are not receiving any formal reports..We have heard about it, but it remains just a rumour because we have no cases."

Similarly, Deputy Superintendent Herfa Beckford, head of the The Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse ( CISOCA), also said that while she has heard of this, they do not have reported cases.

However DSP Beckford said that she is aware of an incident which occurred some time ago when an underage boy was paid to perform oral sex with an older woman but subsequent investigations revealed that she was psychologically ill.

Youngsters happy

According to CISOCA, these exchanges are mostly likely not being reported because the youngsters are happy with the deals. The police, they say, would have no reports of it unless a parent, guardian or some concerned individual made a report.

Despite the lack of formal reports, police officers who perform guard duties at the Family Court in Kingston, told THE STAR that a number of parents have been turning up with these cases.

"Jus come dung ya more time and jus watch and listen...Most a di yute dem who we hear seh a do it a usually some bad pickney who dem parents cyaa control dem," one officer who wished to remain anonymous said before adding "Di likkle yute dem look like any big man, a mussi dat di woman dem like fi si."

Upon visiting these communities, the allegations were easily confirmed. Residents of Tredegar Park in St. Catherine joked about the situation and claimed they were aware of at least three youngsters who were involved in the acts.

"De yute dem a prostitute out demself, yu nuh see it. Might as well dem go a New Kingston go long out dem tongue," Sherine, a resident said while others laughed.

THE STAR did not get a chance to speak with any of the persons who have been involved in these practices.

Jamaica on Wednesday squandered a glorious opportunity to chalk up another victory against arch-rivals Trinidad and Tobago when they surrendered a two goal lead to end the game 2-2 in front of a fairly disappointed crowd at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.

reggaeboyz_T_T_squad.jpg

The Reggae Boyz looked vastly superior to a largely ineffective though young and inexperienced T n T aggregation. The Boyz with a couple of senior professionals from England, including Luton Shelton, Demar Phillips, Oneil 'Bigga' Thompson, Omar Daley and the recalled Deon Burton waltzed to a comfortable two goal half time advantage thanks to strikes from captain and Wigan FC player Marlon King in the 34th minute and Tyrone 'Granny' Marshall - who plays for Toronto football club in the U.S Major League Soccer - in minute 41.

reggaeboyz_al_miller.jpg

In the second half Jamaica's technical director Rene Simoes introduced the local players and the Jamaicans suddenly slumped from being the superior team to a team struggling to defend their lead, in front of a Stadium of approximately 22,000 spectators.

reggaeboyz_2.jpg

The Soca Warriors with renewed vitality in the second half, eventually pulled one back from substitute Osei Telesford and then sealed the equalizer through captain Aurtis Whitely with only two minutes added on in extra time.

Coach Simoes took the blame for the tie saying he was giving some of the local based players a chance to get some exposure and experience.

The Reggae Boyz will look to avenge this tie when they have a date with the T n T players on Soca soil in June.

This is the second drawn match for The newly appointed Technical Director Simoes after the Boyz were held to a one all draw against Costa Rica.

Bounty Killer and Mavado

March 28, 2008
Started By linko0 Comments
In what was seen as an attempt to recover a loss of earnings from the poorly organized Real McKoy tour last year, the Easter weekend played host to another offering from dancehall entertainer Mavado alongside Bounty Killer.

Mavado hoping for bail

March 28, 2008

Following Mavado's arrest yesterday, his manager, Julian Jones-Griffith, told THE STAR in a interview that he remains hopeful that the artiste will receive bail after his court appearance which is scheduled for today. "He will be going to court tomorrow (today) and we are hoping that we will get bail, that's what we are hoping for," Jones-Griffith said. According to Mavado's manager, although there currently are no major shows lined up for the artiste, "He was suppose to be going to Trinidad this weekend, but by tomorrow we will know everything that's going on." And as it relates to the gun charges that Mavado, whose real name is David Brooks, was held on, Jones-Griffith said he had "no further comments, because it's an ongoing investigation. But in time, everything will be proven because these are all allegations". On Wednesday, Mavado was arrested after he turned himself over to the Kingston and St Andrew Major Investigation Task Force at their downtown offices. According to the police, Mavado was held and charged in relation to an incident on Mannings Hill Road on July 27 when two persons were shot. He is scheduled to appear in the Gun Court today.

Designer gets 30 days for weed

A designer who said he needed weed to keep calm after losing his apartment to his girlfriend was sentenced to 30 days' imprisonment at hard labour on Wednesday.

Raymond Charles Perry, 34, of Middlesex, England, was sentenced to 30 days after his attorney pleaded with the judge for leniency.

It is alleged that Perry, a British citizen, went to the Norman Manley International Airport where he checked in to board a flight to London. He was searched and two rectangular packages of ganja weighing 750 kilograms were found stuck to his crotch area.

He was arrested and charged with possession, dealing in and taking steps to export ganja. He pleaded guilty to all charges when the matter was mentioned in the Corporate area Resident Magistrate's Court.

The investigating officer also told the court that the accused had been convicted of a similar offence in 2006.

His attorney confirmed this, but said his client was going through a difficult time. "He and his partner had a falling out and she got the apartment. He needed to recuperate and was taking the substance to help him," he told the court before asking for a short custodial sentence.

Resident Magistrate Glen Brown then sentenced Perry to pay $24,000 or serve three months for possession of ganja. He was admonished and discharged for dealing in ganja and fined $12,000 or three months for taking steps to export ganja.

In addition, he was sentenced to 30 days' imprisonment at hard labour.

Triple tryst

I have a friend and we are very close. He and his girlfriend live together. I spend a lot of time with them and over the years our relationship has grown very close. We go out together. We party together. I spend more time there than at my own place. For a few months now, we have even grown closer. One night while we were together we watched a few movies and after we became very fond of each other and my friends agreed that we all should have an orgy. Well, it worked and from then we have been having it, all three of us on a regular basis. My friend likes the idea and so does his female partner. We are all having a good time and really enjoy doing it.

My friend and I talk about it and he said I should not worry about a thing because he likes it and his girlfriend wants it to remain like that.

Pastor, are we doing something wrong? It feels good and I go home sometimes looking forward to it, all three of us.

R.W., Trelawny, Jamaica

Dear R. W.,

This man you consider your friend will never marry this woman. And you are not a good friend either. You shouldn't ask me if you are doing anything wrong. You know what is right from what is wrong.

What you have written about happened because you would not stay in your house. You spent more times at your friend's house because you had your eyes on his woman long ago. As a man, you should protect your friend's girlfriend, not to engage her in "orgy". What you all looked at were "blue movies" and decided to put into practice what you all saw.

Aren't you guys afraid of sexual transmitted diseases? Neither of you should be proud of what you are doing.

I'm in love with Joe Grind

I have lived and worked in the Cayman Islands for the past four years. During these years, I got married to an American. My husband lives and works in the States. My problem is that I only see my husband during Christmas. I have tried so many times to convince him, even force him to come and spend other times with me, but he never did. In February of last year, I met someone and we started talking. I could tell him everything. He was always there for me. We got together in March 2007, but this person has his babymother back home in Jamaica.

Pastor, the way his babymother deals with him is terrible. It hurts me to know that a man who takes care of her and the children so well and yet she handles him like a dog. This man is everything I was looking for in a man. I wish that he and his babymother would leave so that I could have him for myself.

Please help me because I don't know what to do.

M.K, Cayman Islands

Dear M.K.,

First of all I think your husband is crazy. Why does he stay away from you for such a long time? One visit in 12 months is insufficient. But let me hasten to say that that should not give you licence to be with another man, but the temptation to do so is greater than if you were seeing him regularly.

The young man with whom you got involved has his babymother in Jamaica. So both of you are away from your spouses and the desire for companionship grew so you got sexually involved. He may or may not be talking the truth about his girlfriend. You believe that she is not treating him right and you want to take him away from her. You haven't said whether this guy wants to leave his child's mother, but it seems as if you are ready to give up on your husband.

Have you asked your husband whether he is willing to file for you so that both of you can live together? He is not interested in living in Cayman, but what about you joining him? You see, something has to happen soon. Are you prepared to tell him that if he will not make up his mind, you are going to leave him? I think you should. Perhaps he will understand what you are trying to say. I am not suggesting that you tell him that you have another man. He will use it against you. I am suggesting that you tell him that you are tired of not having him around and ask him whether he wants you to move on.

Both the girl's mother and the boyfriend, Lucio Gomez-Gonzalez, are in jail without bond. Lucio is charged with statutory rape and the mother, Rosa Benavides-Arellano, 42, is charged with being a party to statutory rape.

According to a police report, Lucio had sex with and impregnated the 14-year-old while both were staying at her mother's home.

A case worker with the Division of Family and Children Services reportedly met with the girl's mother after someone from the teen's school found out she was two months pregnant. The mom reportedly told officials that Lucio had been living in her home for about a month.
Georgia woman has been placed under arrest for allowing a 20-year-old man to have consensual sex with her 14-year-old daughter.

According to the police report, the mother was aware that Lucio was having sex with her daughter. And we have learned that she told police the 20 year old was, "living with them because he wanted to provide for the 14-year-old and the unborn baby."

While neither the mother, nor the 14 year old daughter wanted Lucio to be arrested, police nonetheless moved in last week and took him into custody. "The age of consent in Georgia is 16", said Lawrenceville Police Capt. Greg Vaughn. "For someone older than 16 to have sex with someone younger than 16 is illegal ... At 14 years old, it doesn't matter if her parents give consent. That's the law," Vaughn said.

Lucio faces a felony statutory rape charge and would be forced to register as a sex offender if convicted.

Mavado ban behind shooting?

March 28, 2008
Started By linko0 Comments

A refusal to play Mavado's songs is said to be the reason behind the shooting incident for which the artiste has been charged THE STAR understands.

The self proclaimed "Gully God" is facing two counts of shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm arising from the incident which occurred on July 27 last year.

Police reports are that on the day in question, Mavado and his entourage were allegedly at a bar near the intersection of Whitehall Avenue and Mannings Hill Road, St. Andrew where his songs were being played.

It was also said that a certain individual then ordered that no songs done by Mavado should be played.

Further reports are that an ensuing altercation saw Mavado and his entourage leaving the bar before returning and proceeding to fire shots, injuring two persons.

Brooks was formally arrested and charged after turning himself in to the Kingston and St. Andrew Major Investigation Task Force on Wednesday and subsequently taken into custody at the Kingston Police Station.

Head of the Major Investigations Task Force, Assistant Commissioner Les Green could not be reached for a comment yesterday, however when initially contacted on Wednesday evening he noted that investigations were continuing into the incident.

Mavado is known for songs such as I'm on the rock and Gully Side.

Gays Cancel Alliance Show

findImg.php?pic_size=200&table_name=news_img_tab&table_field=img_id&img_id=1317 Just days ago we reported that the warlord Bounty Killer and members of the Alliance stormed through Great Britain with some stellar performances that left the British fans clamouring for more.

However it seems that the tides have changed or they have ran out of luck on the German leg of the six week tour. Information reaching the offices of us from our European correspondent has just informed us that the show slated for Cologne, Germany last night was cancelled after the event came under heavy protest by gay activist groups in the european state.

The report stated that the city's gay lobby groups managed to shut the event down, even though the Warlord who is known for his anti-gay stance had allegedly agreed not to do any anti-gay songs. Though they may have garnered some success in their plight, the understanding is that they're still are not satisfied and wanrts a written apology stating that he (Bounty) likes gays.

Tonight's show set for Munich is presently hanging in the balance as speculations are looming that the group may decide to extend their protest to the country third largest city in an attempt to pressure the dancehall artistes to be more compassionate with people of diverse cultural behaviours.

Dancehall which has always been labeled as murder music in some geographical sectors of the world is now under immense pressure from these groups, and an all our war is eminent as the gays are now trying to ban some dancehall artiste such as Bounty Killer, T.O.K., Capeleton just to name a few material from being sold on popular internet media outlets such as Amazon and similar sites.

Will the Alliance tour be allowed to continue at this time we are not sure but we will keep you posted as the story breaks, this has been another exclusive by the good folks at mzja

Beenie Gets Visitation Rights

findImg.php?pic_size=200&table_name=news_img_tab&table_field=img_id&img_id=1315 D'Angel and her camp is strongly denying that Beenie Man was ever restricted from seeing his son Marco-Dean despite a recent Supreme court ruling.

A ruling at the Supreme Court on Tuesday relaxed the conditions, making it more feasible for 'The Doctor' to visit his son.

D'Angel's publicist, in seeking to clear up the misconception, said in an interview yesterday that, "as it relates to the restraining order it is against his wife, and not Marco-Dean. There was never a restraining order against him (Beenie Man) not seeing Marco-Dean." He continued, "there was a restraining order of him (Beenie Man) coming in close proximity to Michelle (D'Angel). She has nothing against him seeing Marco-Dean, as a matter of fact she would love for him to spend time with Marco-Dean on the understanding that he is a father with a son, not a husband with a son, but there are conditions."

The publicist further added, "We just want to put on record that she (D'Angel) has never said that the child would not have the opportunity to see his father, but she just wants to ensure that the environment is one that is conducive to the child's welfare and protection."

The feedback coming out of D'Angel's camp is that she and Beenie will be working with the child's best interest in mind.

"They (Beenie Man and D'Angel) will work out the conditions and time period. But the child does have a nanny and the nanny should always be in the presence of the child, and this was a request of Michelle that was granted by the court," the publicist said.

When contacted, Beenie Man's publicist, Ray Alexander said, "technically D'Angel was correct in saying that there was no ban on Beenie seeing his son, but the condition wasn't suitable for the artiste's busy schedule. Because every time Beenie wanted to see his son, his attorney would have to talk to D'Angel's attorney to set up a meeting place for him to see his child, because a restraining order prevented Beenie from going to the house."

Now, Alexander says the court ruling on Tuesday was in favour on Beenie Man as "he is allowed to go to house on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to pick up his son unsupervised. He, however, has the choice of bringing along the nanny. When he takes the child, he is not allowed to take the child to any place where there is drinking and smoking."

This, Alexander says, was a major concern of D'Angel who insisted that Beenie Man's bachelor pad was not a conducive environment for a child to be around.

"She (D'Angel) was saying that there was a certain lifestyle up there and she was concerned about her son being there," Alexander said.

However, when asked by the judge about that, "Beenie said that was not where he was going to take his son when spending time with him as he gave the address of another apartment that he had," Alexander said.

Donovan Bennett, known to the masses as Don Corleone, has been putting his indelible signature on the top sounds emanating from Jamaica to the world, and is best known for crafting chart-topping tunes for dancehall icons Sean Paul and Elephant Man, but that's just the beginning of his realm. He's produced Billboard hits for pop princess Rihanna, and talented R&B mainstay Keyshia Cole, who regularly treks to Kingston, Jamaica to work with Don in his Vendetta Studios.

In fact, Don reveals the track featured on Girlicious was first composed for Cole. "I made it for Keyshia's last album but it didn't make it, but Ron Fair at Geffen Records loved the track and wanted to save it for something good. So I got the call and went to L.A. (Los Angeles) last year and we did the show."

DonCorleonGeffen The featured song on tonight's episode of Girlicious is titled "Leave You Alone," with music by Don Corleone and lyrics by Pressure, who just saw the release of his second album, Love & Affection, on the Don Corleon Records label.

The Corleone track was used as the centerpiece in a vocal expression challenge for the girls, who are competing to become the next p*u**yycat Dolls, a female burlesque singing act that eventually landed a record deal, which made them and their lead singer Nicole Scherzinger household names.

See the clip as Nicole joins Don Corleone in the Geffen Records studio to teach the girls, and the millions who tune in tonight, how music is properly done. (see clip below)

Jamaican artistes, Gangsta Ras Munga Honorebel and Dancehalls latest gangster lyricist Demarco will journey into the belly of New Yorks gritty garrison on April 11th to make their Brooklyn debut at C-PAC. Gangstas Do Dem Own Thing will feature the two Jamaican chart-toppers alongside Brooklyns reigning Dancehall garrison gaad Fats.

Munga.jpgCaptivating the industry with a Hip Hop infused Dancehall swagger, Mungas Bad From Mi Born, and Earthquake were two of 2007s street anthems that propelled him to the forefront. Following up with tunes like Take My Place, and Wine Pon It, Munga continues to rank at the top of the new generation of Dancehall stars, making him one of the most sought after performance headliners. Demarco, whos Fallen Soldiers, hit the top of the Dancehall charts in early 2008, has recently been announced as one of the nominees in the Caribbean Urban Music Awards Best Newcomer category.  Both artists will be joining Brooklyn-bred artist Fats, also know as Fatta, whose Real Bad Man has become a staple on the radio and in the streets of Brooklyn.

Following on the heels of the success of the Brooklyn debut of  Mavado, Serani, and Bugle, dubbed On the Rock, promoter Johnny Wonder of 21st Productions is predicting that Gangstas Do Dem Own Thing will be another sell-out show.

Most promoters have their shows in Queens or Manhattan and forget about Brooklyn, states Wonder. They forget that its Brooklyn that really sets the trend around here in terms of Dancehall, Hip Hop, and all forms of urban music. If you want the cutting edge in music in New York, especially Dancehall, come to the hood. Come to Brooklyn.

Gangstas Do Dem Own Thing featuring Munga Honorebel, Demarco, and Fats will be held on Friday, April 11th at C-PAC in Brooklyn. Beenie is in no way surprised by a recent Bill Johnson poll that declared that he is Jamaica's favourite living entertainer.

The poll, conducted between January 12-13 by the Johnson Survey Research Limited revealed that out of a sample size of 1008 persons, 28 per cent chose Beenie as their favourite living artiste. Beres Hammond with 11 per cent came in second.

"It's always good to be important," Beenie said in an interview with THE STAR recently, "when you are the most popular artiste it mean sey everybody know yuh. And to all the work that I've been doing, it mean sey dem si wah a gwaan an mi appreciate all mi fans an well-wishers who support mi."

Beenie also confessed, "when people always a ask mi a wey mi get di push or momentum from, wah dem nuh realise, an mi always tell dem, a from di fans. Right yah now mi feel like mi jus buss yesterday."

ENERGY, ZEAL

Zeal, energy and interaction with fans, are just some of the attributes that Beenie brings to the stage whenever he performs. However, if you ask him what has changed about him over the years, he will quickly answers, "there's no difference."

He further explains, "fi bout three years, it did kinda stay a way, cause me an Killa did have di same amount a song and things were different dat time. But from bout 99' come ova, mi feel like mi buss all ova again and 2007, 2008 a some a mi best years dat. Also, most controversial year wid di story wid me an mi wife, di tax ting, but there is no publicity that is bad publicity unless you are a dead man."

Despite being at the centre of a number of controversies, the thrills and spills of his marriage and separation with now estranged wife D'Angel, the Marco-Dean paternity and alleged millions owed in tax to the government, 'The Doctor' has still managed to maintain his popularity.

BLEND OF GOOD AND BAD

He said that with the blend of good and bad that has been happening in his personal life and career, the fact that he is still favourite shows; "...how much di people dem love mi, regardless what people write about yuh.

This is really remarkable: a woman had all her abdominal organs removed, for the extirpation of a tumor. Brooke Zepp, 63, from South Florida, was found, in May 2007, to have leiomyosarcoma, a rare cancer type, located deep inside her abdomen. The tumor had wrapped itself around woman's aorta and other arteries delivering *lo** to vital organs like the stomach, intestines and spleen.

Doctors refused to operate saying that the abdominal space was too tight for the tumor to be removed without harming vital organs. Confronted with the perspective of waiting her death in 6 months,
the woman appealed to a team at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center, who premiered the outstanding surgery.

"I wanted to prove to people, even though many doctors told me not to do this, that I thought it would be better to take a chance on living than on dying," said Zepp.

In March 2008, the team removed six abdominal organs of Brooke to get the space required for cutting off the tumor.
"In order to remove the tumor, we took a very unusual approach. We removed all the organs along with the *lo** vessels and the tumor," said Dr Andreas Tzakis, director of The Transplant Institute.

The tumor had proven resistant to chemotherapy and radiation.

"The organs removed during the 15-hour surgery were the stomach, pancreas, liver, spleen, small intestine and about two-thirds of the large intestine. Because of their delicate nature, the kidneys weren't taken out during the procedure. We had to move very quickly because the organs were removed from her body and she had no organs in the belly," said Tzakis.

"Once the tumor had been removed, Zepp's organs - which had been kept chilled - were placed back in her abdominal cavity and artificial *lo** vessels were put in and connected. In total, the organs were outside her body for about 90 minutes," he added.

The team had experience with multiple organ transplants.

"This is unique and brand-new, but pieces of the surgery were done before. We know how to remove organs - we know how to put them in. We've done surgery to remove liver tumors, taking the liver out of the body, removing the tumor and putting the liver back in. The Miami doctors have also performed similar operations removing tumors from intestines. We've done pieces, we just hadn't done the entire thing at one time," said Tzakis.

The state of the patient is good.

"I want the rest of the world to know that inoperable cancers can be operated on. Different cancer centers have different training and their own vision, and they don't think in the terms that a transplant surgeon would," she said.

Robin Williams and Marsha Garces Williams, married in April 1989, are splitting up. Garces Williams filed a divorce petition in San Francisco on March 21, seeking to end her marriage to Williams on the grounds of irreconcilable differences.

She is in her early 50s; he is 56. They married soon after Williams' divorce from Valerie Velardi, to whom he had been married for 10 years. Williams' and Garces' daughter, Zelda, was born in July of that year; their son, Cody, in 1991.

Williams and Garces met while she worked as a nanny for Zachary, born in 1983 to Williams and Velardi. Garces subsequently worked as personal assistant to the comedian. Four years after their marriage, in a New York Times interview, he said, "I don't need to go out to a club now and get a little bit of intimacy from 100 or 200 people. Now I can get that talking to friends around the table."

Over the years, as their family grew, Williams and Garces worked together, both professionally and toward values they shared. In 1991, they founded Blue Wolf Productions; Garces produced "Mrs. Doubtfire," "Patch Adams," "Jakob the Liar" and "Robin Williams Live on Broadway."

Together they also created the Windfall Foundation, a non-profit that focuses on education, health, the environment and the arts. Garces has particularly been involved with Doctors Without Borders and Seacology; Williams with the Christopher Reeve Foundation (he was Reeve's classmate at Juilliard) and Comic Relief. Their house, in Sea Cliff, was the site of a variety of big-ticket fundraising dinners and cocktail parties, but also Halloween central for neighborhood trick-or-treaters.

Williams has done two publicly acknowledged stints in rehab: for drugs in the '80s and, after staying sober for 20 years, for alcohol in 2006. The couple was out and about at various events upon his return, and in the past year, he has delighted Bay Area audiences by dropping in unannounced for surprise appearances at comedy events and clubs.

Garces was not at Williams' side when he was honored by the San Francisco International Film Festival last spring, and amid reports of many sightings in Marin County, where he was said to have been living, rumors of problems have been rife for months.

Garces' lawyer, Robert Kaufman of Beverly Hills, would provide no information.

Vybz Kartel, has decided to end his two year marriage to his wife Stacy Elliott who resides in the United States. In papers filed with the Jamaican Supreme Court, Kartel, whose real name is Adidjah Palmer, alleged that his 31-year-old bride had given birth to a son who was fathered by another man. He said he had never lived with his wife since the January 9, 2006 private wedding, pictures of which are posted on the Internet. Kartel also provided for the court a copy of the child's birth certificate. Kartel said also that his wife never visited him in Jamaica after the US revoked his visa to that country some time after the wedding. The two met at a stage show in Brooklyn, New York and had been dating four years prior to tying the knot in a private ceremony before a marriage officer at the Registrar General Department branch on Trevennion Park Road in Cross Roads, Kingston. Whatever the outcome may be we wish both Stacy and Kartel all the best as they go their separate ways. This has been another exclusive brought to you by the good folks at mzjaradio.com

Iwayne_bookoflife.jpgRoots and culture artists have long been a constant in Jamaica, from the influence of legends like Bob Marley to conscious roots dancehall singers like Garnet Silk.
