Mavado's Birthday Bash is back on for this Saturday night, having changed location from Temple Hall Estate to the Building (formerly the Asylum) in New Kingston.

After discovering this week that the police have not granted a permit for the event to be kept at Temple Hall Estate, St. Andrew, Mavado's manager, Julian Jones-Griffith, confirmed to THE STAR yesterday that the party is still on.

Despite meetings between the police and Mavado's team, a permit was still not granted. According to Jones-Griffith no permit is needed for the event to be held at the Building, acknowledging, however, that the party will be a more 'scaled down' event.

Last night Mavado was on 'The Entertainment Buzz' on Irie FM talking about the party, saying, "well yuh done know the party was suppose to be held at the Temple Hall Estate, we had we little entertainment license, everything put together di way it suppose to be. Tuesday we hear sey party not keeping we can't get no permit."

According to Mavado, one of the main reasons given by the police for not granting a permit was due to Gully/Gaza concerns.

However, Mavado on the programme, said that he did not see Gully/Gaza concerns as being a main reason as the two factors are not at war. He also acknowledged that he lost money from the change of venue and the plans that were made for it.

He said, "yeah, well yuh know the party suppose to be a huge party, The Building could not hold a quarter of the crowd but if we have no other alternative we have to go to The Building. Fans have to come early enough to get inside." He also wanted to let his fans know that he was not to be blamed for the circumstances resulting in the change of venue.

This year Mavado celebrated his birthday with parties held in various cities locally and overseas. The event at Temple Hall was to include performances from American R&B singer Bobby Valentino, however, Jones-Griffith could not guarantee that he would still be attending. According to Jones-Griffith there will be performances from Mavado and friends.

Time magazine has an interesting article on Ms. Uchitel. The 34-year-old nightclub promoter is reportedly "aggressive" when it comes to meeting celebrities (her mom claims she once dated Derek Jeter and A-Rod). However, in an exclusive interview with the New York Post, Uchitel has denied the allegations of a romance with Woods, even going so far as to offer to take a lie detector test. Although General B is willing to clash with KipRich at Sting this year, Kiprich said he would not entertain the idea.

When asked if he would face-off with General B, KipRich said, "Definitely not! Why would I do that again? Dat nuh mek no sense at all. Dat happen two time already. Weh mi a go wid this again? It boring now."

He added: "Di man need fi go build him career and stop follow up my own. Mi nuh have time fi siddung and a mek song 'bout General B, a idle business dat."

At Sting last December, KipRich delivered a lyrical assault at General B, Roundhead and Ghost, all from Monster Hemp Higher. The group got the same treatment again at Follow Di Arrow in February. Since then, General B has been itching to face-off with KipRich alone and said he would do it at this year's Sting if the money is right.

"Mi and (Isaiah) Laing (Sting promoter) a talk and him a seh him waan wi clash. As long as the money right, mi good wid it. Is not like mi well waan clash nobody," General B told THE STAR.

On this occasion, he said a clash between himself and KipRich would be much fairer than the previous two occasions.

However, KipRich, who isn't booked for Sting as yet, said this would make absolutely no difference.

It wasnt exactly the perfect crime.

Sure, Christopher Walker managed to get away with robbing a security guard of £25,000.

But police didnt exactly have to turn the town upside down to find him: his hideaway was his home.

Walker, 19, was seen running into his property opposite the bank after attacking the guard with a stick outside Lloyds bank in Birminghams Lea Village.

The court heard it was an incompetent spur-of-the-moment robbery. Walker, of Birmingham, was jailed for two-and-a-half years after admitting robbery on October 22.

What makes this so serious is the significant amount of money involved, the use of a disguise and the use of a weapon to hit a security guard who is entitled to go about his work without fear of attack, judge Sylvia de Bertodano told him. But she added: I accept you are sorry and that it was not planned.

Birmingham Crown Court was told Walker was caught by police within minutes because he was seen running into his home after attacking the cash-in-transit security guard with a stick. He had just been made redundant from his job as a council g**** cutter and was short of cash.

All of the cash was recovered from the loft space of Walkers next-door neighbour a house that he had a key for.

Raglan Ashton, defending, said: Although serious, this robbery was somewhat incompetent. He is appalled by his actions and he has shown genuine remorse.

He did not come armed with a weapon, he picked up a stick. He was not working and he simply had no money.

Speaking with THE WEEKEND STAR yesterday, Dr Japheth Ford, chairman of the National Action Coalition that is putting on the event, said he hopes the celebration will open the Christmas season in peace and harmony.

"If the two of them (Mavado and Vybz Kartel) take that step forward, we will have the beginning of them coming together," Ford said, while noting that he hopes the event will put the feud into perspective. "We can't allow the Gully-Gaza feud to derail the country."

Already, Mavado has been contracted to perform at the event. However, Vybz Kartel, who is from Portmore, has only been invited to attend. But Ford said he did not speak with him directly but with his publicist Claude Mills, who confirmed his attendance.

If Vybz Kartel does not show up at the event, Ford said, he would like to stage another celebration to get them together.

"If he doesn't show, we will have another event and invite him to Gully territory," he said.

Ford also said that the police and some political representatives will be in attendance.

After the event, he said further talks are expected between both artistes.

The imposter has for some time been telling people that he is Coke's son and, in many instances, has demanded cash from them in the strongman's name.

After befriending handlers of the athlete, he had someone call them claiming to be Dudus and demanded thousands of United States dollars. The money, he claimed, was to be used to host treats for children in several communities. When his demands were not met, he sent an angry text message threatening the athlete.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that reports were made to the police by the athlete's handlers but THE STAR was unable to determine exactly where the report was lodged.

Since then, he has been banned from visiting several nightclubs in the Corporate Area.

KINGSTON, Jamaica Even now, about three years after a near-fatal gay bashing, Sherman gets jittery at dusk. On bad days, his *lo** quickens, his eyes dart, and he seeks refuge indoors.

A group of men kicked him and slashed him with knives for being a " boy" a slang term for gay men after he left a party before dawn in October 2006. They sliced his throat, torso, and back, hissed anti-gay epithets, and left him for dead on a Kingston corner.

"It gets like five, six o'clock, my heart begins to race. I just need to go home, I start to get nervous," said the 36-year-old outside the secret office of Jamaica's sole gay rights group. Like many other gays, Sherman won't give his full name for fear of retribution.

Despite the easygoing image propagated by tourist boards, gays and their advocates agree that Jamaica is by far the most hostile island toward homosexuals in the already conservative Caribbean. They say gays, especially those in poor communities, suffer frequent abuse. But they have little recourse because of rampant anti-gay stigma and a sodomy law banning sex between men in Jamaica and 10 other former British colonies in the Caribbean.

A Former Witch Looks At

The Lord Of The Rings

 

Something very strange is going on in the United States, and the spirits that are hard at work are now bringing forth a power that is designed to captivate the entire world. Shortly after the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City fell to the ground and drastically changed our nation forever, a new series of movies began to draw millions of people to the movie theaters. Standing above and apart from the many fantasy movies and books is a trilogy or series of three called The Lord Of The Rings. This series was written by the late J.R.R. Tolkien and was first published in book form in the early 1950s. During the rock music revolution of the 1960s, The Lord of the Rings trilogy caught on, and over 100 million of these books were sold. These books greatly fueled the spiritual revolution and opened the door for witchcraft to seize upon our world. All of this is being done to prepare the way for a new world order in a new Aquarian age. 

I was once a witch and was very much a part of the world that J.R.R. Tolkien reveals in his Lord of the Rings trilogy. In the 1960s, I practiced astrology, palmistry, and numerology among other devices of the craft. I was graciously and mercifully saved out of witchcraft by the Lord Jesus, and I am now spending my life in a mission of exposing occultism and its forces of darkness. I am thus writing this message with a great urgency, for I can spot witchcraft in a moment, and I recognize it well. I can see that the deceptive cloud of witchcraft has descended upon our nation. Even many Christians are being pulled into the forbidden realm of the occult, because they are so ignorant of Satans devices. 

Before I reveal the dangers of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and expose it as real witchcraft, I will reveal some things regarding the beliefs and doctrines of witchcraft. First of all, witches and Satanists are not the same thing. Witches do not believe in Satan. The first thing a neophyte or beginner witch is taught is that there is a force. The force has two sides and can be controlled by magic spells, words, potions, incantations, rope magic, rings, amulets, and so on. Witches believe that there is good witchcraft and bad witchcraft, and the good always triumphs over evil! Witches also teach that battles are fought in the Middle Earth and in the astral plane causing upheavals both above and below. Thus, witches emphasize that good must triumph over evil, but it is all witchcraft. 

I am always amazed when I hear ministries such as Chuck Colson, Focus on the Family, and the Assemblies of God defend such works as Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, and The Narnia Chronicles. I am amazed because they say the same things that initiated coven witches are saying, which is that good triumphs over evil! It is all witchcraft, and the good that these professing Christians are defending is witchcraft as forbidden in Deuteronomy 18:9-14. As a former witch, I was horrified and outraged to find that Focus on the Family was promoting a book as announced in the December 2001 issue of their magazine. The book being promoted is titled, Finding God in the Lord of the Rings. The asking price was 13 dollars. (The number 13 is the coven number in the occult.) Thus, these so-called Christian ministries are making witches their evangelists and using witchcraft materials in their Sunday Schools. Soon they will find their children are in the craft as good little Christian witches. 

The Lord of the Rings trilogy was the work of John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, who did his writing during the midnight hours. He worked for 12 years and released his story in the 13th year. Tolkien became known as the Master of the Middle Earth. This was a land inhabited by hobbits, elves, mortal men, wizards, dwarves and orcs or grotesque goblins. The hero of the story is a hobbit or halfling only 3 ½ feet tall named Frodo Baggins. Frodo has pointed ears and furry feet and carries a cursed object with him. The cursed object is a golden ring invested with terrible powers that must be destroyed by casting it into a fiery abyss at a great distance. If Frodo would fail, the ring would fall into the hands of an evil wizard called Sauron, and the entire world would pass into eternal darkness under the dark lord. Saurons world is a land of shadows called Mordor. The ring has an inscription on which is written a message in the witchcraft language of runes. We must remember that these runes are real and are used in the occult. As I now reveal the meaning of the runes, please bear in mind that President George W. Bush wears an exact replica of this ring. I have an enlarged picture to prove it. The runes on the ring are interpreted as follows: One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, one ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them. 

J.R.R. Tolkien was born in South Africa where his father, Arthur, managed a bank. When his father died, his mother, Mabel, returned with her children to Birmingham, England, where she converted to Roman Catholicism. J.R.R. Tolkien said, I desired dragons with a profound desire. He soon became a prodigy and was speaking German, French, Latin, and flawless classical Greek. In speech, he would sometimes break out in Gothic, an ancient form of German. He would also speak medieval Welsh and Anglo-Saxon. Tolkien even developed new languages. One of them he called Elvish. He went on to say that the entire story of The Lord of the Rings came to him as a result of the new language that he invented. He was a professor at Oxford University as all of this was happening and as the story of elves, wizards, trolls, and hobbits poured into his mind. While it became a manuscript under his pen, he said, My work has escaped from my control, I have produced a monster. 

Tolkien, the devout Catholic and Master of Middle Earth, converted his colleague C.S. Lewis and spent much time with him at the Oxford pub or tavern. They claimed to have kindred spirits. 

There is much rank blasphemy in Tolkiens works, such as the death and resurrection of the wizard Gandalf, who falls into the pit and descends into hell but comes back transformed and stronger than ever. Deceived Christians say that this good wizard is a type of Christ! Tolkien even translated the Lords Prayer into the Elvish language. 

I can say most assuredly that The Lord of the Rings trilogy comes from the pits of hell and is a clever instructional course in witchcraft disguised as fantasy and entertainment. Part one was released in movie form on December 19, 2001, shortly after the two towers of the World Trade Center came down. It was called The Fellowship of the Ring. Part two was called The Two Towers and was released December 18, 2002. Part three is named The Return of the King and was released December 17, 2003, and is breaking all records for ticket sales. All three movies were released at the time of the witchcraft sabat of Yule! 

It is my prayer as a preacher of the true Gospel that Christians will come fully awake. We do not find the saving Gospel in the Middle Earth with wizards, hobbits, and elves. We find the Gospel only in the Bible and through the *lo** of our Saviour Jesus.

Rachel Uchitel became a major story on Wednesday, when rumors that the 34-year-old was having an affair with Tiger Woods began to circulate. The rumors have picked up steam after the circumstances surrounding Woods' car accident raised more questions than they answered.

Uchitel continues to deny the affair. She told the New York Post that the rumors are "completely untrue."

Then along came Usain Bolt.

Eighty years after the world first applauded a 9.5 100 the figures now stand next to the 100m World record, not the 100 yards World record clocked by Americas Eddie Tolan in 1929. Tolan was the first person to run 9.5 for the 100 yards - but then he only had to cover 91.44 metres.

Bolts 9.58 for 100 metres here improved the World record by the biggest margin in history and made Tyson Gays United States record of 9.71 for silver seem trivial by comparison. As for Asafa Powells bronze in 9.84, it was little more than a reminder of an age gone by of Donovan Baileys World record mark to win the Olympic title 13-years-ago. 

New sprinting etiquette and diet

As different as Bolt is physically to the bespectacled 5ft 6in Tolan the Jamaican is 6ft 5in so has he rewritten the book of sprinting etiquette. It used to be characterised by snarling and sniping between the main protagonists think back to Carl Lewis versus Ben Johnson or Linford Christie, or to Michael Johnson versus Maurice Greene but the latest fastest man in history has ushered in a spirit of camaraderie.

But not only is Bolt a gentleman towards his closest rivals he offered defending champion Tyson Gay a handshake on the warm-up track before the Final and a warm appraisal of his talent afterwards he is also a stage artist and a challenger to received wisdom.

Take his lunch. Last year on the very same day (16 August) before breaking the 100m World record for the second time with 9.69, Bolt sent a packed medallists press conference into howls of laughter when he revealed that he had eaten chicken nuggets for lunch. Despite claims that he had improved his diet, lunch yesterday was no different.

Asafa said there was no nuggets here but I actually found a McDonalds and I had a lot of nuggets for lunch, Bolt said without a hint of shame. In fact he seemed rather pleased with himself, chuckling as he added: So thats good.

And the stage artist? With Bolts spirit of camaraderie rubbing-off on others, Gay had acknowledged on the eve of the championships that the Jamaican was very funny and has a lot of personality. And once again Bolt brought his full personality to the track, playing to the crowd even before he lined up for a race watched by millions in expectation of him breaking the World record. Pressure? What pressure?

Bolt clowned around, putting a silencing finger to his lips when the spectators began to whistle at the disqualification of Britains Tyrone Edgar in their semi-final. And, when he was introduced as they lined up for the Final, he adopted his trademark stance of aiming an invisible bow and arrow towards the sky. Gay, by contrast, just waved.

First false start

The Olympic and new World champion even revealed that he had registered the first false start in his semi-final leading to Edgars disqualification for a second false start because he was messing around.

That was just me and my team-mate Daniel Bailey....we were really just having fun, Bolt said. I was telling him I was going to beat him out the blocks because in training he always beats me out the blocks. I guess I got a little bit too excited and thats when I false started.

How does Bolt do it? How does he stay so cool in the heat of the kitchen? I train all year round to run the 100m, so I know what Ive got to do so when I go in the blocks, he explained. I know what is necessary. I can have all the fun I want before the race but when the starter says on your marks I just refocus and then it is time to go.

Such has been the profile, and legend in the making, of Bolt in the 12 months since Beijing that, had you asked the man on the street to name the World 100m champion, the vast majority would no doubt have answered Bolt. But this was Bolts first World senior title, adding to those he had won over 200m at Youth and Junior level.

Furthermore, Bolt becomes Jamaicas first mens 100m World champion and only his countrys second individual outdoor senior mens gold medallist after Bert Camerons 400m win at the first World Championships, in Helsinki, in 1983.

Accident and bad weather

The Bolt-Gay showdown was the most keenly anticipated 100m since the clashes between Johnson and Lewis at the1987 World Championships and 1988 Olympics. They had not raced each other for 15 months, since Bolt broke the World record for the first time with 9.72 in New York.

Gay went into the race with the fastest time of 2009 9.77 but Bolt had first had to get over injury suffered in a car crash in April, when his new BMW M3 skidded off the road and overturned, and then had to suffer unhelpful weather almost everywhere he raced. Furthermore, let us not forget that he is in only his second season as a serious 100m runner. Before 2008 he hadnt broken 10sec.

I have been through a lot this season, the 22-year-old Bolt said. Early season I started late in training. In the middle of my training I got into a car accident, which took me out for a while, and I have just been up and down.

I think I have to keep doing it year after year

How big was his step here in developing his legend? Its getting there but I dont think two seasons can do it, he said. I think I have to keep doing it year after year. It will take a lot of hard work because these guys are going to be coming next season and the season after that. Ive worked hard to get there, though.

Talking through his race, he said: I got a good start. That was my main aim and then my drive phase overall was good. I got out of my drive phase and I saw I was leading and, when I got to 50, I knew it was going to be hard to get past me because thats the strongest part of my race.

Inevitably, Bolt was asked how fast he could go, although he was already on record as saying: I think I could go 9.4 but I think the world stops at 9.4. Last night he answered:  Anything is possible.  Im just happy I won. For me, 9.5 is definitely a big thing. Im proud of myself because Im the first man to have done that. I never go out there thinking about World records. I just go out there trying to win.

The 200 metres may prove more challenging for Bolt, although Gay cast doubt last night over whether he would defend his title as his nagging groin continues to trouble him.  Bolts foot injury from his car accident prevented him running the bend in training for several weeks. So we havent had time to work on some of the things we wanted to work on, Glen Mills, his coach, said.

Is Bolts 200m World record of 19.30 also in jeopardy? I doubt Im going to get the World Record in the 200, he said. Im going out there to run hard, definitely, but I think it is going to be even more difficult.  I havent run 200s much all season because I dont think I was really in 200 shape. I took my time but when it comes to championships Im always ready.

Ready to run. Ready to have fun. Ready to make the world gasp and laugh.

Elephant Man says he is willing to clash Flippa Mafia at Sting if promoter Isaiah Laing is willing to pay him $5 million.

At the launch of Sting on Tuesday night, Laing said Elephant Man was running from a lyrical face-off with Flippa Mafia and, as a result the 'Energy God' would not be on the show.

However, Elephant Man says he is not running from a clash.

"Laing seh him waan mi and Flippa fi clash. Kartel seh him waan nine million, tell him (Laing) fi give mi $5 million and mi will clash Flippa," Elephant Man told THE WEEKEND STAR.

Adding, "Flippa a nuh nobody so mi will tek five. If him nah give mi five, mi nah do it. How him fi seh dat when a we build Sting over the years. So how wi fi a run from clash when a not even competition dat. Flippa dead from the two song weh mi do."

Back in the summer the two artistes traded insults in songs. Elephant Man did songs like People and Informa, whereas Flippa Mafia did Talk Di Truth and Who Me. After these songs Elephant Man said he did not feel the need to continue the lyrical insults.

As for the clash, Elephant Man said he was offended when Laing asked him to do lyrical battle with Flippa Mafia.

"Mi neva see Flippa wid a number one song yet. How him (Laing) fi seh dat? Him nuh rate mi. Di ting hurt mi. A big disrespect that. A Flippa and L.A. Lewis fi a clash, not Goofy, since him want a clash. Do betta than that Laing. Yuh a drop mi ting. Laing all right, God go wid him," Elephant Man said.

He further said Flippa Mafia was nowhere near his league, as he had performed with the likes of Janet Jackson and scored many hit songs.

Although Elephant Man does not plan to clash at Sting, he said he is fully booked for December.

Back in the summer the two artistes traded insults in songs. Elephant Man did songs like People and Informa, whereas Flippa Mafia did Talk Di Truth and Who Me. After these songs Elephant Man said he did not feel the need to continue the lyrical insults.

As for the clash, Elephant Man said he was offended when Laing asked him to do lyrical battle with Flippa Mafia.

"Mi neva see Flippa wid a number one song yet. How him (Laing) fi seh dat? Him nuh rate mi. Di ting hurt mi. A big disrespect that. A Flippa and L.A. Lewis fi a clash, not Goofy, since him want a clash. Do betta than that Laing. Yuh a drop mi ting. Laing all right, God go wid him," Elephant Man said.

He further said Flippa Mafia was nowhere near his league, as he had performed with the likes of Janet Jackson and scored many hit songs.

Although Elephant Man does not plan to clash at Sting, he said he is fully booked for December.
