"Dear Ms. Cooper,

Good day to you and i hope you are in the best of health and the highest of spirits, but I am not.

Ms Cooper as you know i am in jail on numerous charges and id like to tell you that i am an innocent man who needs your help because im being painted as this evil D.J. by day, don by night murderer who is societys number one cause of crime and violence. The police is using the media to slaughter me and as such i dont think i will get a fair trial. They are using the media to form public opinion of me that is so contradictory to the person that I really am. They (police) have tried my case in the public & found me guilty.

Every single piece of alleged evidence, every new development in the case is thrown on t.v. as if this is a soap opera, but i can assure you that this is no movie to me. This is about my life and my freedom and i take them very seriously.

My charges are merely allegations, but they are giving the public the impression that i am guilty and that is not fair to me or my family.

I have been to court on numerous occasions and saw hundreds of accused men who are charged with heinous crimes like murdering children, killing police officers, burning & shooting whole families and i have never once saw police on t.v. discussing the development of those cases, much less every week, as in my case.

DJ Kenny impersonated?

March 1, 2012
Started By brownsugar3 Comments
Popular selector DJ Kenny is claiming that he is being impersonated by a selector in the United States who has been using his name.

DJ Kenny, whose real name is Kenroy Batten, has been doing mixtapes since 1999 with Cassette Ninja, and has also worked with selector Fire Links and sound system Coppershot.

Kenny says he has been getting calls from persons who say someone else is referring to themself as 'DJ Kenny'.

"Him name DJ Kenny over that side. Some promoters have been booking DJ Kenny and paying him but it's not this DJ Kenny. He's living off my name and mixtapes," the selector told THE STAR.

He said he gets calls about this 'DJ Kenny' on a regular basis but he has not made contact with him.

"I don't really contact him, a just mi friends dem a tell mi what a gwaan. Maybe it affect mi financially. It might slow me down from going overseas and doing certain shows. But you have people out there who know the real DJ Kenny," he said.

Fun enough, DJ Kenny says he does not have a major problem with the person using the name as long as he isn't using the name to do 'nutten bad'.

Meanwhile, the solo selector, who has done several mixtapes over the years, says he recently returned from Orlando, Florida, and Canada. Over the years, he has done shows in Canada, United States, Japan and Nigeria.

ST. THOMAS - As the sun was setting and families were heading home about 6:30 p.m. Friday, gunfire erupted between Buildings 11 and 12 of Paul M. Pearson Gardens housing community, leaving music promoter Shamal Smith, 24, dead, and wounding St. Thomas reggae artist Delyno "Pressure" Brown and a 33-year-old acquaintance.

By 10:30 p.m. Friday, Pressure, 30, was home with his mother and father, trying to promote a new album over the phone with a fresh, single gunshot wound through his right hip.

"The bullet went straight through," said Pressure's father, Irvin "Brownie" Brown.

While Brownie was on the phone, Pressure told him to mention his latest feature, which has not been released yet and still lacks a title, he said.

Pressure, who lives in Florida and arrived Monday with a scheduled flight home Sunday, was set to perform tonight at Pilgrim's Terrace, Brownie said.

The show is scheduled for 10 p.m. with headliner Lady Saw, Pressure Buss Pipe, Selecta Avalanche and After Dark Empire.

Because of Smith's death, it is unclear whether the show will go on or whether Pressure will take the stage, Brownie said.

Friday night, Brownie said Pressure recalled the moments before the shooting, sitting with Smith and discussing tonight's show, which sold advanced tickets for $35.

The second surviving victim, who is Pressure's friend and a fellow musician, suffered gunshot wounds to the chest, police said.

Friday afternoon, Brownie first learned of the shooting with a phone call from his daughter in Texas, he said.

"I flew out of my house and went to the hospital," he said. "I saw the crowd up there.

"The police stopped me, and they told me they believed he was going to be all right," Brownie said.

Pressure ran to the home of a relative who lives in the housing community, Brownie said, and the relative helped him hitch a ride to Schneider Hospital on a safari taxi.

At 8:30 p.m., a police officer escorted a body to the Schneider Hospital morgue, according to police information.

When the rapid gunfire rang out, children ran from the scene, according to police information.

Three male suspects fled the scene, and one of the suspects pulled his shirt over his face while slinging a rifle, according to police information.

Police initiated a search from Paul M. Pearson Gardens housing community to Oswald Harris Court housing community.

No arrests were made by 11 p.m., said St. Thomas-St. John Police Chief Rodney Querrard Sr.

Querrard said the crime scene was crowded when police arrived because of the time of day.

"We had a lot of families getting home from work," Querrard said. "It was just before dark."

Querrard said he could not disclose how many spent shell casings were found at the scene.

Upon initial inspection, no cars bore bullet holes at the scene Friday afternoon, Querrard said.

The investigation is ongoing, and Querrard said police understand some of the crowd that formed after the shooting may already have been at the scene during the shooting.

"There were a lot of people in the area," Querrard said. "We're requesting any information from the community - anything that they saw. No matter how unimportant they believe the information is, please contact us."

Anyone with information can call detectives at 715-5534, 715-5545 or the Crime Stoppers USVI anonymous tip line at 1-800-222-8477.

During the Brit Awards, Adele won the British Female Solo Artist & Mastercard British Album of the Year awards for 21. But, while that was probably expected by most, the real story of the night actually had nothing to do with music.  But, was that really even necessary?Adele gave the finger after being interrupted on stage...

In addition How crazy is this? After a full 52 weeks on the Billboard 200 album chart (mainly at the top and never dropping below #7), Adele f*%ked around and moved another 730k copies of 21 the week following her 6-for-6 night at the Grammys. Applaud this woman!

2011 saw the loss of 3 main Jamaican artistes to the jail or prison cell.  Let me hasten to say that they all faced very serious charges.  The first loss was the loss of Ninja Man on murder charges.  It has always been said that Ninja Man is like the grandfather of the Boxing Day show, Sting.  This was very sad news for the Dancehall fraternity to hear that such a veteran in the business was about to fall by the wayside.  However, Ninja Mans incarceration was not very hot on the lips of Dancehall fans, and neither did they seem to care that much.  This was evident when the benefit concert put on by the Dancehall fraternity for the embattled Deejay was sparsely attended.  It could be assumed that Ninja Man is the most insignificant loss to Jamaican music, since he is, for the most part not really a recording artist, and persons only get to see him or hear him at Sting or other stage shows.

Stop Online Spying in Canada

February 16, 2012
Started By stainlessss2 Comments

The government is about to push through a set of electronic surveillance laws that will invade your privacy and cost you money. The plan is to force every phone and Internet provider to allow "authorities" to collect the private information of any Canadian, at any time, without a warrant.

This bizarre legislation will create Internet surveillance that is:

  • Warrantless: A range of "authorities" will have the ability to access the private information of law-abiding Canadians and our families using wired Internet and mobile devices, without justification.
  • Invasive: The laws leave our personal and financial information less secure and more susceptible to cybercrime.
  • Costly: Internet services providers may be forced to install millions of dollars worth of spying technology and the cost will be passed down to YOU.

If enough of us speak out now the government will have no choice but to stop this mandatory online spying scheme. Sign the petition now, and forward it to everyone you know

ryno-and-popcaan-300x203.jpgDancehall artiste Blak Ryno and his former labelmate Popcaan are still at odds and only a lyrical showdown could settle the feud.

Ryno, who release a diss track Gaza Beating Stick, aimed at the Gaza prefect last year, said Poppy is afraid of a clash.

Di whole Jamaica nuh see seh him fraid man, Ryno said

Ryno also release a second diss track last month titled Follow Mi Up, where he accused Popcaan of copying his style.

Di bwoy run wid mi flow/ Yuh gal fren dem seh yuh waan ketch mi smile/ Yuh run wid mi plait up and a seh a neva mine/ Yuh run wid mi image and yuh a nuh mi chile/ Bwoy yuh just a follow mi up/ Mi a di original, dem a knock off man/ Yuh just a mirror mi bwoy, stop mirror mi nuh, Blak Ryno said in the song.

Popcaan has not yet respond to these claims.

Who you think would win the clash?

site rnbxclusive.com appears to have been seized via UK law enforcement, who put up a splash page even more ridiculous (though with fewer eagles) than the ICE splash page:

The site, like many music blogs, did post various videos and commentary about new music. Perhaps some were infringing, but you'd think that there would be a trial first. This takedown is apparently happening via SOCA, the Serious Organized Crime Agency in the UK -- who, amusingly, puts a copyright symbol on their takedown splash page. There are all sorts of issues to be raised here.

  1. First and foremost, as mentioned, this is the first time we've heard of a foreign country seizing a .com -- which the US DOJ/DHS appear to claim as their own jurisdiction. While perhaps this was done in concert with US law enforcement, it seems pretty questionable that the US would allow what they insist are "domestic" domains to be seized by foreign countries. Think of the precedent that sets for... say... Iran. The operators of the site appear to have been in the UK, so that may be the reasoning behind this, but it still raises significant jurisdictional questions about just who can seize a .com.
  2. Second, the big red warning at the top is insane. Merely downloading music wouldn't be a criminal offense with a possibility of 10 years imprisonment. While I'm not as familiar with the differences between civil and criminal infringement when it comes to UK copyright law, I believe it's not that different than the US, where merely downloading is going to be civil, not criminal. A quick review of UK law suggests that it can only be a criminal issue if it's done at commercial scale, and doesn't seem to apply at all to personal downloads. In fact, the UK explicitly fought the idea of expanding criminal sanctions to file sharing. So, SOCA is basically lying.
  3. Next, the splash page claims that the music was "stolen" from artists. While the copies may be infringing, it's doubtful that the music was literally stolen.
  4. The scare tactic of displaying your IP address and pretending that this suggests they're coming after any visitor to the site. This is, again, insane. The RIAA tried this years ago when it got the Grokster site and it was just as silly then as it is now. Merely visiting a site is not breaking the law, and splashing your IP address next to a message suggesting visitors are about to be put in jail is insane hyperbole.
  5. Further, claiming that SOCA has the ability to "monitor" you is also an exaggeration. While it may be able to monitor certain transactions, it seems to be implying that it's watching your every move.
  6. Claiming that "young, emerging artists may have had their careers damaged" because of this site is pretty silly. Most young, emerging artists are actively leaking their works to such sites so they can emerge. They know that obscurity is a much bigger threat than piracy ever was or will be.
  7. Saying that downloading music means you have (absolutley) "damaged the future of the music industry" is again insane hyperbole. The music industry has continued to grow pretty consistently over the past decade. It's just one segment -- the direct sales of music -- that has stumbled, and that was the part that rarely pays artists very much anyway.

This whole thing is pretty crazy, and I'm surprised such blatant censorship by UK law enforcement of a "US" domain hasn't received more attention yet.

According to Paul Elliott he was peeved after Merciless said some disparaging things to him backstage at the event.

STORY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Representative: Singer Whitney Houston has died at age 48
  • She sold more than 170 million albums, singles and videos
  • The entertainer had struggled with addiction problems

(CNN) -- Legendary pop singer Whitney Houston has died at age 48, representative Kristen Foster said Saturday night.

The cause and location of her death was not immediately known.

According to her official website, Houston, who struggled with addiction problems over the years, sold more than 170 million albums, singles and videos over her career.

Houston was set to appear in this year's "Sparkle," a remake of the 1976 hit, which was loosely based on the story of The Supremes. It was her first movie role since 1996's "The Preacher's Wife."

Her body of work includes seven straight Billboard No. 1 hits in the 1980s, including "Saving All My Love for You," "Greatest Love of All" and "Where Do Broken Hearts Go." Billboard puts her soundtrack to the movie "The Bodyguard" as one of the top 10 biggest-selling albums of all time. She also starred in the film.

The daughter of singer Cissy Houston, Whitney was born on August 9, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey. Famed music producer Clive Davis reportedly spotted Houston 20 years later in a New York nightclub, signing her on the spot, according to her website.

The singer's rendition of the national anthem at the 1991 Super Bowl, days into the first Persian Gulf War, earned raves and cemented her place in the American musical landscape.

After "The Bodyguard," Houston went on to appear in several more films in the 1990s, including "Waiting to Exhale."

In 2000, Houston earned her sixth Grammy for best female R&B performance and, a month later, she was named female artist of the decade at the "Soul Train" Music Awards.

Her career stalled, however, in subsequent years as she entered rehab for addiction problems.

In May 2011, Houston got help for her much-publicized struggle with drugs and alcohol, her representative said at the time.

In a 2009 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Houston recalled how her mother arrived one day at her doorstep at her daughter's house with sheriff's officers and a court order in a drug intervention. She talked about doing cocaine and smoking marijuana.

"(My mother) says, 'I have a court (injunction) here," Houston said. "Either you do it my way, or we're just not going to do this at all. We are both going to go on TV, and you're going to retire.'"

Houston had a high-profile and tumultuous marriage to Bobby Brown, a former "New Edition" star who has had multiple brushes with the law. The couple appeared together in the mid-2000s on the reality show "Being Bobby Brown."

Producer Clive Davis steered Houston's career for more than 25 years, also serving as a mentor.

Vybz Kartel (born Adidja Azim Palmer January 7, 1976 in Portmore, Jamaica) is a multiple award winning Jamaican dancehall artist/lyricist.

Kartel has already had several collaborations with international hip-hop and pop stars. In terms of singles sold, he has had the second-best year on the reggae charts for 2003 (outsold only by Elephant Man) and has released 2 albums for UK/US based label Greensleeves Records Ltd.

He was also featured twice on the Def Jamaica project, and nominated for Source, VIBE and UK MOBO awards although his UK MOBO award nomination was withdrawn amidst controversy over the homophobic content of his lyrics. By the age of 15 young Vybz was practicing singing in his neighbourhood of Waterford, and then recorded his first single Love Fat Women. Success was around the corner but Mr Palmer need a name that would compliment his lyrics. After watching a movie on Pablo Escobar the infamous Colombian Drug dealer he decided to change his name to Kartel.

Vybz Kartel was born at Kingston's Victoria Jubilee Hospital. Originally from Waterhouse, Kingston, he was raised in the Waterford community of Portmore, St.Catherine. Adidja attended Calabar High School in Kingston but was expelled as a teenager. Determined to continue his education, he completed his studies at a tutorial technical school. The young Adidja was exposed to a wide variety of music from a tender age by two uncles who happened to be aspiring musicians themselves. Every weekend he would be treated to new musical offerings on his uncle's old component set, ranging from Sam Cooke to country and western ballads to Ninja Man, who became one of his musical foes. At the age of 10 his favourites included artists as diverse as Papa San, Charlie Chaplin, Will Smith and KRS-1, all of whose lyrics he would write down and study word-for-word, performing them later for the entertainment of friends. Deciding he wanted to be a deejay, he began writing his own lyrics at the age of 11.

Early Career
Adidja and his friends Arif, Boyie, and Saif, often frequented the weekly Gong Talent Show at the now defunct Coney Amusement Park on the outskirts of Kingston, but to their chagrin were always gonged off whenever they got a chance to perform. Undeterred by his weekly failure to impress the talent show audience, Adidja decided to hone his skills and concentrate on winning over his own community of Waterford until he was ready for bigger things. With that goal in mind, on weekends he would practise his art on neighbourhood sound systems Soul Signal and Electric Force. In 1993, the young Adidja, now in his early teens, recorded his first single Love Fat Woman for Alvin Reid's One Heart Label under the name Adi Banton, a name he chose in tribute to Buju Banton, another of his role models. He recorded several more tracks for local producers, perfecting his craft until 1996, when he and two friends, Mr Lee and a singer called Escobar, decided to form a group. One night, after watching a movie about Pablo Escobar and his infamous cartel, Adidja came up with a name for his trio: Vybz Kartel.

Career route
Vybz Kartel's new role as Killer's protege (a spot once held by prodigal prodigy Baby Cham) caught the attention of the public and led to a career rise, first as a ghost-writer for Bounty, Elephant Man and other members of the Scare Dem Crew, followed by collaborations with Bounty Killer such as Gal Clown and Girls Like Mine (Liquid Riddim), then finally coming into his own with early hits such as Gun Clown, Guns Like Mine (Trafalga Riddim), Badman (Panty Raid Riddim), Bus Mi Gun Like Nuttn, Most High (Mexican Riddim) and War Organizer (Clappas Riddim). He also had a string of successful collaborations with Wayne Marshall, such as New Millennium (Mad Antz Riddim), Why (Krazy Riddim) and Why Again (Good To Go Riddim). This led to Vybz Kartel being crowned Deejay of the Year at Stone Love's 30th Anniversary, 2002.

From the outset, Vybz Kartel was more of a 'badman' deejay than a pop artist. In his early career he mostly concentrated on unapologetically hardcore, undiluted songs extolling the virtues of guns, sex and ganja, but his biggest hit was yet to come. He had success with more mainstream, club-oriented singles such as Big Man (Engine Riddim), ****y Jaw (Mad Antz Riddim), Sweet to the Belly (Egyptian Riddim) and Bruk Buddy (G-String Riddim), but in late 2003 his single Tekk Buddy on the Thunder Clap Riddim proved to be the one which catapulted his career into the stratosphere. The single stayed on the charts for months and spent weeks at the number 1 position, and finally brought Vybz Kartel to the attention of those who hadn't yet become aware of him. Name change
In late 2006, Vybz Kartel reportedly changed his stage name to "Addi di Teacha". Fans still generally refer to him as Vybz Kartel.

Feud with Mavado
Towards the end of 2006 and due to disagreements and internal rivalries Vybz Kartel left the Alliance. Tensions arose following Kartel's continued association with Bounty Killer's longtime enemy, Beenie Man, including Kartel attending Beenie Man's wedding to Bounty Killer's ex-girlfriend, D'Angel. Vybz Kartel cited his departure as being due to him wanting to be an independent artist. It was reported that Vybz and Bounty Killer performed together ahead of the annual Sting show. Due to Kartel's defection from the alliance and his 'parring' with the enemy 'the doctor' Beenie Man, a series of songs and counteraction songs ensued - the main proponents being Kartel and Mavado.

A very public feud between Vybz Kartel and former collaborator Mavado arose towards the end of 2006, stemming from Vybz' much publicized departure from the dancehall conglomerate group, The Alliance. The feud resulted in numerous diss-tracks released, in which each artist dissed the other and their associates over popular dancehall rhythms.

The feud threatened to escalate beyond lyrics, however, in the following months with shoot outs at the popular hangouts of the artists, and on-stage scuffles between members of each camp. This intensification prompted a police-overseen press conference in which both Mavado and Vybz publicly announced an end to hostilities and apologized to fans.

Reggae veteran singer Luciano was stoned in Nigeria over the weekend while performing at the 2011 Rivers State Carnival CARNIRIV held at Liberation Stadium on Christmas Eve.

According to reports, Luciano was invited to perform at the annual event by the consultant handling the cultural festival. Shortly into his set, patrons began hurling bottles on the stage after complaining about his style of reggae music.

Shocked at what was happening, Luciano paused and asked the crowd, Whats happening? You dont want me?

I am a messenger of God. Dont you want the message? I was in Ethiopia, they (Ethiopians) received me. I was in Gambia, they received me. Why wont you receive your brother?, he added.

Despite his plea more bottles was hurled at him before he left the stage.

Many Jamaicans steadfastly believe that currently incarcerated Reggae superstar, Mark Myrie aka Buju Banton was entrapped by the United States government; leading to his subsequent conviction on drug-related charges last year. However, one American journalist has gone full-length to try and attach merit the aforementioned sentiment.

Chris Sweeney, a writer for the Miami New Times unveiled an in-depth, six-page piece on Tuesday, documenting the various events preceding Buju Bantons arrest in December 2009 as well as his conviction last February on three drug charges. The piece speaks of how Buju met Alex Johnson, the lead informant in the Reggae superstars case who later accepted a plea deal in the case to avoid a lengthy jail sentence.

In the piece titled, Buju Banton Is Innocent, Sweeney details a flight that the Untold Stories singer took on July 26, 2009 from Madrid, Spain to Miami, Florida. On that flight, Buju met Johnson, who introduced himself as Junior, while claiming to know Lloyd Evans, a manager whod long been an idol of the Reggae singjay. Buju, who was allegedly drunk at the time, was called over by Johnson prior to planes landing in Miami, where he showed Banton money that he made from illegal ventures. Buju responded by supposedly bragging about a drug ring he was involved in that had roots in South America and Europe.

Hours after the flight, Johnson and Buju met again at a restaurant where a conversation between the two was secretly recorded by Johnson. Again involved in heavy drinking, Buju supposedly revealed more drug-related details and the two men began talking over the phone for several months as Johnson bragged to loved ones about his new-found friendship with the singjay. Shortly thereafter, another conversation between the two was taped by Johnson during a meeting at the Marriott hotel where Johnson approached Buju about the facts and figures of cocaine deals.

On December 8, 2009, two days before Bujus arrest, the prominent deejay planned to enjoy a day out on the town; driving with long-time friend, Ian Thomas and a female companion before Johnson aka Junior told him that the aforementioned plans had changed. The three men met at a restaurant in Sarasota, FL before heading to a dimly lit warehouse where an apparently shell-shocked Buju noticed a stranger, who had been talking with Johnson, open a car trunk which contained 20 kilograms of cocaine. After Buju and Thomas tasted a small dib of the cocaine powder, Thomas negotiated prices with a prospective buyer in Georgia while Buju sat nervously in a corner. Following that exchange, Buju nervously drove back to his Florida home; throwing up after drinking several margaritas and apparent stress.

Buju avoided calls from Junior for the next two days until police entered his Tamarac home, arresting the deejay on a pair of drug-related charges just hours after taking in Thomas and James Mack, who were caught with a stash of money and an illegal gun.

Throughout the remainder of Sweeneys article, he points out Alex Johnsons extensive criminal record as a Colombian drug dealer; calling him a mendacious snitch, amongst other things while claiming that this was part of his plan to help government officials nab Buju Banton.  Additionally, Sweeney outlines previous cases where Johnson was used as a government informant to track down other prospective suspects. Evidence outlining Johnsons past was never used in the second trial against Buju Banton which took place last February.

Theres also mention by Sweeney of Buju Bantons controversial 1992 single, Boom Bye Bye as a possible reason for the alleged entrapment. The song, which was done following the murder and rape of a young boy by a homosexual man earlier that year, has long been frowned upon by American gay and civil rights rights groups, amongst others for its violent lyrics against gays. Sweeney cites University of the West Indies (UWI) professor, Caroline Cooper and Reggae superstar/long-time friend of Buju Banton, Wayne Wonder as defenders of the single; denouncing any literal meaning attached to the song whilst expanding on its metaphorical meanings.

Currently, Buju and the leader of his legal team, David Oscar Markus are awaiting word on an appeal that was filed last December on the deejays behalf; asking a Georgia appellate court to overturn the Reggae artistes 10 year sentence. One of the grounds for Bujus appeal was the revelation that an American constitutional law may have been broken as the U.S. government did not bring the established singjay before trial during the 70 day window allotted under the Sixth Amendment. Should that prove true, it would violate theSpeedy Trial Act, possibly triggering the dismissal of Buju Bantons case.

In May 2011, I-Octane partnered with TV personality and Communication Specialist Kerine Miller, to launch his own production company, "Conquer the Globe Productions Ltd". The idea to start the company emerged out of I-Octane's growing need to manage and direct his own career as well as to assist other young artistes in developing their craft.

"Conquer the Globe is really a vehicle for me to manage and produce my own songs. So certain riddims will be birthed out of my camp and other artistes can voice on them, but this way, it is my project, so I have the freedom to decide which direction I want it to go. Also, I remember some of the things I went through as a young artiste and I know other people have similar experiences. With my company I can play my part in helping them to overcome some of the obstacles they are bound to face."

Outside of producing music, the company will also provide upcoming artistes with various packages which can be purchased to help with their careers. "We realized that many people have the desire and the talent to become entertainers, but many of them don't have any idea what steps to take. Most of them don't have a lot of money to start with," Kerine Miller stated. "So what we've done is brought together a team of people from various facets of the entertainment industry and created an affordable package that will help them get their foot in the door."

Being wary of giving away too much information at this point. "We're still setting everything up," I-Octane says. "Once everything is ready, we'll provide everyone with more details."

Conquer The Globe Productions will not dedicate too much energy to signing and managing other artistes as it's main focus will be I-Octane. The singjay humbly admits that he still has much to learn about the industry and is committed to doing just that before he takes on the responsibility of managing someone else's career.

"I can't teach people what I don't know," the artiste stated. "Maybe in the future we'll take on 1 or 2 artistes, but not yet...nothing before its' time."

Both I-Octane and Miller are excited about the project and look forward to getting into full operating mode. Kerine summed it up by saying, "On one hand, there's definitely a need for the services we'll provide. On the other hand, the world has been wanting to get more of I-Octane - with the rise of Conquer the Globe Productions, they definitely will!!"

NewsdzeZimbabwe; A Chitungwiza man has attacked his 60-year-old mother after she refused to give him $10 to attend the Mavado Show.
Kudakwashe Matimbe (26) of Unit D flew into a rage and grabbed her mothers TB tablets and flushed them down the toilet. When his mother, Media Matimbe, asked where he had put the tablets, he launched onto her with fists.
He has since been jailed for six months by Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Godfrey Unzemoyo after he admitted to beating his mother .
Kudakwashe told the court that he failed to raise the money though he is a conman and a drug peddler.
Mr Unzemoyo slapped him with 10 months but set aside four months on condition of good behaviour. Mr Unzemoyo took into account that Matimbe's behaviour was outrageous because he mistreated his old mother.
"You are one of the people who need a custodial sentence since you disregard one of the Ten Commandments that you should respect your mother and father.
"It is therefore, the courts' duties to punish people like you and send out a clear message to those would-be offenders," he said.
Allegations are that on January 22 this year, Media Matimbe was asleep in her bedroom with her husband when their son stormed in demanding $10 to attend a Mavado show in the capital.
After she indicated that she did not have the money, Kudakwashe became violent, seized her purse and took her TB tablets and flushed them down the toilet.
The helpless Media woke up and met with him in the passage where she grabbed his belt demanding to know where he had placed her tablets. Irked by this, Kudakwashe floored his mother with claps and bit her on the finger.
She screamed for help and Kudakwashe's father came out to assist.
Kaudakwashe threw stones at his parents and went away shouting.

Vybz Kartel was again remanded until May 8, when he will go to trial to answer to the charges of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Kartel is also before the court on two murder charges.

The date was scheduled this morning, when Kartel appeared before Senior RM Judith Pusey in the Half-Way Tree Resident Magistrate's Court.

Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is charged jointly with fellow Portmore Empire artiste Vanessa Saddler, more popularly known as 'Gaza Slim' and his associate Andre Henry also known as 'Pim Pim'.

It is the first time that all three accused were appearing before the court at the same time, because co-accused Pim Pim could not be located by the police.

Both Kartel's co-accused are also to go on trial on May 8. The duo also had their bails extended.

Pim Pim, however, had the condition of surrendering his travel documents removed, because his passport cannot be located.

The charge of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice arose after it was alleged that Kartel and Gaza Slim, were a part of a plot to undermine a police investigation into the murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams.

Kartel is accused of killing Williams.

Saddler had filed a report with the police claiming that Williams assaulted her during a robbery in Havendale, St. Andrew.

She claimed that the incident occurred on October 29, five days after Kartel was charged with Williams murder.

It is alleged that Saddler and others fabricated the story to help Kartel with his defence

PANAMA CITY, Fla. - A Florida teenager called 911 to ask police to place her in a children's shelter because she "heard her mother having sex."

The 15-year-old girl felt disrespected when overhearing her mother having sex late one night, so she called Panama City Police Department to report the situation, The Smoking Gun first reported on its website.

When police arrived at the home in the early hours on Jan. 19, the girl's mother explained that she was with her boyfriend and did not intend to wake her daughter. But their bedrooms are right next to each other, according to the police report, which was obtained by FOXNews.com.

At some point, the mother and daughter had an argument, the police report said.

The teen, who told police that there was no abuse, originally asked to be taken to the Hidle House, a temporary home for children who are homeless or abused. But after speaking with a representative, she decided it was almost time for school and decided to stay put.

A domestic rights brochure was left for the family, the police report said.

While on the set of The Zone with The Weeknd, Drake revealed that the definitive answer is NO.

"No. Because despite how its been worded by him that situation is not a hip hop moment or a battle for the sake of musical integrityits a ploy for attention around the release of an album. More than anything it was just disappointing cause what kid isnt a fan of what Common has done for our genre. A guy who made such an incredible career for himself based off expressing genuine feelings about life and love is now targeting me for sharing my story."

Your music is very worldly in inspiration. Do you have a particular spiritual background, or do you adhere to a certain school of thought?

Vybz Kartel:

I think religion is "good" in terms of restricting chaos as it keeps people in check (sort of like an extension of man-made laws). So they, the religious, believe that for every "evil" action (sin) there is a punishment of severe and eternal proportion (burn in hell, blah blah blah). I am spiritual not religious, I put my trust in scientists rather than pastors. I praise life.

World Clash is turning a new leaf for its thrilling return in 2012, as part of Irish and Chins year-long 15th Anniversary celebration. While the streets buzz for World Clash is immense, Irish and Chin recently announced big plans for the epic sound clashes to be held on Saturday, April 7 @ Amazura in Queens, New York and Monday, April 9 @ Pier 1 in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The return of World Clash is being fueled by Irish and Chins R.E.S.E.T. (Restoring, Exciting, Sound System, Entertainment Together) campaign, which was recently launched on their weekly Sound Chat Internet radio show. R.E.S.E.T. aims to bring back excitement to sound system entertainment on a global scale. Some major components of the campaign involve the creation of a unified arena for juggling and clash sounds, the admission of 45s (non dubplate recordings) in sound clashes and less profanity in competitions.

To address the incorporation of establishing a unified arena in the R.E.S.E.T. campaign, Irish and Chin co-owner Garfield Chin Bourne says The global presence, which was once governed by Dancehalls top sound systems has become dormant, as both the juggling and clash sectors of the industry have suffered a decline in bookings and global visibility.

The promoter adds In order to regain the position that sound systems once had, moving forward, it would be advantageous to create one arena, consisting of juggling and clash sounds/selectors. This fusion will allow Dancehall fans to experience a mixture of hardcore and bashment entertainment in one setting, ultimately resulting in a tremendous increase in patronage.

I came up with the R.E.S.E.T. campaign to establish a formal vehicle of bringing positive changes to the sound system arena as a whole, says Garfield Chin Bourne. My ultimate goal is to help ensure the longevity of this very unique and historical sport I chose to incorporate 45s into the campaign, as it has become extremely apparent that inflating dub plate prices and a lack of discovering new talent could eventually kill the craft.

Numerous historical sound system figures have endorsed the return of 45s, indicating that 45 records were an essential component of the early sound clash era. A recent caller also brought up a very valid point: the return of 45s could possibly bring women back to the currently male-dominated clash arena. Ultimately, most women in the Dancehall appreciate hearing music that they can recognize and sing along to.

To round off plans for R.E.S.E.T., Irish and Chin would like to see an arena that is ripe with talent and limited on profanity. This will allow there to be more focus on the entertainment and musical aspects of it all. Toning down profanity will also allow the culture to have a wider audience and greater marketing opportunities. Irish and Chin fully recognizes that explicit language has been a major element of hardcore sound clash entertainment, but admits that sometimes it goes too far.

Irish and Chin is currently hard at work crafting a stellar line up for the World Clash events, which will likely involve clash and juggling sounds. While a dream team of sounds is being identified, the World Clash promoters will continue to publicize the clashs return and educate fans on their R.E.S.E.T. campaign. Because so many fans are contacting Irish and Chin about the highly anticipated World Clash, there will soon be early bird tickets for the New York staging for sale on Irishandchin.com

Microsoft's chairman Bill Gates recently put a rest to some rumors that he was planning to return full time to Microsoft, saying he was committed to his work with his charitable organization the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This week, Reuters reports that Gates will donate a whopping $750 million to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

The global AIDS fund has in the past helped to fund a quarter of the efforts around the world to fight the spread of HIV and AIDS as well as the majority of money to help combat TB and malaria. However, the fund's money has been drying up in recent years. In 2011, the organization announced it would not be able to issue any new grants until 2014.

In his announcement this week, Gates urged other world governments to help add money to the fund, saying, "These are tough economic times, but that is no excuse for cutting aid to the world's poorest." There has been some criticism of how the fund has handled its finances but Gates praised how the organization has dealt with the situation, saying, "We've looked at where they've found money that wasn't applied properly and how they tracked that ... the fact is the internal checks and balances have worked."

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has donated over $28 billion so far to help combat health issues in third world countries as well as for improving education in the US. Gates has said he plans to donate the vast majority of his Microsoft created wealth to charitable causes.

Burger King, the No. 2 burger chain, has quietly begun testing home delivery of its burgers, fries and other sandwiches since fall at four of its restaurants in the greater Washington, D.C., area, with an eye on expanding beyond that.

Should home delivery catch on for the burger giants as it has for the pizza kingpins it could be an industry changer. But it runs counter to long-held consumer perception that fast-food burgers and fries travel poorly and don't warm up well in the microwave. It also would require millions of hungry folks to change their at-home eating habits. "There are some real food-quality issues here," says Ron Paul, president of research firm Technomic. "But there's no question that consumer expectation for having things delivered has risen."

In some markets, Amazon can deliver books the same day they're ordered. Groceries are increasingly being delivered. And retail giants, including Sears and Target, even offered home delivery of fresh-cut Christmas trees.

In an electronic age of instant everything when millions of consumers expect to get what they want at the click of a button the logic may seem sound. But what about those soggy fries and limp burgers that folks fear go hand-in-hand with home delivery?

Well, Burger King has developed a "proprietary thermal packaging technology," says Jonathan Fitzpatrick, chief brand and operations officer for Burger King, "which ensures the Whopper is delivered hot and fresh, and the french fries are delivered hot and crispy."

There's a $2 delivery fee. And depending on the store (three in Maryland and one in Virginia), minimum orders vary from $8 to $10.

The stores try to deliver within 30 minutes of the time a phone or online order is received. Delivery customers must live within a 10-minute drive of the store. All soft-drink orders are in bottles. And breakfast items are not delivered. Delivery times are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

McDonald's has two restaurants in Manhattan that offer delivery only to businesses. But there are no plans to expand the service, spokeswoman Ashlee Yingling says.

And Domino's, whose business is 70% delivery, is watching with a smile. "We wish them luck," spokesman Tim McIntyre says. "There is a reason that not all pizza places deliver: It isn't easy."

MAVADO-SIDE+1-e1327431787229-209x300.jpgI David Brooks wish to make the following statement:

On the 13th June 2011, arising out of an incident which took place at the Quad nightclub in New Kingston where Conroy Edwards aka Connie was fatally shot whilst being unarmed.

To date, this matter continues to be the subject of investigations with the lapse of seven (7) months.

The matter became one of public interest to the extent that one of the major news stations, TVJ, has featured video clips of the part of the incident leading up to the shooting of Conroy. This feature formed part of its 2011 Year in Review Highlights.

As a witness to the incident and a Jamaican citizen who is committed to the rule of law, it has caused me great concern that, what I, in my humble view, see as a clear case of homicide, has failed to result in an arrest thus far.  Myself, along with five (5) other persons who were eyewitnesses to the incident, have carried out our civic duties by giving statements to the police.  I attended the Constant Spring Police Station immediately after the incident where I gave my eyewitness statement to the police about the shooting I witnessed and about the assault on me.

A determination of this matter, which we understand was sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for a ruling, is anxiously being awaited.

It is no secret that allegations made against me led to my arrest within hours after the said June 13, 2011 incident and subsequently to me being charged for assault.  However, contrastingly, the person against whom statements were given, a serving member of the JCF, has yet to be arrested. How could this happen? I was assaulted first by the police officer, I reported the incident first and subsequently was arrested first.  Connie was killed while being unarmed.  I have deliberately kept my silence for the last seven (7) months, but the time has come for me to go public with the hope that justice will be done.
