Create a new DWORD named WriteProtect (Right Click on right pane and select New»DWORD). Edit the value and make it 1. Just restart Windows Explorer and you are done. Next time somebody tries to copy data to the external storage device they will see

Can't copy to Mass storage device error

If you need to copy something just make the stored value of WriteProtect to 0

**Tips : to restart Windows Explorer take Shutdown. Click Cancel while holding down SHIFT+CTRL+ALT, this will close Windows Explorer. Now take TASK MANAGER by pressing ALT+CTRL+DEL take File>>New Task>> [ explorer ] and press Enter. **

Lil Wayne for Sumfest

When he burst onto the music scene in 1997 as the youngest member of the Cash Money Records group Hot Boys, Lil Wayne, then only 18 years old, was already recognised as one of the best rappers to come out of New Orleans.

Now, 11 years later, the Grammy-nominated star will be joining multi-platinum top R&B singer Keyshia Cole on International Night 1, Friday, July 18, of Reggae Sumfest 2008.

Stardom

Born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr, but more commonly known to the world as Lil Wayne, he rose to stardom along with his fellow Louisiana native group members Juvenile, BG and Turk with the hit tracks We On Fire and I Need a Hot Girl.

In 1999 Lil Wayne released his first solo album, Tha Block is Hot.

Not only did the album debut at number three on the Billboard charts, but it blasted the rapper into mutli-platinum success. After the release of the album, Wayne and the rest of the boys reunited to collaborate with fellow Cash Money Records artistes The Big Tymers to produce the internationally branded hit Bling Bling.

Although his subsequent two albums failed to surpass the level of success of his first, both Lights Out and 500 Degreez were certified gold in the United States.

Known also as Lil Weezy, today, he is one of the most respected and sought-after rappers in the hip-hop industry, known specifically for his edgy and distinctive underground mix tapes.

Best alive

In the summer of 2004, Lil Wayne surprised the rap game when he released the Tha Carter album, and soon thereafter was dubbed one of the best rappers alive by his peers. The album's eclectic lyrics and classic beats were a big hit for the Cash Money millionaire.

Following the success of both Tha Carter and Tha Carter II, 2008 would bring the record breaking Tha Carter III. The album's first single Lollipop became Weezy's first number one hit on the Billboard charts and broke records as it sold over a million copies in its first week alone, an accomplishment that hasn't been made by any artist since 2005.

Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III is the perfect example of creativity at its finest and with already certified hits such as Got Money, featuring fellow hip-hop star T-Pain and the lyrically intense A Millie it's clear that there's no stopping this ambitious 25 year old.

In 2007, an MTV poll selected Lil Wayne as 'Hottest MC in the Game'. In that same year, he was also named one of the Men of the Year in GQ magazine and in 2008 he was given the title 'Best Rock Star Alive' by Blender magazine.

The young "money motivated" artiste has never graced the Reggae Sumfest stage before. But his unique lyrical style separates him from the rest of his colleagues, making him a definite must-see for this year's festival.

20080702T020000-0500_137370_OBS_JUTC_STARTS_TO_ISSUE_REDUNDANCY_LETTERS_1.jpg

THE Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) started issuing separation letters to nearly 500 workers yesterday, as the Ministry of Transport and Works effects an agreement reached with trade unions last Friday.

JUTC industrial relations manager Albert Carty confirmed last night that 487 workers are being separated in the current process. Yesterday, 115 from the Spanish Town head office received their letters. Today, the rest of workers, from the Portmore and Rockfort depots, will receive their letters.

The letters, which are being issued by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security at its North Street office in Kingston, include information on the terms of the separation and the date of redundancy payments, which is July 30.

Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Social Security Alvin McIntosh said that his ministry's interest is in ensuring that the process meets all the requirements of the Employment (Termination and Redundancy Payments) Act and its regulations.

McIntosh said that yesterday's activities went well as there were no incidents.

The workers include more than 440 bus and maintenance crew represented by the University and Allied Workers Union (UAWU), and about 44 supervisors and clerks represented by the Union of

Clerical, Administrative and Supervisory Employees (UCASE) - an affiliate of the National Workers Union (NWU).

An additional 65 drivers, who have declined to be trained for the single-operator buses the company is importing, have until midday today to decide whether they will be trained, or be added to the redundancy list. This followed a request from the UAWU for time for them to reconsider.

Minister of transport and works Mike Henry, in a statement to the House of Representatives yesterday, said that it is planned for the entire system to become cashless, which will require commuters to purchase cards to access the buses.
Henry also paid tribute to the company's late chairman, Douglas Chambers, who was murdered by gunmen, allegedly linked to the notorious Spanish Town-based Klansman Gang, outside the company's head office last Friday.

Henry said that Chambers' board took over the JUTC with a staff of 2,743 persons covering 288 operational buses, or nearly 10 persons per operational bus. This is more than twice the international benchmark ratio of 4.5 persons per bus.

He said that over its nine-month administration, the Government had reduced the staff to 1,600 with the ratio now at approximately five workers per bus.

"This was part of the requirements and policy of the Government, which was that the bus company should establish its true operating costs before exposing
the commuters to any fare increase," Henry said.

He also explained that, in addition to the internal pressures, Chambers and his board also experienced much resistance in trying to regularise the widescale allocation of taxi routes and private bus operations within the Kingston Metropolitan Region, involving both small operators and the National Transport Co-operative Society.

He said that they also experienced pressures from people wanting to supply fuel from undetermined sources to the company at "special rates" under "special arrangements", as well as "unofficial security providers".

High energy at 'Rum Punch Strings and Blings'

Sadeke Brooks, Staff Reporter

This couple definitely felt the vibes. - Winston Sill photos

The energy at the beginning was low but the momentum eventually increased at the day-long 'Rum Punch' event, held at the New Kingston Golf Academy on Sunday.

The theme 'strings and blings' was adhered to, for the most part, as many women were dressed in revealing swimsuits, shorts and dresses, while the men simply 'blinged'.

Artistes like Elephant Man, Bounty Killer, Mavado, Bling Dawg, Munga, Leftside, Tifa, Timberlee, Natalie and DASECA's Loraine were among those spotted at the venue.

The Renaissance Disco was at the turntables, providing music throughout the day, and although there were not many patrons in the venue at 6 p.m., the selectors played some old-time favourites like TLC's No Scrubs and DMX's Ruff Rider's Anthem. By 7 p.m. the selectors had people rocking to Monster Shack Crew's Own Man and Scare Dem Crew's Nuh Fight Ova Gal.

Old hip-hop

When Coppershot started their set they immediately had patrons dancing the Log On and Online. At this point Cutty of Coppershot mocked Elephant Man, saying he was no longer fit enough to dance to his own songs. In no time, Sizzla was telling the people how to Slew Dem wid Karate, while Sean Paul told patrons how to Get Busy.

As ZJ Electra started her set, she had some difficulties with the equipment. She began with some old hip-hop and rap songs that the crowd barely responded to.

However, as she progressed, she showed that she was just as good as her male counterparts. She thrilled the crowd with Alliance Anthem on a hip-hop beat before she played Riding Dirty. She had the patrons dancing up a storm to Nuh Linga and Gully Creepa. Songs like Serani's Study People, Bugle's Cyaan Look Inna Mi Eye and Mavado's Gully Side resonated well with the audience.

People sang along to Mavado's Faster Than a Bullet and Overcome. She also mixed Usher's In Da Club with Vybz Kartel's Tic Toc and Munga's Wine Pon It before playing Calabria by Enur and Natasja. By now people were going down by the water slide, fully clothed and the all-inclusive bar was now inaccessible due to the magnitude of people.

ZJ Liquid was next on the turntable telling the people about My Scheme and Mission to Mek De Paper, especially the Trailer Load of Money. As he imagined being Stinkin Rich he said he was annoyed that the men were getting more videolight than the women.

Two-minute problem

He then switched the attention to the women with Busy Signal telling them how to Do Dat. In no time the women were 'jiggling their bodies', 'backing up' and showing that they 'know how to wine', while Liquid still 'teased them'. After a two-minute problem with the equipment the people were popping to Chi Ching Ching and Bling Dawg's Popcorn. Then he made the women Cool It Down for Busy Signal.

Renaissance returned for their second set and was obviously hell-bent on making the women dance. This certainly achieved their mission with Uku, Goodas Fi Dem, Beaten Beaten, Bubble Like Soup and Girls Territory.

Coppershot also returned with high energy playing Pamputae's Good Good, to which the women got wild and patted themselves. As the energy increased the rain started, forcing some people to seek shelter while some simply left.

Those who stayed, 'daggered' to Charlie Blacks asking 'ladies can you wine?'. Busy Signal's request to Wine Pon De Edge was obeyed and that was also the case when Vybz Kartel told the women to 'touch him'.

These women were not shy as they flaunted their outfits and curves at 'Rum Punch Strings' and Blings party.

The look in their eyes suggest that they spotted something that they liked at 'Rum Punch Stings and Blings' party, held at C & W Golf Acamedy, New Kingston on Sunday June 29.

They tried their best to shift the attention elsewhere when they attended 'Rum Punch Stings and Blings' party.
Beenie Sizzle date moved to August 6

Beenie_Man8.jpgThe organisers for Beenie Sizzle '08 have moved the date for the event from August 2 to August 6. The event will have a mixture of local acts, Caribbean acts, international acts, and vintage acts. Big names such as Soulja Boy, Lil Wayne and possibly even Usher have been circulated as possible guest stars at the event. The event, which was formerly called Summer Sizzle, took a brief hiatus last year.

Beenie Man's tax evasion trial put off

STARRIGHT_1_PHIRYStuntfOK.jpg
Beenie Man - file

Popular dancehall artiste Moses 'Beenie Man' Davis will have to wait a while longer to find out the outcome of his tax evasion trial as it was put off again, yesterday.

Three witnesses testified in the case yesterday. Two of whom were from the Inland Revenue Dept., while the third was the person who served the summons.

However, no major breakthroughs have yet been made in the case and only basic procedures to bring the matter to trial were addressed.

Resident Magistrate Owen Parkins, therefore, ordered that Beenie Man return to the Tax Court in Kingston on July 29 when the matter will again be heard.

Failed to pay

Beenie Man is said to owe the state close to $48 million in taxes for the period between the late 1990s and early 2000, during which time the entertainer was signed with Shocking Vibes and Patrick Roberts, his former manager.

The tax authorities allege that Davis failed to pay over $29,290,116 in back taxes and $18,641,254 in penalties, both figures reaching a total of $47,931,370 during this period.

Although Beenie Man could not be reached for a comment up to press time, the artiste who had been interviewed by THE STAR previously about his tax woes had said, "Dem (Government) sey mi owe dem from bout 1997- 2002 an dah time deh mi deh a Shocking Vibes an Patrick Roberts is di man weh response fi everything. Him collect all a mi money - suh personal tax an dem ting deh him suppose fi deal wid. Suh when me leave Shocking Vibes, mi leave wid mi two long hand dem an mi talent, a just my personal money and resources mi leave wid. Suh every contract, show, tour mi do Shocking Vibes use to deal wid dem," Beenie Man said.

Rapper Lil Wayne has been added to the line-up along with reggae's D'Angel, Konshens, Terry Linen & Alley Cat, Lust & Lutan Fyah and Rootz Underground. D'Angel, the former wife of dancehall star Beenie Man, is also set to play dancehall night on July 17th.

She joins the line-up with Beenie as well as Konshens & Alley Cat, Elephant Man, Bounty Killer, Voice Mail, Macka Diamond, Vybz Kartel, Harry Toddler, Busy Signal, Munga Honourable, Ninja Man, Busy Signal, Wayne Marshall, Assassin and Mavado.

They will join R&B singer, Keyshia Cole, known for hits like 'Should A Let You Go,' 'Heaven Sent' and 'I Remember,' who will perform on the international night on July 18th, along with Lil Wayne, Lust & Lutan Fyah and Terry Linen who have been added to the line- up.

Sumfest wraps up on Saturday, July 19th with performances from reggae greats, including John Holt and Beres Hammond as well as Tarrus Riley, Rootz Underground and Etana.
Meanwhile, a scheduling conflict will prevent rapper Ne-Yo from participating in this year's event as was previously announced.

Tutor in carnal abuse drama

July 2, 2008
Started By STUWY771 Comments

A 29-year-old drama teacher accused of molesting a 14-year-old female student was granted $300,000 bail in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

The teacher who works at a high school in St Catherine is said to have carnal knowledge of the schoolgirl who was under his control in class.

Family members became suspicious after a senior relative of the child observed how late she was coming from school. This prompted the elder to do her own investigations, which revealed that the teacher was having sex with her.

As a result, the matter was reported to the school's guidance counsellor and following a meeting with the teacher, the police were summoned and he was charged with carnal abuse.

Defence attorney Earle Ham-ilton, in applying for bail, told the court that "it was a moment of weakness, Your Honour, he was misguided and had a clouded judgement that seems to allow him to be overcome with drama".

RM Simone Maddix granted bail on condition that he does not interfere with the child and he return to court on August 19.

I think it's killa cause from him career start ppl send out negitive messages about him from banning his songs, holding down artist careers, di many rumors with angel, di fact say him and beenie at war, Gay community a fight, him house a issue even him car been a issue on people's tongues. I hate my baby

April 23, 2008
Started By alligcold21 Comments

Dear Pastor,

One and a half years ago I was married with a four-month-old child. Sounds normal, right? People meet and fall 'in love'. Wrong. Although this man is still my friend I only married him for immigration purposes. Then I had sex with him because I felt sorry for him. I got pregnant and was planning on having an abortion, but he and the immigration lawyer begged me to keep the baby. I kept the baby because he was my friend. That was a big mistake. Now, I am totally unhappy, and I feel like a total idiot. I married a man I only cared for as a friend. I had sex recklessly and became pregnant, and now I have a baby whom I totally resent. No, I hate my child.

I wasn't prepared for any of this. I don't want to be a wife and I am not mature enough to be a mother. I'm 22 and prior to having my child, I had never held a baby. This entire problem is coupled with the fact that we are completely broke. Pastor, I write to you because I need prayer. I am a college graduate, but I'm unable to find work. My husband is a nice man, but he is a loser and if I stay married to him, I'll be forever in poverty. But most importantly, I need prayer because I am afraid of what I might do to my baby. I feel so sorry for her. I regret that she had to be born to such an awful world and to such a failure as a mother. I fear for her life.

Lately, I have been hoping that she would disappear and most frightening is that I'm starting to believe that her dying would be the best thing for her. I have never wanted children because I believe the world to be an awful place for any human and I want my daughter to have peace. I don't believe there is peace in this world.

Please, pray for my daughter's father. Thanks.

K., Maryland, USA

Dear K.,

I suggest that you give this child to someone who cares. There are many families who would take this child and love her and care for her. You are not prepared to do that. You do not have any love in your heart for a child. Oh, how sad. Talk to her father and tell him that you would like to give the baby to someone who would like to take care of her. Perhaps he might have a relative who would gladly accept the child.

I don't want to comment on some of the things you have said. I know that emotionally and psychologically, you need professional help. It is not just prayer you need. So, the first person to talk to about the situation is the child's father and if he cannot find anybody who will accept the child, then you need to go public. The State will accept this child from you. But, please, do not keep this child and illtreat her. God will judge you severely if you were to do so.

predator_lost_artiste_alliance_girls.jpgThe response towards our latest feature - Lost In The Music has been fabulous. We have received tons of emails with lots of names that some of our readers request us to feature. There are names on some lists that surprised us here at OutAroad.com and we will be paying close attention to those artistes in the coming months.

This week in Lost In The Music, we will be featuring Predator - The War Editor.

The slang mad, sick, head nuh good, raged like a wild fire throughout Jamaica, and even caught on overseas. However, as Bob Marley sang: Yuh can fool the people sometimes, but yuh cant fool all the people all the time, so now you see the light Well the world has seen the light and have stepped into it and left Predator in the dark.

At the dawn of 2000 Predator was so hot that even internationally acclaimed dancehall artiste Elephant Man and his protégé at the time Kiprich borrowed his ideas and turned them into local hits. His songs Nah Nuh Head and Head Nuh Good stuck to the tongue of thousands and Predator looked destine to make it big.

Just a few days ago 876radio.com told you that the Warlord Bounty Killer had thrown down the gauntlet to his former friends turn foes Monster Empire. He even issued a challenge to go the extra mile of paying for them to appear on one of the popular concerts over the Summer/Christmas season (Fully Loaded, Champion in Actions, Sting etc.) where he promise to bring an abrupt end to their feeble career.

Well it seems that Monster Empire was not the only ones that decided to answer the call as famed sound system selector Ghetto B**** just a few days ago released a compilation titled "The War Is On" featuring Bounty and some affiliates of the Alliance going head to head with the Empire.

The 60+ tracks compilation sees the Warlord being defeated, but honestly from 876radio.com outlook the project was very biased from the initially outset in the sense that the Monster Empire (Round Head, Ghost & General B) voiced tracks in a dub plate style directly attacking Bounty, versus the Warlord who was featured using only a few of his current 45 singles.

Word on the street is that the Warlord heard the mix and is very upset with the selector this was also concurred by popular selector Tony Matterhorn who in his usual jovial tone was overheard at a popular summer series saying, "Ghetto B****, Bounty wah see yuh.. bout yuh name Ghetto B****, is a boom (b****) him gweh drop pon yuh...laughter".

However when 876radio.com contacted Ghetto B**** he said all is well between him and the Warlord and don't know of any brewing animosity.

"Ah just since week mi see Killa and hail him and him hail mi back, suh everything criss, is just ah mix mi nah diss di general, how mi fi duh that and dem man deh ah my daddy.. Killa a mi boss ah mi seh Alliance at dem enuh it jus look a way cause mi neva get Killa fi voice nuh dub"

Whatever the case may be let's see how this all plays out base on the lyrical assaults on the mix CD, one can be assured that the Warlord will not take this one sitting down. If nothing in certain, one thing is sure, This is shaping up to an interesting Summer for Dancehall.
THE marine police have so far this year seized seven metal cannisters with compressed ganja from underneath vessels leaving Jamaica's main port in Kingston, the island's capital.

The police target vessels leaving for countries in which the drugs are said to be in great demand.

"At the moment we are paying special attention to boats leaving Jamaica for North America, Trinidad, Canada and some Dutch-speaking countries. These are some of the countries where ganja fetch the best prices," said Superintendent Marlon Dietrich, head of the Marine Police Division.

The latest seizure took place Sunday when police found two cannisters of compressed marijuana from a boat at the Gordon Key berthing facility in the Kingston Harbour.

According to Superintendent Dietrich, the drug, valued at approximately US $450,000, was found shortly after 7:00 pm by officers on patrol.

The containers, he said, were clamped to the undercarriage of a boat destined for Trinidad. No one was arrested in connection with the find.

"The containers were found strapped to a section of the boat near the propeller which is submerged under the water. With the assistance of divers we managed to free it from the boat," Dietrich told reporters during the opening of the containers on Monday.

Alpha Rowen's 'Unlimited' vision

Rasbert Turner, Spanish Town

STARLEFT_1_PLJPUAlphaRoAM.jpg

Veteran singer Alpha Rowen says that to keep up with the business part of the music scene one has to be prepared. This is what gave birth to the Alpha Rowen and Unlimited band.

The band, he says, is three years old and is getting some request on local shows. However the aim is to take it to the world. "I see where it will make the music more real as each band member understands what the singer rehearses and, more over, you can present a full package whenever you're called upon," Rowen said.

The band consists of, on drums, Recardo Callaghan, aka Bolo; on keyboard, Richard 'Bounty' Vaughn; on bass guitar, Charles Williams and Jeffery Graham also on keyboard. The lead guitarist is Lambert Barnett.

Rowen says that for one to fully establish oneself in the music business, one has to go full throttle to show the world that it's a professional unit and not merely entertainment.

The man who claimed that he is responsible for three albums and over 80 singles, with hits such as Murder, No Chaka Chaka, Decent Girl and What Can I Do, says the band is here to stay and it is his way of giving back to the music industry whatever good things it has given to him.

"The music is a challenge and to go international is our aim. You have to place your money where your mouth is and that's not only on the microphone," he said.

Keyshia Cole for Sumfest

Following a riveting performance at the Miss Jamaica Universe pageant 2008, R&B songstress Keyshia Cole returns to Jamaica on July 18 for Reggae Sumfest.

Although, to some, she may seem like an overnight sensation, the powerful soul singer from Oakland, California has been working her way up the music industry ladder since she was 12 years old.

Now at the age of only 24, she's a multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated artiste with a passion for motivating and inspiring young girls from less fortunate backgrounds to focus on the more positive aspects of life.

Cole's first album, The Way It Is was a hit, which made R&B music appealing once more to a younger generation. The album produced the smash hit singles, I Changed My Mind, Love, I Should Have Cheated and (I Just Want It) To Be Over.

Wasted no time

Following the success of her debut album in 2005, Keyshia wasted no time getting back into the studio to record her sophomore LP. Between sessions, Cole worked with entertainment guru P. Diddy, to produce the hit Last Night.

In addition to this, Sean Paul requested Cole's voice for the remix of his single, Give It Up To Me. Keyshia's voice brought a different flavour to the track and helped boost airplay for the single.

In 2007, Keyshia teamed up with two-time Sumfest performer, Missy Elliot, and the queen of rap, Lil' Kim, to deliver the ladies anthem, Let it Go. The track would be Cole's first single off her much-anticipated album, Just Like You. As expected, the album did significantly well, selling over 200,000 copies in its first week, a career mark for Cole as The Way It Is sold only 89,000 copies in its week of release.

More mature

Just Like You represents a more mature side of Cole, both vocally and lyrically, making it clear why she's dubbed the Princess of hip-hop soul. Since its release, singles such as Shoulda Let You Go, I Remember and, her latest hit, Heaven Sent, are proof of Cole's capability to maintain a successful career in the entertainment industry.

With her spectacular voice and powerful soulful lyrics, it's easy to understand why she was an obvious choice for this year's festival.

Known to give her all during performances, there is already buzz surrounding what to expect from the R&B superstar.

She has a talent that surpasses so many others in the music industry and Sumfest patrons can mark the date with anticipation for when Keyshia Cole hits the Catherine Hall stage at Reggae Sumfest's First International Night 2008.

The BBC News website has an article published right now discussing the background of "Jamaican" wrestler Kofi Kingston. The new WWE Intercontinental Champion's real name is Kofi Sarkodie-Mensah, and his Mother is claiming that he is from Ghana and not from Jamaica. While Kofi is sticking to the story that he is indeed from Kingston, Jamaica, his Mother is quoted as saying "I told him: 'Kofi, your cousins watch you on TV in Ghana and want to know why you don't say you're from Ghana," to which Kofi replied, "it's a business." Dr. Jan Adams' license to practice medicine expired yesterday - not because of patient-related issues or his DUI troubles (which include an arrest earlier today on suspicion of driving under the influence), but because he has yet to cough up child support that he owes his ex, a spokesman for the Medical Board of California confirmed to E! News.

The California Department of Consumer Affairs sent Adams a letter last month informing him that he had 30 days to write a check or risk losing his license, a fate that reportedly also befell him in 2006 for three months, also for failure to pay child support.

Once the doc is back in good standing with his support obligations, renewal of the license can proceed, board rep Russ Heimerich said.

Adams, however, was arrested in the Northern California city of Vallejo early Thursday morning after police spotted him using an off-ramp to get on the freeway. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Solano Superior Court on Monday

New migration rules for UK

July 2, 2008
Started By Chabee5 Comments
Effective July 1, people wishing to apply to stay in the United Kingdom for a limited period under the following categories must apply for their UK visa under a new points-based system: 1. General: Those looking for highly skilled employment in the UK, or are self-employed or setting up a business; 2. Investor: Applicants making a large investment in the UK; 3. Entrepreneur: Those investing in the UK by setting up or taking over the running of a business; 4. Post-study: Persons studying now or who have studied in the past in the UK. Under the new system, applicants will need to amass points to satisfy the visa service that they can make a positive contribution to the UK. Points will be awarded for objective criteria such as qualifications, previous earnings, age and UK experience. Only those with enough points will be able to get a visa. Applicants are able to calculate how many points they will be awarded and, therefore, if they are likely to be issued a visa before making an application.
A SHOCK new report has revealed that Britains prisons have been flooded with illegally held mobile phones.

The report by HM Prisons Service claimed that one in every 23 inmates had access to mobiles, which are strictly forbidden inside jails.

Inspectors said the number of phones and SIM cards seized by warders had risen by almost 40 per cent in the last two years from 2,248 in 2006 to 3,606 last year.

Hard-pressed prison officers said the illicit trade in mobiles had rocketed after the black market price of phones fell from £500 to £200 per handset.

With the current prison population standing at 83,000 and still rising there is estimated to be one phone for every 23 inmates.

The warder said: "What happens if theres a riot or an escape being planned? They can talk to accomplices on the outside and talk to each other if theres a riot going on.

"Its a really worrying development. Then theres the drugs trade. These people are carrying on as if theyre still on the street.

"Lets face it, its not as if the phones have just been bought in to call the folks back home.

"Part of the reason that they want mobiles is so they arent monitored like they are when they use jail phones.

"You can tell there are so many of them about by how much theyre costing these days. Its just a question of supply and demand.

"Six months ago mobiles were changing hands for £300 for a basic handset and £500 for one with a camera.

"Now theyre as little as £200 for an all-singing handset. They dont cost that much more than in the shops on the high street."

There are fears some prisoners are using mobiles to continue directing criminal operations on the outside and in some cases intimidate witnesses.

The revelations are even more shocking because the prison service tightened up the rules three months ago.

Up until April this year it was only against jail rules for a prisoner to possess a mobile phone.

But the new Offender Management Act has made it a criminal offence to either possess or smuggle a mobile phone into a prison, punishable by up to two years.

The warder claimed the main reason for prisoners smuggling mobiles into jails was to make it easier for dealers outside to throw drugs over the walls.

He said: "Youve got the throwers and the people inside talking to each other right up until the time that the packets are lobbed up in the air and over the wall.

"They make sure the stuff is thrown into blind spots where there arent any staff and can be picked up without being spotted. When theyre in communication it makes it easy."

A spokesman for HM Prisons said they were trying to tackle the growing use of phones with a three-pronged attack.

This included stopping phones getting into prisons, finding the ones that have been smuggled in and introducing jamming systems that makes the phones useless.

"Joke"

The problem has become so bad at one jail - Londons notorious Pentonville - that warders have nicknamed it 'The Carphone Warehouse'.

Up to half the prisoners transferred from Pentonville to other jails had phones confiscated when they were moved.

One warder at the jail, who did not want to be named, said: "There are so many phones in here its become a joke - although its a bad one.

"For every mobile we find we know that there are at least a couple we dont. Prisons are literally awash with them."

Top of the prison list of shame is HMP Highpoint in Suffolk where the number of phones seized rose from 81 in 2006 to 231 last year.

Wormwood Scrubs in London just pipped Pentonville into second place. Warders found 197 illegal phones there last year and 195 in Pentonville.

A SHOCKING video has emerged showing a woman dying on a hospital FLOOR while people around her - including TWO security guards - do nothing to help.

Mental health patient Esmin Green is seen lying face down at the psychiatric ward as both guards sickeningly look at her and then walk away

Staff at New Yorks Kings County Hospital took more than 40 minutes to help the patient - who died an hour later last June.

Hospital staff have now been accused of covering their tracks as the CCTV footage appears to contradict their account of the 49-year-old's treatment.

Donna Lieberman, executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union, said: Thank God for the videotape because no one would have believed this could have happened.

There's a clear possibility of criminal wrongdoing with regard to recordkeeping, and that has to be investigated.

Green was taken to the unit for "agitation" but keeled over at 5.32am, records the tape.

Despite being only THREE FEET from an observation window no one helps her

A security guard strolls past Green lying facedown on the floor with her legs splayed at 5.53am.

Astonishingly he looks at her for 20 SECONDS - then callously walks away.

At 6.00am Green is seen writhing on the floor, thrashing her legs.

However her medical log says she was "awake, up and about, went to the bathroom" at 6.00am.

Green stops moving at 6.08am and moments later a second security guard is seen pushing his chair into camera view.

He also fails to help but looks at Green and leaves.

A female patient finally brings a clinic staffer to check Green and calls for more help.

The security guards have since been fired along with four other staffers.

A federal lawsuit filed last year in Brooklyn alleged neglect and abuse of mental patients at the hospital.

The suit sparked an investigation by the Brooklyn US attorney's civil rights unit which uncovered the horrifying tape.

BEVERLY HILLS, FL (AP) -- Florida authorities say a retired police officer has been sentenced to life in prison for the rape and torture of his estranged wife, who shot him in the chest to escape.

Daniel Begley Senior, who was an officer in New Britain, Connecticut, for 24 years, was convicted of sexual battery and kidnapping for an attack two years ago in Citrus County, Florida.

Authorities say Begley was angry his wife wanted a divorce and he tied her up, put duct tape over her mouth and kept her captive for hours while he beat, raped and tortured her.

She was able to free herself when Begley left the room and she shot him in the chest with his revolver when he came back. He was hospitalized, but later recovered.

His attorney says he'll appeal.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Two people caught skinny dipping in a Portland reservoir that is a main source of water for the city nearly caused officials to dump millions of gallons of water and close the facility.

Ryan Langsdorf, 28, and Ashley Moyer, 23, were found in one of two sections of the Mount Tabor Reservoir at about 3 a.m. Saturday during a spell of unusually hot weather. They were cited for trespassing.

But the two were swimming in a section of the reservoir that was not being used. Had that section been in use, water bureau officials say they would have had to dump millions of gallons of water from that pool and possibly shut off the reservoir.

Earlier this year, millions of gallons of water were dumped when someone put latex paint, a construction cone and hundreds of flyers into the water.

DELAND, FL (AP) -- Police say a 46-year-old man hit his mother in the head with a three-pound package of polish sausage. When officers arrived at the home Saturday night, Police say Gregory Allan Praeger was in the kitchen cooking and was on the telephone.

His mother old officers that he had been drinking and arguing with her. She said Praeger picked up the pack of sausage and threw it at her, grazing the back of her head. Police say the man confirmed his mother's story and was charged with battery. Jail records show Praeger was being held on a $500 bond.

JAMAICANS are being urged to strive for independence from State relief as much as possible during this hurricane season, and among other things, receive the necessary training to adequately manage the effects of hurricanes.

Director general of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), Ronald Jackson, in opening an ODPEM seminar on disaster preparedness last week, said that every Jamaican should to work together and not wait or fully depend on ODPEM or any other relief agencies in times of disaster.

He made reference to the Jamaica Red Cross' training of some residents in Cedar Valley, St Thomas - people who have been able to work on their own throughout hurricanes.

Minister of Local Government and Reform Robert Montague reiterated the point, and asked others to be shelter managers by hosting the needy in their homes.

"The best shelter is [hosted] in someone else's home," Montague said.

He also made mention of dishonesty with regards to people writing claims for things that they do not lose in hurricanes. He said this would no longer be tolerated.

Several hurricanes are expected to pass through the region this year rricane season in history.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - She's tried night clubs and online dating sites, but now a 42-year-old single mother is looking for love where everyone else's heart is breaking the real estate market.

After a year of trying to sell her four-bedroom home and eight years of singledom, Deven Trabosh is offering her South Florida home and a shot at marrying her on the Internet.

"I figured let's c****ine the ad because I'm looking for love and I'm looking to sell the house," said Trabosh, a Barbie-esque blonde who teeters around the nearly 2,000 square-foot house in patent leather heels.

"Marry a Princess Lost in America," Trabosh wrote in the ads she posted on eBay and Craigslist last week. She describes a life of romance and travel and a home decorated with vaulted ceilings, upgraded tile and a soaking tub in a gated community with a pool and tennis courts.

Trabosh, a licensed real estate agent who hasn't practiced in years, knew she would struggle to sell the home in the troubled real estate market, but insists her fairytale ad isn't just a sales gimmick.

"I'm struggling...I don't want to lose my house and I want to find somebody," said Trabosh, who changed her name in the ad to Traboscia to keep people from finding her in the phone book. "So I came up with this dream plan because I've always dreamt about being a fairytale princess."

She listed the home for $340,000 on a sell-it-yourself web site, but upped the price, adding a $500,000 shipping fee to include her companionship on eBay.

Trabosh says eBay removed her ad, though she planned to change the wording and repost it. Under the site's prohibited services policy, eBay does not allow the sale of human beings, body parts or relationships, spokeswoman Catherine England said Friday.

Trabosh hasn't received any serious offers, but says she's had nearly 500 responses, mostly positive, including one from Ottie of Surrey, England, who e-mailed to say, "You are offering the perfect life with the perfect American princess."

She whips out her laptop to show off a picture of Claudio, a handsome Italian wine and cheese taster, who she's been corresponding with since he responded to the ad. Seated on a white leather love seat in her living room, she giggles almost girlishly about him. They're hoping to meet in Miami in a few weeks.

She's gotten criticism too. Her 21-year-old daughter Haley says she just wants her mom to find love, but her 14-year-old daughter says her mother is embarra**ing her. Other have e-mailed to say she's selling herself short.

"I'm not selling myself. I'm selling love...to meet that true love," Trabosh says. "Of course, it's gonna take more chemistry and connection. It's not going to be instantaneous that I'm just going to be automatically for sale...it's a package deal for true love."

Trabosh isn't the first to use the Internet to hawk the unconventional. A heartbroken Australian man recently tried to sell his life online, including his house, job and friends. Others have sold body space, promising to display advertisements for the highest bidder.

"There is a plethora of quirky ads on craigslist that pop up on craigslist every day, and this appears to be one of them," spokeswoman Susan MacTavish Best said in an e-mail. "Scads of couples have met and, thus, married through craigslist over the last twelve years sometimes marrying the person who bought their tired couch."

Ideally, Trabosh hopes a European man will close the deal and says she's willing to move overseas.

"I know I'm putting myself out there. I'm sincere. I believe in true love," she says. "I want to get married again."

A PREGNANT woman died after being stabbed in the chest and her nearly full-term baby cut from her w**** in an horrific attack.

The baby boy was hospitalised at Deaconess Medical Centre in Spokane, Washington state, and was said to be in a critical condition.

A 23-year-old woman has been arrested.

Court documents said 27-year-old mum Araceli Camacho Gomez had her hands and feet bound with string and suffered massive trauma to her stomach area" late on Friday night.

*lo**y

An autopsy showed she died of the chest wounds, but had other wounds consistent with the cutting of the body to remove an unborn child.

Her body was found early Saturday in a park in the city of Kennewick, in the north-west US state.

Local woman Phiengchai Sisouvanh Synhavong has been arrested for investigation of first-degree murder and is accused of trying to pass the infant boy off as her own in calls made late on Friday night to emergency services.

She was being held without bail yesterday, with another court appearance scheduled tomorrow.

Court documents say gloves soaked in *lo**, a boxcutter, *lo**y paper towels, string, baby bottle and baby socks were among some of the items found in Sisouvanh Synhavongs bag.
Williams sisters can't vote because of their religion Serena Williams would vote for Barack Obama if she could. Don't even ask Venus Williams what her political leanings are. The Williams sisters, vocal on so many issues from fashion to gender equality and equal pay for women, say they're not allowed to vote because of their religion. The sisters, who have 14 Grand Slam singles titles between them and are among the most recognizable athletes in sports, are Jehovah's Witnesses. After their first-round wins at Wimbledon, both were asked about the Nov. 4 presidential election. "I feel that what I do in tennis isn't really political," Venus said after her 7-6 (5), 6-1 win over British wild card entry Naomi Cavaday on Tuesday. The work she does for UNESCO and other agencies was about helping people, she said, "I don't see it as political. I don't vote." Younger sister Serena said she was "excited to see Obama out there doing his thing." "I'm a Jehovah's Witness, so I don't get involved in politics. We stay neutral. We don't vote," she said. "So I'm not going to necessarily go out and vote for him. I would if it wasn't for my religion."

MIAMI (AP) -- Police say a Miami man who suspected his girlfriend of being unfaithful tortured the woman for more than three hours.

According to police, Roman Rengifo had been drinking when he began beating his girlfriend Saturday evening. Police say he accused her of cheating and started kicking and punching her. Then he threatened her with a knife and dunked her head in a bathtub filled with water several times.

Eventually, police say Rengifo tied the woman up with cords and threw her in a closet. When he saw that she was trying to escape, he tied her to a bedpost.

After Rengifo left the apartment, the woman says she was able to free herself and call for help.

Authorities were still looking for Rengifo on Sunday.

UNLIKE most hip-hop icons, 50 Cent actually enjoys sharing the mike - and the spotlight. Despite basking in the success of three multiplatinum solo albums and establishing a movie career, the Queens-bred rapper couldn't wait to reunite with his G-Unit running mates.

"[Lloyd] Banks and [Tony] Yayo are my family. No matter what we do on our own, we'll always come back and do records together," explains Fitty (born Curtis Jackson), who's optimistic the group's sophomore effort, "T.O.S. (Terminate on Sight)," dropping Tuesday, will flourish on the streets as well as the charts.

"Our clique is all about loyalty," he adds. "It's all about pushing each other. Both Yayo and Banks have had solo releases that have done very well. But that didn't mean we were gonna go our separate ways."

Unlike most emcees who blow up and promise their crew luxury cars, sexy girls and lots of dough, Fitty buried his ego after the album "Get Rich or Die Tryin' " made him an instant hip-hop icon in 2003. He quickly introduced his partners later that year on G-Unit's first album, "Beg for Mercy," which has gone on to sell more than 6 million copies.

The exposure sparked successful individual releases, including Banks' "The Hunger for More" and Young Buck's "Straight Outta Cashville," both of which went platinum.

"When you look at Eminem and Nelly, they both put out two records each before they introduced their boys," says Fitty, who remains close to Emimen, who with Dr. Dre helped launch his career. "People quickly got acquainted with G-Unit. The best part about that now is I don't feel like I have to lead."

It may be more like catch-up.

When Fitty heard Yayo tearing up former Gov. Eliot Spitzer on "Close to Me" and Banks boasting about his bedroom skills on "I Like the Way She Do It," he was inspired to break out his notebooks and tighten up his rhymes.

"I had to redo some things," he says, laughing.

"We were really pushing each other," Banks (born Christopher Lloyd) says. "Literally, by the time I got a verse done, Yayo would have his done. We were damn near fighting each other to get in the booth."

To his credit, Fitty - who recently turned 32 and has already started working on his fourth solo album, "Before I Self-Destruct," with Dre - made it easy on is crew by handpicking vicious and alluring melodies in advance from an array of virtually unknown producers. (Though one track does feature work from legendary Swizz Beatz.)

"I knew the sound we needed to reintroduce the power of a group," says Fitty. That couldn't be more apparent than on the NWA-inspired, "Straight Outta Southside," a raw, profanity-laced beast, or "Rider Pt. 2," which features Young Buck.

"If you look at hip-hop, there aren't any groups anymore," explains Fitty, who does respect the Roots and Wu-Tang Clan but feels there's something missing. "I wanna bring people back to the days of Onyx and Goodie Mob."

It's likely with the firepower behind "T.O.S," Fitty will get his wish. But even if he doesn't, the bulletproof general has already instilled the importance of unity within his troops.

"My loyalty's to the Unit because if it wasn't for us doing what we do as a whole, I wouldn't have anything," says Yayo (born Marvin Bernard). "I will always remember being in Southside Jamaica, Queens, not having what we have now. A lot of people get money and forget their friends. But not Fitty."

PUTNAM COUNTY, FL -- Investigators now say a man admitted to making up a murderous story about his missing girlfriend.

Clay County deputies arrested Keith Mike Tilley, 34, Saturday night as he slept in a car on the side of State Road 17.

The car had been reported stolen out of Volusia County.

Tilley told deputies he stole the car after fighting with his girlfriend. He claimed he may have killed her and dumped her body behind a dumpster in Bostwick.

Investigators didn't find anything after searching the area.

Tilley changed his story. Investigators say he hoped it would've drawn her out of wherever she was to go help get him out of jail.

Investigators need help finding 31-year-old Suzanne Horn.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call the Putnam County Sheriff's Office at 386-329-0800 or their local law enforcement agency.

A COUPLE face a legal right-to-life battle for their terminally-ill daughter against doctors who plan to let her die.

A judge will be asked to approve barring little Amber Hartland from a hospitals intensive care ward if she falls ill again.

Amber, six, has a rare genetic condition but has defied the odds by living longer than any other known sufferer.

Now her devastated parents Nick and Lesley have been told her short life is over.

Doctors say they will seek a court order to stop her being admitted to Cardiffs University Hospital of Wales in the future.

But the distraught couple vowed: No one has the right to play God with our child.

Heartbreak ... Lesley and Nick Hartland

Heartbreak ... Lesley and Nick

Nick, 31, and Lesley, 42, provide round-the-clock care at home for Amber, their only child. They insist that she still has a good quality of life despite her cruel condition, Infantile Tay-Sachs.

The brain disorder has left Amber, of Cwmbran, South Wales, almost totally paralysed, unable to speak and severely epileptic. But she can see and hear and communicates with coos.

Her survival is due to a revolutionary drug Zavesca, which costs the NHS £2,500 a month.

Her parents insist she is not a drain on NHS resources. The only additional treatment she needs is intensive care when she gets chest infections. This has happened five times in four years.

The last time was last week when her parents were given the b****shell news.

Decide

Lesley said: A consultant told us, Shes reached the end of her life and wanted us to agree to turn off her life-support. We said no and he said, Well, well have to let a judge decide.

Nick and Lesley, who believe the threat has been made on cost grounds, will move to another area if they lose.

Ian Lane, medical director of the Cardiff and Vale Trust, said: We do not take decisions about care lightly. We will continue to put Ambers best interests first.

We are asking the courts to decide on the best course of action for her future care.

July 01, 2008. MediaTakeOut.com just caught wind that G-Unit's new album Terminate On Sight is going to sell far more the execs over at Interscope imagined. According to the record label's projections Terminate On Sight could sell more than 700,000 units. We say "could sell" because it's not clear that the label even produced 700,000 units to be sold. How can MediaTakeOut.com be so sure of what we're saying .... well because an email was sent out last week from a Interscope exec who said exactly that. Here's the email in its entirety: From: xxxxxx@umusic.com Sent: Fri Jun 27 16:13:53 2008 Subject: Guys we understand u are pissed, all we can say is 2nd week #s will be out of here. We acknowledge we SIGNIFICANTLY underestimated the G unit fan base and online awareness. Therefore we have ordered an immediate increase in production, effective 9am today. Early first week estimates stand at around 700K to 800K US.... We are working to rectify the international shortcomings and put product in place by early next week. Don will be in touch. We don't understand. 50 Cent and G-Unit are among the most popular hip hop artists in the world. How can someone at the label underestimate their sales? 50 has the right to spazz out and bust somebody in the head.... Our advice to all you G-Unit fans - go out and get a copy of the album FAST ... while supplies last ....

Ever wonder how easy it is to speed your Windows Vista machine and make it run faster? Yes, its so simple that you dont need to be a computer technician to accomplish this. Microsoft has done a fabulous job to improve overall reliability as well as security in Windows Vista. I meant much better than Windows XP, and yet, there are some reports showing that Vista is outperformed by Windows XP to some extent. But dont worry, we are going to show you how to improve the perfermance of Windows Vista in 30 seconds. Yes, only 30 seconds! Less is more. This applies to Windows XP as well. Visual effects (graphics and animation) is one of the main culprits that occupy most of the system resource and slowing your computer. By disabling visual effects, your machine gain dramatic improvement on performance. Heres how you do it in Windows Vista: 1. Right-click on My Computer (if you dont see it on your desktop, you can access it from Start->Computer) 2. Then choose Properties, and then click on Advanced system settings. 3. From Advanced, click on Settings. 4. Then check Adjust for best performance under Visual Effects. 5. Click Apply then OK. Thats it! Do you see how simple it is? Fila is trying to make a comeback through the use of hip hop star Nas, who has just signed a one-year partnership with the athletic apparel company that will include his own line, reports Billboard.

The deal calls for Fila to offer reciprocal financial backing for Nas' print and TV ad campaign as well as his upcoming tour in support of his untitled album, due July 15 via Def Jam. In return, the MC will sport Fila gear and co-create an apparel line that draws from fashions of the late '80s.

"My best friend Will and I loved Fila," Nas tells Billboard. "It represented prestige and everything that was cool to us. When Will passed, we buried him in a black Fila sweat suit, so doing a deal with them has a lot of significance for me."

The brand means so much to him that he's gone against his own tradition of steering clear of endorsement deals. Fila president John Epstein recognizes the importance of having Nas on board despite his upcoming album that will speak directly and unapologetically to America's racial struggles.

"I had some trepidation, and then I started talking to 16- to 20-year-old kids in focus groups," said Fila president John Epstein. "They looked at me like I was crazy for not understanding his message of positive change. Nas is relevant to his followers and I don't have to understand it as long as they do."

A juicy new tell-all book from the ex-wife of rapper Mos Def reveals her sexual encounters with various professional athletes and celebrities, including Kanye West, according to The Toronto Star.

Alana Wyatt-Smith, 29, spills all the dirt in her newly-released memoir "Breaking the Code of Silence," which chronicles her marriage to the rapper. Their 2005 wedding took place three days after they met, she reveals, among other things.

The former stripper and seventh grade dropout says her book is different from recent efforts written by "video vixen" Karrine Steffans and Nas's ex-girlfriend Carmen Bryan. Unlike theirs, Wyatt-Smith says her book uses initials and nicknames instead of her lovers' real names.

"I disagree with putting names of people in there, just out of respect for their wives and children," Wyatt-Smith told The Toronto Star. "If this was about making money, getting rich, I could have wrote a tell-all book, 10 times better than Karrine Steffans.

"People want to know about the biggest names in the NBA, who proposed to who, and did what, and this and that; I could have put some stuff in there that would have made it a number one seller within days. I use nicknames, initials, that myself and the gentleman would know; the ones named I got permission from."

Apparently, one of the men who gave permission was Kanye West, as he is mentioned in the book as one of her ex lovers.

Mos Def

As for Mos Def, who has six kids with four different women, Wyatt-Smith accuses him of being too demanding, overprotective, and even physically abusive during their marriage.

Wyatt-Smith writes: "I don't believe that his intent was to hurt me, I believe that he was trying to prove a point. But I had shared and cried with him many nights about my past (abusive) situation and I asked of him not to do that, because it brings back memories; so I found it to be more disrespectful, because he knew what I had been through."

The author says she didnt press charges after the first alleged incident because she didn't "want to cause problems," believing the incident was "a first and last."

Her book also claims they tried several times to reconcile since breaking up in Oct. 2006; and that the two are technically still married.

"He won't sign the papers," she told The Toronto Star. "He told my lawyer if he can't have me, nobody else will."

Winston Bailey had already boarded his flight for Curacao, awaiting its departure when police personnel removed him from the aircraft at the Norman Manley International Airport last Tuesday.

He was brought before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday, accused of forgery and uttering forged documents.

The investigating officer in the matter yesterday told that courts they were acting on information when they accosted Bailey. He said a search of the accused man's car which was parked at the airport turned up a forged Tax Registration Number card, National Insurance Scheme (NIS) card, along with the forged passport he was about to travel on, all bearing the name Fitzroy Anthony Godfrey. The officer said Bailey had travelled on the forged passport extensively as it had a valid American visa.

Tom Tavares-Finson, Bailey's attorney, told the courts that his client had applied for an American visa under his real name, Winston Bailey, over 10 years ago and was turned down. His client, he continued, then reapplied, using forged documents, and the visa was granted. Tavares-Finson said the act, falsifying the document, was a youthful mistake made by his client in his younger days.

Resident Magistrate Glen Brown said he needed to have dialogue with the Passport Immigration and Citizenship Agency in order to complete the matter as after the accused's passport expired some years ago, he applied for a new passport under the Fitzroy Anthony Godfrey, which was granted.

Bailey pleaded guilty to the charges and is to reappear before the courts on July 7.
