The man who stunned the world when he announced he was pregnant gave an intimate insight into his personal life in a revealing television interview with Oprah.

Thomas Beatie stripped off for the cameras and bared his baby bump and also revealed pictures from his beauty queen days as a young woman.

However, the 34-year-old transsexual also told chat show host Oprah Winfrey that he feared for his own safety and admitted doctors had warned him his baby could be killed because of the revulsion at her birth.

Now six-months pregnant, Beatie walked onto the show with a grey cardigan stretched over the growing bump.

The TV chat show queen was filmed patting Beatie's bulging stomach during the hour long interview with his wife Nancy.

The 34-year-old transsexual was filmed for the show undergoing an ultrasound scan and preparing for the birth of their daughter.

Blurred images of the baby girl could clearly be seen as a smiling Beatie looked on.

Beatie said many doctors had refused to treat him and one warned him: "People would try to kill my baby because it is an abomination."

His appearance on US TV was part of a media blitz to knock down suggestions the pregnancy was a hoax.

As well as the Oprah show, Beatie also gave a detailed interview to People magazine.

The former beauty pageant queen, who conceived through artificial insemination, confessed many people saw him as a "freak".

He said some of his own family members had referred to the baby as "monster".

He accepts that not everyone will understand why he and his 45-year-old wife decided to have a child, which is due in July.

The couple, from Bend, Oregon, said they had already thought about the task of telling their child how she came into the world.

"When she's old enough, we'll sit her down and tell her everything," Beatie said.

"We will tell her how her parents love each other and love her very much.

"Our daughter is beating these incredible odds to get here - physical obstacles, social obstacles, everything.

"And in my dreams I dream the world will see her the way we do,as this amazing gift to us. As a miracle."

Beatie, who was born Tracy LaGondino in Hawaii, caused a worldwide sensation last week when he revealed the pregnancy in the gay magazine The Advocate.

But after neighbours in Oregon poured scorn on the pregnancy it was thought to be an elaborate hoax.

Beatie legally became a man after undergoing a sex change operation - but kept her female reproductive organs.

He told People magazine he decided to get pregnant after wife of five years Nancy had a hysterectomy.

"If Nancy could get pregnant, I wouldn't be doing this," he said.

"But who hires a surrogate if they are perfectly capable of carrying their own child?

"Why would I trust someone else when I know I'll do a better job of taking care of my body than anyone?

"And I'll be the father and Nancy will be the mother.

"Having this baby doesn't make me any less of a man."

Beatie said he was afraid of how people would react when he gives birth.

"I want to make it easier for the next couple like us, but I'm afraid.

"Afraid of how people will react for our safety. I don't want to lose the life we have." Nancy, a mother of two, added: "We know this is a hard thing for some people to understand.

"But to us we're just a husband and wife who are having a baby."

TURIN, Italy (AP) - Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro is returning to Juventus.
The Serie A club said Tuesday the 35-year-old defender, who left for Real Madrid in 2006, signed a one-year contract to rejoin the Turin side on July 1.

Cannavaro, the 2006 world player of the year, angered Juve fans when he left for Madrid after the Italian club was demoted in a match-fixing scandal.

"I am happy to be back in Turin and to have the opportunity to again wear the black-and-white jersey," Cannavaro said on the club's Web site.

"I'm sorry that among some of the fans there still prevails rancor about appreciating the glorious seasons that we lived together," he said.

Cannavaro pledged to win over "even the most skeptical among them through my work, professionalism and passion with which I'll face this new adventure."

Juve said that in 2006 it was "forced to let him go to deal with urgent financial needs."

The club said it was sure that Cannavaro's presence "will make Juventus more competitive."

Cannavaro's return was announced a day after Juve fired coach Claudio Ranieri. The club has gone winless in its last seven games and is only one point clear of Fiorentina in the race for third place, with two games remaining.

Ciro Ferrara, a former Juve defender, was put in charge for the rest of the season.

DES MOINES, Iowa Looking out the 11th floor window of her law office, Jane Wiggins did a double take and grabbed her camera. The dark, undulating clouds hovering outside were unlike anything she'd seen before.

"It looked like Armageddon," said Wiggins, a paralegal and amateur photographer in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. "The shadows of the clouds, the lights and the darks, and the greenish-yellow backdrop. They seemed to change."

They dissipated within 15 minutes, but the photo Wiggins captured in June 2006 intrigued and stumped a group of dedicated weather watchers who now are pushing weather authorities to create a new cloud category, something that hasn't been done since 1951.

Breaking into the cloud family would require surviving layers of skeptical international review. Still, Gavin Pretor-Pinney and his England-based Cloud Appreciation Society are determined to establish a new variety. They've given Wiggins' photo and similar pictures taken in different parts of the world to experts in England, and are discussing the subject fervently online.

"They (the clouds) were the first ones that I noted of this type and I was unsure which category to put them under," said Pretor-Pinney, author of "The Cloudspotter's Guide." "When we put pictures up online we list the category, and I wasn't sure how to categorize it."

Some scientists are skeptical. They argue that researchers who have long watched the sky haven't seen anything distinctly new for decades.

There are three main groups of clouds: cumulous, cirrus and stratus. Each has various sub-classifications built on other details of the formation.

Brant Foote, a longtime scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo., said the clouds photographed by Wiggins already fit into the existing cumulous classification.

But Pretor-Pinney, who never studied meteorology, believes the clouds merit their own cumulus sub-classification. He proposes they be called altocumulus undulatus asperatus. The last word Latin for roughen or agitate is a reference to the clouds' undulating surface.

"Not necessarily gentle or steady, but quite violent-looking, turbulent, almost twisted in its appearance," he said.

The group has compiled several photographs documenting the formations from the billowy, rolling clouds shot by Wiggins in Iowa to ones from New Zealand that were much more menacing, hanging lava-like in the sky.

Foote said it would be "very unusual" for such a formation to be recognized as a new variety of cloud.

"People have been looking at clouds for hundreds of years and the general cloud classification is well defined," Foote said. "It's not as if someone discovered a new plant in the Amazon. It's what you've seen every day. There was no atmospheric condition that caused a new kind of cloud to form."

Pretor-Pinney is working with the Royal Meteorological Society in Reading, England, to prepare his case. If that group signs off, the proposal will go to the United Nation's World Meteorological Organization in Geneva.

Society executive director Paul Hardaker said a small panel within the society is gathering evidence to review. Their efforts include talking with those who took the submitted photos to determinine when, where and amid what weather they were taken. Hardaker said meteorologists tend to be skeptical of such proposals.

"We like to believe that just about everything that can be seen has been, but you do get caught once in a while with the odd, new, interesting thing," Hardaker said. "By this stage we think it's sufficiently interesting to explore it further and we're optimistic about the information we've got."

Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt

ONTARIO, Canada (CMC):

Jamaican world record holder Usain Bolt easily won the men's 100 metres at the Festival of Excellence track and field meeting last night.

The 22-year-old Bolt accelerated away from his rivals over the second half of the race and won in 10.00 seconds, chased by the Americans Shawn Crawford (10.26) and Ivory Williams (10.28) at the University of Toronto, Varsity Centre.

It was the first international 100-metre run this season for Bolt, a triple Olympic gold medallist last year, who is targeting the sprint double at the IAAF World Championship in Berlin in August.

On a rainy evening at the 7,000-seater Varsity Stadium, the race was delayed by two false starts, the second resulting in the disqualification of the Jamaican Marvin Anderson.

Run against a minus 0-9 metres per second wind, the event was competitive until the 6-foot-5-inch Bolt got into full stride and pulled clear of Crawford and Williams for an easy win a day after he was named 2008 Laureus Sportsman of the Year.

American Bernard Williams was fourth in 10.47 seconds and Jamaican Mario Forsythe fifth in 10.48.

One-two finish

In the co-main event on the programme, Olympic bronze medallist Priscilla Lopes-Schliep edged 2003 World Champion Perdita Felicien in a Canadian one-two finish in the 100-metre hurdles which was contested in a minus 1.8 mps head-wind.

Lopes-Schliep won in 12.86 seconds ahead of Felicien (12.88) with American Damu Cherry third in 13.01.

Jamaicans Nickeisha Wilson (13.14) and Andrea Bliss (13.45) were fourth and seventh, respectively

American Olympic champion LaShawn Merritt won the men's 400 metres in 44.83 seconds.

Seventh and eighth

Trinidad and Tobago's Ato Stephens was second in 45.34 seconds, followed by Bahamian Andrae Williams (45.72) and Jamaican Sanjay Ayre (45.81).

Other Jamaicans in the race, Jermaine Gonzalez (46.41) and Ricardo Chambers (46.59), were seventh and eighth, respectively.

Jamaican Sonita Sutherland (54.35) was seventh in the women's 400 won by American Shana Cox (51.44), and T&T's Sherridan Kirk (1:49.07) was seventh in the men's 800, won by American Khadevis Robinson (1:45.73).

ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger was last night on the verge of sealing a £10million deal for Ajax star Thomas Vermaelen.

The 21-cap Belgium centre-half, 23, is considered one of the top defenders in the Dutch Eredivisie.

And SunSport understands Gunners chiefs were trying to thrash out a deal with Ajax general manager Rik Van Der Boog.

An Ajax insider said: "It's true. He's a very good player and could certainly be a success at Arsenal."

L.A. Lewis in court

Dancehall enigma, Horace 'L.A. Lewis' Lewis, created a scene in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday when he turned up to answer charges of assault, housebreaking and larceny.

It is alleged that Lewis broke into the house of his former business associate and stole some items. It is further alleged that he physically assaulted the complainant, causing bruises and swellings.

Lewis, dressed sharply in full white, smiled his way through most of the court proceedings. He carried a folder aptly labelled 'police' and a massive bunch of keys, attracting much attention from those in attendance.

Lewis' matter was set for trial on July 9. But that was not the last the court would see of him for the day. A few minutes later, the complainant returned to court, followed shortly by Lewis. The complainant told the court that Lewis tried to kiss her and stood in her way as she left court, demanding that she publish an article stating that they were back together. She said they were never a couple.

RM Pusey instructed the police to take Lewis to the holding area. "Take him to view the holding area cause he is taking this place for a poppy show," she said.

Car-stealing ring cracked

Investigations are now under way by the Adelphi police in St James, who believe they have cracked a major car-stealing ring in their area.

Racing against torrential rains on Wednesday, a police team from the Adelphi station journeyed miles into the remote district of Whyms Road, near Canaan, in search of stolen motor vehicles. This, while sections of the Adelphi police area were under heavy flooding.

intelligence

The team was acting on intelligence, which led them to the find. The operation lasted 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., Sergeant Clevert Foster told The Star yesterday. He is the sub-officer in charge of the Adelphi station.

The operation uncovered what police believe is a major scrapyard where high-end Toyota vehicles, mainly Fielders, and 'sponge bobs' are taken and dismantled for resale purposes.

The police recovered several scrapped body parts stored in what appeared to be an abandoned farmhouse on the property. The items include doors, fenders, bumpers, bonnets, trunk lids, seats, electrical looms, front-end parts, muffler systems, as well as interior parts and accessories.

A barrel packed with car brain boxes (computers) was also found in the one-apartment farm house.

inaccessible

"The area is as rural as can be and most of it is not accessible by vehicular traffic due to its rugged terrain, so we had to move the items by hand to our service vehicles," Sergeant Foster said.

Police theorise that the vehicles were scrapped in the area and the parts taken to the farm house.

"Our investigations indicate that theft and scrapping of these particular motor cars is being done by persons in Trelawny and St James. We believe this operation could be going on for quite some time now," Sergeant Foster said.

No arrest was made.

Fined for loud noise

A man accused of playing loud music appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Devon Chambers pleaded guilty with explanation to the violation of the Noise Abatement Act.

The accused man, who identified himself as a well-known artiste, told the court that he was advertising a party that he is putting on in July. According to Chambers, he is not responsible and has no association with the party or the music played there.

The accused added that on the day in question he went to the deejay who was playing at the party to advertise his own party. The deejay, however, gave him the microphone and told him to do it himself.

Chambers told the court that he took the microphone and started advertising his party when the police came and accosted him.

He was given the option to pay $5,000 or spend 30 days in prison.

Rent issues

A landlord who is having problems collecting rent from his tenant for the last six months is threatening to evict the tenant without a court order. The landlord explained he does not live on the same premises with the tenant and each time he goes there to collect the rent, the tenant locks herself inside the house and hides from him. locks herself in the house "I have not collected a cent from the tenant for the last six months because each time I go to collect the rent, she is never home, or when she is there, as soon as I drive up, she locks herself in the house and does not answer me when I knock," the landlord said. "Neighbours tell me that the tenant is inside the house but because she does not want to pay the rent, she is hiding from me. I don't have the patience and time to take her to court and I am planning to go there one day, take the lock off the door and put her things on the side walk. "I worked very hard to buy my house and pay off for it so I could get some income from my pro-perty. It is really not fair to me to have to be undergoing all this stress from a tenant who is working but has refused to pay me," the landlord said. "I don't know where the tenant is working now because when I call the workplace she had given me when she rented the premises two years ago, I was told she was no longer working there." It is unfair for the tenant to refuse to pay you rent. You will have to first give her a month's notice to leave your premises and, if she refuses, then you can take her to court when the notice expires. You can face criminal charges if you evict her without a court order. If she refuses to answer you when you go to the premises, you can post the notice on the front door and it must state the reason for giving her notice. In your case the reason would be non-payment of rent. Section 31(1) of the Rent Restriction Act states that "no notice given by a landlord to quit any controlled premises shall be valid unless it states the reason for the requirement to quit".

The Ministry of Health (MoH) is urging persons to take the necessary precautions in protecting themselves from the influenza A (H1N1), also known as the swine flu virus, although no new cases has been reported.

The MoH mentioned that its heightened surveillance systems was able to quickly identify two imported cases of the virus in Jamaica. Both cases of the virus were imported to Jamaica by two persons who had travelled to the United States.

facilities are equipped

According to the MoH, all public health facilities are equipped with the items necessary to assist the public. Also all health regions have been placed on high alert.

The MoH is reminding the public to avoid persons with flu-like symptoms, cover their noses and mouths when sneezing or coughing and to wash hands with soap and water frequently.

A 27-year-old manslaughter accused was granted $250,000 bail and a preliminary enquiry date set in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Conditions of the bail offered to Carlington Rowe include him reporting to the Granville Police Station on Tuesdays and Fridays, surrendering travel documents and staying away from the witness and his family.

Rowe, who resides in Retirement, St James, was also warned to tell his friends and family to stay away from the witness following allegations that a relative of his had shot and injured the witness.

The preliminary enquiry is for August 25, and the prosecution was told to get all outstanding documents on file so defence attorney Kenneth McLeod can be served with copies.

The accused was arrested in February, five months after he allegedly hit six-year-old Jevaughn Sutherland. He allegedly fled the scene after the accident and was apprehended in St Mary.

child hit

Allegations are that on September 19, 2008, the child was walking to the shop when Rowe was driving on the roadway, which was wet from rainfall. The child was hit and flew in the air. The father of the child, who knew Rowe, witnessed the accident and called out to the accused, but he did not stop.

Jevaughn was rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Rowe was held at a location in St Mary on February 25, and handed over to the Montego Bay police.

The Area Three Narcotics Police have charged two more persons in connection with a ganja find at Pisgah, in St Elizabeth, last weekend.

Charged with possession, dealing in and using premises for sale and distribution of ganja are Everald Lewis, 51, and Tana-Lee Lewis, 20, both of Pisgah.

The two were charged after being taken in by their attorney to the Black River Police Station. They have been charged jointly with Ester Williams, 43; Lukel Cunningham, 21, Jeneque Lewis, 19, and a 17-year-old student.

house searched

When they appeared in court on Wednesday, the court was told that an operation was conducted in the Pisgah area where a four-bedroom house occupied by the six was searched.

Ganja weighing about eight kilos (16 pounds), along with three kilos (six pounds) of ganja seeds, was found hidden in a room. The police also seized J$215,500, US$820 and £60 suspected to be proceeds from the sale of the drugs.

When they appeared in court, Tana-Lee Lewis, the 17-year-old and Jeneque Lewis were offered $50,000 bail each. Williams and Cunningham were offered $100,000 bail, while Everald Lewis was remanded. They return to the Black River RM Court on June 17.

LONDON, England (AP) - A group of Scotland Yard officers were suspended after "serious allegations" about their behaviour during the arrests of five suspects last year, police said yesterday.

London's police force did not go into detail, but Sky News television, The Daily Mail and The Times of London newspapers reported that six officers were accused of "waterboarding" drug suspects.

The papers gave varying accounts of the exact technique used by police, with the Times saying that officers poured water on a cloth and placed it over a suspect's face to simulate the experience of drowning.
The Daily Mail said police officers repeatedly dunked the suspects' heads in buckets of water. The reason for the discrepancy was not immediately clear.

In an e-mail statement, Scotland Yard said that it was "not appropriate to make assumptions" about what the officers did. While a spokesman for the force refused to comment on the nature of the allegations, the statement acknowledged that they were grave and "do raise real concern."

LAWYER KILLED OVER KING'S TAPES?

June 10, 2009
Started By STUWY776 Comments
Since the discovery of the decomposing body of attorney-at-law Berriston 'Berry' Bryan at his Stony Hill, St Andrew, home on Monday, there have been unconfirmed claims that his demise was linked to the homosexual tapes that belonged to former trade ambassador Peter King.

While the St Andrew North police, who are investigating the matter, say they have not established any link between the lawyer's murder and the tapes, sources are claiming otherwise.

leaked by someone

Information reaching THE STAR is that certain individuals believed that the content of the tapes, which was reported by the media during the murder trial, was leaked by someone, possibly Bryan, who had viewed the tapes.

"They had to shut him up because nobody was sure if or when he would begin to name persons on those tapes," the sources said.

Bryan, who represented Sheldon Pusey, the man sentenced to 15 years for the 2006 murder of King, was among the few non-state individuals who had officially viewed the tapes taken from King's house.

460 videotapes

The viewing of the 460 videotapes by Bryan was done in his preparation for Pusey's defence.

They allegedly depicted persons from all sectors of Jamaican society carrying out homosexual activities. Since word of the tapes got out, there have been widespread speculations about the persons featured on it.

Bryan's body was found with multiple stab wounds and appeared to have been beaten with a blunt instrument.

Sheldon Brown, a 25-year-old constable of the Island Special Constabulary Force (ISCF), has been charged with three counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

Brown appeared in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday shortly after he was charged.

Resident Magistrate Sheron Barnes granted him bail in the sum of $500,000 with sureties. She also ordered that as a condition of his bail, he must not operate a motor vehicle on any public or private road until the determination of his case.

travel documents

Brown is to report to the Four Paths police station in Clarendon every Wednesday, and must surrender his travel documents to the police.

He has been suspended from the force pending the outcome of the case.

overtook line of traffic

It is being alleged that Brown was driving along the Wilton main road in St Elizabeth on January 8 when he overtook a line of traffic and collided into an oncoming vehicle. Two elderly persons in that vehicle died, along with Brown's passenger, who his lawyer Dionne Watson said was his best friend.

Thomas Levine, clerk of the Court, in outlining the allegations, said that the road was smooth, asphalted, dry and without potholes at the point of the accident.

Brown is to return to court on July 17 when the case will be mentioned.

Brown has been a member of the ISCF for one year.

A massive police operation in the St Andrew communities of Park Lane, Hundred Lane and Cassava Piece led to the detaining of 91 men yesterday.

The operation which lasted approximately six hours, began about 3:00 a.m. and was carried out by per-sonnel from the St Andrew North Police, Mobile Reserve, the Joint Task Force, Area 5 Police and the Flying Squad.

During the operation, a number of premises were searched and the men subsequently held, six of whom the police say are major persons of interest wanted in connection with several crimes committed in the communities over the last two months.

All detainees will be processed and interviewed before further action is taken, if necessary.

PREGNANT WOMEN IN 'BITING MATCH'

A pregnant woman accused of biting the finger of another pregnant woman at a clinic had to pay $7,000 for her actions in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Charged with unlawful wounding is Tanisha Miller.

Miller pleaded guilty to the charge but told the court that she was attacked by the complainant. She said she went to the clinic and saw the complainant with the father of both their unborn babies.

hit in the mouth

She said she ignored them and sat elsewhere. She told the court that when she went to the bathroom she was attacked by the complainant who hit her in the mouth.

The complainant had a different story. She said the father of her child was not at the clinic. She said she was ambushed in the bathroom by Miller who grabbed her face, and when she tried to use her hands to push her off, her finger went into Miller's mouth and she bit her.

She said she had to get injections and medication for the injury. Miller was ordered to pay the complainant for her medical expenses.

An Israeli woman who bought her elderly mother a new mattress threw out the old one unaware that it had $1 million hidden inside it.

Israeli newspapers reported today that the woman was left scrabbling through landfill sites in an, as yet, fruitless search for the mattress which contained her mother's life savings.

The woman, identified only as Anat, a resident of Tel Aviv, told Army Radio that she bought the mattress on Monday as a surprise for her mother and got rid of the other one without telling her.

When she realised her mistake she rushed outside to look for the mattress but found it had already been taken by the rubbish collectors. Subsequent searches at three different landfill sites turned up nothing.

The Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot published a picture of the woman searching through refuse at a dump in southern Israel.

Yitzhak Borba, the dump manager, told the radio station that his staff was helping the woman, saying she appeared totally desperate, but the mattress was hard to find among the 2,500 tonnes of rubbish arriving at the site every day.

Mr Borba said that he increased security at the site to keep would-be treasure hunters at bay. For her part, Anat is displaying an admirable stoicism. People have to take everything in proportion and thank God for the good and the bad, she said.

'Fancy Foot' killed at his gate

The Denham Town police is today trying to ascertain a motive for the killing of a 30-year-old man from Sir William Grant Parkway in Jungle, St Andrew, after finding documents in his house that suggests he was an illegal cash pot vendor.

Reports reaching THE STAR are that the man, Tweedy Winston Anthony Alves, otherwise called 'Fancy Foot', was fatally shot about 6 a.m. yesterday morning at his gate in the community.

An investigating officer said that cash pot-related documents were found during a search of the deceased's house, which the police are following as possible leads to establish a motive for the murder.

"We don't know it if was a robbery or a fatal dispute over the paying out of cash that may have been won but we are not ruling out anything, the investigation is in early stages," the officer said.

Three new cases of the deadly Influenza A (H1N1) virus, popularly called swine flu, were found in the island earlier this week. These cases were discovered in the parishes of St Mary and St James, bringing to 10 the number of instances in the country.

In a release from the ministry of health, it was stated that the new cases were identified on Tuesday. Like the previous instances mentioned by the ministry, the three persons, two of whom are from St Mary, had travelled to New York in the United States.

The ministry said its health team has already interviewed, examined and taken samples from immediate contacts, and has sent those samples to the laboratory for testing. No deaths have been recorded from the 10 cases of the virus present in the island.

Persons are being reminded to contact their doctor, nearest health centre or hospital if they have flu-like symptoms, take the medication recommended by their health care provider, and remain at home, as advised by the public health teams.

After two years of divorce rumors, R&B singer Usher Raymond and his wife Tameka Foster-Raymond, are calling it quits. According to reports, the singer filed divorce papers this morning in Atlanta and moved out of their Atlanta home several weeks ago.

A source close to the family confirmed the split. "Usher's primary concern is for his children," said the source of their two son, 17-month old Usher Raymond V, and 6-month old Naviyd Eli. "He is a great father and just wants to do what is right for them."

Last week Usher, 30, was spotted with a mystery woman while on a trip to Los Angeles. It was later revealed that the woman is a project manager for Def Jam Records. The Grammy winner was also snapped without his wedding ring, fueling rumors of an impending split.

No, but then again. I have always been on the lucky side, to find the ones that are just right. I dont like them too big.

OutAroad.com:
Do you believe in using sex toys, if your man is not around?

Tifa:
But of course! Usually for me a man is not around. I have been basically single for the past 3 years. So instead of adding up numbers, why not? Besides, most men cant vibrate.

OutAroad.com:
During sex do you like it when your man is in control or do you prefer to be in charge?

Tifa:
It depends. I love it when a man knows his stuff and can take control and make me feel like as if I am in one of those romance novels, or one of them real black porno movies. But sometimes I like to move in for the kill, and take risks. It makes for a healthy sex life, especially when you are in a long term relationship. You cant rely on the man to do everything.

Alliance star Serani's bonafide hit "No Games" has landed at the #1 spot on America's reggae iTunes Chart for the first time, knocking Bob Marley's timeless classic "Three Little Birds" off the top spot. Having been selling thousands of downloads and ringtones for months, No Games has been flirting with the #1 spot for sometime, but now replaces Bob Marley's anthem, that sells an average of 5,500 a week in downloads on iTunes.

"No Games is actually still gaining in spins across the country," said Serani's manager. "This record just won't go away. Its still getting added to playlists in many states across the country every week so it continues to spread."

Serani recently recorded a remix for No Games with songstress Shontelle, while on tour in the UK. Shontelle scored big in the UK with her recent hit "T-Shirt" and being label mates Universal Music made the match and hooked up the two artists. Universal/Island Records will release the No Games + remix package digitally on July 6th.

"Shontelle was great to work with," said Serani. "She's a very talented songwriter and she has a great personality so the chemistry was good in the studio. The remix is

CAIRO An 8-year-old Saudi girl has divorced her middle-aged husband after her father forced her to marry him last year in exchange for about $13,000, her lawyer said Thursday. Saudi Arabia has come under increasing criticism at home and abroad for permitting child marriages. The United States, a close ally of the conservative Muslim kingdom, has called child marriage a "clear and unacceptable" violation of human rights. The girl was allowed to divorce the 50-year-old man who she married in August after an out-of-court settlement had been reached in the case, said her lawyer, Abdulla al-Jeteli. The exact date of the divorce was not immediately known. A court in the central Oneiza region previously rejected a request by the girl's mother for a divorce and ruled that the girl would have to wait until she reached puberty to file a petition then. There are no laws in Saudi Arabia defining the minimum age for marriage. Though a woman's consent is legally required, some marriage officials don't seek it. But there has been a push by Saudi human rights groups to define the age of marriage and put an end to the phenomenon. One Saudi human rights activist Sohaila Zain al-Abdeen was optimistic that the girl's divorce would help efforts to get a law passed enforcing a minimum marriage age of 18. "Unfortunately, some fathers trade their daughters," she told The Associated Press. "They are weak people who are sometimes in need of money and forget their roles as parents." It was not clear if the man received money for the divorce settlement. The man had given the girl's father 50,000 riyals, or about $13,350, as a marriage gift in return for his daughter, the lawyer said. The 8-year-old girl's marriage was not the only one in the kingdom to receive attention in recent months. Saudi newspapers have highlighted several cases in which young girls were married off to much older men or young boys including a 15-year-old girl whose father, a death-row inmate, married her off to a cell mate. Saudi Arabia's conservative Muslim clergy have opposed the drive to end child marriages. In January, the kingdom's most senior cleric said it was permissible for 10-year-old girls to marry and those who believe they are too young are doing the girls an injustice. But some in the government appear to support the movement to set a minimum age for marriage. The kingdom's new justice minister was quoted in mid-April as saying the government was doing a study on underage marriage that would include regulations. There are no statistics to show how many marriages involving children are performed in Saudi Arabia every year. Activists say the girls are given away in return for hefty marriage gifts or as a result of long-standing custom in which a father promises his infant daughters and sons to cousins out of a belief that marriage will protect them from illicit relationships.

HILLSBORO, Oregon (AP) - Korena Roberts sifted through her neighbour's rummage sale until she pulled out an item that caught her eye: a blue stroller decorated with teddy bears.

Her neighbour, Wendy Pursinger, asked why she needed it. Roberts' two children had long outgrown being pushed in a baby carriage.

"I'm pregnant, of course," Roberts told Pursinger.
Police now say Roberts' pregnancy story was likely false, a cover story, and that the 27-year-old cut open her pregnant friend's abdomen to take her baby and pass it off as her own. The body of Heather Snively, 21, was found Friday in a crawl space of Roberts' suburban Hillsboro home. The infant also died.

Roberts was charged with murder in Snively's death, and was under a suicide watch yesterday at the Washington County jail in Hillsboro. She has not yet entered a plea. If convicted, she faces life in prison without parole.

The grand jury has a Monday deadline to indict Roberts.
Authorities had not determined whether the infant was alive when he was removed - a distinction that could mean the difference between holding Roberts responsible for his death or not.

Robert's story was inconsistent: Sometimes she told people she was pregnant with one baby. Other times it was twins. She even put a crib together on her front lawn and placed an ad on Craigslist looking for baby clothes.

Transsexual suffers miscarriage

MADRID, Spain (AFP) - A Spanish transsexual who was pregnant with twins has suffered a miscarriage, a Spanish newspaper said yesterday.

But 25-year-old Ruben Noe Coronado, who was born a woman named Estefania and still has female sex organs, said he plans to try again, El Mundo said on its website.

After doctors told his female partner she could not have any more children, Coronado interrupted his sex-change procedure in order to get pregnant through artificial insemination.

And in March he announced he was expecting twin boys in September.

"I started having a few problems this week," El Mundo quoted him as saying yesterday. "There were days when my belly was a little low and I was surprised. I went to the doctor and I had to undergo a surgical scrapping."

Coronado had planned to complete the sex-change procedure after the birth of the twins, but is now forced to wait while he tries again to get pregnant.

A law that went into effect last year allows Spaniards suffering from "a sexual identity problem" and undergoing hormonal or endocrinal treatment to change their sexual status without undergoing surgery or a sex change.  lc

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) - A Roman Catholic priest who won fame running an Argentine foundation for poor youths was convicted yesterday of sexually molesting a boy who participated in the programme. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

A three-judge panel found Father Julio Gra**i guilty of one count of sexual abuse and one count of corrupting a minor. He was acquitted of 15 other charges alleging abuse of two other boys at his "Happy the Children" Foundation. All the alleged crimes occurred in 1996.

Gra**i, 52, continued to proclaim his innocence, saying he was "the victim of an injustice."

"I feel shamed by justice, not by me," he said after the verdict.

Gra**i became widely known in Argentina after starting the "Happy the Children" Foundation in 1993, opening several homes for poor children and doing other charitable work.

Through television appearances and other appeals, the priest raised millions of dollars (euros), many of the donations coming from important public figures who distanced themselves from the priest after the allegations.

A lawyer for one of the alleged victims said it was good that Gra**i was sentenced, but he criticised the priest's acquittal on most of the charges.

"We are going to appeal the verdict because there are facts that have not been considered," attorney Juan Pablo Gallego said.

"My father was killed a week before my exams, but I did not know," reflected 11-year-old student Demoy Kerr from Montego Bay, who was placed at Cornwall College following his success in the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT).

Kerr, who attends the Barracks Road Primary School, yesterday remembered how his father's death was, in his best interest, kept a secret from him until after the examinations.

"My father worked in Virginia in the United States of America where he got a promotion," Kerr told The Gleaner on a visit to his school.

"But another employee did not like the fact that he was promoted and so my father and his boss (who promoted him) were shot and killed by this employee, who is now on the run."

The murder occurred on March 21, almost a week before GSAT. It was not until the exams were finished that the news of his father's death was revealed.

"I remembered my mother taking me to church after the exams but I didn't think it was strange for her to do that, but when I got there she took my to the pastor who, in the presence of mother, told me a story and then told me that my father was killed."

Kerr said he was shocked, saddened and speechless on hearing the news, which meant his father would not be able to share in the moment of his son's GSAT success.

It has now been more than two months since the incident occurred, and he says he cries and feels sad at times when he remembers his father.

PEORIA, Illinois (Reuters Life!) - A 13-year-old boy who police say was caught red-handed a block away was accused on Tuesday of robbing a bank in Peoria.

The unidentified boy was charged with felony armed robbery in juvenile court, accused of threatening a teller with a gun and demanding cash.

He was found hiding in a nearby garage about 30 minutes after Monday's robbery, stained red from a dye pack that had been placed in the bag of money.

"It's the youngest person I can remember," said Sheriff Michael McCoy, a four-decade veteran of the sheriff's office.

Prosecutors were considering whether to seek to have him tried as an adult and face up to 30 years in prison.

Kirsten Dunst Returning For 'Spider-Man 4,' Villain To Be Chosen Soon

by Access Hollywood pseudoblog_whitedot.gif June 8, 2009

Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire NEW YORK, New York -- Kirsten Dunst will return as Mary Jane Watson, "Spider-Man 4" producer Todd Black told the New York Post.

The star will rejoin director Sam Raimi and star Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker's love interest in the latest installment in the popular superhero franchise, which is slated for May 6, 2011.

However, don't expect wedding bells for Mary Jane and Peter - Black told the newspaper that he was unaware of such a subplot. At the close of "Spider-Man 3," the two had an emotional - but ambiguous - reunion after the film's events drove the lovers apart.

Additionally, Black hinted at the film's villain, shooting down online rumors that pegged comic book character Morbius the Living Vampire as the latest member of Spidey's rogue gallery.

Instead, the producer told the Post that the villain had a significant connection to the Big Apple.

"We're just coming up with who the villain is now," he said. "We'll be shooting in New York again. Trust me, people will appreciate who we pick, because it'll be a big part of New York."

In past films, Spider-Man has faced off with the Green Goblin, Dr. Octopus, Venom and Sandman, leaving a number of famous villains who could make their silver screen debut in "Spider-Man 4."

Among the popular options are Kraven the Hunter, Chameleon, the Hobgoblin, Mysterio, Venom offspring Carnage and the Lizard, whose human alter-ego, Dr. Curt Connors, had a role in the previous two movies.

Another potential foe could be New York crime boss the Kingpin - however, the character appeared in 20th Century Fox's "Daredevil" and would likely require a rights acquisition by Sony Pictures.

But the crime lord would give the film a New York connection - and would also be Access Hollywood film critic Scott Mantz's top choice.

"The Kingpin is grounded in reality, and that's the appeal of Spider-Man," Mantz said, adding another suggestion to the mix - femme fatale the Black Cat. "I'd like to see the Kingpin and the Black Cat, to stir the pot with Peter's relationship with Mary Jane."

Nigeria's anti-narcotics agency confiscated 6.5 tonnes of marijuana on Tuesday - from the home of a man who claimed he was 114 years old.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said it had found 254 sacks of cannabis at the home of Sulaiman Adebayo in Ogun state, north of the commercial capital Lagos.

'The quantity of drugs suggests a large scale involvement ... There is more to the case than Pa Sulaiman,' NDLEA chairman Ahmadu Giade said in a statement.

Adebayo, who said he had been a farmer all his life, told police he thought the sacks contained rice.

Marijuana is grown illegally on large-scale farms in many parts of Nigeria and is smuggled across its porous borders to neighbouring countries.

The agency said Adebayo claimed to have attended the inauguration of a famous hall in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state, in 1895 as a small boy, and said he was 114 years old.

There was no independent confirmation of his age.

Daddy Knowles is up to his tricks again. As Mathew is determined to destroy Letoya Lucketts career, hes now rumored to have gone to the BET execs and demanded that Letoya Luckett be taken out of the show in order for Bey to perform:

Word on the street isMathew Knowles is threatening to pull Beyonce from the lineup of performers if BET allows Letoya Luckett to perform at the awards in ANY capacity. Letoyas management is fighting very hard to make her performance concrete, but who do you think the execs will side with..Letoya or Bey? The chicks at a slight deficit here.

Bossip will be at the awards to witness all the drama as it unfolds. Dammit if this man isnt determined to step on the head of any human to ensure that Bey is in the spotlight.

Usher & Tameka

Bossip just caught word that Ush & Tamekas marriage might be crumbling as we speak. The project manager chick, Grace Miguel, that Usher was seen with last week, is married and wants no parts of the drama:

Egyptsaidso states: Over the weekend, Usher was seen bringing a woman out of his Los Angeles hotel room at one oclock in the morning. Ushers people claim that it was just a business meeting and the woman was just Ushers product manager. According to sources the woman in question is a 42 year old Def Jam executive named Grace Miguel who is married to video production company owner, Lou Miguel of Box Fresh Films. Thats odd because Ushers label is Arista, not Def Jam. So was he creeping on Tameka or planning to bounce from his label??? Insiders say that they are officially over and that Usher plans to file for separation in the coming days.

Magnus Mullings, 23, who is charged with the murder of his brother, was remanded to return to court on June 29.

Farmer Greg was shot dead at his pig farm in Portmore, St Catherine, on May 29.

Prime Minister Bruce Golding later singled him out and he was granted land to relocate and expand.

A Kabbalah pal of Madonna's has come forward with shocking allegations that the Material Girl and Yankee slammer A-Rod took their emotional affair a step further -- and he's claiming he has a tape to prove it!

According to X17online.com, Madge's pal supposedly offered up his apartment to the "4 Minutes" singer so she could meet up with Rodriguez for afternoon trysts. The offer to let Madonna meet up with A-Rod at his pad came only after the "friend" set up a hidden camera in his living room, pointed at the sofa where, he claims, things got hot and heavy between Madge and Alex.

As the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) results are released to schools today, the Ministry of Education has reminded parents and guardians that transfers for students are not normally accommodated.

However, the education ministry said in a release yesterday that where parents or guardians have genuine reasons, such as relocation from one area of the country to another, they can ask for transfers, but they are not to approach the ministry as a first step in requesting one.

Approach schools

The ministry noted that parents or guardians who want to move their children from schools to which they were assigned are to approach the school they want their child to attend, and seek the institution's acceptance.

The education ministry said if the child can be accommodated, the parents or guardians are to get an acceptance letter from the principal. They are then to get a release letter from the school at which the child was placed.

The parents or guardians should then send a copy of the acceptance letter, a copy of the release letter and a copy of a letter of request asking for approval of the transfer to the senior education officer, secondary, in the regional office. A letter of approval will then be sent by the Ministry of Education to the parents or guardians and copied to the accepting and releasing schools.

Its common knowledge that celebrities often change their names because they want a more memorable moniker or a name that will look great on a marquee (or movie poster, these days). But why did they pick the names they would be known by for the rest of their lives?

lucy

1. Joan Crawfords real name was Lucille LeSueur.
Louis B. Mayer had her change her name because he thought the latter half of it sounded too much like Le Sewer. Instead of letting her choose her own name, MGM publicity head held a contest in Movie Weekly that allowed fans to give her a new name. Lucille hated Joan Crawford, thinking that Crawford sounded too much like crawfish.

2. Cyd Charisse started life as Tula Elice Finklea. Despite the less-than-glam name, studio execs didnt exactly have to rename Cyd because Sid was her childhood nickname. It came about when one of her younger siblings was trying to pronounce Sis and it came out Sid instead. MGM changed the spelling to Cyd just to make her seem more exotic and mysterious. As for her last name, she came by that the usual way too: she married Nico Charisse and took his last name.

3. Jamie Foxx was born Eric Marlon Bishop. He changed his name when he started doing standup because he found that female comics often got to perform first he thought Jamie was ambiguous enough that they wouldnt know if he was male or female and would at least put him mid-list somewhere. Foxx was in tribute to Redd Foxx, who also picked his own name

4. Redd Foxx, AKA John Elroy Sanford (yup), got his first name because of the reddish tone in his hair. In fact, he was friends with Malcolm X, who used to call him Chicago Red. When Redd started working in the entertainment business, he chose his new last name because of MLB power hitter Jimmie Foxx.

gaga

5. Lady Gaga was known by a considerably longer name just a few years ago: Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta.
When music producer Rob Fusari was helping her develop an album, Queens 1984 song Radio Ga-Ga came on the radio. He immediately made a connection between their old hit and her new sound, saying, You are so Radio Gaga. Thus, Lady Gaga was born.

6. Judy Garland was also born with a decidedly unglamorous name: Frances Ethel Gumm. She and her siblings used to do vaudeville shows together as The Gumm Sisters, but the audience would laugh every time their name was announced. Vaudeville veteran George Jessel eventually suggested that they change their names for that very reason, and Frances chose Judy based on a Hoagy Carmichael song. How the surname came about is really unknown at least four versions of why it was chosen exist. One is that it came from Carole L****ards character Lily Garland in the movie Twentieth Century. Another is that George Jessel once declared the sisterly trio was prettier than a garland of flowers. And still another is that they chose it to flatter drama critic Robert Garland. So, take your pick. I like the garland of flowers story, myself.

7. Nina Simone used to be Eunice Kathleen Waymon, which doesnt exactly roll off the tongue, does it? When she started playing at the Midtown Bar & Grill in Atlantic City, she started going by the name we know her as today. The Nina was adapted from the Spanish niña, meaning little girl, because its what an old boyfriend used to call her. Simone was for French actress Simone Signoret.

8. Stevie Wonders real name was Steveland Morris, but because of his insane talent, people started calling him the little boy wonder when he first showed up on the Motown scene at the age of 10. Berry Gordy, Jr. capitalized on this and named him Little Stevie Wonder for his first Motown contract.

dita
9. Dita Von Teese was born Heather Renee Sweet, which also sounds like a totally made up name. She took Dita from German actress Dita Parlo and wanted to just do a one-name kind of a thing, but when she landed the cover of Playboy, the execs at the magazine insisted that she use a last name. Not wanting to be Dita Sweet, she randomly picked a name out of the phonebook. It was Von Treese. Playboy typoed it, and she ended up liking that version even better.

10. Nikki Sixx has a not-very rockstar name: Frank Carlton Serafino Ferrana, Jr. When he first started touring with a band, he called himself Nikki London because the band he was in was called London, but eventually he decided that was maybe not the best idea. He was considering new last names when he stumbled across his then-girlfriends scrapbook; she had documented a time when she dated a musician from a band called Jon and the Nightriders. The musicians name was Niki Syxx. I stole his name, Nikki admits. I just liked it.

Reports have been running wild in Trinidad since last week that a Jamaican hit man was brought there to assassinate a senior police officer, known for his tough stance on crime.

According to one newspaper in Trinidad, the hit man was hired "to assassinate head of the North Eastern Divisional Task Force Sergeant Roger Alexander" and that the thug "has been hiding out somewhere in Laventille Road". Reports say detectives have since been c****ing the island for the man.

divulging information

On Monday, a corporal at the North Eastern Division Police Station said they would not be divulging any information on the telephone. He confirmed, however, that the police have heard about the Jamaican hit man. Attempts to speak with Sergeant Alexander were unsuccessful as THE STAR was told he would not be in office.

A representative at the Jamaican High Commission in Trinidad told THE STAR that he has seen the report in the media but it would first have to be substantiated before a comment could be made.

Head of communication for the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), Karl Angell, said that the matter would be looked into and an update provided.

Reports say the assassination plot was unearthed after the Morvant Police Station in Trinidad "was flooded with calls regarding the Jamaican national".

It is alleged that that callers told police that a "hefty" price had been put on Alexander's head and also described the would-be killer.
