The suit, filed by a woman identified as "Jane Doe," accused Irvin, the former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver and Pro Football Hall of Fame member, of raping her at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., in 2007, according to the report. No criminal charges have been filed. The Broward State Attorney's Office has been investigating the case and a spokesman told the Herald he expects a conclusion next week. Irvin, currently in South Florida for the Super Bowl, had hosted a talk show on ESPN Radio 103.3 in Dallas and works as a television analyst for the NFL Network. "His contract was up and the show has not performed," ESPN said in a statement released Friday. "We had previously decided to cancel the show and determined this morning to make it effective today. The permanent replacement begins at 11 a.m. CT today -- Ben Rogers and Jeff "Skin" Wade ("Ben and Skin")."

A man who yesterday attempted to rob a BlackBerry smartphone from a female motorist stuck in traffic on West Kings House Road, St Andrew, met a bitter end after the woman is alleged to have later hit him from his bicycle. The St Andrew Central police said the man rode up to the woman, slapped her across the face and grabbed her BlackBerry. The man rode off but was later hit from his bicycle. He subsequently died. Unofficial reports said the woman retrieved her cellphone from the crook after he was hit, but police could not confirm this. Superintendent Derrick 'Cowboy' Knight, said the woman is in custody at the Half-Way Tree Police Station. Up to late last night, she had not been charged.

The child was delivered via caesarean on January 27 in north east China and weighed in at 6lbs (2.75kg). LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - R&B star Jill Scott was sued Wednesday by her longtime record label, which is accusing the multi-platinum songstress of skipping out halfway through a six-album contract and potentially owing millions of dollars in damages.

The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by L.A.-based Hidden Beach Records, claims that the label and its founder, Steve McKeever, helped launch Scott's career and nurtured her into a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter but was unceremoniously dumped in October after a 10-plus year relationship.

"Hidden Beach is shocked by her decision not only because Scott has apparently chosen to leave the Hidden Beach family," the complaint reads, "but also because Scott is contractually required to deliver three more albums to Hidden Beach."

The complaint alleges causes of action for breach of contract and damages owed under a section of California's Labor Code sometimes known as the "De Havilland Law." Named after actress Olivia De Havilland's successful fight in the '40s against long-term studio deals, it provides that talent cannot be bound by personal services contracts for longer than seven years.

Hidden Beach isn't disputing that Scott's deal violated the seven-year rule but the law carves out a requirement that certain recording artists who wish to terminate their lengthy deals must reimburse their labels in the amount the labels would have received under the terms of the contracts.

Since breaking onto the scene with the double-platinum selling "Who Is Jill Scott?" album in 2000, Scott's studio albums (and live albums) have generated millions in revenue. So while Hidden Beach's alleged damages are unspecified in the complaint, under California law they could total several million dollars.

The lawsuit is unusually detailed in its description of the small label's close relationship with Scott. She clearly was the center of attention for McKeever. The complaint alleges he paid her million-dollar advances when he wasn't required to, allowed her to keep merchandising revenue, paid $450,000 to fund a concert DVD that Scott later asked not be released, bought her lavish gifts and indulged her desire to slow her recording schedule to pursue an acting career (Scott has appeared in the films "Houndog," "Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married?" and HBO's "No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency").

Dancehall deejay Chino is gearing up for a double release of his sophomore albums in the United States and Japan this summer.

Hailing from the Big Ship camp, Chino has been one of the young stars blazing a scene in the industry in recent time and is ready to take his music one step further with the release of two versions of his sophomore album - one for Japan and one for the United States. This will be the deejay's first album released in the United States. When The STAR spoke with him recently, he explained that the albums will have different names which have not been officially decided on as yet.

He said, "they are slightly different albums, the US one will be out by the second-quarter of summer and the Japanese one immediately before that. The Japanese version has mostly the popular songs like Protected, Pon Yuh Head, Ruff It Up, while the US version will have more exclusive unreleased tracks."

For the albums Chino went the extra mile translating his hit song From Mawning into Japanese for Japan andSpanish for the US. He said, "we did the Japanese version of the song in one day, I got a Japanese girl to assist me translating it and we did it. The same ting for the Spanish version." According to the deejay, he is listening to the translated versions earnestly so that he can perform them on stage while promoting the albums.

The albums are produced mainly by Chino's brother, Stephen 'Di Genius' McGregor, but also features other producers such as Shane Brown with Phone Gallis on the 'Boops' rhythm. In 2007 Chino released his first album in Japan called Unstoppable, which peaked as the fourth best reggae album there. For this album he says there is definite growth in his style, vocal abilities, lyrics, performance and shows a more mature artiste. He said, "this album will definitely be a classic and a collector's item."

To promote the album the artiste will be touring in both Japan and the US and has a number of dates overseas prior to that, such as 'Best of the Best' in Florida in May. "I'm looking forward to going on the road, Big Ship definitely has a huge following in Japan and From Mawning is a big dancehall song down there, so doing it in Japanese will give it an even bigger push," he said.

The artiste is still busy in studio with a number of singles coming out for Big Ship, TruckBack, Tony Kelly as well as International remixes. Presently he is hoping to do a video for his song Find It Hard featuring Dean Fraser soon.

Like last year, the Excellence in Music and Entertainment Awards (EME) was off to a late start and filled with performances and presentations.

At the scheduled 8 p.m. starting time people were still lining up to take pictures on the red carpet. This was still the case even when the show started.

Nonetheless, the show continued and many artistes were present to collect their awards. Most of the persons who were not at the show sent representatives to collect their awards and/or thanked the audience via the videoclips.

Many people also used the opportunity to take pictures.

There were performances from artistes like Romain Virgo, Wasp, Gramps Morgan, Hezron, Jodian Pantry, Nicky B, Cherine Anderson, Nadine Sutherland,Tami Chynn, Wayne Marshall, India Arie and Gramps Morgan.

A community in the Cross Roads area of St Andrew is now in turmoil and conflict after a woman from that area pinpointed a total of 19 men as the father of her baby girl. Reports reaching THE WEEKEND STAR are that the woman accused all of the men, including three brothers and businessmen from the area, of fathering her child. The scandal, it is reported, has taken over the entire community causing frequent arguments among the men fingered and seeing threats being issued to the woman as well as her family. A police officer from the Cross Roads Police Station told THE WEEKEND STAR that he was aware of the matter and said the police were keeping an eye on the community because of the number of disputes and threats that have erupted recently. "The issue of paternity is not really a police matter, so we are not concerned about that, but the disputes and the threats, that's how we come in." THE WEEKEND STAR was informed that one brave man has accepted paternity of the child, but he has now become an outcast in the community with many calling him a fool. It is also reported that the man has been branded a "winter coat", an extreme version of the Jamaican term 'jacket', usually used to describe a man who cares for a child that is not his. A source from the community told THE WEEKEND STAR, "She approached him and he reluctantly accepted. But people are saying that he spends a lot of time outside the area, so he didn't really know what was going on." several threats The source said, "It's a big thing in the community man. A lot of people are talking about it and it is spreading a lot." THE WEEKEND STAR was told that several threats have been levelled against the woman by some of the men who want their names to be cleared. They have also reportedly threatened the girl's mother, telling her to ensure that her daughter stops talking about them. This, the source said, has caused them both to be living in fear. The tricky situation has also reportedly caused the end of many friendships among some of the men fingered, and some have also been forced to face the anger of their wives and girlfriends, who are upset that their men have been caught in this web. THE WEEKEND STAR was informed that for a while after the child was born, she was given no name. The woman, who is reportedly either in her late 20s or early 30s, also has another child.

DetNews: Eminem's publicist is shooting down reports that the Detroit rapper has reunited with his twice ex-wife, Kim Mathersand that she's pregnant with his baby.

"Contrary to false rumors spread by unreliable tabloids, Marshall and Kim Mathers are not romantically reunited in any way, nor are they expecting a child together," Em's publicist Dennis Dennehy said in a statement on Wednesday. "They are a divorced couple who share custody of their daughter and maintain a friendly relationship."

The reports surfaced on Wednesday on mediatakeout.com, which quoted a Star Magazine story saying the couple got back together in June and that Mathers' baby is due in the spring. An anonymous "friend" says the baby is a boy.

The hip-hop star known as Eve, who is expected to release a new rap album this year, has been drawn into a massive U.S. Senate investigation into the illicit movement of millions of foreign dollars through the American financial system, a new government report shows.

Senate investigators spent three years tracking money flowing into the U.S. from the accounts of her on-and-off again boyfriend Teodorin Nguema Obiang. He is the playboy son of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea, the corrupt dictator whose three-decade reign has been marked by rumors -- believed to be falsely spread to incite fear -- of cannibalism. Investigators believe most, if not all, of the millions in cash came from corruption related to the massive oil and gas reserves off the coast of the tiny West African country.

According to the report released last night, Obiang used middle men lawyers, escrow and real estate agents, and in one case, his then-girl friend, the statuesque rapper-actress Eve Jeffers to allegedly set up shell companies in the U.S. Through those, investigators say, Obiang wired in funds that enabled him to buy luxury cars, a $30 million Malibu estate and place a down payment on a Gulfstream jet.

Two Los Angeles lawyers allegedly carried out most of the scheme. They were summoned to testify before the senate today to explain why they set up shell companies on Obiang's behalf.

Eve has a cameo in the report, as the president of what senate investigators described as a shell company. Obiang called it "Sweet Pink, Inc.," which was evidently set up in late 2005 "to employ individuals at the home [Obiang] maintained before he purchased the Malibu Property and to handle payroll and other matters related to the employment of those individuals," according to the report.

It is unclear if the money may have also helped Obiang finance his elaborate efforts to woo Eve, which included setting up a record label and reportedly paying $700,000 to rent Microsoft billionaire Paul Allen's 300-foot yacht Tatoosh for a romantic Christmas cruise around St. Barts.

Eve has appeared in movies alongside Hollywood superstars Daniel Craig, Kevin Bacon, Vin Diesel, Queen Latifah and Ice Cube. She recently starred on two episodes of the hit show Glee and is reportedly set to release a new album entitled "Lip Lock" this year.

Her publicist did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The status of their relationship is unclear, though reports have since had Obiang linked romantically to others.

If Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., has his way, Obiang won't be funneling more money into the U.S. to court women, or do much of anything else.

The investigation, conducted by the Senate's Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, which Levin chairs, highlights the variety of loopholes that have allowed corrupt foreign officials to channel ill-gotten cash into legitimate American holdings.

Brittany Murphy died from multiple drug intoxication, pneumonia and "iron deficiency anemia" in what the coroner has concluded was a accidental death.

The Clueless star, 32, was found unresponsive in her Hollywood Hills home on Dec. 20, despite frantic attempts by her husband, Simon Monjack, and her mother, Sharon, to revive her.

Simon and Sharon said they believed Brittany's death was due to a congenital heart murmur and denied rumors that the actress used illegal drugs or suffered from an eating disorder. They added that Murphy's heart condition was diagnosed in her teens, but said she had received proper treatment for it. They also said that she'd been suffering from laryngitis and flu-like symptoms in the days before her death.

A number of prescription meds were reportedly found by investigators on her nightstand. Simon says his wife was taking the painkiller Vicoprofen and the antidepressant Fluoxetine (also known as Sarafem) to deal with severe menstrual cramps, and that many of the other meds found were for his own use due to a seizure he recently suffered.

The actress was laid to rest in a twilight ceremony in Los Angeles on Christmas Eve.

A full autopsy report is expected within two weeks.

Embattled deejay, Mark 'Buju Banton' Myrie, who has been in Federal custody since December last year, is scheduled to return to court for a status conference today.

Buju has been held in Tampa, Florida, awaiting trial on drug charges. The trial is expected to begin in early March.

 

In a report carried earlier, Banton's lawyer, David Markus says the government entrapped his client in a drug deal.

In court documents filed in January, Markus claimed that the government used a paid informant to convince his client to buy cocaine, the St Petersburg Times reports. The defence is reportedly pushing to have the informant's identity revealed.

To prove entrapment, Markus will have to show that Banton was not predisposed to engaging in criminal behaviour and that the government induced him, an Associated Press report stated in January.

Banton was arrested at his home December 10. The 36-year-old, born Mark Myrie, pleaded not guilty to a drug charge in a Tampa federal court. He's being held without bail at Pinellas County Jail.

The twice-divorced duo are parents to 14-year-old Hailie Jade Scott, Eminem's frequent muse. He first married Kim in 1999. That union lasted two years, then they tried matrimony again in January 2006. They were done by that December.

Messi became the sixth Barcelona player to take the award and the first since Brazilian Ronaldinho in 2005. He beat last year's winner Cristiano Ronaldo into second place while Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez finished third in the poll results released by France Football.

Hailed by Argentina great Diego Maradona as his successor, Messi won an unprecedented treble in Spain last season with Barcelona as the Catalan side swept the Champions League, the Spanish title and the Copa del Rey.

Messi, who tallied 473 of a possible 480 points, largely dominated the voting and won with a record-margin of 240 points. Real Madrid winger Ronaldo had 233 and Xavi had 170.

"Honestly, I knew that I was among the favorites because Barcelona had a fruitful year in 2009," Messi was quoted as saying by the magazine. "But I didn't expect to win with such a margin. The Golden Ball is very important to me. All the players who won it were great players, and some great players never won it."

The 22-year-old Messi, the first Argentine to win the prestigious trophy, was the top scorer in last year's Champions League with nine goals, including his superb header in the 2-0 victory over Manchester United in the final.

Barcelona had three players in the Top 5 with Andres Iniesta taking fourth ahead of former Barca player Samuel Eto'o.

In an outstanding season, Messi netted 38 goals in 51 games in all competitions, often leaving defenders in his wake with a combination of speed, exceptional dribbling abilities and his effective left-footed strike.

Messi, who leads Argentina to next year's World Cup in South Africa, recently signed a new contract with Barcelona through 2016 and has a buyout clause of 250 million euros ($368 million) included.

Its the debate that will never end. And its one of the great arguments that will probably be revisited every decade until football is killed off by play-at-home gaming consoles. Who is the better player? Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi?

Comparing the greatness of football superstars is about as primitive yet fascinating as the game itself. The tussle could end in a stalemate, but it will still keep everyone entertained from start to finish. But unlike a football match, the result can never be determined irrefutably. There are just too many factors to consider and while one player may be regarded as the best by one fan, another supporter will invariably disagree.

But Marca recently came up with an ingenious way of counter-acting Messis crowning as the best footballer of 2009 by suggesting that Ronaldo is a more complete player.

Is the Madrid-friendly paper simply trying to stroke Ronaldos ego after the Portuguese surrendered his Ballon dOr and FIFA World Player throne? Or does the paper really have a valid argument, keeping in mind that being the most complete player doesnt necessarily mean being the best player of the moment.

While Marcas statement is no surprise, the results of the ten categories analyzed was. Ronaldo didnt only beat Messi in six departments, but the Argentine only dominated a measly two categories, leaving the other two in a tie. Here, we have another look at all the ten characteristics mentioned and give it a re-assessment.

Nothing surprising here. Ronaldohas long been panned for being too individualistic and too self-absorbed in trying to do everything and win games on his own as well as earn all the applause for himself.

Messi, on the other hand, who although has become world renowned because of his majestic dribbling skills, does rely on teamwork, often playing one-twos with the likes of Dani Alves, Xavi or Zlatan Ibrahimovic, or drawing out defenders off the ball for his colleagues to run into space. To be fair, Ronaldo has become more of a team player since his move to Madrid, which explains why the final mark is so close.

Theres no doubting that both players have outstanding technique, whether its ball control, dribbling, shooting, or even showboating. Cristiano is clearly much taller, stronger, muscular and robust, although some would poke fun at him for going to ground more often than a flea nicknamed Little Lionel.

Messi has shown, however, that size really doesnt matter. The Argentine has been known to use his slight physical stature to hound opposition players to rob possession off them while his low center of gravity gives him a massive advantage when hes running with the ball and squeezing past opponents. And despite being just 1.69 metres tall, the Argentine tries to stay on his feet as long as possible and keep charging forward even when defenders are attempting to hack him down.

From appearance alone, Ronaldo certainly wins this one, although he doesnt necessarily uses his physical presence to his advantage the same way Messi does his.

Another difficult category to separate as both players are incredibly quick, has tremendous bursts of speed and excellent balance when making sharp changes in direction. Of course, we will never know conclusively who is the fastest until they go head to head in a foot race.

Messis gift is his immaculate close control of the ball when hes on his familiar marauding sprints. The Barca prodigy also has a very distinguishable way of running, taking quick-fire small, shuffling steps. In contrast, Ronaldo uses his long legs to take big steps and stride forward like a gazelle, not unlike his good friend Usain Bolt. But the Portuguese is more recognized for his pace for the simple reason that he uses his raw speed to take on and beat defenders, while Messi relies more on his close control and dribbling skills.

DRIBBLING

As flashy as Ronaldo is, hes not much of a dribbler, not in the conventional Maradona-esque sense, at least.

His tricky footwork, shimmies, step-overs, flicks and backheels make it easy for him to beat an opponent one-on-one and he can effortlessly breeze past a rival with his pace, but hes not the kind of dribbler who can glide past five or six defenders in a crowded area, which is something that Leo can do in his sleep. And as mentioned above in the Pace category, Messi rightly wins this battle.

Messi is not a forward who depends on the power of his shot. Even when hes right in front of goal, he prefers to caress the ball past the goalkeeper rather than try to take the poor shot-stoppers head off. CR9, meanwhile, is always trying to score the outrageous 30-yard piledriver and demonstrating the lethal, brute force of his right foot is part of his game.

But shooting doesnt mean just power. Accuracy is also part of the calculation and both players can be deadly accurate from the 20-yard mark. But Ronaldo rightly edges this category thanks to his sheer power.

This was perhaps the most surprising and contentious. Ronaldo has never been known to be much of a passer of the ball during his Manchester United days, let alone a great passer. However, with Los Blancos, he has learned to collaborate with his team-mates but even then, its usually nothing more than a square pass or a touch-on in a tiki-taka move.

But Messi has started to pick up some extra-terrestrial passing qualities from Xavi and Iniesta and he has been seen to play some cleverly disguised piercing through balls.

El Mesias has five assists in the league compared to Ronaldos one and although simply having more assists does not necessarily mean being a better passer of the ball, its difficult to acknowledge that both players are on the same level.

HEADING

If the previous category drew some fierce debates, then this one certainly is a no contest.

Messi is working to improve on his aerial threat, something that he used to great effect to twist the dagger into the Devils heart in last seasons Champions League final against Ronaldo and his former club, Manchester United.

But Cristiano is one of the best headers of the ball, at least for a non-conventional target striker. He has the ability to outjump even the tallest of defenders and he is one of those players who seem to defy gravity in that Matrixy-style by simply hanging in the air longer than is humanly possible. And his headers do pack quite a punch.

LEADERSHIP

This one, of course, drew quite a lot of criticism. Ronaldo, the one who regularly throws temper tantrums and sulks on the pitch (or used to, at least), boast great leadership attributes? Disagree as much as you want, but the Portuguese is the captain of his national team and he can often be seen rallying his Madrid team-mates.

Messi, on the other hand, seems like the kind of player who just wants to have fun with the ball out on the pitch and cant be bothered concerning himself with leading ten other men. Not to suggest that hes a sheep, but when you have a player like him, you would certainly want him to focus more on this football than on anything else.

FREEKICKS & PENALTIES

Both players are excellent freekick takers. They have certainly scored their fair share of them. But theres a reason why Ronaldo has the edge here. The recent research by a physics professor that Ronaldos thunderbolts behave like a baseball pitch something that you just feel may have sparked Marcas own study of who is the more complete player in the first place has of course made CR9s freekicks more glorified and feared than Messis.

Somehow, someone has determined that its easier the curl the ball over the ball into the back of the net than it is to make it dip, swerve, bend and U-turn. Which is probably true. To hit the ball the way Ronaldo does require immense precision in technique and the slightest of miscalculations could send the ball flying towards the team bus out in the stadium parking lot.

The two of them are also near flawless when it comes to penalties, not just in terms of executing them but also the psychology and the art behind it, although Ronaldo recently failed to convert one. But the 94 million man has made taking freekicks one of his trademarks.

In the final analysis, Ronaldo does emerge as the more complete player, but its a much closer contest than you would think with the Portuguese winning five of the 10 categories and the Argentine winning four. Which is hardly surprising. Cristiano and Leo have become the two best players in the world over the past two years or so and their supremacy has been unchallenged, according to FIFA and France Football magazine, anyway, and it only makes sense that they are neck and neck. But who between the two is better?

Its an argument that will one day overtake the Pele-Maradona debate and in a way, the two Real Madrid and Barcelona stars have already become the updated, modern day, 21st century version of the most widely discussed topic in football. I say let there be no conclusive answer and let the debate rage on for another century.

NEW YORK -- Virgin unveiled the latest addition to Richard Branson's luxury fleet on Friday: an underwater plane that will fly riders into the depths of the Caribbean Sea.

 

Guests on Necker Island, a retreat in the British Virgin Islands, will be able to dive underwater in a submarine dubbed the Necker Nymph for $25,000 a week. But that's only after shelling out around $300,000 for a one-week stay on Necker, the private island owned by billionaire and Virgin Group chairman Richard Branson.

Beginning on Feb. 20, two riders and a pilot and will be able to take the plunge from land, or from a boat. The underwater plane uses the downward pressure on its wings to fly through the water for up to two hours at a time, while an open c**kpit will give riders a 360-degree view.

 

The Necker Nymph's typical speed is 2 to 5 nautical miles per hour and it can dive more than 100 feet, said Karen Hawkes, a spokeswoman for Hawkes Ocean Technologies, the company that designed the Nymph.

 

A statement released Friday by Virgin Limited Edition, the luxury arm of Virgin Hotels, described the Nymph's launch like a plane's takeoff. "Gliding on the water's surface like an aeroplane on a runway, one of the three pilots will operate the joystick to smoothly dive down."

Vacationers will be able to fly the Necker Nymph while chartering the Necker Belle, Branson's 105-foot yacht, or the submarine can be launched from shore. Necker Belle is rented out to guests for $88,000 a week, bringing the full Necker Island experience to more than $400,000 per week.

 

Riders must follow SCUBA procedures and be trained or accompanied by a certified pilot before entering the underwater plane. SCUBA tanks are mounted in the submarine and passengers must wear masks while underwater, said Hawkes.

 

The Necker Nymph claims "near-zero" environmental impact because its "positive buoyancy prevents the sub from landing on a reef, and its low light and noise emissions ensure the fragile ocean ecosystems remain undisturbed," Virgin said.

The Alliance crew is keeping close to fans with two weekly street dances: the new Alliance Happy Thursdays and the resurrected Bounty Sundays.

Led by veteran deejay Bounty Killer the Alliance consists of members such as Mavado, Flexxx, Einstein, Bling Dawg, Serani, Chase Cross, Busy Signal, among others. Alliance Happy Thursdays has been held every Thursday, at the No Limits Sports Bar on Hillview Avenue, since November last year. Bounty Sundays is held every Sunday at Limelight, in Half-Way Tree, and was launched last Sunday.

When The STAR spoke with Alliance PR representative, Julian Jones-Griffith, he said that both dances were started as a means of maintaining the Alliance fan base. He said, "me and Bounty had been thinking for a while to start a weekly event, because the Alliance fan base is so strong and we were looking around for a suitable venue. And because we travel a lot, weeks went by and we never locked it in. Then Kartel started his thing in The Building which just happened to be on Thursdays, too. So, we just left it alone because we didn't want to make it look like we were just starting a ting on Thursday because they were, we honestly had the idea for months."

According to Jones-Griffith, however, Alliance fans were left with nothing to do on a Thursday night and after the launch of Flexxx's Fresh video at the same venue on a Thursday, Alliance Happy Thursdays was launched.

Bounty Sundays lived a short life-span back in 2008, in Majesty Gardens, when the police decided not to grant permits for the dance, as well as its rival, Beenie Tuesdays. According to an article in The STAR, reports surfaced that Beenie Tuesdays and Bounty Sundays caused disagreements between men from the top of the community, where Bounty Sundays are held, and the lower section which holds Beenie Tuesday.

At the time, Senior Superintendent Derrick 'Cowboy' Knight, head of the St. Andrew South Division, said, "We are not granting any permission for none of them...That is going to cause conflict and we have to step on conflict because conflict leads to crime."

Jones-Griffith spoke about the re-start of the dance saying, "Bounty Sundays started again because of demand; also, as you know, there is a huge disconnect between people who want to party and the police enforcing the cut-off time. So Bounty Sundays was always battling with that, and it gets frustrating, so we decided to take it to Limelight on Sundays. This is a licensed entertainment venue where the party will be able to continue without falling foul of that legal restriction."

According to Jones-Griffith, the event is not about only Alliance music, and tries to be cost-efficient when it comes to drinks and entry. It also provides a safe partying environment. As for fans, he says they can feel free to talk to their stars saying, "despite popular belief Bounty is a people person, and the Alliance members too."

From the moment people started using passwords, it didnt take long to realize how many people picked the very same passwords over and over. Even the way people misspell words is consistent. In fact, people are so predictable that most hackers make use of lists of common passwords just like these. To give you some insight into how predictable humans are, the following is a list of the 500 most common passwords. If you see your password on this list, please change it immediately. Keep in mind that every password listed here has been used by at least hundreds if not thousands of other people.

There are some interesting passwords on this list that show how people try to be clever, but even human cleverness is predictable. For example, look at these passwords that I found interesting:

ncc1701 The ship number for the Starship Enterprise
thx1138 The name of George Lucass first movie, a 1971 remake of an earlier student project
qazwsx Follows a simple pattern when typed on a typical keyboard

Approximately one out of every nine people uses at least one password on the list shown in Table 9.1! And one out of every 50 people uses one of the top 20 worst passwords..

PROFESSOR Rex Nettleford, one of Jamaica's brightest sons and a cultural icon, died in the George Washington University Intensive Care Unit last night, six days after he collapsed in his hotel room in Washington and four hours before his 77th birthday.

Nettleford, who suffered a massive heart attack, was admitted to the hospital's intensive care unit and placed on life support. He never regained consciousness and finally passed at 8:00 pm.

He was in the US capital to participate in a fund-raising gala for the University of the West Indies (UWI), where he was vice-chancellor emeritus.

Last night, a medical report signed by Dr Christopher Junker of George Washington University said that the life support was terminated in keeping with Professor Nettleford's wishes.

"Mr Nettleford has been under our care at the George Washington University Intensive Care Unit for catastrophic brain injury following a cardiac arrest," Dr Junker said. "After extensive evaluation and discussion with his medical power of attorney, it has been determined that [in] the absence [of] any possibility of recovering meaningful cognitive function, Mr Nettleford's wishes would be to terminate any life support and we have followed his wishes. Life support was withdrawn on February 2, 2010 at 19:45. Time of death 20:00."

Last night, Prime Minister Bruce Golding, who is in China on an official visit, expressed deep regret at Nettleford's passing.

"I am deeply saddened at the news, just received, of the passing of Professor Rex Nettleford," Golding said. "Jamaica and the entire world have lost an intellectual and creative genius, a man whose contribution to shaping and projecting the cultural landscape of the entire Caribbean region is unquestionable."

Added the prime minister: "Rex Nettleford was an international icon, a quintessential Caribbean man, the professor, writer, dancer, manager, orator, critic, and mentor. He has left a void in our world that will be a challenge to fill."

Nettleford, he said, "stamped his indelible mark in every chosen field of endeavour and his rich and lasting legacy should be preserved for those who must carry on his life's work -- the emancipation of the Caribbean colonial mind from mental slavery in its quest for identity".

Golding extended, on behalf of the Government and people of Jamaica, condolences to Nettleford's family, the UWI community, the members of the National Dance Theatre Company (NDTC), which Nettleford founded and led for almost 50 years, his colleagues and friends.

Long-time friend and colleague Barbara Gloudon, speaking on a radio programme last night, described Nettleford as a true Caribbean man.

Former Prime Minister P J Patterson, himself a close friend of Nettleford for more than 50 years, said he was shocked at the news, given that only a fortnight ago he had seen Nettleford and he was "in fine fettle".

"The nation, the wider Caribbean and beyond mourn the loss of this great Caribbean icon," said Youth, Sports and Culture Minister Olivia 'Babsy' Grange.

Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller said: "This is a national loss and one that I feel personally. Words are inadequate to capture the extent of the grief I feel."

She hailed Nettleford as a "son of rural Jamaica whose life's trajectory testifies to the success that is possible through grit, determination, resilience and 'smadification' within the Jamaican cultural environment of which he wrote so eloquently".

Simpson Miller extended her sympathies to the NDTC, the Caribbean academic community, in particular the UWI, and said that at another time she will attempt to commit more fulsomely to words her feelings of sorrow as well as add her voice to the celebration of a life that was well lived and filled with yeoman national service, deep respect for country and a genuine appreciation for all persons with whom Nettleford came in contact.

Ralston Milton 'Rex' Nettleford was born on February 3, 1933 in Falmouth, Trelawny.

He was a professor of Extra Mural Studies at the University of the West Indies and also headed the Trade Union Education Institution.

As a Rhodes Scholar, he studied at Oxford University and has authored a number of books, among them Mirror Mirror, Manley and the New Jamaica, The African Connexion, In Our Heritage, and Caribbean Cultural Identity: the case of Jamaica.

Nettleford was known as much for his involvement in the arts as his immeasurable contribution to academia.

For the entire life of the NDTC he was its driving force. Through his guidance and influence the group won international acclaim and is regarded as one of the best dance ensembles in the world.

He was cultural adviser to the prime minister, member of the Inter-American Committee on Culture, founding governor of the Canada-based International Development Research Centre, and had acted as expert/consultant to the government of Ghana, FESTAC, CARIFESTA and UNESCO.

He is the recipient of Jamaica's third highest honour, the Order of Merit, as well as the gold Musgrave Medal, the Pelican Award from the UWI Guild of Graduates, an honorary doctor of Humane letters from the University of Hartford and the Living Legend Award from the Atlantic Black Arts Festival.

Buju Banton -

The Gargamel Music family, comprising of close friends of jailed deejay Buju Banton, has set up an official blogspot for the artiste, where fans can keep in touch with Banton and his music.

The website - www.thisisbujubanton.wordpress.com, according to source close to Banton, is the only official blogspot where persons can donate to the star, as well as write to him while he is incarcerated in Tampa, Florida. According to the website, the blog has been set up to provide regular news on the case, to get official 'Free Buju' T-shirts (which are also available locally at the Gargamel studio), exclusive music, unreleased videos, media watch updates, letter writing campaigns - among other things.

The source who maintains regular contact with artiste said the deejay was doing well. The source said, "He's doing fine. (He is) great, his spirits are high. He's ready to let his side of the story be known. He's also doing a lot of reading and writing. He gets a lot of letters from fans and he's responding to them."

Banton has been in detention in the United States since December 10 when he was held in Florida after a United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) sting operation, during which his two co-defendants were arrested at a warehouse where they had allegedly gone to buy cocaine. The dancehall star was not at the warehouse at the time the others were arrested, but the DEA claims it has audio and video evidence of the artiste testing a package of cocaine. Banton is being represented by prominent US attorneys David Oscar Markus and Marc David Seitles. He is slated to return to court tomorrow for a status conference before the trial begins in March.

Since Banton's incarceration, a number of local artistes have continued to show their support for the local icon at various stage shows, wearing 'Free Buju' shirts and through songs. Anthony B has showed his support with the song, Free up the General while Cocoa Tea has done the song, Buju. The source said, while Banton has not heard the songs he is being kept aware of all the support from his music family.

A tribute to Buju Banton concert was also being organised to be staged in Miami early this year but has been postponed until further notice. According to the source, the delay has been mainly due to time restrictions in the schedule of the artistes willing to perform. They said, "the artistes are definitely on-board but a lot of them are on the road and it's the time frame that's really causing the delay but we're still working on it."
