findImg.php?pic_size=200&table_name=news_img_tab&table_field=img_id&img_id=1402876radio.com has learnt that the self proclaimed King of the Dancehall Beenie Man has moved his career into full throttle mode and can no longer be classified as just an artiste.

According to our sources he's taking his craft to the big screen and delving more into the field of acting. Even though this aspect of entertainment is nothing new to the Doctor, who has made several cameos in previous films, the difference this time around is the new project will see more of his involvement throughout.

Beenie Man who was recently voted Jamaica's most popular entertainer and Deejay of the year has just completed a new script written in collaboration with Richard Gumbs of 3-Gilms for the new flick titled "KINGSTON".

Base on excerpts from the script the movie is about a struggling ghetto youth that swindles some people of their earnings and this set the stage for the drama that unfolds. The movie will feature an all Jamaican cast with the likes of the Don Gorgon Ninjaman, actors extraordinaire Glen 'Titus' Campbell and Oliver Samuels the flick will be shot on location in the City of Angels, aka Los Angeles.

The major thrust being this latest project are Richard Gumbs and his brother Trenten both of 3-G Films.

Time for women to take a stand

Rasta-Girl-Posters.jpg'Teck buddy gal', 'skettel, 'bitch', 'hoes'... well the list of derogatory adjectives could go on and on that have been used by hip hop and dancehall artistes alike to refer to women in the dirt that's being called songs.

One would think that any self-respecting woman listening to these songs would feel disgust and great indignation coming to the fore as the words penetrate and then do the only acceptable thing turn off the radio or get rend of the offending item.

But here is the shocker, there are actually women out there who find nothing wrong with the garbage being spewed out by these artistes, instead they embrace both artistes and the nonsense that are being passed off as songs.

To make matters even worse, they war with each other over the artistes that have shown their disrespect for them repeatedly in the songs they choose to do.

Am I missing the whole picture here? Is there no value placed on us women anymore? Has material things and basking in the limelight allow us as women to lose all sense of moral values, decency and some kind of pride that would see us demanding even a semblance of respect for ourselves?

This truth was brought home to me in no uncertain terms, as I objected to a particular song by Vybz Kartel. I thought the lyrics was crude and showed no respect to women. My greatest opponent then was another female, one who claimed the song "a teck life" and "him not talking about her"! There goes the theory of unity being strength!

If you are wondering why women are not getting the kind of respect they deserve the answer is simple they have stopped demanding it!

Instead of booing good cultural artistes or buying out the argument between Beenie Man and, Bounty and D'Angel, pick a good cause to let your loud voices be heard boo for your self-respect

TOKYO, Japan (AP) -- A 14-year-old Japanese girl killed herself by mixing laundry detergent with cleanser, releasing fumes that also sickened 90 people in her apartment house, police said Thursday as they grappled with a spate of similar suicides. Emergency responders enter an apartment building in Konan, Japan, where a girl commited suicide. None of the sickened neighbors in Konan, southern Japan, were severely ill, although about 10 were hospitalized, authorities said. The deadly hydrogen sulfide gas escaped from the girl's bathroom window and entered neighboring apartments. The girl's suicide Wednesday night was part of an expanding string of similar deaths that experts say have been encouraged by Internet suicide sites since last summer.

A missed penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo ensured FC Barcelona and Manchester United FC remain deadlocked at 0-0 after an enthralling first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final.

Extraordinary scenes
The English side's last visit to the Camp Nou had ended in extraordinary scenes as they won the 1999 UEFA Champions League with two added-time goals, and they almost picked up where they left off on their first return since, only for Ronaldo to fire a third-minute penalty wide after Gabriel Milito had handled. It was as close as they came on a night when Paul Scholes made his 100th appearance in the competition, although the visitors will be thankful to escape with a draw after being forced on the back foot for much of the match.

Penalty miss
The tie sprang to life from kick-off, providing drama as early as the second minute when Ronaldo headed on Scholes' corner only for Milito's raised arm to intervene. The Portuguese international took the spot-kick himself, but fired wide to the relief of the majority in the 98,000 sell-out crowd. Well off the pace in the Primera División, Barça's season rests on this tie and they quickly found their feet, a lightning run from Lionel Messi putting the away team on the back foot. It was breathless stuff as the home side probed a makeshift United back line, shorn of the unwell Nemanja Vidi.

Attacking intent
Sir Alex Ferguson had named an attacking side with Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tévez all selected, but they could not break out of their half. Starved of possession, Ronaldo reacted angrily as Rio Ferdinand pumped a clearance high over his head and soon after Rooney was forced to clear off the toes of Samuel Eto'o deep inside his own area. Against the run of play, though, United nearly broke through. Andrés Iniesta's misplaced pass let in Ronaldo, who was eased off the ball by Rafael Márquez as he closed in on goal.

Ronaldo chance
Despite Barcelona's possession, United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar was rarely troubled, a low save from the returning Deco's free-kick on 38 minutes his main contribution of note as half-time approached. At the other end Ronaldo's darting run was halted by Márquez's clumsy challenge, with the resulting booking ruling him out of the second leg.

Classic encounters
The talk in the build-up had been of classic encounters between the sides and the second half began at a pace worthy of the fixture. On 48 minutes Messi's shot was blocked, then Michael Carrick's tackle kept out Eto'o. Moments later Eto'o drove into the side-netting before Carrick did likewise at the other end. United breathed a sigh of relief when Bojan Krki replaced the tiring Messi two minutes past the hour.

Evenly poised
The home team could still not find a way through, with Van der Sar forced to push away Thierry Henry's fierce drive after the Barcelona substitute had cut inside from the left, and United looked increasingly dangerous on the break as the half progressed. Neither side, however, could break the deadlock, leaving the tie evenly poised for the return at Old Trafford next Tuesday.

Child molester gets 12 years

Started By Crazypickney7 Comments

A 38-year-old who sexually molested his daughter when she was 12 years old has been sentenced to 17 years' imprisonment.

The man was convicted in the Home Circuit Court on Thursday of incest, indecent assault and assault.

The Crown represented by Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Caroline Hay heard evidence that on a day unknown in October 2006, the man indecently assaulted his daughter by rolling on top of her in bed and fondling her.

The man had a peculiar habit of telling the girl to pretend that she was bathing him.

On a day in October 2006 he forced the girl to have sexual intercourse with him. Evidence was also given that on another day in October 2006, the girl was on her way to a party when her father told her to return home. She came with some friends and he began to beat her mercilessly.

The girl managed to escape and made a report to relatives. The girl was living in a house with her father and grandmother when the offences were committed.

The matter was reported to the police and the father arrested and charged.

He said in his defence that his daughter was telling lies on him because he had beaten her.

The jury found him guilty of the charges and Justice Kay Beckford sentenced him to 15 years imprisonment for incest, two years for indecent assault and one year for assault. The sentences for incest and indecent assault are to run consecutively so he will serve 17 years.

Vybz Kartel - Di War Teacha

findImg.php?pic_size=200&table_name=news_img_tab&table_field=img_id&img_id=1322 Vybz Kartel was born at Kingston's Victoria Jubilee Hospital. Originally from Waterhouse, Kingston, he was raised in the Waterford community of Portmore, St. Catherine. Adidjah attended Calabar High School in Kingston but was expelled as a teenager. Determined to continue his education, he completed his studies at a tutorial technical school. The young Adidjah was exposed to a wide variety of music from a tender age by two uncles who happened to be aspiring musicians themselves. Every weekend he would be treated to new musical offerings on his uncle's old component set, ranging from Sam Cooke to country and western ballads to Ninja Man, who became one of his musical foes. At the age of 10 his favourites included artists as diverse as Papa San, Charlie Chaplin, Will Smith and KRS-1, all of whose lyrics he would write down and study word-for-word, performing them later for the entertainment of friends. Deciding he wanted to be a deejay, he began writing his own lyrics at the age of 11.

Eager to show off his skills, Adidjah and his friends Arif and Boyie often frequented the weekly Gong Talent Show at the now defunct Coney Amusement Park on the outskirts of Kingston, but to their chagrin were always gonged off whenever they got a chance to perform. Undeterred by his weekly failure to impress the talent show audience, Adidja decided to hone his skills and concentrate on winning over his own community of Waterford until he was ready for bigger things. With that goal in mind, on weekends he would practise his art on neighbourhood sound systems Soul Signal and Electric Force. In 1993, the young Adidja, now in his early teens, recorded his first single Love Fat Woman for Alvin Reid's One Heart Label under the name Adi Banton, a name he chose in tribute to Buju Banton, another of his role models. He recorded several more tracks for local producers, perfecting his craft until 1996, when he and two friends, Mr Lee and a singer called Escobar, decided to form a group. One night, after watching a movie about Pablo Escobar and his infamous cartel, Adidjah came up with a name for his trio: Vybz Kartel.

Vybz Kartel's new role as Killer's protege (a spot once held by prodigal prodigy Baby Cham) caught the attention of the public and led to a meteoric career rise, first as a ghost-writer for Bounty, Elephant Man and other members of the Scare Dem Crew, followed by collaborations with Bounty Killer such as Gal Clown and Girls Like Mine (Liquid Riddim), then finally coming into his own with early hits such as Gun Clown, Guns Like Mine (Trafalga Riddim), Badman (Panty Raid Riddim), Bus Mi Gun Like Nuttn, Most High (Mexican Riddim) and War Organizer (Clappas Riddim). He also had a string of successful collaborations with Wayne Marshall, such as New Millennium (Mad Antz Riddim), Why (Krazy Riddim) and Why Again (Good To Go Riddim). This unprecedented and impressive debut led to Vybz Kartel being crowned Deejay Of The Year at Stone Love's 30th Anniversary, 2002, a feat unmatched by any new artist in dancehall's history.

From the outset, Vybz Kartel was more of a 'badman' deejay than a pop artist, most likely owing to his influence from hardcore legends Bounty Killer and Ninja Man. In his early career he mostly concentrated on unapologetically hardcore, undiluted songs extolling the virtues of guns, sex and ganja, but his biggest hit was yet to come. He had success with more mainstream, club-oriented singles such as Big Man (Engine Riddim), P*ssy Jaw (Mad Antz Riddim), Sweet To The Belly (Egyptian Riddim) and Bruk Buddy (G-String Riddim), but in late 2003 his single Tekk Buddy on the Thunder Clap Riddim proved to be the one which catapulted his career into the stratosphere. The single stayed on the charts for months and spent weeks at the number 1 position, and finally brought Vybz Kartel to the attention of those who hadn't yet become aware of his burgeoning stardom. His newfound mainstream success, coupled with his hardcore street credibility, critical acclaim and widely-hailed lyrical ability set the stage for the inevitable; a showdown with another artist to prove his worth. What was surprising to many was the unlikely challenger: Vybz Kartel's longtime idol Ninja Man.

In summer 2003, Bounty Killer and a group of young artists whose careers he had helped jumpstart came together as a loosely-knit group self-styled the Alliance. This group consisted of former Bounty proteges Elephant Man, Kiprich and Wayne Marshall, longtime Bounty collaborators such as Angel Doolas and new artists Vybz Kartel, Jagwa and Predator. The presence of Elephant Man and Vybz Kartel in the Alliance carried a great deal of industry clout, which was resented by some artists. The group was seen by some as a cartel seeking to gain control of dancehall through dictating which 'riddims' got popular by choosing only to work with certain producers and determining which stage shows and concerts did well by contractually performing as a group. Ninja Man expressed his displeasure through a series of media outlets and appearances threatening to undermine the Alliance by targeting each of its members in turn. To Bounty Killer, who regarded Ninja Man as his professional mentor and his 'deejay father', this came as a betrayal. The matter was expected to be resolved at the infamous annual Sting stage show, held every Boxing Day (December 26th) and regarded as hardcore reggae's most important stage show, notorious for onstage clashes between rival dancehall deejays ( Super Cat vs Ninja Man, Bounty Killer vs Beenie Man, Bounty Killer vs Merciless to name a few). In the weeks leading up to the event, Bounty Killer let his disappointment at his one time mentor become known publicly and expressed no reservations at having himself or one of his camp accept Ninja Man's challenge. Vybz Kartel accepted the challenge and the stage was set for a lyrical showdown

In the early morning hours of December 27, 2003, Vybz Kartel took the stage at Sting prepared for musical battle. After performing a string of his more popular hits from earlier in the year Kartel launched into a musical assault of his most deadly 'badman chunes', designed to get the crowd firmly in his corner. Using his hometown advantage (Sting is held at the Jamworld Entertainment Complex, within walking distance of Waterford) Kartel threw down the gauntlet and challenged his opponent to battle. Ninja Man accepted the challenge and came onstage, greeted by water-filled plastic bottles hurled from the strongly partisan crowd. Ninja Man attempted a lyrical counterstrike of his own, but was cut short by another verbal barrage from Kartel. Ninja Man, who seemed to have lost his composure by then, shoved Kartel, who struck back several times in retaliation. This was the first onstage physical altercation in Sting's 20 year history.

The fallout from Sting 2003 seemed to help Kartel's career rather than hurt it. What was perceived as Kartel's beatdown of Ninja Man, both lyrical and physical, added immeasurably to his street credibility among hardcore fans. At the same time his raunchy, X-rated lyrics in Tekk Buddy and other sexually explicit songs to follow won over a large following of female admirers, who ignored his less-than-appealing physical demeanor in favour of his seductive voice and seductive wordplay and naughty rhymes on Tekk Buddy sequels such as Picture Me And You (Blackout Riddim), When Gal Want Buddy (Good To Go Riddim), Buddy Nuh Done (Allo Allo Riddim), Likkle Lady (Chrome Riddim) and p*u**yy Haffi Good (Highty Tighty Riddim). His arrest and subsequent three day stint in jail following Sting only helped to give him new subject material (When Shotta Guh A Jail, Chrome Riddim), as did rumours that he had been killed in a driveby shooting the day after Sting (More Life, Thrilla Riddim). When conservative media protested the 'slackness' of his lyrics, he responded by releasing even rawer songs (More p*u**yy Fi Mi Buddy, Arriba Riddim). By early 2004, Kartel had become reggae royalty, the crown prince of dancehall, but another showdown was yet to come.

In late 2006, Vybz Kartel reportedly changed his stage name to "Addi di Teacha". This makes sense in the context of his introduction of his song on the Seasons riddim "Can't Move We", where he says "you know its tha teacha". Reasons for the name change may include an ultimate goal of changing his lyrical content, but it is rumoured to be an attempt to distance himself from Greensleeves Records. Fans still generally refer to him as Vybz Kartel.

In the later part of 2006, rumours arose of tension within The Alliance. Kartel's insistence on remaining associated with Bounty Killer's longtime adversary, Beenie Man. Vybz Kartel infuriated his mentor Bounty Killer by attending Beenie Man's wedding to Bounty Killer's ex-girlfriend, D'Angel. Vybz eventually announced his departure from The Alliance, and a number of disses were sent between the two parties. Rumours arose that Vybz Kartel was going to join Beenie Man's Mafia House record label run by Abdullah Hamid, however Vybz stated his departure was due to his desire to be a solo artist, independent from a group, and that he would not join Mafia House but instead head his own group, The Portmore Empire. It had seemed that tensions had died down, but a shooting and Bounty Killer recently branding Kartel a "battybwoy" and a "blo*o*dclaat informer" seems to indicate that there is still bad *lo** between Vybz Kartel and The Alliance. Vybz Kartel's protegé Aidonia was recently kicked out of the The Alliance.

And as they say the rest is history.

The Church 'attacks' 'Spain'

Spanish Town

The church decided to attack Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Sunday and did just that.

But they did not attack the town for any *lo** letting, but to gain souls and to put a stop to violence. The 'attack' was done by members of the Spanish Town's Ministers Fraternal at the staging of the Spanish Town Revival held at the Municipal Bus Park.

As a way of putting forward their aim, Bishop Rowan Edwards, one of the presiding ministers dramatised the whole way forward for the Old Capital.

The meeting saw hundreds of people flocking under the tent, was told by Bishop Edwards in his sermon, that the persons causing mayhem are "blindfolded" by the devil.

He took stems of roses to people in the audience who expressed sorrow due to the passing of loved ones by way of violence. He threw loaves of bread to persons. He said they were symbols of sacrifice to cleanse Spanish Town.

Among those who attended the meeting was Spanish Town's Mayor Andrew Wheatley. "I think it is good for the Church to bring persons from all walks to Spanish Town as a part of their revival campaign, this can only be good," he said.

Edwards told THE STAR that the revival is a way forward for Spanish Town's survival.

"I think that Spanish Town needs persons from the Church to unite and cause them to see that there is a better way and it is a testimony tonight that the thirst for change is being quenched, " he said.

Infants die in flames

Tragedy struck on Crescent Road, off Waltham Park Road in St Andrew yesterday afternoon when three children, all under the age of 10, perished in a fire that gutted the five-bedroom house which they occupied with their mother and other family members.

Dead are four-year-old Moesha Davis, one-year-old Daysha Davis, and their five-year-old half brother who was only identified yesterday as 'Tyrese'.

Reports from the neighbours are that the children's mother, Princess Henry, left them unattended at minutes to 3:00 p.m. to go to the shop when she was alerted that the house was on fire.

Police have since commenced a search for the 27-year-old mother who they said fled the scene after it was reported she would be wanted for questioning.

Radolph Bartlett, granduncle of the three children, told The Gleaner he was asleep in the adjoining room when he was awakened by the smell of smoke.

"When mi look 'round I think it was smoke coming from next door, but when I look good, is fire I see a come from dem [the children] back window," he said.

Too late

Bartlett said he then remembered that the children were home and ran over to their side of the house to assist them, but when he got there it was too late.

"When I reach at the step is a ball a fire in there, so there was no way I could get in there," said the uncle.

He said he then rushed to the gate and began shouting for help when the neighbours arrived with pales of water and began dousing the flames.

Bartlett said he was not only sad but angry with his niece as this was not the first time she had left the children unattended.

"You know seh a di second time fire mek fi kill dem pickney there," he said. "The first time a mi and mi nephew rescue them cause she leave them lock up and gone," he said.

District Officer Patrick Gooden, of the Half-Way Tree Fire Station, said it took two units from Half-Way Tree and York Park to put out the flames.

"It took us about 25 minutes after arrival to get the flames under control," he said. Gooden however said when they arrived on the scene the children had already perished. Damage is estimated at $1.2 million and the house was not insured.

Barrington Davis, the father of two of the infants, said he was at a betting shop in Cross Roads when he got the call from the children's mother that they had died.

findImg.php?pic_size=200&table_name=news_img_tab&table_field=img_id&img_id=1397 Jamaican bad boy Mavado has been named "Best New Reggae" on Rolling Stone Magazine list of The 125 Plus People, Places and Things Ruling The Rock and Roll Universe.

Below is the complete review by Evan Serpick Associate Editor at the magazine.

If you think reggae died with Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, think again. Jamaica's latest star, Mavado, c****ines hip-hop-influenced beats with ominous minor-key vocals about street life and salvation.

"I started singing when I was four or five years old, and people always wanted me to sing more," says Mavado, who grew up in Cassava Piece, a rough dirt-road section of Kingston. Over the past few years, the 27-year-old singer who has a heavily scarred face and dark, *lo**shot eyes has catapulted to the top of Jamaica's MC circuit on the strength of songs such as the taunting "Real McKoy."

Last year, he released his debut album, Gangsta for Life; his thuggish style has won him fans in the U.S., where hip-hop stations have started playing tracks like "Weh Dem a Do" and "Last Night." Jay-Z was so impressed that he cut a remixed version of Mavado's "On the Rock," stepping out of his comfort zone to rhyme in a hyperspeed flow. Mavado recently played a number of U.S. shows and was surprised to discover how many fans he has here. "The fans in the U.S. are more hyperactive," he says, "because they don't see Mavado that much."

MBC shoots video for their hot new single Busted
26 Apr 2008 | by Contributed Article

Hot dancehall girl group MBC (Make Boyz Cry) is getting ready to release a brand new single titled Busted produced by none other than their multi- platinum award winning manager & producer Computer Paul. MBC (Make Boyz Cry) has already enjoyed a fair amount of success with other singles such as Short A Nuttn and Real Bad Man on Computer Paul's Boot Camp label. However the group is very excited about Busted because of the level of impact the song has already created in the streets, it has been receiving a lot of support from radio stations and sound-systems island wide.

MBC.jpgTongues have been wagging about busted none stop as the song is quickly catching on especially among female fans, because of its lyrical content. The song unfolds almost like a Jamaican roots play, "Busted" is basically a telephone conversation between two women about the man in their life. As expected the conversation is filled with harsh Jamaican realities, controversy, drama and humor. Computer Paul recently contracted the services of video director Andrew Val for the making of a music video in support of Busted. The video was shot at various locations on Red Hills road in Kingston and will be released to cable and television stations locally and abroad early next month.

MBC would like to make it known that although they have recorded this new single under the name Heart Break Club on Boot Camp Record's hot new rhythm Hypocrites. MBC is still together as a group with all three original members Diamond, Foxy and Miss Chin, despite rumors about the group being broken up.

Until recently live music in Jamaica was living red with Red Stripe as title sponsors for stage shows such as Reggae Sumfest. While Red Stripe has pulled its sponsorships from live music with 'violent and anti-social lyrics', its sponsorship of live music in the UK has been growing since 2007.

According to www.redstripe.net the company has recently launched its first national TV sponsorship campaign with a cult Channel 4 music show in the UK. This comes on the heels of Red Stripe's headline sponsorship of two UK music festivals, Camden Crawl and The Great Escape.

A story on just-drinks.com cited "the company, which brews and markets Red Stripe under licence for Diageo in the UK on April 10 announced that it has invested J$500,000 (US$988,000) in the campaign which will see the Jamaican beer sponsor the 30 minute programme 'Rockfeedback Presents' over the next two months and throughout the Autumn."

New series

Rockfeedback presents is a new series which follows artistes across the globe in a variety of unique ways, the programme will run starting in April every Friday night. Artistes set to be featured are mainly rock oriented including Muse, Blonde Redhead, Gogol Bordello, Vampire Weekend, Late of the Pier, Justice, Jens Lekman, Jeffrey Lewis, Four Tet, MIA, Iggy Pop & The Stooges, Laura Marling and many others. The event will be shot in a variety of locations including Las Vegas, London, and Austin, Texas.

On just-drinks.com Red Stripe spokesperson Jonny Kirkham said: "Supporting RockFeedback further underpins our positioning with credible and honest music made by credible and honest artistes. Red Stripe has had a legitimate place in music for over 30 years because, like the people who drink it, it is prepared to challenge the mainstream.'

Red Stripe Music Awards

STARRIGHT_1_PRH2RedSummAM.jpg

In support of this promotional strategy, the Red Stripe Music Awards have been initiated, with the winner of the award receiving featured billing at two music festivals and the opportunity to tour with a high profile act. The finals of the Red Stripe Music Awards 2008 takes place on the 12th of May in the UK.

All this sponsorship activity comes in the wake of Red Stripe's announcement that it would stop sponsoring live events, indicating an unwillingness to continue supporting events that facilitate violent and anti-social lyrics. In a statement the company said that its main sponsorship beneficiaries, the annual Reggae Sumfest and Sting shows will no longer have its support.

Yet according to a response given by Grace Silvera International Marketing director for Red Stripe, Red Stripe has been sponsoring music in the UK as far back as the mid-seventies, of which the two-year-old TV programme is a small part.

She responded, "Red Stripe's action in withdrawing from live music sponsorship is specific to Jamaica, where we have been unable to completely ensure we can uphold our Marketing Code. Because unfortunately the problem of some artistes glorifying violence is largely particular to parts of the Jamaican live music scene. Red Stripe may continue to support live music as appropriate elsewhere around the globe, in accordance with our strict Marketing Code."

he newborn boy of Maya Devi, 28, died Wednesday due to lack of medical help minutes after being born outside the maternity wing of Kanpur Medical College in northern Uttar Pradesh state.

Devi was only put in intensive care after giving birth but she died of a heart attack early Thursday morning.

Devi was a Dalit, or "untouchable", a group at the bottom of the caste social ladder who have long been ostracised and forced into menial professions despite laws banning discrimination. Many high-class Hindus fear coming into contact with them.

Dr Kiran Pandey, head of gynaecology at the hospital, told AFP she was an hour's drive away in state capital Lucknow at the time and rushed back.

"We provided her the best medicines and treatment but she succumbed to two cardiac arrests," Pandey said.

FAYETTEVILLE - A Benton County inmate claims he's wasted away from 413 pounds to 308 in the eight months he's been in jail and he's making a federal case out of it.

Broderick Lloyd Laswell filed a prisoner civil rights lawsuit, without a lawyer, Friday in U.S. District Court in Fayetteville. He claims the jail doesn't provide inmates with enough food.

"On several occasions I have started to do some exercising and my vision went blurry and I felt like I was going to pass out," Laswell wrote in his complaint. "About an hour after each meal my stomach starts to hurt and growl. I feel hungry again."

Laswell claims he's lost about a half-pound a day.

"If we are in a small pod all day do next to nothing for physical exercise we should not lose weight," according to Laswell. "The only reason we lost weight in here is because we are literally are being starved to death."

Laswell further complains the portion sizes vary.

A 19 year old man jumped in front of a commuter train in Miami Florida. According to witnesses, the man walked to the edge, looked to see if a train was coming and then jumped in front of the oncoming train.
The force of the impact literally knocked "his shoes off" and pushed him between the rail cars and a wall below the platform, where rescue workers rescued him, shutting down the Miami Metrorail until the rescue operations were completed.

The man suffered injuries to his right arm and possibly broke his legs and was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. The man's identity has not be released yet.

The train remained stopped at the Douglas Road station near Coral Gables, a wealthy Miami suburb. Buses transported commuters to another train station. The rest of the commuter system was operating normally, although a large part of it south of downtown was briefly closed due to the accident.

Miami Fire Rescue spokesman Ignatius Carroll tells reporters that the man was injured but those injuries were not life threatening.

Bounty, Monster feud brewing?

April 25, 2008
Started By linko16 Comments

Another feud has reportedly developed in the dancehall as a result of songs done by Monster Empire and Bounty Killer. However, Monster Empire claim they did not provoke the brewing lyrical war.

Monster Empire, which comprises Roundhead, Ghost and General B, was formerly called Monster Shack Crew. The crew recently released a song called Nuh Bad Man Fi We on the 'Unfinished Business' rhythmfor TJ Records. The song hurls several insults at Bounty Killer.

The songs says,

"A coulda wha duh b ... Bounty,

from D'Angel f... pon him,

him a move like a junky,

listen mi promptly,

yuh tek man fi punky,

bout man nuh badda than yuh shoes,

but yuh nuh badda than mi pumpy

When Kartel mce up yuh head wid di kitchen a8,

Yuh neva call up him name or diss him back."

General B of Monster Empire defends the lyrics saying the group did the song after Bounty Killer recorded a song with Firelinks two months ago in which he insults them.

Cow down people

"Bounty do a song pon Firelinks rhythm an' a call wi name an' a try cow down people. So wi haffi do song an' call back fi him name," an upset General B told The STAR.

"Everybody a mek it look like a we a push fire pon Killer first an' a nuh so it go. Monster Empire a nuh trouble maker group. Bounty a mi elder. Mi woulda neva deejay an' diss him but him call wi name first," he said.

General B says he has no intention of the feud going any further than on record as the group prefers to keep their disagreements lyrical and do music for fun. He says music should not be about 'badness' as artistes cannot be both musicians and 'badman'.

However, Firelinks says he has not recorded a song for Bounty Killer in which he makes mention of Monster Empire. The selector says the last song he did with Bounty Killer was Nutten Nuh Change which was done on the Airwaves Rhythm in 2007.

Claims refuted

Monster Empire's claims were refuted by Bounty Killer's manager, Julian Jones-Griffiths. He said Bounty Killer voiced a song called Bad Like Mi Shoes on Shane Brown's Warning Rhythm. He said it was done before he went on recently concluded European tour more than two months.

"Everybody keeps asking me about that. That's totally b ... .It had nothing to do with them (Monster Empire). That song was voiced even before he went on tour. It was voiced before they even did their song," said Jones-Griffiths.

In clearing the record, Bounty Killer said via his booking agent Sharon Williams of Solid Agency, "I didn't do any song for Monster Shack." The deejay would not

comment further on the issue.

According to General B, their latest song was also done as a follow up to other happenings in the industry. General B says, "it a come from To the World."

He says they did their song and then Elephant Man subsequently recorded a song of the same name.

"We, Ele and Bounty used to par. Him do a song wid the same name an' it nuh look good an' we a try get back a buss inna di business," General B said.

After To the World, they released You Ain't Going Nowhere in which they said 'nuh bwoy cyaan jook out mi eye like Harry Toddler'. General B says this comment was made because of an alleged altercation between Bounty Killer and Harry Toddler some months ago. He says Harry Toddler has not spoken to members of Monster Empire since.

"Wi jus' a put humour inna wi song. Maybe Bounty was offended because wi seh bwoy. But wi couldn't seh 'the five star general jook out Harry Toddler eye', " said General B.

Robert Bricker

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 50-year-old man is arrested on child pornography charges after police say they've found thousands of inappropriate photos inside a Jacksonville home.

Police said they were even surprised by how much child pornography federal agents discovered inside Robert Bricker's Northside home.

Investigators said they were tipped off to the alleged crimes during an online chat with the suspect.

"It's really surprising to me because I didn't know this," said Bricker's neighbor, Claudia Bryant.

Bryant said she had no idea that Bricker, who lives right across the street, is in police custody.

Investigators said they seized 7,000 images of child pornography from inside his home.

They said Bricker was downloading and distributing mass quantities of sexually explicit images of children over the Internet -- a secret that Bryant told Channel 4 she never would have guessed.

"I've got children -- nieces and things -- coming around here," Bryant said.

Police said that collecting child pornography was not a new hobby for Bricker. They said they found DVDs with images dating back to 2005.

According to investigators, Bricker used the name "stratocon" on the Internet. They said they started their investigations after he sent child porn to an undercover federal agent in Seattle, Wash.

"I am a father, and this is really disturbing to think that there are grown men that you never know who it is or who they are that would do this for their own pleasures and fantasies," said Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokesman Ken Jefferson.

For Bricker's neighbors, the accusations against the 50-year-old are a frightening reminder that you may not know what's going on behind closed doors.

"It's made me just think about what can happen next door to you, and that's just right across the street. It's pathetic," said another neighbor.

A federal grand jury indicted Bricker on 10 charges.

British singer Amy Winehouse arrives at a police station in London, Friday April 25, 2008, where she voluntarily appeared to be questioned in connection with an alleged assault that took place in the north London neighborhood of Camden. (AP Photo/Matt Dunham)

LONDON - Amy Winehouse was arrested on suspicion of assault Friday following reports that she scuffled with two men during a wild night out, Sky News television reported.

The 24-year-old soul diva, who recently entered rehab after years of erratic behavior and canceled concerts, arrived at a central London police station to answer questions relating to the alleged incident, her representatives said.

Police didn't directly confirm that Winehouse was in custody, saying only that a 24-year-old woman was being held on suspicion of assault. British authorities don't usually name suspects until they have been charged.

Winehouse didn't say anything to assembled photographers and cameramen as she walked into the station late Friday afternoon.

A man was quoted in tabloid newspapers as saying he was hit by Winehouse when he got in her way while she was playing pool at a bar in the Camden neighborhood and then head-butted another who was trying to hail her a cab in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Winehouse and her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, were arrested in the Norwegian city of Bergen in October and held overnight on charges of drug possession. A video of her allegedly smoking crack hit the Internet shortly before she won five Grammys this year for her critically acclaimed album "Back to Black."

She was arrested in London in December on suspicion of attempting to interfere with a court case involving Fielder-Civil, but earlier this year police said prosecutors were no longer pursuing the affair.

Fielder-Civil faces charges of perverting the course of justice stemming from a case in which he is accused of assaulting a barman.

SANDY - Three juveniles who were videotaped putting a bag of human feces in a microwave at a Salt Lake area convenience store were arrested on Thursday, police said.

On Mar. 23, three teenage boys entered a 7-11 convenience store located near 2100 East and 9400 South.  After milling around the store for a few moments, police said they went over to the microwave and put a bag of human feces inside -- and then set the timer for ten minutes before leaving the store.

A few minutes later, the microwave blew up and sent the excrement and a putrid stench around the store.  The appliance was destroyed and the entire store had to be fumigated for a long period of time -- resulting in lost profits, officials said.  Overall, about $3,500 in damages occurred.  (Photos)

The store's surveillance camera captured the teenagers and the entire stunt.

Sandy police said all three juveniles have since been caught, after the boys were recognized in media reports of the incident.  Authorities said all three teenagers confessed to participating in the stunt.

Each of the three boys was charged with third-degree felonies stemming from the incident.  They were not publicly identified due to their juvenile statu

A man who ate a hearty meal at the Hilton Kingston hotel without paying a cent, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Peter Callendar, appeared before Resident Magistrate Glen Brown to answer to a charge of obtaining credit by fraud.

The court heard that on the day in question, Callendar went to the hotel and ate a meal costing $2,300 without paying. In his defence, Callendar told the court that he went to the hotel seeking employment as a driver and "I see everybody sharing out food, so I go and share out some too."

He was sentenced to 10 days in prison.

Game Discusses G-Unit & Possible Tour With Lil Wayne

Thursday 24 April 2008 @ 9:53 pm

Earlier today, HipHopDX announced that The Games album L.A.X. was pushed back (with a similar move on G-Units part). On San Diegos radio station 93.3, The Game called in to verify the date, as well as talk about a few other matters.

Known for his name dropping, The Game explained his reasoning for listing several past great MCs on his newest single The Pain, featuring Keyshia Cole [click to listen]. My whole rap thing, my whole thing in Hip-Hop is to always educate or to take it back and pay homage, thats what Im all about.

This was his first chance to get in the studio with the bay-native Keyshia Cole since his career took off in 2005. Keyshia Cole, you know shes from California. She is one of the dopest young up and coming R&B singers out man. I always wanted to work with her since the beginning. Shes like a little sister to me and always has been since the beginning of both of our careers.

Of course, no love has been lost between him and G-Unit, so it was inevitable that he would throw a couple verbal punches in the interview. I pushed his album back, Im Mr. Interscope. I pushed his back to the 1st and then a week later on the 8th Im gonna come behind it and Im gonna clean up all the broken CDs.

He also announced a possible tour with Lil Wayne. We trying to get something together now. I think me and Weezy going out this summer on the *lo** Brothers tour, we gonna do all the states. Nothing solid [yet], but you gonna see Game out with somebody or somebody out with Game man cause its time to get back to work.

L.A.X. is due out July 8th.

With advances in medicine, healthier eating habits and less smoking, people have a greater possibility of living to 100 than at any time in recorded history. Here are some great ways to increase your chances:

Eat a Heart-Healthy Diet

A Mediterranean diet has been shown to be the best choice for healthy aging and disease prevention. On the list of countries in the world ranked by average lifespan, France, Italy, Greece, Spain and Israel are in the top 25; the U.S. ranks 45th. A Mediterranean diet is rich in colorful fruits and vegetables, olive oil, fish and whole grains with few processed, packaged or refined foods. Research shows it reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease more effectively than other diets, including low-fat diets.

Read the Newspaper

Centenarians are likely to be engaged in current events and take an active interest in whats happening in the world around them. Becoming disconnected, isolated or withdrawn can mark the beginning of deterioration and loss of function. Staying connected and current keeps your brain working and increases your sense of purpose.

Go Forth and Multiply

Having kidsespecially if youre a womancan help you live longer. In fact, giving birth after age 40 more than quadruples a womans chances of living to 100. Studies also confirm that men who father children live longer, especially if they start raising a family at a younger age.

Drink Up!

Studies indicate that you may live longer by drinking certain beveragesespecially tea (more than four cups a day of green, black or oolong). Tea drinkers have lower rates of death from cardiovascular disease and other causes. Moderate wine intake (up to 5 ounces a day for women, up to 10 ounces a day for men) also has been found to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Coffee is another potential health drink, with studies showing that moderate coffee intake is helpful in preventing diabetes, gallstones, Parkinsons disease, cirrhosis, kidney stones and even heart disease.

Watch Your Waist

Centenarians are rare, and obese centenarians are like hens teeth: They just dont exist. Keeping a trim waistline is a requirement if you are planning on living to 100. Its especially important if youre the type to carry extra baggage in the belly compartment, where excess weight contributes more to heart disease, high *lo** pressure and diabetes.

Get Married

Singles dont tend to live as long as married people. A 2006 study from the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health showed that never-married people were 58 percent more likely to die earlier than an age-matched group of married people. Divorced or separated people were 27 percent more likely to die earlier than married people.

Have Faith

When researchers compared occupations with life expectancy, they found that clergymen were among the longest-lived men and nuns were among the oldest women. Although the reasons arent yet clear, most centenarians reported having some kind of regular religious practice or belief.

Buy the Farm

If you want to live to be very old, and youve always dreamed of having your own little organic farm in the Berkshires, now may be the time. Studies show that living out in the country extends life compared with city dwelling.

Atlanta Schools Ban T.I. From Speaking

Thursday 24 April 2008 @ 11:50 pm

T.I.

T.I. has been banned from speaking to students at two metro-Atlanta school districts, leading officials to cancel an upcoming appearance featuring the popular rapper.

According to Atlantas WSB-TV Channel 2, an upcoming appearance featuring T.I. at Pebblebrook was canceled due to recent gang activity involving students, as well as the recent death of a student.

Officials with the Cobb County school district said there was no permanent ban on the rapper in their district, but admitted that the timing for his appearance was off.

Representatives with The Fulton County school district said T.I. was banned from speaking to students due to his gun conviction.

In March of 2008, T.I. , real name Clifford Harris Jr., pleaded guilty to possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers, unlawful possession of machine guns and possession of firearms by a convicted felon.

He was ordered to complete 1,000 hours of 1,500 hours community service speaking to youth about gangs, drugs and violence, Additionally, the rapper was sentenced to one year in prison, starting in 2009 and fined $100,000 dollars.

A man who, reportedly, tied up his ex-girlfriend and raped her, appeared before Resident Magistrate Glen Brown in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Kemar Smith, 25, of a Ashley Road, Kingston 13 address, is facing rape charges after he, allegedly, held down his ex-girlfriend, tied her hands and feet, used a knife to cut off her pants and raped her.

The court was told that at the time of the incident, Smith and the complainant were involved, but are no longer together.

Smith's lawyer applied for bail on his behalf, telling the court that he had no previous convictions. This plea fell on deaf ears, however, as he was remanded.

He is to return to court on May 5.
De'Juan Graham wanted to be a football player when he grew up

Mallory Goodman and her mother had just sat down in church for Bible study Wednesday night when Goodman grabbed her vibrating cell phone and glanced at the screen.

"Call me," said a text message from her cousin. "Your brother got shot."

An hour later, Goodman learned her 15-year-old brother, De'Juan Graham, had died at Shands Jacksonville hospital.

"He's gone," Goodman's mother, Mary Goodman, told her outside the hospital's trauma unit. Mallory Goodman collapsed in grief.

No arrests were reported Thursday in the slaying, which occurred after De'Juan and some friends went to play basketball in Panama Park off Buffalo Avenue. He was gunned down about 7 p.m. in a parking lot near the courts by a man who got out of a car and opened fire, scattering the group.

The motive is unknown.

Nearly 24 hours later, a group of women including Goodman, 19, and a younger sister returned to the paved lot and used bleach to scrub away a trail of *lo** stains. They hugged, they sobbed and they asked why.

"God took him away from me," screamed one of the women.

De'Juan loved to laugh, hang out with friends and aspired to be a football player one day, Goodman said. He was a ninth-grader at Grand Park Center, where he was correcting some behavioral problems, said his aunt, Yolanda Clark. Goodman said her brother was not a troublemaker.

"My brother didn't bother nobody, so I don't understand why he got shot," she said. "He didn't deserve to die like that."

Goodman said her favorite memory of her brother will be his beautiful ear to ear smile.

"He was happy. He laughed at everything," she said.

De'Juan is the city's 38th homicide this year.

Zumjay: She told me that I am the best and cried tears of joy. OutAroad.com: What's your favorite sex position and why? Zumjay: My favourite sex position is when my partner is on top because I get to see and feel more of her. OutAroad.com: What would you do if you found out that your girl used sex toys? Zumjay: I dont think she has time to even think about sex toys because we enjoyed making love physically. But for those guys whose girls are using sex toys please dont feel bad - at least its with a toy and not another boy. OutAroad.com: Where is the weirdest place you ever had sexual intercourse? Zumjay: Once I attempted to do it in the technical drawing room at school, but as we were about to make love a teacher came and knocked the door.

RIVERSIDE: Police say a pastor who was reported missing from his home in western New York has been found at an Ohio strip club.

A police officer patrolling the KC Lounge parking lot Friday morning in the Dayton suburb of Riverside spotted out-of-state license plates on 46-year-old Craig Rhodenizers car.

The FBI and New York authorities had been searching for Rhodenizer, who disappeared Wednesday after telling his wife he was getting his computer fixed at Best Buy.

He is the pastor of a church in Lyndonville, NY. Detective Matt Sturgeon said Rhodenizer was disoriented when confronted by police and said he felt emotionally guilty.

The single,  propelled by excellent street play and brisk sales, knocked Harry Toddler off the top of the Jamaica Music Countdown charts this week.

"It's good to see that Jamaicans are gravitating towards the concept of money over war. Just expect more of these meaningful songs on the charts making a similar impact. Thanks to all my fans who helped to push this song to the top of the charts. Look out for more positive songs from di Teacha," he told One876Entertainment

Last year, Kartel scored two number ones last year with Wine Pon You and Beyonce Wine.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A 16-year-old boy asked for help obtaining a TEC-DC9 9mm pistol, saying it would be "awesome" to use the same weapon as the Columbine killers in carrying out mass murders in two states on Sept. 11, a prosecutor said.

The boy, whose name was not released because of his age, was scheduled to appear Friday for a hearing in juvenile court. He was being held at a juvenile detention center.

Authorities detained the teen Tuesday on an initial charge of intimidation, St. Joseph prosecutor County Michael Dvorak said. His office was preparing charges of conspiracy to commit murder after authorities found more than 100 knives at the boy's home, Dvorak said.

He said a school officer investigating an unrelated threat at the teen's school, Penn High, discovered Internet postings in which the teen discussed his support for the Columbine shooters, a reference to the 1999 massacre at a suburban Denver high school in which two students killed 12 classmates and a teacher before committing suicide.

School officials questioned the teen about his postings and learned he had exchanged e-mails Sunday with an unidentified person in which they discussed conducting "Columbine-like mass murders" at the same time on Sept. 11 at Penn and another location, Dvorak said Thursday.

Teresa Carroll, spokeswoman for the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corp., said the other location was in Ohio.

The pair also wrote about researching how to obtain weapons and make explosive devices. The teenager, a freshman, asked the other person to help him obtain the TEC-DC9 9mm pistol, Dvorak said.

Dvorak declined to give any information about the person the teen corresponded with or what the person's intended target may have been.

Authorities also found several illegal snakes at the teen's home in Mishawaka, about 10 miles east of South Bend, Dvorak said.

Police searched the student's locker, backpack, home and laptop computer and found notebooks in which he wrote about killing a large number of people. They found he had searched the Internet on Monday for how to make propane tank b****s and for a reference guide on how to make explosives and other dangerous devices, Dvorak said.

COALDALE, Pa. - Police say a Pennsylvania man has survived a 500-foot fall into an abandoned strip mine.

Coaldale Police Chief Timothy Delaney says 23-year-old Nathan Bowman of Tamaqua was trespassing on coal-company property when he slipped and fell into the cavernous Springdale Pit early Friday.

He says Bowman survived a sheer drop onto a rock ledge hundreds of feet down.

Delaney says rescuers used a basket to lift Bowman out. Bowman is in serious condition at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem.

Delaney says Bowman is obviously extremely lucky to be alive.

Coaldale is 70 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

The mother of a 13-year-old girl was arrested last week after it was reported to the police that a mixture of salt and pepper was poured on to the child's genitals.

The St Catherine mother has since been charged with child abuse and is to appear in court next week, the police say.

Reports reaching The STAR are that the woman found out that her daughter was having sex and started to accuse the child of being rude and loose. She allegedly told her daughter that she was going to 'cool' her down.

It is reported that the child was held down on a bed, her legs spread apart and the mixture of salt, black pepper and bird pepper poured between her thighs. The child had to be rushed to hospital to ease the agonising pain, THE STAR understands.

The father of the teenager related the ordeal to a friend who then called the police and the mother was taken into custody and later charged.

Several persons from the area where the mother and daughter live expressed shock at the cruel act that took place in their community.

A senior policeman acknowledged the incident and confirmed that the mother was in custody awaiting her appearance in court.
